✓ Love the game but doesn’t always workLike the other reviews have said- this is just like the table version and I love that you can play it online with friends. Unfortunately, that feature (when playing with 2 pr 3 people) starts but after the first round doesn’t give tiles and one has to forfeit the games. ✓ Inviting friends just not friendlyLove this game, played it successfully a couple of times. Now whenever I try to invite a friend or am invited by one, one of us starts the game with no tiles in the bag and then can’t take a turn. And that’s when we actually can see we’ve been invited. ✓ Good game. Horrible Game Center integrationThis is the same great game that you can buy in a box. At first it might appear simple but there a good defensive and piece management strategies that can be deployed. Playing as an app though I would expect a good interface and integration with Game Center. Unfortunately these have a way to go. As an example for the interface, you can shuffle the position of the pieces in your hand to help rank by importance for example. But if you're waiting for a player and leave to browse Facebook when you come back the pieces are in the original order, forcing you to reconstruct your whole thought process. As for Game Center, in it horribly put of sync and sometimes I must push ten buttons or so when it alerts me that it's my move to finally get to the game..Version: 1.0.3

✓ Great game unless you want to play onlineCould you please (please, please) do something about how the Qwirkle app connects with friends to play the game online? We just go round and round in circles trying to connect even when on different devices but in the same room and on the same Wifi. It would be better if you weren’t associated with the Game Centre and just connected nearby devices with a simple Host or Join button and a game identity number to type in, like other board game apps. However, playing friends online is limited to playing on iPhone, and adding friends with Game Centre is problematic. ✓ Game is fun but glitchyWe love playing Qwirkle through the app. From the beginning we’ve had intermittent issues with getting invites to show up on the receiving persons game, Usually exiting game completely and coming back in fixes that so it is frustrating but possible. Most recently however, for a little over week, we’ve had issues starting games with each other. The start button is greyed out after I choose my friend for online game. Restarting doesn’t fix this one. The work around is to click on the Game Center icon with color bubbles and send invite that way but then we’re stuck in an endless loop of playing the same game starting move over and over. ✓ Great game, but now not working.I’ve been playing this game for a few years and love it, but over the last week or so I’m finding it really difficult to invite my usual players to new games, and eventually when I do start a new game the other player doesn’t get the game, or when the players do, the tiles don’t refill and so each new game only lasts two or three moves! ✓ One star for lazy expert modeThis is a 5 star game until you start playing expert. That’s because the creators apparently got lazy and, instead of making the level truly expert, they just give the computer the tiles it needs to complete any 5 tile sequence into a qwirkle. Also, if the player gets a qwirkle then the computer gets one right after. I have kept track through many games and these things happen almost every time. It is too frequent to be random or normal. It is just a level that should be labeled “unfair and frustrating” instead of “expert.” I have beaten the expert level but the game is so tilted to the computer that even getting a dozen qwirkles means I only win by 5 points. ✓ Great game, bad bugsGreat implementation of a fun game - but for the bugs that seem rampant now. Within the first month of the app's release it worked just fine and I had about 8 online games open at any given time - but then, quite suddenly, I stopped being alerted while outside the app when it was my turn - or else it would tell me it was my turn but when I entered the app it would appear to still be my opponent's turn ... ✓ It feels rigged against the PlayerI wanted to love this app. I love the original game and was excited to find that there was an app, so I could play anytime I wanted, by myself. I enjoyed the first three levels and saw myself improve. I consider myself a pretty good player, but was NEVER able to win against the “Expert.” In fact, not only did I never win but I typically lost by about 50 points. I didn’t have even one close game. I never felt like I was improving or discovering some strategy that would help me. It’s very discouraging, and took away any desire I had to keep playing. So, I’m deleting the app from my phone. ✓ Could be betterThe game is quite slow compared to other apps. Scoring should be much faster. You also can’t tell which games you have in your list that are waiting for your turn and which games are waiting for your opponent to take a