Oral-B for Negative User Reviews

Updated Review - Now workingI received the developer response today and followed their advice to register again but with the same email and password. This worked and has preserved my history, which is good to see. With regards to the app, the new layout is much cleaner , I like the quadrant timer, it makes much more sense to see it like that and helps with brushing more methodically. What I don’t understand is the tongue cleaning mode that is referred to in the fresh breath programme. After the 2 mins expires and you stop and restart the brush, with the prompt for continuing with tongue clean mode, the graphic doesn’t update to include a timer nor does the brush feel like it’s changed the way it’s working. It’s a disjointed instruction to me. Also I find it annoying that flossing is mentioned at the end of the timer. It makes more sense to have it mentioned first, to check it off and then brush? Old review: 1 star. Since the update , it has signed me out and will not let me reset my password. Yet somehow it manages to send me notifications to say it hasn’t seen me in x days..Version: 8.0.2

Update for the appI like the old version better, at least I could read a little bit of news.Version: 8.0.2

Inaccurate zones in io brushThe 3D ai function for the IO brush has 16 zones but the borders of the zones are inaccurate I am still on the sides and it thinks I’m at the front every time. Easy to miss those teeth or you just spend an extra 30 seconds brushing. No way you can complete it in 2 minutes flat without conpromising Also often randomly changes to a different location on the other side and stays there until I move the brush around.m to get it to register..Version: 8.7

Can do betterWe just updated our old oral b tooth brush with the latest top of the range Genius 9000. Yet again it’s a great tooth brush, expensive but good. As for the app in my opinion it falls short of expectations, for starters you can only set up one user with the app so if like us the family use the handset with our own toothbrush heads it’s useless unless you all take your phones with you to clean your teeth, what a faff. The other thing I personally don’t get is why you need to know the weather, news, play songs etc which are all available should you need them you can have the news in pictures if you want, I just want to clean my teeth. Personally I would have preferred to have a timer in with the toothbrush as at the moment we don’t use the app, that and the fact I don’t really like taking my mobile phone with me to the bathroom, I spend enough time with it during the day..Version: 5.0.0

Terrible Compared to Old AppThe new update to this app could be your downfall. It’s honestly terrible in comparison to the old app. They took out the news and updates. Medals have been taken out as well. The biggest issue for me is that the old app worked whether you had a Bluetooth toothbrush or not. I don’t have a Bluetooth toothbrush and this app no longer works with my brush. Please go back to the old app..Version: 8.0.4

I like the toothbrush but the app is crapAt first I liked it. But then I started coming across the issues. It’s supposed to sync any brushing you do without the app. But that is spotty, and even if it shows a synced session in my activity, it doesn’t get counted for my streaks. And you can’t add in if you flossed or mouthwash. I shouldn’t have to open my phone every time I want to brush my teeth, I don’t have that kind of time. Sometimes during a session, I have to pause to rinse or get stuff out of my braces. Even if I resume before the 30 second window is up, the full session does not always get logged. Also, I’ve had to stop using the position detection after it simply stopped recognizing when I brushed the left side of my mouth on the FOURTH DAY of using the brush. For some reason, it always thinks I’m brushing the right side of my mouth. It’s literally impossible to complete a session at 100%! And whenever I’m brushing my bottom middle teeth, it thinks I am doing both the top middle and bottom middle at the same time. How would that even be possible? If I pay too much attention to the graphic and not to what I’m actually doing, that can lead to me actually missing the areas that it thinks I’m brushing but really not..Version: 6.0.1

Impractical so farI only got the smart 5000 toothbrush the other day and loved the idea of this app but so far it seems to just be impractical. It doesn’t seem to save my settings between brushes after it’s been turned off, so I have to reconfigure the brush modes and segments before every single use. This is beyond painful and a bit ridiculous as it removed the ability for my brush to change between settings on its own either so I can’t even use it how I want to if I ignore the app, as it HAS to be reconfigured so I can use the sensitive setting instead of only daily clean. I love the concept but so far it’s just proving disappointing. Especially considering this was a very pricey purchase and I have never owned an electric toothbrush like this before. You would think it would at least be able to save settings and actually be used without spending time between each use to reset everything.Version: 8.7

Format change and positionDon’t like updates automatically and the camera position doesn’t always work.Version: 8.0.3

More then one person on app neededWe have a number of people (children without phones) who need their history kept on this app. There seems to be no way to record multiple histories on this app. Which is a big shame because that is the reason why I bought your toothbrushes with Bluetooth for my family..Version: 9.2.1

Rarely Do I ReviewGuys. What is up with this update? Did anyone test it? 1) You took away the feed, like weather and news, so now it just is a timer ( more on your brush detection later) 2) You took away the words of encouragement. While not necessary as an adult, it was nice and it’s great for kids 3) After I’m done brushing, it tries to reopen another brush session; close session, it reopens; repeat. I have to close the app manually after I brush my teeth. 4) No more customization of when I want reminders of flossing and mouthwash. I don’t floss in the morning bc I haven’t eaten since last brush. This make me feel like I’m being negligent. 5) You basically removed the features that made it feel like a game and were being rewarded. Silly? Maybe, but this is an app for brushing your teeth. You’re literally capitalizing on the video game/tech generations. 6) I thought you might improve the detection mode, but no. It’s still a very small window/ angle to capture it, so basically sticking my phone dead smack center in the middle of my mirror. Please re-instate the features before this update. You literally added nothing new, made it less usable, and gained nothing from a user-POV. If I could revert back to the previous version, I would..Version: 8.0.3

Underwhelming So FarI purchased an Oral-B Smart 1 toothbrush, hoping that the smart coaching would help me improve my brushing. To be fair, I do like the toothbrush and think it is good quality as far as a basic electric toothbrush goes. But as far as I can see the app only keeps track of when I’ve brushed, flossed, gargled, cleaned my tongue, how long I have brushed for, and if I’ve used too much pressure. The sensor for detecting too much pressure is somewhat useful, but I was expecting more actual coaching for what I paid. If I only wanted to track my tooth-brushing and use a timer I could have done that myself with my prior toothbrush and a timer and notebook. It also would be great if this app had an Apple Watch extension. Having to take the phone into the bathroom and ensure the app is open every time I brush is proving a clunky process. Hopefully as I continue to use the app I might find it more useful. But so far I am underwhelmed..Version: 9.2.1

Bad UpdateHave been using Oral b e/toothbrushes for a number of years. What I like about them is that they are utilitarian and the software underlines the thought process into developing the devices. However my opinion has changed with respect to the software having the io 10 the recent update has introduced a increase pressure in addition to the already reduce pressure whilst using. The algorithm used to measure coverage and usage has also been tweaked. My dentist advised me that you will not get the coverage you need in the allotted 2 mins given and it may mean 3 mins or so to get the results required. Braun have now introduced a new way of measuring the above and no matter your coverage if you don’t stick to the 2 mins you will be scored poorly. You may ask why this is important well I would respond what is the point of the software unless it is an aid to the user of a £400 brush. Braun have totally ruined the experience and purpose to the extent you constantly get increase pressure indicator on app this is both annoying and really disconcerting A total waste of an app and in context it is possibly the worst iteration of update Braun/Oral b have introduced. Cannot therefore recommend your products based on the above..Version: 9.4.1

Needs improvementAn app with lots of potential. 1. No option to manually add flossing, rinsing, and tongue cleaning. Also adding a timer for rinsing would be very helpful. 2. The position detection does not always work properly. 3. No HealthKit support. 4. App needs to provide instruction/guidance when used at first as it takes time to get used to..Version: 7.2

Why do I have to have the app open? While I understand that the main purpose is to ensure you are brushing correctly, I also appreciate purely the tracking history and length of brush time. I don’t always have time to get my phone, open the app and then start brushing. Why can’t the app track that the brush has been used and for how long without having to open it at the time of brushing? It’s connected to Bluetooth, I’m sure it can detect on without opening the app.Version: 9.7.2

This app seriously needs fixing! In theory, the app is great. In reality, not so. It doesn’t run smoothly and for a while, it would force close immediately after I finished a brushing session. Don’t even get me started on the accuracy of the streaks. Periodically, it logs me out of my Oral-B Me account which is very frustrating as I usually forget my password. It takes about 10 minutes for the email with the password reset link to come through which isn’t too long really but feels like forever when I’m waiting for it. When I finally log back in again, I find I have to reselect my goals and app settings. The app also never remembers when I changed my brush head which means I constantly get reminders to change it even when I have told it that I am using a brand new one. I’m excited when I see the app has been updated but every time none of the bugs have been fixed or there just seems to be more issues. It seriously needs some work on it. I’ve had it for over 2 years now and I’m just experiencing the same issues over and over again! It’s just app I use to brush my teeth - it shouldn’t have to be such an inconvenience! To answer your questions, I have the Genius 9000 toothbrush and an iPhone 11 running iOS 13.4.1. The firmware is SW-Version 11 and P-Version 3..Version: 7.3

Terrible appI clean me teeth everyday, twice sometimes three times. However this app regularly loses my data. I connected it to the Apple health app at the start of the month so at least my data is reliably stored there. Yesterday I had a 15 day streak (inaccurate but still...). This morning somehow before my brushing session it reported I had an 8 day streak and after brushing it now says I have a 3 day streak. Looking at the data in the app I can see that it has randomly deleted the data from some of the days. Looking in the Apple health app the data is all still there so at this point it is more of a reliable reference than the Oral-B app itself (unfortunately it doesn’t store flossing and rinsing data). Please sort this out otherwise it’s pointless having an app. Ps This has been happening since the latest download. I noticed with the latest sync from this morning it now thinks that on some days I cleaned my teeth 10 times!! I’m running an iPhone pro with the latest public IOS version (ie not a beta version). My toothbrush is an Oral B Braun Triumph (that is the only identifiable marking on it). Firmware version says SW-version 5, P-version: 1 Hope that helps! PPS OS version is 13.3.1 The numbers on the base of my handle are: R 441 R2332 And by the way - it now thinks I cleaned my teeth as much as 26 times on certain days..Version: 7.3

Great idea… needs some workThe idea of a smart toothbrush is a great idea, especially for the kids. It’s really painful to try to get them to (a) brush regularly and (b) brush properly. On that side I give this a thumbs up. However, the app is extremely buggy. It regularly has issues logging the right time and date. Maybe because in Australia Timezone? Apparently my 10 yo brushed 5 times on Wednesday and not a all on Tuesday?? Once they fixed those issues it will be 5 star product (which I would expect given Oral B is a 5 star brand.).Version: 8.7

App with potentialPosition detection doesn’t work very well, which is a downer, cause I really like that, but it results in me getting low scores and not getting achievements and not properly tracking my brushing so it’s almost like what’s even the point of using the app?? App needs a rework.Version: 8.0.2

Would be great if consistently workedEdit**** I have had a brand new iPhone for a couple months now. Everything is up to date. Unfortunately the app is still extremely inconsistent, the timer often stopping after less than a minute of brushing. And also for whatever reason the tracking of days brushed is never the same as the rest. Right now flossed, rinsed, and clean tongue are all at 284 day streak, but brushing is at 14 days. My son is the one who uses this app and it’s extremely frustrating to him, and me, that it can’t correctly track the number of days brushed. Also we have found that the app preforms terribly when trying to do any of the journeys. At this point we are ready to just use the regular timer on my phone and delete this app. In theory this is a great app. I have it for my son to use and when it actually works it’s been great. The problem is how inconsistent it is in actually working. It often will stop mid session or not even recognize a session sometimes. The brushing streak should be the same as all the others, but it keeps going back to zero and he has to start over. Which it just did again recently and it seriously upset him. For the rest he is at 124 days, yet for brushing he it is showing as only 7 days. When the app works it’s great, it just has so many issues that I’m about ready to just delete the app and find a different way to track his progress. My phone and the app are both currently updated and it hasn’t resolved any of the issues..Version: 5.2.1

