✓ Finally, a great mobile-oriented game!I love match 3 games. I hate freemium games. This is a dilemma. Well, this game solves that. After the ruining of Bejeweled by making it free and ad-supported after people had already paid for it, I had no "pick up and play" game that didn't bombard me with ads or "pay or share on Facebook to get more lives." There's none of that here. But what IS here is a satisfying game with good pacing and a good story that can not only be a quick on-the-toilet diversion, but also can be played for a long time. Made it to the update (the demonic tower) and suddenly it’s ten times harder. I was expecting a challenge but I’m curious if anyone has been able to finish the update. It’s possible to fight through a whole dungeon only to have 0-1 attacks that will damage the boss, creating a very tedious or impossible fight unless you leave and reenter the level. Needs an option to change equipment mid-battle (at some cost, like a turn skip) or make resistances less all-or-nothing..Version: 1.07
✓ A shining gemI rarely give five stars but this game fully deserves it for the things I have seen so far. It is a well-thought, perfectly executed and carefully polished match-3 game. And the icing? NO IAP. This game combines a typical save-the-princess RPG story with a match-3 gameplay. What makes this game stands out of the crowd are depth and variety. Unlike some card drawing deep-pocket match-3 game, this one does not need you to invest more than the listing price, and it offers quite a number of skills and places to explore. If I have to list a complain, then judging from the size of the world map, this game might not be too long. But I just got out of the starter village and three dungeons, so we shall see. ✓ Big game for little moneyBy the time I’d finished the game I had clocked up 56 hours of gameplay. It is that fun combination of matching rows of symbols to simulate combat. This won’t be for everyone as it is quite Grindy. And if you’re failing with bosses you’re going to have to go around the local area fighting local encounters to try and boost your XP.I ended up having to do that in each new area which is quite similar to a JRPG. Don’t be fooled by the cute graphics - there is a beast just under the surface and it will punish you if you are under-equipped. Also once you have finished, unless you want to play the game all over again at a high difficulty you are basically done with it, so the replay value is the initial 50+ hours which is still excellent value for money..Version: 1.07

✓ Amazing App.I cannot believe they saved my review that I wrote two years ago but was unable to publish before the hotel wifi went down. Here is what I wrote two years ago in my hotel room in Kentucky: RPG + Match 3 and no IAP. This is the game that I've been waiting for. Four symbol on the board, repenting 4 different types of attack/support spell. The combination of different class with different emblem and skill rune is just fantastic. Love the story and smooth game play. There are few stressful element in this game, but not enough to stop me from rating it a 5 star! Here are the "troublesome" elements: 1. Coins are hard to come by, either you get a chest, or a gnome in battle to get quick cash, or you have to farm quite hard. 2. Chest key cannot be swapped with any tile on the board. 3. Special tiles doesn't react to each other. I personally would like to see this happening as to most match 3 games does that. However, this would represent a different element in the traditional match 3 game so I am fine with it. 4. Difficulty / story progression doesn't sync. This will cause many players to realize that they need to farm quite a bit before advancing to the next event. 5. You cannot play your own music while running this app, it will overwrite it with its own music. Aside from these points, I honestly dig this game. Also, I support taiwanese apps :).Version: 1.06