turn. You have to tap each game to see whose turn it is. That is frustrating. The player dashboard is not that user friendly when it comes to starting new games. But, I am glad that this is finally an app on iOS. ✓ Online 2 playersThe game is great, but even though the online option of 2-4 players appears, it's not working. I invited my mom to play with me online, but even when I click 2 players, 4 appear on the game making it impossible for two people to play online games together. There is a drop down bar for "invite friends," but you can't do anything with it. Hopefully the App team for the game will fix these bugs and I can give the game a better rating. It's predictable that it will get Qwirkle if I set it up with 5 tiles, the next move the Robot gets Qwirkle. In the last two days of games I have been playing, the Robot gets 6-7 Qwirkles in a row. I've stopped playing against the Robot and started playing against other Game Center players (including my husband). But to see the robot blatantly win with 60 point advantage over me, that's not fun. And also, there's a glitch in the tiles. Some tiles coming up as non-color or white. The only problem is all the bugs encountered trying to set up games. First, both of us must be on the same network - problematic in hotels where they only let you have one device. The phone data connection to the network does not work. Period. Even when we are logged into our home WiFi, I have to “Invite Friends;” cancel that friend; then pick the same friend from the list of friends; and “Invite Friends” again. Then my wife has to be watching for a banner to show up on her iPad and touch it before it disappears or we have to start over. ✓ The “Expert” Robot Ruins The FunNo one likes cheaters, or unfair advantages, and every negative comment made here about the expert robot is still true. Wildly “lucky” draws that the robot makes, the consistent ability for it to lay down at least two and typically three tiles to your one or two, the predictable Quirkle ruining ( yes I accept that it is a strategic move but dayum ), and the weirdly fortunate way it almost always has just the right tiles for Quirkles while you… you poor schmo, you keep getting the same useless tiles over and over again. A 20 point lead quickly evaporates as the cheating algorithm leaves you to rely on luck more than skill to beat this level. I am not a sore loser but after maybe three wins and twenty five games against the “expert”, I know it’s rigged. If you want to enjoy this game, you can- it is well designed and a lot of fun, worth the price… just don’t expect the expert level to be challenging AND fair..Version: 1.1.0
✓ Problem with creating an online gameThis app hasn’t been updated in awhile and I doubt it will get updated. I really enjoy playing this game however, it is very difficult to create an online game if there is less then 3 people you are inviting. When inviting you click the friend you invite but the start game is grayed out. Another way of doing it is going clicking the game center bubble in the Quckile app, but if your only inviting one person it tries to auto match with 2 other players. It seems to be doing this with each update when I update my iPad and seeing the this app hasn’t been updated in 4 years it makes sense that it wouldn’t be working as it should.Version: 1.1.0

✓ Fun but glitchy!!This game is fun, but the glitches are bad. Sometimes there is an extra piece underneath another piece - and when you move it you can see the one underneath. You can even shuffle them around so essentially you are playing with 7 pieces instead of 6 - which seems like cheating. Another game there was a piece in the middle of the board just kind of hanging there not attached to anything. It doesn’t work to play an online game against a friend you invite. You only get 6 tiles and the bag is empty. Also you often can not see the other player’s move, the tiles disappear. It’s been great to be able to continue to play this game remotely with my during social distancing time. Unfortunately, it’s a very quirky app. One player will play, then be notified that it’s still there turn. Another play will never be notified that it’s their turn and has to go out of the game each time to be able to play. Many times, we’ve had to turn off and restart our iPads to get it to work. Also, when I invite friends to play an online game, they have to have an old game in the queue to close out of in order to see that a new game is pending. Very frustrating! ✓ Great game but some issuesI love this game but the minute I step away and the phone turns off , I lose the game I was playing. Very disappointing. You should be able to continue where you left off. It shouldn’t close the app if your phone shuts off. It’s also upsetting when you play a random player and the random player never returns a play. Since you have to pay for the app you should be able to play all day no problem. We played the physical game but she got sick so we wanted to play each other electronically. We both paid for the app, but