It’s frustratingI enjoy the idea of the app as I can track my progress of my oral teeth care, however I have experienced a continual frustration where I am actively brushing one side of my mouth, and it decides to detect me brushing the other side of my mouth. Sometimes no matter how hard I try to get the detection to where I am actively brushing it doesn’t work. I have redownloaded the app, and try to stat still but nothing works. I also had an event where I accidentally pressed new head for my toothbrush and it reset when I was using the same brush head so now it’s inaccurately telling me when to replace my brush head. Could you maybe please add an undo button for the toothbrush head swap? Thanks, and I really do think the app is a good idea. Just needs a but of fixing up :).Version: 9.0

Date and time changeIt’s an amazing app, but for some reason the date is off for the history part. It’s telling me the date is December 31 1999, when cleverly it’s July 10, 2022. But for the replacement date of the brush head, it’s accurate. And no option to change the date..Version: 9.1

App needs work, brush is amazingWhile the app is a great idea, it is lacking in accuracy. Many times over the last six months of brushing it will show brushing on the opposite side of the mouth or on a section next to where brushing happens. This leads to extensive brushing over one area trying to get the app to catch up, while the area you haven’t brushed yet shows completed. The app is sometimes slow to activate after beginning to brush and occasionally does not activate at all. If you are trying to score your brushing, these shortcomings become frustrating. Finally, the app will on occasion say you are brushing too hard simply when you are changing position in your mouth- when the head isn’t touching anything. I have seen the app report too hard when the brush indicates blue (for too light). I am only reviewing the app here; the brush itself is fantastic! I would highly recommend the brush itself. I switched to it from years of sonicare and am a convert! Five stars for the brush, but only three for the very lackluster app..Version: 8.4

Teething problemsThe send your feedback option in the app just redirects me to the company’s homepage. The tongue clean program is not recognised as an extra when doing my normal routine. It asks me to tick a box? Why? I just activated the program and ran it for 30 sec so if the AI was intelligent it would know. Instead it thinks I should “do better next time” as it was under 2min when the tongue clean is supposed to be only 30 sec. Similarly, when I run the brush to clean it using running water, it thinks another session has started. Lots of teething problems. How about you do some participatory design and user research of how people brush their teeth. Then you’d identify these problems immediately..Version: 8.0.5

I don’t get this appI echo all the other poor reviews on this app. I don’t see any benefit from the AI functionality and I have a top of the range brush. If it uses the camera to monitor progress either provide users with better instructions on how it is supposed to work or improve the functionality. The “coaching” is poor....nothing meaningful just “great job”. Perhaps tips or guides on how to brush or floss well would add some value. I feel mislead by the advertising in the box that talks about AI functionality given my experience. It would be nice to see the developers or Oral B engage with the users and reviewers so we could feel our feedback is being heard. I rarely take the time to provide a review on a poor app but given how could this concept could beand how poor it is I felt compelled to add my voice to the others and hopefully have the feedback heard..Version: 8.2.6

Maybe it’s meIt’s possible I’m missing something here, but I can't seem to get past the first few pages of the app where Philip asks me if l’d like to send them my dental information, including data on my cavities, plaq buildup and bleeding gums. They tell me they'll be using the information about my brushing habits to offer me products. No...It doesn't say that the information will be used in the way one would reasonably expect (to allow the app to give you feedback on brush pressure, time spent brushing, etc.). Oh, did I say it *asks you? I meant that it gives you no other choice. Sure, it says "I'll do this later" at the bottom of the screen, which would be a nice option. But when you click that it brings you to another screen that pressures you further into agreeing to share your information, and then sends you right back to the previous screen! There is absolutely no way to opt out. In the age of digital data malpractice, you'd think Phillips would respect the customer enough to actually give them the option of whether they want to send some company data on my dental goals. I mean, who makes dental goals, let alone dental goals they'd want to share with Phillips!?.Version: 7.3

Disappointing but PromosingI upgraded to an Oral-B iO Series 9 recently (from an Oral-B 3000 purchased several years ago). I was excited at first to use the app to help guide my brushing and provide better overall oral health. I already floss, brush my tongue, and rinse twice daily so nothing to improve upon there... First, let’s face it, turning on your phone and launching an app just to brush your teeth is cumbersome at best. We use our phones for most everything now.. Do we really need it to invade yet another part of our lives? Second, the app does an an absolutely HORRID job at tracking the brush’s position in my mouth. Often times it detect my upper teeth instead of my lower teeth and constantly signally over pressure due to how I grip my toothbrush. A brushing that should normally take just two minutes takes upwards of three just because I found myself going over areas multiple times to get the app to detect it. That would lead to gum bleeding. Deleted the app today. The brush is a great brush but the app needs LOTS of work!!!.Version: 8.2.4

Useless camera featureUpdate 25 Jan: no response from the developer... I've had the Genius 9000 for over 1 month now and don't at all use the app any more, because it is too awkward and the phone bracket that you have to attach to the mirror sticks out like a sore thumb. Is there any way to use the device that I have still from my previous Oral-B (with the smiley face) with the Genius 9000? That certainly is much more useful than your app. My initial review 1 month ago: Aligning your face with the app is impossible - unless you brush at least a meter away from your sink and make a mess in the bathroom. Following the requests to have your face within the field it wants it means mess everywhere as you won't be able to brush over the sink (unless it's 2 meters deep). There is no way to zoom out. Sorry, but why develop something that is not usable in reality! Wouldn't you test it before putting an app out there? The Genius 9000 isn't a cheap toothbrush and I kind of expect to be able to use the advertised features it comes with!.Version: 5.0.1

Was great, now won’t connect!I’ve had my tooth toothbrush for over a year. Although a pain having to open the app every time to monitor brushing/results, or sync every couple of weeks, it was working well. A few weeks ago, the brush wouldn’t connect to my phone. I deleted that pairing and set it up again although it took a few attempts and was working fine. Now, the same thing. When I connect the handle, the phone finds it when I switch the brush on but then cannot connect properly to complete the set up. Uninstalled the app thereby deleting all my history and reinstalled, still no good. A new app is coming apparently, hopefully that may fix the issue?.Version: 7.3

Hate the app since the 8.0 updateI do not like being forced to record the coverage percentage. I know I brush all 4 quadrants for 30 seconds per quadrant, however this is recorded incorrectly almost every time. I want to switch off the coverage option and this doesn’t seem to be possible. Please can they make this optional. I was happy with the previous app. I do no want to brush my teeth looking directly at my phone and I do not want to be chastised after each brush. I was given a handy bit of advice on how to switch of position detection. That helped and I appreciate it. However a few weeks later it seems the app will only record the odd session and the rest of the time pretends I didn’t brush for long enough or not at all. The app was fine for years and is now terrible, which is a shame. I also appreciate the second attempt to help resolve the issues. It intermittently syncs my sessions so some are missed and sometimes records them shorter than they were. Is there an easier and more direct way to speak to someone from P&G rather than through a review?.Version: 8.1.1

3D Tracking is disappointing (still undeveloped)I think that the main feature of this app is the real time support with the iO series 9 toothbrush. The rest of the app is just a statistic collection and an habit tracker. Nice (till the third week), good UI looking, but the only interesting feature, the 3D tracking, simply doesn’t work good. It’s still immature: it’s because of the firmware of the toothbrush, of course. Hoping for a fixing upgrade soon. Most of the times, it doesn’t recognize which area I’m brushing and which side of the teeth (external, internal) and this distracts me and I brush for more than 3 mins (when I should stay around 2 mins at least). OralB doesn’t provide a proper explanation of how the sensors are supposed to work and how I should start and move the toothbrush — I read the other developer’s replies and tried all the suggestions but it doesn’t work. It’s a shame that I’ve spent €200 for the only feature justified my purchases, and that gives to series 9 the premium slot between the all iO series, but it seems not working smoothly..Version: 8.7

Oral B App makes the io success as failureI bought the oral b io series 6 last week and the brushing experience and cleanliness is great. But the app is misleading in terms of coverage. I bought the io series for extraordinary experience as mentioned in the Oral-B website. And i specifically went for higher model to get app guidance to get better oral higene. But the app makes it fail. As it shows right and left side while brushing. It’s not just a swap of right with left, but it goes interchangeably left to right then left to right sides within same brushing time. It makes the stats shown and collected for percentages, challenges are all to be a false information shown inturn it fails the brushing as i am getting confused and loosing track which side is left to brush. I did not expect this from a brand Oral-B. It would be helpful to get a response from Oral-B for the money spent on my Oral-B io series 6..Version: 9.1

Needs lots of workI’ve had the Oral B 7000 Pro for more than four months. It has been a good addition for my oral health care. So why only one star? Because it is becoming increasingly frustrating to use the brush and the app. There are two main deficiencies. I’d gladly reconsider my rating if the following are taken care of. (1) At ever brushing now the brush keeps reminding me to change the brush head EVEN THOUGH I have already done that. There must be some way to tell the app that I’ve changed the brush head. Ideally, the brush and app should be smart enough to know that I’ve installed a new brush head. I will NOT sign up with Oral B for a new brush head automatically every three months. I don’t need to do that. (2) The app is inconsistent on many days. Approximately 1/3 of the time I use the brush, it does not allow me to record that I have cleaned my tongue, flossed, and rinsed. It goes straight from brushing to the activity screen showing how many minutes I brushed and showing zero for the other activities. Oral B, fix these two very frustrating deficiencies, or advise me what to do, and I’ll reconsider my 1 star rating..Version: 5.2.1

Improvement neededThe app syncs well and easily with the toothbrush. The position recognition is not always reliable, sometimes indicating the opposite side of where the brush is being used and sometimes not advancing as the brush advances. The app syncs with the Apple Health app, after lots of user input, but does not provide any useful information. Flossing and rinsing cannot be added manually. The app indicates the brush head should be replaced after three months - but indicates this after only two months of use. The app seems to have potential to be useful, but needs a bit more programming work..Version: 7.3

Mildly misleading in what it doesWhile I find the app easy to use, the toothbrush tracking is a really a gimmick. It’s pretty inaccurate and relies on the camera and a excellent view I assume, rather than anything in the toothbrush connected to the app. Kinda wish I hadn’t spent all the money on the toothbrush now..Version: 8.7

Guided brushing isn’t accurate for meI consciously did all my teeth for 2mins yet the app guide said I only cleaned 77%. With the tongue cleaning part there was no timer for when cleaning the tongue..Version: 8.7

A great app that just constantly fails to deliverI bought the toothbrush and downloaded the app quite excited that it would be a really useful and interesting way to track and improve dental health. I am constantly amazed by how a potentially great app can so consistently be a disappointment. The login details continually disappear so I needed to re-enter them. I then got a message advising me I needed to re-enter them but wouldn't let enter them as it said the password was wrong. I then couldn't reset the password online as it said I didn't have an account, and when I tried to apply for an account it said I already had one. I'm since re-registered with a different email. I know keep getting the Daily pop-up when I use the account prompting me to apply for the product warranty extension, even though I have already completed and had the email confirming it on my new email address and old one. The stats keep disappearing every few days for teeth cleaning, flossing, tongue clean and rinse or resetting to either 0 or random numbers rather than what I have actually used it for. I regards the whole Oral-B electric toothbrush and online account as a compete waste of time and money and am going back to using a normal conventional toothbrush. I wish I could give Oral-B zero stars..Version: 5.2.1

The Position Detection needs work! The position detection algorithm needs work. The detection area is too small and constantly tells me that I’m out of position. I’m using this with an iPhone XS, so the camera shouldn’t be an issue. I’m 6’3” and have positioned the phone holder at various positions, and within minutes of brushing the app tell me that I’m not in position even when I haven’t moved my face. It needs a larger face detection area on the phone or it needs a feedback device on the screen when you are about to leave the detection area..Version: 7.0.1

High hopes, low outcomeI’m currently struggling with gum issues and downloaded the app to help improve and educate my routine. I don’t have a Bluetooth brush and assumed it would be fine as I could still follow the timers, check in and get advice. Sadly the timer doesn’t even start meaning all the tracking info, brush status and coaching is useless. A pity because it’s a beautiful, well designed app - coming from a UX/UI researcher.Version: 8.1.1

