With iOS Music MIDI and audio tools making it easier to generate repeating loops, it can be tempting to devote way too much time to arranging clips in order to get music with enough variety that it’s worth zoning out to for a few hours. Sector last you take that catchy motif and twist it into an ever evolving groove. Still wishing for iPhone and AU versions! Rock solid when using it so far, sounds coming out of it are great even under extreme tempo changes, the Markov probability is laced throughout the app in the sequencer and time warp, and it's all been up together so nicely, so easy to use and yet satisfying complex to view. I can see this being the secret weapon of many bedroom musicians! Would be nice to be able to variate the random function as it's a bit full on by default. If you've used Yello, GlitchBreaks, Samplr or many of the other similar apps, this fits in nicely with the other ones and probably the best of its class so far..Version: 0.9

✓ MesmerizingThis is a great app for chopping, twisting and creating all kinds of interesting contortions in your music. The layout looks confusing at first but really is pretty straight forward and easy to use. I only give it four stars because I occasionally have problems with some of the warp effects getting 'stuck' and repeating far longer than they should. Also, sound quality suffers a bit with to many jumps with natural sounding samples. All in all this app is amazing..Version: 1.0.2

✓ Almost perfectly unusualIt's a great app, and after a bit of practice you can create wonderfully strange music. My only two criticisms are I had to buy Audioshare to get my own samples into the app (though not a hardship - Audioshare is fantastically useful), and less fantastic - the little clicks between slices. The latter is a bit of an issue - while I like a bit of a glitch effect I don't want clicks and clipping every few seconds on every track I make. If the developer can smooth the transitions from slice to slice, or add an option for this, so there isn't a little click at the beginning then it'll be the perfect app for me. ✓ Gigantic!Kymatica is producing hands down the best ios music apps for those with both a sense of adventure and expectation of quality. The AUFX series of effects are to my mind equal to, in some cases superior to, much more expensive and well advertised plug ins. Sector may sound and look forbidding with its stochastic references, dark optics and flywheel of data. It is in fact a joyful and unexpectedly deep sound manipulation toolbox that, if I were to draw parallels where there are none, is akin to Figure set loose from the P-stable on gigantic quantities of steroids. It renders samples, shifts bpm and tone, stutters and glitches to be sure, but the real treat is the freedom it affords the user to go as far as he or she wants. Or not. Once you get the geography of the app, it becomes a playground of sonic mirth and mischief. Highly recommended and, as has been pointed out, it is consistently well supported, updated and feedback-welcome..Version: 1.0.2
✓ New beats for oldOne of the best beat manglers I've found. It encourages experimentation. Whilst it can be rather opaque at first it does encourage happy accidents, a quick read of the manual will help things to make more sense if not actually taming the thing. The warp and sequencing controls give you a lot of power and control to chop the beat up and apply some seriously fun effects. From then on its up to you how much chaos you let into the mix, from mild tweeking to full on brain melt. Everything from subtly varying a hip-hop beat and adding some scratching to seriously messed up glitchcore. Even a non producer could find a lot of fun with the numerous built in projects and samples. Set it running with a degree in random on and it'll produce endless variations.