couldn’t connect with each other. We’d invite the other, the game would randomly put us in 4-person games we didn’t ask for with other randos (which didn’t even work because no one else played, it was just me and 3 “pending”s, nothing happened till I “resigned” and left) and we couldn’t play a game together. ✓ Waste of moneyEvery game I’ve stated but one, i’ve only got a 6 tile game. No pieces ever fill the bag. When a game is finished it takes you to a screen for a rematch, but it won’t let you hit any buttons to actually start a new game. When you start a game if you pick a friend and delete the autoplayer, it still shows 4 players waiting to take a turn, and no names of players in the game. So many bugs it’s crazy. Waste of money for a game you can’t even play. I played a game that gave me the first move. I played 4 tiles and all was good. After my oponent took his turn, my turn was deleted and the bag tile Count went to 0. So when no it was my turn we wwre back to a 6 tile game and it looked like my oponent ahd the first turn. If you get to a point you can’t play a tile and there are no tiles in the bag, there is no way to pass your turn and no way to exchange tiles. ✓ Not RandomizedThere are two ways to make a game hard. 1. the Robot can play a flawlessly with completely randomized tile selections, or 2. Selection of tiles are not randomized and are manipulated. This games uses the second method. This method oftentimes ruins the fun for me. What is the probability of the Robot getting the sixth tile in a row on the next move seven times in a row after I place a fifth tile? Impossible. Yet it happens frequently. Suggest the inventors revise the game to have Robot play flawlessly rather than making tile selections based upon the score and the tiles I have not played..Version: 1.1.0

Problems with the interface - aside from getting a banner/flag notification from Game Center, the only way to know if it’s your turn is to go into Game Center to see the 🔵. ✓ Be Prepared to Get AngryI love playing this game, and I’ve learned a lot playing this app. Let me start by saying I more often than not beat the robot on the average setting. However, a few things this app does that is very aggravating. First, it will sometimes give you the same shape/color, mostly in the beginning of the game, basically forcing you to trade or wait it out without making many points. Second, and it’s the most aggravating, is ruining a Qwirkle you’ve been patiently waiting for. By this I mean you’ll be sitting on a tile waiting for one to get a Qwirkle. This can go on for many, many turns. When you FINALLY get the tile you’ve been waiting for…especially if it’s a lot of points…the robot will pick just that precise time to ruin the Qwirkle. This hasn’t happened once or twice. It happens a LOT. Now, I know when playing with humans Qwirkles get ruined, but what is so irritating is that it waits until the turn right when you pick that tile. It’s not irritating because I’ll lose the game, but that it is obviously rigged to do this. The app obviously knows which tiles you have, what tiles are left, and which to give the robot so it can ruin your move at the precise time. And don’t bother playing the expert version. It gives all the good tile color/shape combos to the robot..Version: 1.1.0
✓ Room for ImprovementTotally love the physical version of the game, but not too thrilled about paying $2.99 for the e-version due to the following issues: 1) There’s a bug that requires you to restart the app to play an online game already in progress. 2) When you attempt to rematch a solo game (against the Robot), you end up staring at an empty tile rack and the only option is to either resign or return to the Main Menu to begin another game. 3) When you start a new game, the program automatically selects valid tiles for you, but you have to toggle the options to play what you want. I’d like the option to select my own combinations. 4) When you want to swap tiles, you have to drag the tiles exactly over the tile bag icon or it won’t work. Very annoying!! 5) Not sure if I’m able to play friends if they don’t use Apple Game Center...seems silly to have that as a restriction. ✓ Outdated, tired-looking app with some major bugsReally disappointed by the design and playing experience of this app. The basic interface is clunky and dated. I mean, Comic Sans, really? And highlighting player names with a color so dark that the score is illegible. The rematch function doesn’t seem to work for either local or online games. Most irritating of all is the tiresome and counterintuitive way you have to scroll through all of your online games, trying to find the status and where it’s your turn to play. ✓ Good, but needs updateThis is an adequate rendition of a favourite board game. The actual game play is good too. However, the user interface for the managing current games definitely needs attention. Inviting new players is really difficult, often games do not show up on launch because the GameCentre linking is very slow. ✓ GlitchyI love qwirkle and this app is true to the game. Playing online with another person is tough because it doesn't always recognize whose turn it is. Both players might both be waiting for the other to take a turn. Both screens say waiting for another player to take turn. Then you have to force quit the app and open it again. ✓ Good but buggy.This is a faithful recreation of the great board game Qwirkle. However it has some bugs that need addressing. They are; 1) Sometimes a tile in my hand becomes "blurred" which allows me to essentially change other tiles in my hand into an assortment of differently coloured/shaped tiles. 