Waste of Space (updated review)Waste of app space and I deleted in the end. Using the app as a motivation for good habits doesn't work as you have to have your phone with you every time if you want to add flossing, tongue cleaning and rinsing stats - you can't add those unless it sees you've just brushed. And unless you add them within a few seconds, it assumes you didn't do them so if you rinse your toothbrush and dry your hands before going to the phone you lose the opportunity. Then there's the timer not starting from zero everytime so if you pause to reset the timer, you get a "free" extra brush stat for the full minute of the previous night's brush..Version: 3.1

Used to be goodI purchased a 9000 series to help encourage me to brush regularly and completely. This worked fine for about 6 months until the latest update. Oral-B in their infinite wisdom decided to remove the camera tracking for the brush position detection. Yesterday I had one section of my mouth that was recorded as brushed before the toothbrush had even touched a tooth in that area. Today wasn’t much better but it was detecting the wrong position for about 60% of the brush time. As someone who requires repetition and consistency to ensure I maintain healthy habits, this update is putting my teeth cleaning at risk. Prior to the latest update I would have given 4 stars, but now it’s a worthless app. I’d prefer to follow this up directly with the company, but their support system redirects me to the local sales page so I have no way to give feedback..Version: 9.5.0

App gets worse with each new releaseI can only conclude that they use a sandwich student each time they develop a new version. One who has not been briefed on usage or gained any feedback of what users are interested in. Gone is the simple summary with numbers on how many times Cleaned, flossed, etc. Now we see have bars for everything and useless information like I brushed at 06:11 and 22:34. Who cares. I want simple stats, simple user interface and none of the rubbish that’s written in the app blurb or I get from the app. I don’t want to be told off for brushing too long. I always brush in excess of 2 mins and invariably more than 3. I don’t want the brushing timer to pop up before I’ve had time to analyse what I’ve done. The latest update now doesn’t even start automatically and I had to press start brushing. You have taken a good app and turned it into a nanny, hectoring users rather keeping the message simple. A great toothbrush with now a very poor app to support it..Version: 8.0.2

Upgrade to iO for a better experienceBrushing limited to maximum 5 minutes Does not auto detect starting of brushing as you need to press brush now button Before 8.4 with Truimph 9000 Countdown timer does not always work whilst brushing App devalues the brushing experience Records incorrect brushing time frequently Reported to contact centre but was more interested in going home than fixing my problem as they pretended not to be able to hear me to end the call New modern dark mode interface Can brush longer than 6 minutes.Version: 8.4

Constant source of frustrationI have a black Genius 9000 and found the feature of the position detection quite interesting. However even with numerous updates (mostly cosmetics in my view) it is for me a constant source of frustration. Initially it starts to work reasonably well though certain areas (for me lower left corner) are always awkward in the detection. Over time the accuracy seems to deteriorate. Recalibration of the camera picture has an erratic effect for me. There seems to be no weighting in the algorithm that if detection is not accurate the probability of brushing areas that already have been fully covered is less likely. Further frustration is the session handling. There is no way to edit the session again and edit tongue cleaning (why is this not detected automatically) etc. once one has left the session, which in the new design is easily done be accident. Even in the brushing part one should be able to pause and resume At least in the new version the deleting seems to work as expected. Could be useful but ....Version: 8.0.5

This app is becoming painful to useThis started out as a good app but recently it just contains lots of bugs. The app is telling me every time I open it that I need to replace my toothbrush head even though I have and selected replaced it still comes up all the time (dismiss and go to shop do nothing either). The timer keeps stopping at random times so it’s saying that I haven’t brushed for long enough when I have (sometimes syncing the handle helps but not always). If you try to delete a session to sort out the timings it is just painful! You select the time you want to delete and it only asks if you want to delete a different session and not the one you actually want to delete. There is no point having a streak of brushing sessions when they aren’t even accurate. Luckily you can still amend the brushing time etc and sync it to the toothbrush handle so you can just brush normally and your toothbrush can tell you when the times up and forget this app exists until it’s updated!.Version: 6.0.1

Well-designed but some issues. The app looks great, has strong features and seems well designed. Unfortunately this is all let down by really poor position detection during brushing. No matter what I do I cannot get the stupid app to recognise when I’m brushing the top right quadrant of my mouth. I spend extra time on it and KNOW it’s getting cleaned out but never get scored for it. This totally skews coaching tips and ruins the whole app experience. Really frustrating and a big let down considering it’s designed to accompany a relatively expensive luxury product..Version: 8.3

Horrible updateI definitely preferred the previous version. I was able to use the timer and read news and facts while brushing. Now it is mandatory to use the camera on my phone to brush which is hard for me when I am in the bathroom with my toddler who wants me to sit when we are brushing. Also, I had to create a new login because I couldn’t log in with my email and password. It kept saying error when I tried and the forgot password function didn’t work either. Please bring back the previous version functionality and options..Version: 8.0.2

Hopeless. Don’t bother with it.My Oral B IO toothbrush died after just over four years and, given its cost, I couldn’t justify spending a lot on a toothbrush that wears out this quickly, (although I prefer the small head size of Orals). So I bought an Oral B Genius 8000 on one of the (suspiciously frequent) special offer periods. The toothbrush seems fine. However I had to change app from the Oral B IO to the standard app. This boasts movement tracking ‘without the camera’. This element does not work and cannot even be described as an early beta version. It has no clue where the head is most of the time and frequently thinks I’m brushing my righthand teeth when I’m brushing my left. To add insult to injury, after a diligent three minutes of brushing (which the IO app described as ‘Excellent - don’t change anything’) I now get a score of no more than 79% and moans that I need to go back and do bits again! Unlike the IO version I can’t see a way to get it to be just a simple timer without the blood pressure raising tracking bit. I don’t know who the developer (called P&G Healthcare) is in the scheme of things but they seem to be in the same league as Fujitsu, who provided the Post Office with their software!.Version: 9.7.3

Pas assez précisSe trompe d’endroit quand je me brosse les dent.Version: 9.7.2

Bad UpdateHorrible update. Doesn’t track properly, no calendar, no news...what’s to like? Please go back to the old version!.Version: 8.0.3

It was good, but now it’s a failureThat’s my first day using the app (iPhone 7) and the Genius X brush. I noticed the app usually times out and ends the session by itself even though I haven’t turned off the brush. I usually spend more than 2 minutes brushing my teeth. Reading the other reviews, I noticed this is a known bug that hasn’t been fixed yet! That bug messes up my coverage percentage and it’s really annoying. Update: It’s been two weeks using the app now. Data, numbers, streaks get completely clobbered and messed up. I usually brush 3 times a day, the “results” section shows 7 or 13, any non sense number. That’s after a few days of syncing. It’s usually accurate on “today”, but all previous results/day are wrong. Update: - My iOS version is 13.3.1 (iPhone 7) - Genius X firmware version is: SW-Version 4, P-Version 4 Update: - I got a new iPhone SE. While brushing, the app stops capturing brushing activity after 20 seconds of starting a session. It still notices pressure sensors, but not brushing. That’s consistent. I tried with my old iPhone 7 again and yet works fine. iOS version for SE is 13.4 Update: Same problems I experienced and reported for iPhone 7 persist on the new iPhone SE. The only problem that doesn’t exist on iPhone 7 is the one I reported for SE, which is that the app doesn’t detect/respond to brushing activity after a few seconds. Brushing coverage is hence completely ruined..Version: 7.3

Features missingPlease include integration with Apple Health.Version: 7.1.3

Poor position detectionI have used this app with my brush sporadically over the last few months. T biggest reason I don’t use it frequently is that the position detections is so terrible, I end up spending up to 5-6 minutes on brushing my teeth that should only take 2mins, just to get the app to recognize that I’ve brush all my teeth. I should be able to double-tap on a quadrant to correct the app when it shows the wrong area being brushed if they are not going to improve the position detection.Version: 9.1.1

Upgrade? Retrograde more like.So upgraded to version 8.0.2 and now sessions no longer synchronise. The app can see the brush. Can’t manually force it to synchronise. It is also possible to get it into a loop whereby the only way out is to reboot my iPad. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling to no effect. Rubbish. ============================ Upgraded to 8.0.4 but no difference. I can connect to the handle and change the colour and the brushing time but it will not synchronise. If it is not supposed to work with an iPad why does it say it is compatible under Information/compatibility on the app site? It is an iPad 4 using iPadOS 13.6. ============================= Model is Genius X - D706 (6 mode) Firmware version is 4 ============================= I decided to try using my iPhone instead of my iPad with 8.05 and the auto sync worked so decided to stay with that for now. Then the app updated to 8.1.1 and lo and behold auto sync has now stopped working on that. As Gru’s mother would say, ‘that was an epic fail’. Using IOS 13.7. ============================= I have updated the iPad to 8.1.1 but it still doesn’t work. The phone is an iPhone 7. ============================= Updated 15/11 Updated to 8.1.2 but still does not auto sync and has not done so since 13/9 on either iPhone or iPad. What bug fixes have been carried out cos you haven’t fixed this one. Bring back version 7..Version: 8.1.2

Previous version was betterAfter using the current version for a couple of weeks I just deleted it. It’s inaccurate and annoying..Version: 8.0.2

App is to be desiredI wanted to change my toothbrush as I was using a monthly subscription company and I wanted a solid toothbrush with an app to go with it to ensure that I was giving all areas in my mouth the attention it deserved. I chose the Genius X toothbrush because of its great look design and it featured modes that I was looking for in a smart toothbrush with a good looking app to go with it. The toothbrush itself is great but the app is something to be desired. The position detection / coaching in the app (which is the main reason I got the toothbrush in the first place) doesn’t accurately track the position. I can be on one side of my mouth and the app will show I am on the opposite or not show that I am brushing at all and it will be that way for a solid 10 to 15 seconds before finally recognizing the correct area I’m on. The app needs a serious update to remedy this issue to which reading other reviews has similar complaints. I spent a good deal of money for that toothbrush and if the app doesn’t work then I just wasted money on something that does a job similarly to the more cheaper models..Version: 7.3

Buyer BewareTo use the “smart” features of your iO toothbrush, you have to agree to give uo your privacy. This company will collect personal information, health information, and other personal PRIVATE details if you want to use the “smart” feature, ie the brush assist app. Ridiculous. Why a company needs information (including, if you have children, what or how many diapers your child uses - um…?) and information from the health app including your basic information (ehight, weight, etc). They will use it all to market to you AND they share it with 3rd partys. Read their privacy policy and understand what you are giving up. Not only that, but when you buy the actual toothbrush, they indicate features without warning you that to use them, you need to agree to this total invasion of privacy. Ive deleted the app. I wish i could have my money back from the toothbrush purchase as you simply cant use the product as advertised without agreeing to their privacy policy. We should all be paying attention to what these companies are requiring and make sure you are making educated choices about what info you actually want to give up. I’m really not sure at all how height/weight/heart rate/bp etc are in any way necessary to advise you if you have covered all the teeth in your mouth when brushing! smh..Version: 8.7

Misleading -False advertisingAlthough the oral b 6000N Smart 6 electric toothbrush states on the box and on the website I purchased from that there is a colour custom smart ring - which does not work and no option to change this in anyway. The app it self isn’t what’s shown on the advertisement of this product. There is no screen on the app to select the smart ring colour change, there is no screen showing you the 5 different modes to change how you want to clean your teeth (as shown in the images) There is no screen with the image of the teeth showing you what you have brushed and have left to brush. There’s only a timer showing you how long you have been brushing for. None of the images adverted on the App Store for the Orab B App is what I’ve received when I’ve downloaded!!! And don’t get me started on the fact that the images on advertising from Oral B show the 5 brushing mode icon on the front of the toothbrush model which light up. So it’s easy to see your modes and select what u need. This is not what I received, there’s nothing on the tooth brush. All in all - everything is misleading and I’m very disappointed and disgusted by this as it’s ruined my experience. I just want what was advised to me, and what I purchased to be of the correct item and quality. I would like answers from Orabl B, and these issues to be resolved urgently as I’ve only had this for 1 week and had high hopes for this. Thank you.Version: 8.1.1