✓ Fantastic!!!!This is a deceptively simple game, but with a surprising depth. Animation and graphics is great. It is cheap (and NO IAPs!!!!). Awesome!! I am around 15 hours in (and none of this is grinding to level) and I only feel like I am a fraction through the game (have just opened up a whole new area - a huge ocean area - and there are other areas on the map yet to be unlocked). One reviewer said there was a hardness jump which prevented them moving through the story - but I have not encountered this. Another great thing is you don't need an Internet connection to play (played the game on a plane with airplane mode on! ✓ Finally a good mobile gameLike a lot of other gamers, I'm constantly looking for a decent mobile game to play during my commute and I always play for an hour or so then delete it. Most games in the App Store are just complete junk: in app purchases, free-to-play models where you have to watch an ad or share on social media to continue playing, or even force you to quit for the day unless you pay. This is the one I've been looking for. I loved Puzzle Quest 1 & 2 when those where on the App Store, but this is even better. ✓ My new year fave!How did I miss this? A cross between a match three and and rpg. Not only that there are not a ton of game elements to confuse me. It's basically power up or die. So yes there is a lot of grinding needed to progress but with such a fun battle system that is never a chore. The templars dome shield comes in really handy in boss fights. The warriors inferno can kill five enemies at once. I love building special icons that I can use strategically. Beware the southern graveyard there are creatures there that can wipe out your party in one hit. Wonderful game. It will keep me happy till Alto's Adventure 2 comes out..Version: 1.06

✓ Late game difficulty is ridiculousThis is a nice game. It's challenging even in casual mode, it has an interesting story (although some characters are a bit annoying), and it scratches that Puzzle Quest itch (although PQ2 had a lot more depth). But what's happening with the difficulty in the late game is ridiculous. Especially in the additional content, the bosses can resist almost everything you throw at them, and even normal opponents are stupidly overpowered. Even with all party members leveled up and geared up as high as they can possibly be at that stage, these battles are simply impossible. There's very little you can do in terms of strategy here, all you can do is grind and hope for a lucky run. Very frustrating. If it wasn't for the late game difficulty spike, I would give the game five stars, since I absolutely got my money's worth out of it. But as it is, I am a bit frustrated that I can't finish the game unless I want to spend hours just retrying the same, extremely difficult battles..Version: 1.07

Not only that, but there's no "pay to win" nonsense involved. No IAP. No advertising. Buy the game and enjoy it without any harassing pop ups to get you to rate them or buy junk. The only thing I thought should have been different was experience gained should apply in battle in real time. It's kind of strange that we have to complete the battle to have experience applied. ✓ Great gameplay, mediocre storySeriously, game is a lot of fun, however, it does come with some gripes I have with it. What it boils down to is that the story seems very poor (so far). Some of the dialogue is pretty cringy, but I still come back playing because I need to complete my quests and the Tetris style gameplay is so addictive and impactful. When you line up a bunch and combos turn into even more combos it is a satisfying experience. I tend to not even look up at my characters and just focus on the puzzle and my health (which is upsetting because it has some okay attack effects). ✓ Fun and challenging and NO IAPI very much enjoyed this game. Originally looking for something like puzzle quest. This game’s mechanics are different and more simplistic (no spells) but they squeeze all possible variety they can from this implementation of tile matching. Boss and enemy abilities and weaknesses are quite varied, and the final stage will have you challenged until the very end. Thanks for a fun game with no IAP. This was money well spent..Version: 1.07

✓ On my 3rd time through...You pay your money and get a full game. That’s so rare, and since I only buy games with no IAP this was a rare find. The writing I juvenile and skippable after the first play through, it’s the simple gameplay that’s a winner. Not as in depth as Puzzle Quest 2, but still a fantastic match game. Hoping part two is a pay once game and they will have my money. I’ve put in at least 70 hours on this game. Yes you might have to grind a little, or, you could actually use all your skills and assign them effectively to your characters for boss battles and make your journey much easier and more rewarding. Every enemy has a weakness, so use your skills to exploit it. Voila, no need to grind... 5 stars..Version: 1.07
✓ Awesome puzzle gameI don't like JRPGs, I don't like games that require you to grind through levels and yet I love Hero Emblems. It is a fun Match 3 puzzler that has light RPG elements and a ton of content. Unlike a lot of JRPGs you are not annoyed by too much dialog. It has the right enough to drive the story and nothing else. You do need to grind a bit to work through the levels but not too much. With no IAP, ads or other crap this is perhaps one of the best casual gaming experiences on the App Store..Version: 1.06