2) sometimes the game will say it's my go, but upon loading the game it's my turn in, it will hang saying it's the other players turn. Selecting another game & then going back to the game it's my turn in usually fixes this but it's annoying. Also I'd like to be able to drag tiles I've placed on the board back to my hand, instead if needing to hit the undo button. Would be much more intuitive. ✓ Updates definitely neededWould be great to be able to nudge players after a certain amount of time. Also, interacting with the other players, via a message board or something during the game, would be nice. Before finishing your turn, would be easier to be able to move a piece to a different spot rather than back to the players rack first. The overall layout of the app is clunky. It is frustrating, however, when it's clear that you've been set up to lose the game. I do not mind losing, I just want competitive play. If I set up five tiles in a row, it's pretty much guaranteed every time that the robot will get Qwirkle. It seems that after winning so many games, you're forced, no matter what, to lose so many games. So it makes me question whether or not I even won originally based on my ability or because the computer decided it was time for me to win. ✓ Robot player needs workI do like the game but don’t like the robot player. I don’t like to be online too much so robot must surfice, and I do beat it most of the time. However, I dislike the way in which the programmers have obviously built into the robot, the knowledge of my tiles. This is not how the game is played. Each opponent has their tiles hidden from each other. If robot knows my tiles, I should in turn know its tiles. Plus robot rarely builds qwirkles and spends most of its game playing blocking possible moves based on my hand, even when an obvious qwirkle is available to it. I miss playing with my friends! — Rematch button doesn’t work — Laborious process to invite friends — when starting a game w. Less than 4 friends, each player gets a hand of tiles and the draw bag is empty so a 2-player game is essentially a 12-TILE game — The “empty bag” glitch is pretty much standard. Maybe one out of every 20 attempts of starting a new game will function properly and can be played out normally. — Sometimes the player who goes second can’t see that any tiles have been played; everything is invisible to them. I really love Qwirkle and have played the app for years. Especiallly for a paid app. Often when it's my turn I need to make the same move about a dozen times before it works. But even worse, I am not able to initiate online games with my friends. ✓ Please update software!After more than two years of online qwirkle to get us through a pandemic, various lockdowns and the rest, we’re all a bit gutted we can no longer start new games. When it first became a problem we found a workaround around by deselecting and reselecting players which activated the capability to start a new game. Sadly this no longer works. ✓ Can’t play on ipad any moreI’ve been playing on my iPad for years and now all of a sudden, my turns do not register. I get an error message window that says cannot complete. My opponent still thinks it’s my turn. If I play on my iPhone it’s fine. I am logged in through Game Center on both devices but my ipad shows no “friends” so I can’t even start a new game with the existing people I play with on my ipad but my iPhone shows everyone. ✓ UPDATE THIS APPI recently have become addicted to the Qwirkle board game and introduced it to my friend. She now loves it and we knew about the app so we both decided to download it so we could play. First off, the app has not been updated since 2014. It causes the app to be extremely slow and glitchy for updated phone users in 2017. When I open my app up it sometimes shows the games I have started and sometimes doesn't, it also says failure to connect to the game center even though my game center id pops up at the top. After about 10 minutes I can actually get my online game open, place the tiles but then says there's been an error???? I find this app extremely frustrating and I would have rated it a 0 if there was an option. We play together now with the app but can't use the online game play at all. We thought this would be a good way to stay in touch and play with one of his older brothers after other passed away but not so. If you send request to join, the link you receive is useless.