Complicated app and not monitoringThis app is too compartmented not very user friendly. Above all there is no monitoring feature that links to Apple Healthkit..Version: 7.2.1

App does not work since its latest updateAlong with other users, I had problems with the Oral B app following updating my IPhone 6 Plus to iOS 10 - the app's timer facility did not work, stopping at any time between about 20 and 40 seconds, implying I was not brushing properly, despite the timer supplied with my Oral B Professional 6000 proving I was brushing for at least the minimum recommended 2 minutes. This issue was rectified with a subsequent update of the app, and all worked well again... until this latest update of the app. When I commence brushing, the app shows there are 20 seconds left in my brushing session - and will not count any further, therefore again implying I am not brushing for at least the recommended time, despite my supplied timer proving otherwise. If I could, I would give this version of the app no stars. Sort it out, Oral B - I don't want fancy tricks like news/weather alerts/photos or the ability to play music while I brush, just an app for which the intended functionality (monitoring brushing) works properly!!!!!!! I will not use the app again until this is properly sorted out, and in fact am contemplating changing to a different brush brand..Version: 5.0.0

An extra star since recent updateApp update this week has fixed the issues with the app losing connection and not registering coverage correctly so you can go put it would stars now, however I am still having issues in that when using the app the timer is totally ignored. I don’t get any feedback on the brush handle and the timer on the app just goes on and on and on regardless of what I set but if I don’t use the app then I get vibration feedback in the brush handle as I expect and it sticks to the timer settings Further info as requested: In the app under settings->toothbrush handle you can enable vibrate which states that it vibrates the toothbrush handle as an indicator to move on to the next quadrant. When I don’t use the app at all, toothbrush handle vibrates. When I use the app toothbrush handle doesn’t vibrate and if I set timer for 2 mins or 3 mins or any time I want I would expect the toothbrush handle to vibrate at the end of time and also for the timer to stop in the app but it doesn’t, it just keeps going and going Further response: I only get the stuttering in the toothbrush handle when I DONT open the app and connect the two. As soon as app is in use and timer runs, no stuttering.Version: 7.2

Sonicare user but not thrilled with Oral BSonicare has some hiccups with their app for awhile. It’s a lot better now, but I never had issues creating an account or with my sessions staying in the app. I got the Genius X toothbrush today and it took me resetting my password four times to finally get logged in to the app. I don’t know if Oral B doesn’t like symbols in the password field or what but it was a painful process getting enrolled. I went to brush my teeth tonight and I’m not that impressed with the Genius X. Sonicare’s app is very, very clear where you need to brush (the area is highlighted and it’s filled in if you brush right), you know when you need to switch locations because the brush handle vibrates and there’s a visible countdown on the app. Maybe older versions of the Oral B handle vibrated, but mine doesn’t. I do think the brush cleans well, but I think the app could do a better job letting you know how much time you have left in each location. Thus far, I’m not impressed..Version: 7.2

The latest oral b app update version 8.6 is not performing as well as previous versionI’m pleased with the oral b toothbrush overall as it provides me with a balanced brushing routine. But it is only as good as the software and the updates provided. Lately each version seems to have glitches and oral b don’t seem to respond to the comments and feedback you provide. Version 8.6 is frustrating. I will be brushing my bottom right teeth but the screen is showing I’m brushing the bottom left side. The same is happening with the upper teeth. No matter what solution I try it doesn’t work. There’s not the same problem with the front teeth which as I brush it is showing correct coverage of the top and bottom teeth as I brush. It seems the software is not syncing properly with the camera. The Bluetooth connectivity seems to be inconsistent as well which doesn’t help either..Version: 8.6

Not great at detectionI had this app a few years ago and worked up a lot of streaks, awards and data. Around a years worth or so. Then one day it just stopped working and I emailed and unfortunately lost all my data :( So I deleted the app. I recently downloaded it again and have been using it for a week or so. The app is constantly saying “make sure face is in view”. But doesn’t show me where my Face is? So it’s a matter of guess work and I’m spending more time doing that than actually brushing my teeth because I’m so focused to get it to pick up my face because the app never correctly gets where I am brushing. And due to trying to get my face picked up and the app to know exactly where in my mouth it is. I’m not brushing properly. It’s incredibly frustrating to be brushing one part of your mouth and the app is detecting you brushing over the other side!.Version: 8.2.1

App was better beforeBefore the last two latest updates the app was much better as we got to choose a journey and showed us where we wanted to whiten our teeth and gave us time to do it. Now it doesn’t even give any time to whiten and and doesn’t give us the option to choose where we want to whiten and doesn’t even show us the diagram. Can you please bring this feature back and give us time to brush our teeth during the journeys we take. And show us the diagram in front of it. And bring back reminders after brushing our teeth like “did you brush your tongue”, “did you use mouth wash” and “did you floss” Not liking the 2 latest update what so ever. Please bring it back to how it was. Preferred that theme. Don’t like using the app anymore because of blue they don’t take the journeys seriously anymore and don’t give us extra time for brushing during our journeys and doesn’t even show where to brush during our journeys. It would be nice to have the feature where the timer is up and the brush is telling us where else to brush our teeth. Not just showing us how long we have left. Please fix these issues so you have more regular participating users on your app. Thank you, Samya Aktar Proud user since 2017..Version: 7.3

Very inaccurate trackingI’m brushing one corner of my mouth and the brush is telling me that I’m brushing in a completely opposite corner… better off not using the app at all.Version: 9.7.3

First Electric toothbrush I’ve purchased in 10 yearsOral b smart 1, to be completely honest I’m a little disappointed. All the fancy packaging and advertising it’s not living up to expectations. Battery life and charge rate… going from Ni-mh to new Li-on Fail it charges as slowly as the old brush, the funny thing I noticed is the charging base is exactly the same as my old brush lol. when I say exactly I mean literally, same model number and specs… oh dear lord.. just yuk!.Version: 9.7.4

Issues with syncingI have used my new toothbrush and this app consistently for a month so far and every day when it syncs, it adds additional sessions to the previous days so it’s basically showing that the first day I used it (used it twice) now says I brushed my teeth 42 times that day. This messes up things like data sent to Apple Health and of course impacts when the brush head needs changing and it’s incredibly frustrating because I deleted many many sessions to make it all normalized and correct and when the brush syncs during a session, they all come back again and in some cases add more sessions to some days and it’s getting really ridiculous. I may just not use the app at all. What is more, I floss, brush my tongue and use mouth wash each night with the evening reminders I have set and it only stays as 1x for each for that day for about a day or two, and then erases them so essentially I cannot make any day streaks in doing those activities either even though I’ve done them every single day for like at least 40 days. Anyways, I love my tooth brush but the app is just not going to be worth my time if it’s going to mess up data and add extra/remove data for no reason and not allowing me to edit it. This really needs work..Version: 7.3

Temperamental but good conceptI switched to an Oral B and opted for the 9000 Genius Cross-Action as it was on sale. I liked the Bluetooth capability and love that it links to Apple Health. The initial set up is quick and easy, so getting started wasn’t a problem. I have mounted my phone up on the mirror and tried to keep my face aligned, but it’s easy to move out of range causing it to lose your position. Also find that when brushing quadrants, it sometimes doesn’t pick up when I’ve moved sides, or will move to the wrong area, causing inconsistencies with my coverage data. I do like the app and I know it could be much better. It would be good if you could keep the camera on so you can keep your face in line, and something needs to be done about the position tracker as it does not seem to be very accurate at all..Version: 8.2.1

Need a iPad version of this appNeed and update version of this ap.Version: 8.2.1

Doesn’t do what it saysMany functions don’t seem to work with an iphone7 + genius 9000. Toothbrush head time left doesn’t work. Tracking of what areas of your teeth that have been brushed is very inaccurate. Doesn’t always ask if you have rinsed/flossed or cleaned you’re tongue... The app does remember back when you brushed if you didn’t have the app on. Maybe I’m not using it correctly?.Version: 8.1.1

Still no history sync from the brush to the appDo you realize how ridiculous it is to take a phone in the bathroom and manually record a session? It synced great before this major update and it is still not working after the minor updates..Version: 8.0.2

Needs a LOT of workEvery time I switch modes after brushing my teeth, and go to tongue brush, my teeth brush results are cancelled as through it weren’t recording it with the motion technology. I also get random notifications when home alone sitting in bed telling me that I’m brushing too hard?! It does not explain properly how to use it and is essentially useless. Sad because the premise is so good and so is the toothbrush. You should not have released this app before making sure it works and is user friendly. Go back and do it again!.Version: 7.2.1

Great UI on new update but needs to iron out bugsSeems much more issues friendly and works a bit more seamless, identifying where I am in my breathing regime and calculates how many hours left for using my current tooth brush. However I can’t seem to log in so it’s not able to sync my information to my account. Even though it’s synced my info in the update on my current gum health challenge, when I brush my teeth it doesn’t show the correct timer & it doesn’t now give me the option of confirming flossing, tongue brushing etc... so it’s not logging it. Very annoying, not sure why you’d release a really buggy version again. The version before was quite bad as well. 🤷🏾‍♂️.Version: 8.0.2

Great App - Could Use Some TweakingOverall, I love how the app tracks the time I’m spending on my teeth. There are also motivational factors like the reminders, the badges, etc. I feel like it helps me to be a little more thorough. Honestly, who knew how big of a difference tracking your teeth brushing would make! What I don’t like is that I actually have to open the app for a brushing cycle to be counted, when know the toothbrush is actually timing because if you open the app mid brush, it picks up at the correct time. Missed brushes should also be able to be logged for the days I’m traveling and using regular toothbrush or when you’re just not by your phone to open the app. It can be glitchy at times. During one brush cycle, I was in the two minute range before stopping the brush. When I stopped it, it some how reverted to 1:17..... then showing that I didn’t reach the 2min goal, and dragging the average down. I guess all this is not that big of a deal considering I’ve brushed my teeth for 30 years without app tracking. Lol.Version: 7.1.3

Overpriced toothbrush with a timerI’ve had the Oral B “Smart” toothbrush now for several months. I was super excited at first for the Position Detection but it never works correctly even when I use “the Oral B way of brushing.” Always shows a different place from where I’m actually brushing. Takes waaaaay too long to get the 100% clean to show and it can’t be good for teeth or gums to brush that long. So I turned that off and have just been using the 2 minute timer. Except now the timer shows an extra unguided session with a time stamp of 2-6 minutes before I’ve started brushing, opened the app or even walked into the bathroom!?! What’s that about?!? My next step will be to stop using the app at all and just ask my Alexa device to set a 2 minute timer when I’m ready to brush. I could have done that with my previous electric toothbrush and saved a lot of money, time and frustration. And yes I have the latest app version installed. I see lots of similar complaints and the same “sorry about that, call us” answer. How about instead of pat answers, just address and fix the issues with the app? The end..Version: 9.2

Multiple usersThe app struggles with multiple users. The only way it changes is if you select setting change the colour, then change it back to your own colour. Then it saves the entire data of other users onto your phone, which you then have to delete. Meanwhile, with all this extra steps, it’s made me late for work. If you select start brushing on the app and start the device, it should pair up and know which user is brushing via the app..Version: 5.1.0

Could be a 5 Star app.The new version of the app looks really good but it also has a lot of bugs to be fixed. The first bug that needs fixing is the app says I’m doing the evening session when I’m brushing in the morning and the morning session in the evening. 2nd bug that needs fixing is after brushing teeth it won’t go back to the home screen without having to close the app down and reopen it. Please fix these issues and this could be a great app again..Version: 8.0.2

Not as accurate as beforeAfter the last update the guided brushing isn’t as accurate as it was. Numerous times the app thinks the toothbrush is on the opposite side of my mouth, doesn’t matter if it is upper or lower. This is frustrating, as one has to waste time moving either the toothbrush, one’s head or phone to a new location/position in an attempt to get the app to work properly. Toothbrush is an iO9.Version: 9.5.2

