The online game has some challenges getting going and you pretty much have to be in contact with the other person at the start to agree on what game you are playing. The invite does not seem to work at all. In person with the board game, on the app against friends & strangers in the Game Center, against the robot (though the robot does seem to have the uncanny ability to get a Qwirkle *every* time I put the 5th tile in a row). I love the app and will continue to play it, though sometimes it is frustrating when it had "end turn errors" or you can't "rematch" an opponent the way you should be able to. It seems like you should be able to search for opponents in the Game Center, too, but I don't think it's possible, unfortunately..Version: 1.0.3

✓ Great game - but can’t invite friends anymoreThis is an excellent adaptation of a great game. Smooth graphics and lots of playing options. Recently though the rematch option at the end of a game has stopped working - greyed out and it’s hit and miss whether you can replay people you’ve played before because invite friends doesn’t always show them. So now it’s starting to be unplayable when you can’t keep playing with people you have been interacting with for years..Version: 1.1.0

✓ One of my favorite iPad games.A great implimentation of a board game. The AI levels are are well done and have a definite change in style as you level them up. Most important to me though is the ability to change the colors of the tiles. As someone with a pronounced red/green color blindness, I find the table top game extremely difficult to play. In almost every situation, I can't tell the blue from the purple. Having the ability to change colors makes the game playable for me. I can use the play & pass feature to play with friends and family. I hope there is a version due soon that will be compatible with iOS 11..Version: 1.0.3

If if it wasn't so much fun, I would have given up on it a long time ago. It loads slowly and has slow response (10 seconds) when I touch my name to get to on online game with an opponent. ✓ Fun to play!!My family and I love Qwirkle and were so happy to see there was this app. Now we can play while quarantining. It does seem to be a bit glitchy and would be great if it had a chat feature in the game so you can communicate with the other players. I love that you can play with others you know but also with random people/robot. It would be great if you nudge the person you’re playing with (chat feature would help with that) and if you can easily see each person’s turn as they go..Version: 1.1.0

✓ Good, hopefully will get betterHappy someone made a Qwirkle game app. I enjoy playing it and recommend it to others, but it has some minor issues. There needs to be a “next game” button to move to the next unplayed online game. When you’re playing a bunch of online games the list gets long and some of the games are hidden; you can scroll down but it’s not obvious enough that you can, so some people forget the games that are out of sight. There should be a way to turn off the opening move suggestion feature. Once you know how to play that’s just annoying. It has one little glitch: if I’m playing online games and then move to local games it won’t let me start a new game. The board goes blank, no pieces. I have to close the game and reopen to start a new local game. And finally, notifications don’t work for it..Version: 1.1.0

My Mother, and a close friend of mine used to play Qwirkle all the time with me - in person at least once a week when we were living closer to each other. We first discovered this app well over a year ago and were really upset when it no longer worked on my iPhone after updating the iOS... ✓ Great game!My family plays this board game when we get together. Found this version of the game while quarantining during the pandemic. The family lives in different areas of the country and it's great to get together and play on line. We usually do FaceTime on one device and play on the other so it's like being together. Another group I play with we use the phone to talk while we're playing. It took some time to figure out how to get everyone on board but now it's easy. I'm just grateful I don't have to keep score!😆 I think I wrote this review a while ago and never sent it. Unfortunately Qwirkle has not been updated for a while and it’s not compatible with the updated iOS. Now you cannot invite friends to play to play on the updated iOS. ✓ Suspect expert robotFirstly this is an excellent game and is quite addictive but the expert level seems a bit suspect to me…. If I were a programmer (which by the way I am) and my manager asked me to build in a difficult “expert” level I would be tempted to coerce the selection of tiles so that the robot frequently gets a Qwirkle, this is what seems to happen. I can almost predict when the expert robot will get a Qwirkle and I’m usually right!.Version: 1.1.0
✓ Fun game, cheating AII’ve played the table/live version of this game, and it’s a lot of fun. I’ve convinced a few of my friends and relatives to get this app, and playing against each other is just like the real thing. The multiplayer interface for setting up a game is a bit clunky, but it’s fine once you are playing. The single player mode, however, clearly cheats. If you set up 4 or 5 tiles in a row, the robot ALWAYS completes the Qwirkle (at least - usually it will place several tiles) the next turn. Either the AI sees your tiles or it pulls the perfect tile(s); no matter the case the single-player mode is not fun..Version: 1.1.0
✓ Easy & FunWe have played Qwirkle at home for many years. This year, with the pandemic and social distancing, our family could not be together. So we decided to try to play our games in a new way, online. Though my husband & I are older, and not technologically savvy, our son was able to talk us through getting the app and learning to play Qwirkle in this new way, online. It was actually easier to do than I thought. So we were still able to enjoy playing games together in spite of being apart. ✓ Love this gameThis game is great to play and has the same feel as the original tile game. The real benefit though is you can play multiple games at the same time. Adding players is a little trickier that it auto to be; however, and sometimes, just as I make a move, the game board refreshes and I need to re-do my move. At the average level, however, the computer regularly makes frustrating moves that mess up opportunities for either player to make a Qwirkle. At the hard and expert levels the computer gets the more useful tile opportunities and can make better plays. ✓ Love e game but not the bugI love the game and played it all the time with family and friends. However theres a new bug with the Game Center. If I chose to play against 2-3 players vs 4 players, when the second player takes their turn all the tiles disappear from the ‘bag’. It makes the game extremely short. My only complaint is playing online with friends it’s a little bit flaky you have to keep re-opening it and I’ve had to make the same move more than once. ✓ BrilliantI love this game and enjoy the challenge of playing the expert robot but I do feel that what makes the expert so good is a much better distribution of good tiles than a better strategic game. ✓ Great game but will leave you frustratedI love the board game so I thought I'd love playing this online version. Actually it's pretty good but playing against expert will leave you frustrated and mad. I consider myself an above average player but playing against expert is ridiculous. I've played about a dozen games now versus expert and lost all but 2. It will give itself all the right colors and shapes at the right time to make qwirkles while you are stuck with duplicates galore. On average, I'll make maybe 1-2 qwirkles per game while the bot will average 4 or 5. Again, I waited until I had played enough games for a small sample size to ensure I just wasn't unlucky. ✓ Tally Record Addition for an Update & Bug FixGreat game. We also play the table top version on an almost daily basis. What would be very nice though, is to have a running tally of games won between the robot and yourself. It would be great to see who wins the most games. It would be nice, as well, if they could fix the bug that is causing random scores not to be counted. I now check my score before I finalize a move. Every few games the app will not change my score after my move. I haven’t noticed it on the robot side..Version: 1.1.0
✓ Invite Friends only via Game CenterBut when they rolled out iOS13, I no longer can invite friends with my iOS12 device. They just get link to the APP store. When they send me an invite, I cannot access it. Even when I try forwarding invites to friends from within the game. No joy. Is there a work around? Or an update in the works? Usually have 10 games going with different folks, but now, when a game finishes none of us can restart the game. The “rematch” button stopped working a couple of months back and we were still able to go through the online process and invite friends to play. ✓ Fishing Doc ReviewIt’s a great game, and the online version opens up some new avenues, especially in the “time of COVID (such as playing with others remotely). The achievement function doesn’t record your achievements accurately. I’ve watched n some achievements (announced by the app after completing a game) but later when I review my achievement board, the achievement is not listed - it’s a minor thing, unless your really into achievements, I suppose. I have to redo my play about 3 times before it takes. Also, I would love to see a score tally added to the bottom of screen that shows how many possible points I might get in that turn as I add tiles to the board and decide where to play.