HopefulI absolutely was the biggest fan of this or I’ll be up until this last couple of weeks for some reason whenever I try to brush my teeth and use the 3-D brush recognition after about two minutes or anytime really during the time I’m brushing it says I didn’t get a side and doesn’t recognize whenever I am on that side I’ve been up to almost 5 minutes even when I’m not supposed to be brushing that long trying to figure out what it is that it’s not seeing i’m not sure how to fix this and I’m hoping that someone from Oral-B can help please I don’t have teeth in the areas in which the brush says I’m missing that area please fix this !! As it always says you missed area do better yet I can’t miss an area I don’t have teeth to brush in that’s a big issue , also I now have Invisalign and it should notice I have attachments that I am brushing as well , incorporate that into your 3-d model along with missing teeth then you will be five stars you only do braces at this time.Version: 8.1.1

AI?If this is the best “AI” can do, we have nothing to fear about Robots taking over the world. It is so often inaccurate with my top-end new toothbrush, that it is really annoying..Version: 7.3

Very unhappyI don’t know if I can truly express how disappointed I am in this app. The main frustration is how poor it is at detecting where I’m brushing. I don’t fault Oral-B for not being able to get this right, but they shouldn’t release an app with this feature until it is correct. As I brush my teeth, the app shows certain teeth on a display being brushed. It is often near where I am, but it is not exact, and then it claims that I missed teeth and wants to upload that information to my health app. The next most frustrating part is that, while my toothbrush divides my teeth into four quadrants (upper left, upper right, lower left, lower right) with 30 second buzzes to let me know when to change, the app divides my teeth into six quadrants (upper left, upper middle, upper, right, lower, left, lower, middle, lower, right), so there is a disconnect between how the app is instructing me to brush and how my handle buzzer is instructing me to change quadrants. Then comes to settings – the instructions and the description talks about changing the lighting and other things, none of which are able to be changed. the instructions and other settings direct you to use the website for help, but the website only provides vague general info. it is nice that the app shows you the amount of battery strength and will track when you need to charge your handle or change out your brush head, but I wonder if I will really need those reminders.Version: 9.3.1

Good idea but.....This is a great app, but it needs to have multiple apps to one handset with profiles set up. I think most families would use one toothbrush with multiple heads. However this app and the new bluetooth handsets seem to be designed for individual use only. There's no way to break down who brushed when..Version: 2.1.1

Time is not correctThis app doesn’t record time in history correctly..Version: 9.7.3

Disappointed previous app was betterI’ve been using the app for a while and really liked the previous version yes there were some minor issues but the new version is worse. Yes the design is appealing and the look and new features which I’ve yet to explore look interesting but functionality has changed. Previously you would get a wait period 30 sec to pause brushing now when you reach the 2 min mark and pause it shuts the session down even if you’re yet to complete an area so my scores are lower than they should be and brush is incomplete (according to the app) the wait period still exists but I’ve only seen it work during the beginning of the brush session. Also I liked the previous version where I could spend time on my lower front teeth then upper almost separately. The previous app acknowledged that better.Version: 8.0.3

What is the point of reviewing if you don’t listenThe previous version worked well for two people using the same handle. Now it does not. I get all of my wife’s sessions as well as mine. The review I see on AppStore says this. It is two years old. I have said this in a previous review. I gave that one two stars. This is a last try at one star. Please listen. Or write an explanation why it cannot be done. After this attempt I am left with only the option of a new brand of toothbrush.Version: 8.2

Great concept, but falls short.I’ve only used it a couple days and I love the idea, but the fact that you need to remain in the camera is almost impossible as you cannot see yourself after the initial setup. I wish you could see yourself throughout the process with the mouth superimposed over your “reflection.Version: 9.0

Okay app, interesting conceptI like the idea of the app, but there are some features I’m not sure about. Like, the app does not know if I have brushes my teeth and prompts me because it doesn’t sync unless the app is open and the toothbrush is on. Also, my daughter also uses this toothbrush, but I don’t think I can create a profile for her tooth brushing. That said, you it is fun to “gamify” tooth brushing and it makes me remember to floss, so that is good..Version: 7.2.1

Very glitchy and inconsistent appPlease please fix the app, oh my it was so much $$$ 😭🥺 I mostly bought this model for the extra advertised features and functions because I have receding gums and was willing to make the investment, but it’s so disappointing atm. I would recommended to anyone to just buy the standard model, the extra claims of this one don’t deliver (at the moment, I’m still holding out hope the app will be continually improved and it will be worth it 🙏🏻🙏🏻🥴❤️😅).Version: 8.0.5

It has the potential but right now it lacks so much.First, I must state the I am a disabled Air Force Veteran and was given the Oral-B(R) Genius [powered by Braun(R)] Professional Exclusive Rechargeable Toothbrush as a free gift from an organization that has and will continue to take care of my teeth. They are not influencing my opinion and my opinions do not reflect on anything or anyone other my own views and experiences. Lastly, while getting used to using an electronic toothbrush I decided to go ahead and use it with the accompanying app, of which is the app that I am writing about here…The Oral-B app & the Oral-B Fun Zone app, which is and extension of the first. While the toothbrush is Bluetooth SMART and capable of connecting to a smartphone that has the Oral-B app, it seems to me the that there is an issue with either the app or the connection or something else but as I follow the instructions that were includeOd with the toothbrush and in doing so the toothbrush and app don’t seem to talk to each other very well. When using the app with face detection on my iPhone 8 Plus there is no ability to see your face or progress that it is supposed to be tracking. The timer stops even though I’m still brushing and then says I need to work on brushing that area better. So that then makes all the data that it’s gathering from me brushing kinda useless. So this app and toothbrush are just not ready yet to be out in the wild. They need more work before they go mainstream..Version: 7.2.1

Toothbrush awesome. App too inconsistent.I’ve tried deleting the app and downloaded it again but it still has too many annoying bugs. I’ve just brushed my teeth for over 3 minutes and it said I should try to brush for longer (it registered 30 seconds). Not the first time that’s happened. Also prior to my deleting and reinstalling the app was actually causing the settings in the brush to glitch. I’d set it to intensive or some other setting and within seconds it’d default back to the daily clean setting. Very annoying. However it’s a huge improvement on the 9000 app where you had to use the camera on your phone. Hopefully they’ll fix the bugs soon.Version: 8.0.5

Some features just don’t workThe app is really good at connecting to a brush and syncing, and it’s great at giving apple health its data. However, the rest is not so reliable. The detection of which quadrant you are brushing worked flawlessly for about a week, then just stopped with a very specific bug. It starts showing you are brushing a different quadrant to the one you actually are, always a mirror of it, either too to bottom or side to side. Then after a second or so it will flick to showing you brushing the correct quadrant. But it will not ever move off that quadrant, no matter what, so you get a low brushing score because it thinks you spent 3mins hammering just a few teeth and ignoring the rest. I tried resetting my phone, nothing, I tried reinstalling the app and it did the same thing but this time accurately followed me brushing my lower teeth but wouldn’t record me brushing the upper teeth. Considering this AI feature is being advertised heavily on their high end brushes, for what I’m actually getting, I may as well just gone with a cheaper one. Also the achievements don’t work at all, but I don’t care about those..Version: 7.3

Becoming uselessSeems the recent version updates are not able to carry along data on age of your brush heads and replacement reminders. Making the app a bit useless..Version: 8.5.1

Lost Functionality After Last UpdateAfter the last update the app no longer syncs with my brush handle properly and sessions held on the handle no longer transfer to my phone. I have now lost weeks of brushing sessions as I don’t have my phone with me every time I brush. My handle also no longer works with the clock/time I have from a pervious brush handle. Sine the app no longer works properly there is almost no reason to use the app anymore as I cannot track my brushing properly unless I have my phone every time I brush. Please roll back to the pervious version as the new one is useless. From looking at pervious reviews I am not the only one not happy with this new app..Version: 8.0.2

Even more buggy since update - disappointing.Since the update I don’t think the timer has managed to record a full session. I use the ‘deep clean’ function and brush for 3 mins +, but the timer always seems to stop before 2 mins and I get a disappointing result even though I’m still brushing. I had quite a few awards before the update and some of them seem to have transferred (I got a mass reward after my first clean using the new app) but not all. I had the ‘early riser’ award before which seems to have disappeared. I’m also missing the daily streak aspect which seems to have been deleted in this latest version. I can see the developers were trying to modernise this app but it’s now more clunky than ever. I have to manually start the timer whereas before I could make sure my toothbrush had synced and then the timer would start when I started brushing. This app leaves an awful lot to be desired now. I used to enjoy using it but now it’s really a chore..Version: 8.0.3

Camera tracking? The app is supposed to track your brush. But is has a mind of its own and can be the other side of your mouth or will not go to a part of your mouth as you brush. To get full coverage you might need to brush for over 3 minutes and then it still might not show full coverage. The only good thing about it is that it makes YOU think more about your brushing..Version: 9.2

The app has more holes than my teeth! All joking aside, while my Oral-B toothbrush is doing a good job of cleaning, this app really needs improvement. The simple job of tracking brushing sessions while active, and syncing old sessions, just fails to work most of the time. In some cases manually attempting to sync adds *some* sessions, while at other times it does nothing, or (in at least one case) actually *removed* sessions from the app!.Version: 6.0.1

ThT not really goodThat make my teeth so much clean also it need bit more better.Version: 9.7.3

Good but frustratingI would give this app a higher rating if it weren't for the few glitches that really bother me. I used to have a genius X toothbrush, which unfortunately died recently. While using the app, it often mistook my movements for a different area of my mouth. I assumed it was because of the toothbrush, but even after buying a new genius X, the issue persisted. Additionally, it's nearly impossible to achieve complete coverage in just two minutes - my brushing time always ends up around two minutes and 13 seconds. I decided to upgrade to an IO, but the tracking on this app is even worse. It fails to acknowledge when I'm brushing the middle top of my mouth, unless I brush my upper and lower teeth together. Don't get me wrong, I really like the idea of being able to see where I'm brushing, and it definitely motivates me to maintain good dental hygiene. However, these glitches are incredibly frustrating!.Version: 9.5.2

Great idea, Shame about the actual uxGreat idea but so inaccurate at times and even more frustrating is that when switching between settings on the toothbrush, you lose the previous few minutes results as it only calculates latest. Example. Going from a standard brush for 3 minutes to a tongue clean for 30 secs results in no record because it was too short - so what about my previous 3 minutes? Also, position detection is so poor. No matter how much I try, I can never get it to record one side of brushing and as a result, lower percentage of results. If you’re trying to get people to brush by numbers, which is great in this digital world, then fix the bugs. Additional after developer request: You can’t pick which brush style you want from a standing start so you have to start a regular brush and then use the down arrow to select, which wipes out previous brush then warns you about too little time to record etc. The app I e given up on based on percentage achievement, if I had OCD I would fall apart before my day has started. I use an iPhone XS Max with latest software that came out a few weeks ago, 12.4 I think... pre iOS 13. Again, great idea, but judging by reviews, needs work... good luck. OH, BIG ONE HERE... WE CANT SHARE THE BRUSH BETWEEN US (ME AND MRS), ANYWAY TO FIX THIS?.Version: 7.1.2

A little bit dissatisfiedI bought 5 electric brush to check how my 4 children are brushing their teeth controlling them by this app. The reality is that my kids and I realize that while brushing the app isn’t able to follow the movements properly. First of all when the brush is on the left side of the month it shows the right part on the app; when up it says down; I spent up to 4 minutes trying to get the 100% coverage and it was impossible. The idea is pretty cool but it doesn’t work as it should be. Additionally I spend always at least 2 minutes brushing my teeth and the app sometimes understand that I was brushing them for less than 1 minute. If the app wasn’t used, the brush cannot hold the info for more than two or three days. A nightmare having the phone attached to my body 24 hours a day… why don’t you develop a device to be left in the bathroom so the phone is not needed. Please improve the app so it is able to follow the movements properly. Tks!.Version: 8.5

Can’t log in to Oral-B MeI’m not sure if it is working really as supposed to. The brush on the other hand is awesome. When I try to login I see in red writing information that my login and password are incorrect and that I should try again or click the link below to creat new account. Please not I created the account via my Mac because it didn’t work via the app. The model of tooth brush is Genius 9000. I don’t know how to check the firmware version but I’ve bought it in UK. I use iPhone XR with latest OS up to date as updates are released. It would be great if the app works as intended. So if you need any more info back from the user of the app please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you - wish you great success. Awesome idea to create a smart toothbrush..Version: 7.3

Need to fixThe fact that I bought the more expensive model for the Bluetooth tracking and having it not work probably is extremely annoying. Sometimes its brushing the completely different side according to the app. Please fix it….Version: 9.2

App is cr**The toothbrush seems to work well, which is a positive and it pairs easily to the phone (another good thing) but the functionality of the app is useless. Rather too frequently it shows that I’m brushing on the OPPOSITE side of my mouth to where my toothbrush is. How am I supposed to use the feedback to brush effectively when the feedback is straight out wrong. It’s not helped by me having only 7 teeth in each quadrant and there is no way to adjust for this. Utterly rubbish. I only continue using the app as it makes less mess than when the toothbrush buzzes at the end of 30s. For me it’s a glorified timer and nothing more. Please fix it up..Version: 9.2.1

V8 release broke everything and made data hard to readV8 broke everything. Session syncing has been broken since release, if it does sync it condenses into a day rather than spread over a week or otherwise just doesn’t sync. The old 7.3 version of the app also told you when it was connected and syncing and how many sessions it synced where the new one just spins like it’s stalled/frozen and then it stops and you don’t know if it’s done so you restart app thinking it’s broken and then lose all the sessions or have it sync weirdly. The data is also in a very hard to understand format in V8 when compared to the ease of 7.3 like the calendar layout of days brushed and the daily/weekly time&pressure graph which I cannot find in V8. Its all just a big jumble and not easy to use at all. The notification of “we haven’t seen you in two days” or “we haven’t seen you in 10 days” are also missing from V8 which I used as a reminder to sync the session data and charge my toothbrush if it wasn’t already flat yet, so am unhappy about that missing since V8 too. Quite simply, if it ain’t broke then why try to fix it with a breaking major overhaul!? I want V7.3 back!.Version: 8.0.5

Not working with iphone xsIt says it's connected, and to start brushing to begin tutorial, I do and nothing happens, please fix this asap.Version: 6.0.1

You’ll hate brushing more after this app.**App has improved so I’m changing my rating from one start to three** Previous review: New update didn’t sync old stats. Calendar view is gone so historical data is presented in a unintuitive list view. Also there has never been a way to input floss, rinse, tongue cleaning unless you open the app and use it throughout a brushing session. Too time consuming for most brushing occasions. Pretty disappointed because the only reason I picked this toothbrush was for the app and the app is literally not useful at all especially now that there is no calendar record. The main goal of the app it seems is to tell you whether you brushed enough in certain areas but even that doesn’t work, often times it misreads where I’m brushing no matter how precisely I align my face to the camera. That whole camera thing makes brushing more aggravating than it needs to be. Moreover the brush already vibrates to tell you when to switch areas making the camera coverage and score feature gimmicky at best..Version: 8.4

This app is so frustrating and glitchy!!This app is so frustrating!! The first time using “position detection” the app worked perfectly, but now whenever I use “position detection” it will say at the end: “sessions less than 30 seconds will not be counted” even though I’ve brushed my teeth for nearly three minutes, stayed within the area and everything else has worked fine. I will then have to turn my toothbrush back on and it will sync the session like a normal session (not position detection, so I won’t get a score!). It will also sync random sessions that haven’t actually happened; it will show three sessions for a day, when I know I’ve only brushed my teeth and use the toothbrush twice. Also, there’s a glitch when trying to delete the sessions - you have to select the session above the session you actually want to delete, which makes it impossible to delete the first session of the day! It would also be nice to see individual sessions, not a summary of the whole day. It’s just really frustrating because the app has so much potential - this was one of the main reasons for me purchasing the Oral-B Genius 9000. The app glitches are ruining the whole product for me. Please fix it!!!.Version: 6.0.2

A few issuesSo the idea of this is awesome and really it mostly has nice user friendly features. But it never seems to record any of my actual sessions. During the brushing it’s great and I love it. The problems really come down to if the app closes before you click done you lose everything. Tonight for example I was all the way to the brushing my tongue step and my phone locked because it was so long. So I lost that entire session. Also took me a while to figure out I had to stop the brush before moving to the next phase or I’d lose my progress. Just some text telling you what to do next would be nice ie. ‘Tap complete to move to next phase’. A little more user experience guidance type thing. Another issue I have is that whenever I brush the backs(inners) of my molars it always seems to think I’m brushing my front teeth. So it starts counting there when I haven’t even brushed them yet. Those are my only real complaints. The rest is just regular suggestion feedback. Some more detail would be nice for the journeys. Like my daughters braces. I’d like to see recommendations on more than just settings for the brush like the motion of the brush, like circular, etc..Version: 7.3

STILL SYNCS AWFULLYWe’ve had two of these costly toothbrushes in our household since the first of January. I’ve held off leaving a review in hopes the persistent bugs with syncing days with repeating rather than merging data over and over again would be fixed. Unfortunately with the update just released the same problems persist. It’s pretty infuriating. It’s great that it syncs now with Apple health but not great that Apple health is getting all of that bad duplicate data. I’ve methodically deleted out all repeated sessions that caused some days to look like I had over 45 minutes of teeth brushing but it keeps getting added back in. And developers, please don’t respond to me with pat suggestions that I’m not syncing the app and brush with Bluetooth correctly. I am well versed in how to do that. It’s shameful that a major company has put forth such a buggy app. A primary reason we purchased the toothbrushes was the ability to sync with an app. If I had known it was this bad, I’d not have bought them and I’d get a refund if I still could. I can’t recommend them to friends either. Fix this awful app!.Version: 7.3

I thought that the problems were all my faultBut alas, I’m not alone. The app promised so much! Well, in conjunction with the expensive toothbrush that I have purchased for me and my wife. But it cannot deliver on its promises. As another reviewer has said, two people have two different phones, but this app is unable to sync properly with both devices. Either one, but not both. And when I’m brushing my teeth, is it that difficult for the app to work out which segment is being brushed? Top right segment does not come close to the bottom left. That was today. Yesterday it was something different. There’s no consistency. It’s just as well that I know what part of my mouth I’m brushing. This app certainly doesn’t..Version: 8.3

Needs complete overhaulTerrible upgrade. Totally useless No longer user friendly. Took away all user features I’ve deleted the app.Version: 8.0.1

Terrible for “outdated” toothbrushI bought an oral B electric toothbrush and love it. Cool thing? It came with Bluetooth which connected with an app and had some nifty features like position detection and an automatic timer. Then I accidentally did an update for the app and suddenly, the brush I paid over $100 for six months ago is unable to work with position detection without the camera, and I need to update my toothbrush(ie, purchase a new one) Seriously?!? I can deal without position detection, but it’s terribly annoying that it does not automatically start the timer when you turn on the brush with the app open. You have to turn it on, tap ok, tap brush now, and start brushing in ten seconds, or it says it needs to restart and you have to tap ok, then brush now AGAIN. And if you have the brush on, you have to turn it OFF, then hit brush now, then it starts the timer from however long you’ve been brushing….. well, it’s annoying. The older version was way better. I was also upset that all the data fro the six months I had been brushing was lost, and the data reset starting from the date of the app update. Just a PIA. The app is ok otherwise..Version: 8.5.1

Needs workThere needs to be an option to teach it your brushing style. It is rarely accurate, showing that I am brushing in a different area than I am. It should be simple to allow you to correct it by touching the section of teeth that you are actually brushing. It would then become far more accurate over time. I am now brushing for far longer than I should, just so I can get complete coverage on the app..Version: 9.2

Great Brush, OK AppLet me start off with how much I LOVE the toothbrush. I got the Genius X for my birthday this year. I love the accountability of the app and how I can track my progress and set challenges. However, I have a couple of problems with the app... 1. The position detection aspect does NOT work well. I feel I have to spend extra time on certain teeth in my mouth in order to get “credit” for coverage of that general area which I worry could damage my enamel. Suggestion: allow the user to tap on the correct part of the mouth on the app to redirect it. 2. After I finish brushing my teeth, I am asked if I want to proceed with brushing my tongue. I found out the hard way that if I say “sure, let’s do this!” my credit/progress for brushing my teeth gets erased. 3. I’m working on my flossing game - there is not an easy way to record gum bleeding after flossing, at least not that I’ve been able to find. So I feel my “gum health challenge” in the app is not actually tracking my progress. In the long run, these are not issues that would cause me to return the toothbrush - the clean I get is amazing - BUT I’m pretty disappointed in the some of the app functionality. I love the idea of the app, I just wish it worked better..Version: 8.2.6

Language is wrongApp uses the region eating instead of language setting… This means if you want to use your phone on the metro in Japan and you set your region to Japanese to do so even if you keep your language as English while every other app stays as English this app for some reason swaps to Japanese. Also the contact dev link is dead….Version: 7.0.1

AwfulIf I could give it a negation star I would. 1. Camera positioning: most difficult 2. Previous progress and medals: gone 3. No option to manually add routines: sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t Go back to the old app or fix this one! People have paid a lot of money for this product and we expect it to work as advertised.Version: 8.0.3

Great Toothbrush let down by an annoying appI purchased the iO9 toothbrush, which is great if expensive, but this accompanying app is bit of a let down. The morning brushing session show up as evening sessions, and vice-versa, which also results in the guided sessions for your dental journeys suggest the wrong steps. The brush comes with two brush heads, but when sharing with another person, there’s no way to do that within the app. You can’t assign the brush head icon to yourself for easy identification, or a custom colour. The other user’s brushing sessions show up on your phone as unguided session, which throws off the calculations for brush head usage, and you have to manually delete them. Have to delete them a second time if your syncing with Apple Health. Not really worth the effort really..Version: 8.7

Poor programmingThis app is ridiculous. If you pause brushing even for a second after 2 minutes it assumes you are done and turning it on it to finish an area gets treated like a whole other brushing session. If an app tell the user a section is missed, the whole point would be to then brush that section but if you do you get a sad face and a failing score on your brushing that is then automatically added to your history and averaged in - even if you don’t select save. The missed section is still treated as missed in the first brushing and the brushing done seconds after of just that section is treated as a terrible job where you’ve missed the rest of your mouth. Likewise is you start brushing before the phone makes the connection and it picks up half way through. There really should be a way to choose “touch up” for a brushing done after the main brushing. This wouldn’t be hard to program. In addition to the stats being useless because of the poor programming, the toothbrush seems to have difficulty knowing which teeth you are brushing, thinking you are brushing a section you aren’t. This is a harder problem to fix. Update: Thanks for the company response. Data can be manually deleted by swiping in the history when the data is nonsense, so that’s something..Version: 9.7.3

App could be betterThe pressure the app asks for in the toothbrush is much harder than expected. I think if you have bonding or veneers it reads pressure differently. Also once you set a goal you can’t switch to another one until the first one is complete. And the app doesn’t indicate which side of a tooth (inner or outer) it thinks you have to brush more.Version: 9.7.2

A little frustratingI cannot count the times that I have set the camera up supposedly successfully, but when I brush my teeth it fails to register that I am brushing especially on my left side. I brush the top and sides with no registered success. It was bad with the old version but even worse with this one. I move my head, close my mouth, open my mouth but with no result. It then says, even though I know that I have been brushing my teeth , that I do not have 100% coverage. So frustrating. I liked the old app as it was obvious where things were and what your brushing streak was. At least now my sessions without guiding are being registered more often than previously. I actually feel that I brush my teeth better without using the app than with it..Version: 8.0.3

Disappointing if you have 2 handlesI’d give 5 stars for the app if I had one handle and didn’t share the handle with my wife. However I travel a lot and have two handles - one I share with my wife in the bathroom and another I have packed in my travel bag always ready to go. The problems are: * the app can only connect to one handle and I have to reconnect when I swap handles * the app can’t distinguish between differently user phones and I get my wife synced sessions as well (ie, I get 4 sessions on my app per day which looks like I am overbrushing). Seems reasonably simple. Each handle has its own Bluetooth address and the phone app also had its own unique ID. From here it’s only software. Oral-B fix these issues and I’ll give you 5 stars!.Version: 5.1.0

Not quite working for meRefuses to Bluetooth connect with Oral-B 7000. Sound activated only, which can easily stop halfway though pausing if not close enough..Version: 4.0

Great for the itty ones, not so much for people who want simpleI bought a new toofbrush! (to replace my olde one which died. until two weeks after i bought the new one -- now i gots two!) the new one? yay! blootoof! the app? not so much. i only want a simple timer. this app, however, has got so much extra stuff, and some if it can't be truned off, that it's more off-putting than useful. i don't need (or want) a coach congratulating me on brushing for three minutes. i don't want local weather. i don't need running averages of time spent brushing. i just want a timer -- so i've abandoned the app and just use the timer in me phone; perfect. hwvr, if you have young ones or want weather and headlines streamed or gardening tips whilst you brush, then sure, 5 stars. works like a charm..Version: 7.3

The app used to work fine, now it’s a disastrous!Until the latest update on the telephones the Oral-B app used to work somewhat satisfactorily. It had glitches, but even so, typically I could get it to work. This last month however has been an absolute disaster. Let me preface this by saying that I count on this product to help remind me and hold me accountable. 100+ dollars for a toothbrush is no small charge, not to mention replacing the heads at approximately five dollars apiece. All of that being said I didn’t mind when the app would at least sink and work. Of late however the only way I can get the app to work at all is to not open it until just before I turn off my toothbrush and then, sometimes, the app will sink and gather my information. Note, that the emphasis is on “Sometimes!” The issue became so problematic That yesterday I went to my dentist and complained, they took back the toothbrush and exchanged it for another one, certain, that the problem lay in the Bluetooth connection with the toothbrush. I set up the new toothbrush yesterday, alas no, the problem is not with the toothbrush and it Bluetooth connection, but rather with the app itself. If you can’t fix it, and you don’t do so soon I’ll just return the unit and go back to something less technical. My husband is rather frustrated at hearing me hollering at my toothbrush three times a day. It’s not good for my blood pressure..Version: 6.0.1

ModerateIt cuts me of well I am in the middle of my brush.Version: 9.7.3

I kind of feel cheatedI own a Bluetooth enabled smart toothbrush. (I’m not entirely sure what the model is but it has four modes, and I guess five if you include the “regular mode” which isn’t shown on the brush itself. It also includes a light ring on the top. With this app, I used to be able to customize to my liking including changing the color of it, monitoring its status, and even reading the news and weather in the morning. With the rollout of their Guide brush, they have shifted that ability over to the Oral B connect. My brush itself has similar capabilities as the Guide, but I bought this brush after the smart base was introduced so it refuses to connect to the app. While the base incorporates Alexa and has cool features and I have considered switching, my brush is very much in good condition and there is no solid reason why I should switch. I miss the customization. I thought it was fun and almost got me excited to brush (it sounds nerdy but it’s true). I think it was completely wrong to remove that. Don’t fall into the marketing trick. It’s not worth it. However, despite all of this, the regular app is ok. The position detection is very touchy. I ended up having to brush for almost five minutes for it to register that I had touched all parts of my mouth. This app does keep a log which is nice, but it needs some improvement..Version: 8.2.6

Good idea but poor performanceThe overall concept of the app to encourage correct brushing is great, even for adults. However the face detection part just doesn’t work. It worked fine the first week, and now I have to adjust the camera every time and still it won’t show the correct section as being brushed. Utterly frustrating as your brushing efficiency and score average go down even if you know you have brushed correctly and for a lot longer than required due to app not working. At least you could introduce a ‘delete’ session option as I am annoyed it goes against my records that I am a poor brusher. I wanted to get my teenager daughters new toothbrushes with this feature to ensure correct oral hygiene, however I think the fault in the app will be contro productive because of the frustrating face (non) detection issue, which is the main feature of the app. Please add a session control so that one is able to remove the dodgy sessions from the records..Version: 8.2

Fix the coverage trackingThis used to be a great app, but sometime around the iOS 16 update the coverage stopped tracking. Multiple reports of this from different users across multiple platforms have been met with the same copypasta response and requests (on non-public channels, obviously) for “more information”. As if knowing the user’s geographical location is going to help in fixing a Bluetooth issue, or a broken legacy API call. OralB must know there’s something wrong but won’t even acknowledge the problem. I’ll wait for the inevitable silent-fix-for-the-thing-we’ll-never-publicly-admit-was-broken (because This Is The Way now for so many tech companies) then maybe revise my rating. A shame, as I was quite enjoying the gamification of teeth cleaning. But for now all it does is nag me daily for not doing good enough despite putting in the same effort as all previous days. In some ways it’s a metaphor for modern life, so maybe I should have given it a star for that….Version: 9.2

Useless appAn absolutely worthless app. The position detection never works, always shows the incorrect area being brushed on the app and finally even after 4 mins of brushing, the end result is that I haven’t completed by brushing properly..Version: 8.0.5

Teeth scanning does not workIthink this app is a bit of a gimick. The scanning does es not work. It always says I’m doing fine the wrong teeth and then I can never get a full scan rate. Bad design.Version: 8.6

Does it even work? There must be a firmware update because there’s no way P&G doesn’t have the resources to hire good programmers - or maybe they don’t bother. Honestly, if you expect to use the timer, go to the dollar store and buy a digital timer because $1 is far more effective than the cost of the Bluetooth module..Version: 8.0.2

Really like it but tells wrong time!I really like the app but when I go into activity and go to delete session it tells me that I brushed my teeth at 2.11 and 5.10 but it’s the wrong time! I’ve only had the toothbrush for 1 day and I just find it frustrating as I brushed my teeth at 9.30pm not the other times it was saying. Would really appreciate it if someone could update the app and make it so you can change it to your own time zone. Thanks :).Version: 6.0.2

This cannot be described as an upgrade! This latest upgrade is definitely a retrograde step! On recommendation by my dentist, I brush each quadrant for 45 seconds and previously had programmed my brush to this effect through the app. This facility has disappeared. The display now shows 30 second quadrants but fortunately the brush still delivers my required 45 second programme. I had the choice of a countdown or count up time - now disappeared. When connecting my brush to my iPhone 11 Pro Max, I could see a banner message confirming synchronisation- disappeared. Synchronisation appears haphazard and frequently doesn’t happen; According to my last recorded brushing session, I haven’t brushed for the previous 9 days! This is leading to totally inaccurate graphs! On one day, it recorded me having brushed 11 times for 3 minutes in duration, all recorded at the same time and later in the day one brushing correctly. Frequently I get a third recorded brushing around mid-day which I don’t do. The date for brush head change has also changed from 12 October and now reads 5 November! In short, my experience is that this upgrade has destroyed all credibility. The adage of “if it isn’t broken, then don’t fix it!” springs to mind..Version: 8.0.4

Fire your app developersAs well as what everyone is complaining about, here was your chance to make the visual guide for brushing coverage better. Previously it was difficult to know if it was the inside surface, front or top of the tooth that needed cleaning, but at least you knew the general vicinity to concentrate the brush head on. Now with the app upgrade, oversimplified circles represent teeth, and it’s now confusing how you reach 100% coverage. Next time choose a developer that understands and uses your products!.Version: 8.0.2

I encourage the developers to continue making improvements 👍🏼✌🏼The area I am brushing rarely matches the app. For example, if I am brushing my top right teeth, the app may say I am brushing the bottom left or other area. I then find myself trying to accommodate the imperfections of the app for a perfect score, which may not be helpful: the other day, I remained too long on one part of my teeth, patiently waiting for the app to take note that I was indeed brushing that area - it took a long time for it to register that I had brushed the area (it kept jumping to other parts of my teeth, even though I was not moving my brush very much) - and my gums were a bit sore the next day. I know I am in control and should not worry about the score, but I certainly would have had an imperfect score had I just brushed regularly; I imagine this is due to the faultiness of the app's Bluetooth. I now wonder what other parts of the app may be inaccurate, too. I hope the developers are able to make improvements; I think it would be a helpful tool..Version: 8.2.6

App works, toothbrush has flaws*update to developer response: that’s cute. Yes my app is fully up to date. I have not been traveling. I’ve been in the same time zone for several years now. I will say the one thing I do different(as an American) is that I use 24hr time on my phone and not 12hr time. But that really should not matter. Or does it? I’m in contact with the tech team to figure out why my toothbrush is not syncing in with the right time despite having all settings correct. Work in progress. So all in all, everything is great. Everything works as it should. But there is one thing wrong with my toothbrush. It has no idea what time of day it is. It will tell me “good morning” at 10pm. I have tried everything to fix this issue. Even deleted my account and removed the app and tried to set up everything as new with still the same problem. I realize that this does not affect how the toothbrush works, though obviously when doing a set “journey” the floss and mouthwash option appear in the mornings for me instead of evenings since my toothbrush is backwards. But it would be nice if a toothbrush I spent a few hundred on actually worked as intended. And yes I contacted customer support who just said a future update will fix the issue. That was months ago..Version: 8.5.1

Very pleased! After struggling for years with sensitive teeth/gums and my dentists recommending a mechanical toothbrush, I decided to find one. Luckily, I got found the OralB Genius on Cyber Monday and made the switch. I was actually surprised that it was Bluetooth enabled and had an app associated with it. It came in the mail, i set it all up (about 10 minutes to get everything together), and was ready for my first brush. It took another 10 minutes to sort out how to use the app. I love the guided timer that tells you how long to focus on each area of your mouth. And I genuinely find myself brushing my teeth for more than 2 minutes every single time because it feels so great. I also purchased the sensitive toothbrush heads, which has been great - I was afraid they would be too soft and not actually get the job done, but this turned out to be completely unfounded. And finally, it comes with a sturdy portable case for traveling, which was an awesome bonus. Unfortunately, the app has been crashing lately. If I try to look at my ‘activity’ the program quits. I’ve also had problems with my sessions suddenly quitting in the middle of brushing, then it tells me I haven’t brushed long enough. These have been frustrating, so I’m hoping that an update will be out soon to patch the bugs. Otherwise it’s a great product and my mouth feels so much healthier. Would recommend for anyone!.Version: 6.0.2

Good, Not GreatThe app is well designed to keep each user on track. It’s easy to set up, use and understand. It brushes really well and my teeth have never felt cleaner or looked whiter. It’s got two frustrating bugs, though. 1) When you brush, it shows where you are brushing and for how long . It’s off about 25% of the time, indicating I’m brushing in one area when I’m actually in another. 2) It has subtle color changes and bubbles to show when you’ve completed a section. The key word in the last sentence is “subtle.” It’s hard to figure out what you’ve fully completed and what you haven’t. At times I see the program turn a section of my teeth white and little bubbles appear. Okay: I’m done with that part of my mouth and can move forward. Except I’m not. I move on and what was white darkens and I need to repeat what I just concluded if I care about getting credit for it. A two-minute brushing can turn into a three-minute one if I choose to keep brushing in order to complete the task from the app’s point of view..Version: 8.7

So close to perfect… but for one thing…I have recently purchased an io9. I’ve been really pleased with the brush and the app overall but one frustration has been the tracking in the app. For some unknown reason, the app struggles to detect when I’m brushing my lower left teeth. Every other area and the tracking is perfect. My lower left jaw though and the tracking is almost non existent. The brush continues to track pressure and gives a great clean, but if I want the app to show a full clean then I need to spend over a minute trying to get the app to register cleaning in that area. It’s increasingly frustrating and if it can’t be fixed it’s highly likely I’ll just ditch the app in time. 😢.Version: 8.7

HealthKit support?Reasonable and functional app ... a little too heavy on the hard sell. Please Consider implementing HealthKit support? (iOS 13: Health App --> "Browse Tab" (below) --> Other Data --> Toothbrushing).Version: 7.2

Not a very smart or useful appThe app is very rigid and not really smart. The stupid app starts the timer even when you are trying to just wash the brush! The AI is average at best, and it’s not really AI, it’s just assumes where you are (totally unnecessary, but interesting feature), and goes wrong a lot of time. I have to re-brush to convince the app that I have brushed that spot! I’m scared of getting a poor score with my $500+ brush!!! Work on making the app a bit more customisable and user-friendly🤦🏻‍♂️. Remember this is accompaniment to a $500+ brush!.Version: 8.2.6

App problemsMy dentist recommended the Oral B Genius brush because it allows position detection and encourages good brushing practices. However, its use is constant frustration. The mount to a mirror for position detection is rarely secure, and I stopped using it after my phone fell to the floor one too many times. Even when I prop the phone securely and stand correctly in front of the camera , the app shows my brushing progress inaccurately by tracking the wrong part of my mouth or by advancing to full clean at a snail’s pace, which causes me to brush my teeth for longer than the recommended 2 minutes. Lately the app crashes for no reason, requiring me to restart it even while the brush continues to operate and my wifi signal is strong. Both the app and my operating system are up-to-date. Oral B would do well to improve its functionality instead of creating artificial medals and data tracking that adult users find pointless. I just want to brush my teeth!.Version: 8.2.5

Great app. NOTE TO THE DEVELOPERS!!!!Love the app. Love the brush. Please put an option for missing tooth. I have a tooth in the back bottom of my mouth and that area never gets 100% credit for cleaning. It’s frustrating. New edit after using it for a week. Still agree with my previous review. Now I am trying to get my brushing times in order. Your app doesn’t recognize that tongue clean mode shouldn’t be expected to brush teeth during. Also, it goes in with the times on the app so it messes with the average time which I am working to get down to 2 mins. Not to mention the tooth brush seems to think tongue brushing lasts 30 seconds while the app thinks it lasts longer. The sensor for where my tooth brush is seems to not understand the bottom left side of my mouth. Whenever I brush that area it seems to think I am brushing every other part of my mouth. Ontop of all this I tried to delete a tongue brushing session two different times and it deleted a regular brushing session. This app is making me want to return this brush and forget spending so much time caring for my teeth. Previous rating 4 stars. New rating 2 stars..Version: 8.4

Possibly the worst app on my phoneAs has been said previously this app just stops when it feels like. Advises I have brushed for less than 30 seconds despite the fact that it shows I have brushed for OVER 2 minutes. Does not record the session then the next day I do exactly the same steps and it works. Complete rubbish UPDATE: New Release - The AI has a mind of its own. It will not register the fact that the teeth, upper and lower inside and outside, have been brushed. I brush for three minutes, clean tongue for 50 seconds then finish. The App shows that I have brushed for only 50 seconds. No I brushed for 3 minutes and cleaned tongue for 50 seconds. Despite cleaning all my teeth for 3 minutes the “summary” at the end shows I have only cleaned 67% and not the 100% which was done In summary the latest release is much much worse than what it replaced. I was so excited to get this brush, but...I got the genius 9000 brush a few days ago, which is great, but the beautiful app I am saw on all the ads seems to have been replaced with something much less functional. The first time I brushed, the camera picked up my brushing pretty well but since then I get random times when it just will not register me brushing one side (my face is in the right spot), and registers the opposite side instead. It doesn’t seem to be able to distinguish between my upper and lower front teeth either, and registers as brushing both upper and lower when I’m just doing one side. I also can’t find for the life of me, where to change the colour of the ring on the handle? I really liked this feature in the promo videos but it seems to have been removed from the app? Can anyone help here?.Version: 8.2.7

InconsistentThe idea of this app is awesome, and it has definitely made me more consistent with regularly flossing my teeth in particular, however, it regularly gets the amount of times I’ve cleaned my teeth each day wrong. It will say at the end of the day I have done it twice, which is correct, and then, the next day it says I’ve only cleaned them once the day before and 3 or 4 times that day. It also constantly takes away my streaks which is disappointing as this is what makes me keep cleaning my teeth twice a day, not being lazy and doing it once. Please fix this error. If it was a kid not getting their awards they would be very disappointed..Version: 7.3

Needs big improvements!I purchased the BT specific brush so it works with the app. 8 times out of 10 it doesn’t work properly. Some days it won’t record anything at all, some days I brush for 2 mins 20, once it hits 2 mins the clock starts again. Then stop. I get a prompt that I need to brush minimum 30 seconds before it can record on my brushing history 🤷🏽‍♂️ The app is a crock of sh%t. Such a massive waste of money, time & recourse! The idea of this app is good but needs massive improvements to work with your BT brushes better..Version: 8.7

Not worth the moneyI bought this toothbrush at the dentists office. It is a good toothbrush but the App needs some help. It is very annoying to have to put your phone on the mirror every time. The toothbrush blinks when it is time to go to s different quadrant (1 of 4) of your mouth yet the app shows 6 quadrants. It doesn’t tell you whether you have brushed sufficiently on the inside or outside of the tooth; it only tells you how much time to spend, Yet if you brush across the outside first of all uppers it doesn’t register at all. You have to stay in the correct quadrant for 30 seconds and then it blinks telling you to go on. Like I said the front on the app is it’s own quadrant but while brushing you have to remember that in terms of time it is half of the front included in the first 30 minutes. Whoever created the app must not have been into dentistry. I think just an app developer who wanted to help the company get more got their electric toothbrush! Don’t waste your time or money-get the regular one and simply spend the whole 2 minutes brushing!.Version: 7.0.1

Very frustratingI’m getting ever more frustrated with this app. I do what it tells me and I get 100% when brushing (yay!) but when I floss or brush my tongue, I look away from my phone. When I do that, if my screen dims or turns off, the app closes so when I unlock my phone again I need to relaunch the app and it has forgotten I had brushed my teeth as I hadn’t completed the tongue/floss/mouthwash yet. I’m so incredibly pleased with my toothbrush and love the idea of the app but the way it currently works, it is unusable as it doesn’t give me enough time to floss or whatever before turning off and losing my progress. I’m not prepared to brush again for the sake of it just for my streak but I get annoyed that I can’t manually add in a brush instead. Update: my phone is an iPhone 8 running iOS 13.3 and my toothbrush is a black genius 9000.Version: 7.2.1

Doesn’t know which teeth I’m brushingI love my new electric toothbrush, replacing a 10 year old one. But I’m having a lot of trouble with the app/ toothbrush recognising which quadrant of my teeth I’m brushing. Not sure if it’s poorly calibrated for left handers, but when I’m brushing my teeth, the recognition jumps around randomly from segment to segment, even if I only move the brush a millimeter. Seems to have particular trouble with bottom left side of mouth. And where it thinks I’m brushing is completely random and inconsistent. Surely if the toothbrush head is facing directly down, it shouldn’t think I’m brushing my top teeth! It doesn’t matter how I adjust the angle of the brush, I usually can’t get it to recognise which segment I’m brushing. Would really like this to be remedied to accurately reflect where and how I’m brushing my teeth, otherwise what’s the point of the app?.Version: 8.0.4

InconsistentHow many times do I have to tell the app I’ve replaced the brush head? Every time I open the app, it still asks again, whether I answer replaced or dismiss. At least it will soon be time to replace it!! Doesn’t always track brushing etc, even when phone is right next to brush. Phone iOS and app both latest versions. Still so frustrating! I have the Braun 9000, iPhone 8, iOS 11.4.1. Notifications are on, and the app says the brush is due for changing on 23 September. 26 Feb 2019: Have downgraded rating and given up on this app. Features have disappeared since last update (everything on the phone is up-to-date), and the sync is inaccurate. I haven’t missed a day since I bought the brush in May 2018, but the app (having originally recorded months accurately) now says I missed 15 days in August; similar story for some other months. Disappointing, frustrating and unreliable..Version: 7.0.1

Awful compared to previousThis new app is terrible when compared to the previous iterations. The marketing department chased fancy graphics and modern colors, and neglected (frankly downgraded) the performance of some of the key value propositions of the app. Previously the camera assisted brushing worked much better, with faster, more accurate tracking. In addition, even when using the camera mode, the toothbrush will still notify you every 20 seconds, despite the fact that the camera mode encourages you to stay in one zone for 25 seconds before moving - and that’s when it’s being accurate! Sometimes it can take 30 seconds or more to complete a zone because of how poor the camera tracking is. These issues were not present in the older version of this app. Definitely a major step backward for the sole purpose of attracting people who want a ‘sleek and sexy’ tooth brushing app. Think about how dumb that sounds. People want an app that helps them improve their health, and that starts with making one that works well. Oral-B had one a month ago, then threw it away for this junk..Version: 8.0.4

HopelessA complete waste of time. The human race has nothing to fear from AI if this is an example. Could not locate brush position during cleaning, tried various methods to no avail. Long way to go OralB..Version: 7.3

It’s almost there…I think this app is good! I feel it could use some work for those who are left handed. It never picks up the location of my toothbrush well in my left hand. But fine in my right. Other than that it’s very self explanatory. I would like to see a bit more notifications and encouragement to brush my teeth..Version: 9.7.2

Ai needs a reworkWhile the app is good itself, the ai isn’t. Let me explain, whenever I brush my teeth near the spot I want to brush it on (let’s say the top right teeth) it registers it as if I am brushing the bottom left part of my teeth. I’ve lost many chances trying to get a 100% coverage because of this. Oh and for the love of god, nobody brushes that quickly under 2 minutes. It’s impossible to get a 100% coverages with 0 over pressures in under 2 minutes..Version: 9.2

Without the app, this toothbrush limits you. Not worth it.Why do I need my phone and an app to brush my teeth? After some use with the app, I have decided to use the toothbrush without it. I don’t bring my phone everywhere with me and found that I dislike having it with me while brushing my teeth. As a result, the app is holding me back from being able to use my toothbrush. Without direct app interaction, my toothbrush restricts the modes I can use and sometimes only shuts on and off not allowing me to use the setting I need. Not only that, but when another user wishes to simply pick up the toothbrush to use is as well, they are also faced with the same annoyances. The app can not tell the difference automatically between users meaning that if you don’t log into the app and pair your phone with the brush, it will do a bunch of things that you don’t want or need it to do. If you’re like me and wish to simply pick up your brush to use it on the mode or modes of your choice as you want, the app interferes with that. Better to pass on this device. I wish we never purchased it..Version: 8.0.4

Not greatWhy does the app look different in the pictures in App Store then it does in the actual app... well I have to say, it’s not as great as it’s advertised to be! Such a shame really coz the idea of it is quite good! The the result of it.. not so good! On the App Store, the pictures are teeth, in the actual app it’s just a circle, and no setting to change this! There’s no way to change the colour off the presser sensor (like it says there is on the App Store). And there isn’t any reminders or brush scores either! Also it keeps disconnected so I’m constantly having to “connect new brush” to get into my brush settings! it’s just completely different!! To make something look more appealing when the result is nothing like that is very disappointing! I bought this specific toothbrush for this app to help track my brushing routines and scores and now I Probably won’t be using it anymore!! Such a complete let down!! This app needs a SERIOUS redo coz it’s crap!.Version: 8.3

Very good but disappointedJust received a 9000 genius for Christmas & whilst I was impressed with the toothbrush & initially impressed with the app. I’m More than disappointed that the app can’t distinguish between different users or be setup for multiple users “using their own brush heads”. & soon as I pair my phone to the brush it automatically sync’s the data to my routine so now instead of a 5/6 minute brush per day I have accumulated 30 mins 20 of which wasn’t mine. So instead of the personal care & help I was expecting. now it doesn’t seem that way. If that could be changed with an update. I’d be giving it 5* stars. As it’s a wonderful piece of engineering as all the different settings for teeth, gum & tongue care work wonderfully. Just needs that personal touch to the app. To be able to recognise different users. All the weather & news seems to be nonsense if I wanted to see that. I’d look out the window or buy a newspaper..Version: 5.0.1
