✓ I’ve been playing foreverThis is one game which has survived over the duration. We all download games only to find them repetitive and boring after a while. Not so with Hidden City. The game is kept up to date with new and interesting stories, places and collections. You can lose a few hours though trying to keep up with all your tasks, I’ve never completed anything, but that doesn’t worry me, it’s a fun distraction and a bit more interesting than the goggle box.Version: 1.31.3101

But by far the most rewarding aspect is the appearance of back to back seasonal events with ever more challenging goals to achieve. This game is a lot of fun and you can play for awhile and there are different things to do, and that's fun. However- I also play paranormal society. That game I can only play for 15 mins and I am out of energy and only have 2 goals, where this one there are so m any goals I don't bother to look at them much. I can't keep the threads for each set straight so I often don't even read them. The friends area seems off somehow and I think it could be more friendly. I don't think I need to know every trivial achievement my lvl 85 friend makes, but I would like to be able to actually send gifts and can't seem to figure that out. I get error messages that say I've already sent them when I haven't. I would also buy gems if there were more fun/ reasonably priced packages. ✓ Best hidden objects game ever !I have been hooked with this game already more than 3 years , super cool demons and monsters in every location ! I love the tinniest details that you guys add, a crawling spider, a little mouse hidding from you or those cool and creepy demons all over the city . ✓ Plus and minusOn the plus side, this game is addictive. It’s fun to play! The graphics are gorgeous. There are a variety of variations and puzzles within the game And to make the game more interesting, there are new “events” and goals about once a month. The more “friends” you connect with in the game, the faster you progress. I’ve had the chance to talk to people from all around the world as I play. The downside. This game is addictive. It’s deliberately set up using psychological principals that are designed to get you to play (and buy) more. It is possible to play for free but progress will be much slower. There is very little in the way of FAQs. Mostly you will have to learn by playing or join one of the Facebook or “hidden” groups to learn how to play and get your questions answered. Also the game software is incredibly buggy!!!!! Constant glitches and problems playing and storing your info. Unless you have a lot of patience, this becomes very frustrating!! There is a link to report the problems but all you’ll get back is a form “letter” telling you they’ll look into it. If you don’t mind all the software problems, and have enough self-control not to spend too much money, the game is lots of fun..Version: 1.29.2905
✓ Good but annoyingIt's a really addictive game, if you don't have a lot of spare time then just don't bother. However if your like me and are trying to avoid all the important stuff you should be doing then go for it. There is a lot to do, maybe to much. There are like 50 quests open at one time once you've been playing for a few hours, and nowhere near enough energy to get them done. You don't win enough energy when you complete a part of the game so you end up using gems to get more energy, gems run out fast so then of course you have to either stop playing or buy more gems. This feature could get very expensive because the game is so addictive. All the mini games start off very easy and after a while get super hard, to the point I just can't win, so end up using energy without getting any back. I’m 70 and love playing it (I’m level 131) but sadly like all senior people our eyesight is going and therefore some of the tiny images are very difficult to see. ✓ Great gameLove this game. You do get addicted quite easily though and an hour has passed before you know it. There are faults on the haunted park in legend and master levels when you have to find duplicate items and there’s only one there (even using the find tool) which is annoying as there is no way you can win those games. I like the new features of friends who charge locations appearing on your screens and have enjoyed the last few events. If the glitches could be resolved would give 5 stars! Update: still a good game and I’m still playing it. Few glitches still but not as many as before. Had issues with buying rubies and event tokens but was resolved by contacting support in a few days. ✓ Great game but........I love the game and have been playing it for... I don’t know how long BUT there are aspects that really annoy me. For example, after fighting a monster and you go to treasure vault you always get the worst chest first ( only 3 items and the others hold 4). Also when trying to complete one of the events, the final section gets very difficult to achieve because you have to wait for a specific mode to find the missing item. Then suddenly all the magic items needed to access the specific area seem to disappear while waiting for the mode!!! As I say, I love the game but I work all day, and cannot play the game at work and so soon I will start to lose interest if I constantly fail in the events due to prohibitively high and costly difficulty levels.Version: 1.31.3102
✓ Great game, but it’s starting to drive me crazy...Let me first say that I love this game. The graphics are incredibly beautiful and colorful. The plot lines are unique and keep you entertained without being too much to pay attention to if you just want a game to play. It’s fun to play and gets progressively harder so you don’t get bored. I love the new anomalies available that have added more challenge to some levels. What I DON’T like is that it seems to be taking LONGER to get the required items necessary for completing a collection. Where it used to take a few rounds (maybe four or so) of a level to get one item, it now seems to take many more (ten, at least). This is not exciting, but frustrating and annoying. To use my energy in this way seems like a ploy to get me to spend more money, which I won’t do. Is there any way to fix that? You know, to change it back? On the moment theme Halloween I was almost 5 starts got all stickers (THAT I HAD TO BUY), I wanted to download the game to my laptop as well ( BIG MISTAKE) not only on the computer none of the progress was loaded, but also all of my progress on my iPhone was gone!! ✓ Good gameI really like this game but find that the objects you accumulate should be alphabetical, in order to find a particular one quickly. The game encourages friends and trying to determine whether you wish to gift or not can become tedious. Other than that I find the game interesting enough though once up in levels the rooms can become extremely difficult and require money to buy enough buffs to see a level through. I don’t mind the occasional buying of a buff, but it seems it’s becoming more and more necessary to do the level in the time frame allowed. Because of this I see a definite end game to this. ✓ Fun Game But Forced to play impossible mini gamesThe Game overall is great, you don’t have to pay but if you want to, the game is very reasonable with what your money can buy. However, they inside mini games, such as the Crystals mini game. The mini game is no fun once you get to further stages, it is impossible to win without using tools. I’m not here to play Candy Crush, I will go there and play, yet the developers connect daily contests that force me to play the Candy Crush mini games like 50 times if I want to accomplish the daily contests. Come on, make it easier at least. At first I was ok with this, but as I climb in rankings I’m seriously thinking of Quitting because of this. It’s not fun, it’s becoming a job and getting me angry and that is not why I play games. This is one of the only ones I play, but may not be for much longer. It is frustrating that rubies take so long to earn when they are so helpful, would be better if you could use coins to buy them or swap artefacts for them. Easy to get drawn in to purchasing things, which I don’t like at all. Annoying when story specific tokens you have purchased are replaced by keys and not tokens for next story; won’t be doing that again. ✓ Fun, challenging and frustratingI’ve been playing for 15 months and try to play a strategic game in order to achieve event 5-star goals and mini-events. I love the variety of locations, puzzles and events. Also I’m fine with making occasional purchases to help support game development, but this is not necessary so it is also a game you can play entirely for free. Occasionally changes are made to the game fundamentals (e.g., moving the list of items to search for from the side to the bottom) that some players object to but others don’t mind. It would really make me happy if an explanation for the reason for the change is provided..a specific rationale, not something generic like to improve the game. Overall the game is fun to play, has great graphics (and I especially love the subtle changes made to the map with each event and I really hope the snow comes back this winter), and I’m always looking forward to the next event. First, the stupid “task” bar that pops up before the start of the gem drop game is just annoying. This last update you made all the buttons so darn big and moved them so they cover the bottom of the screen making it nearly impossible to find anything in that area. Too much tinkering with the controls. Come on G5, what were you thinking? Ok, they fixed the oversized buttons. Thanks. Now, get rid of the task bar. OK, I have to add something which caused me to remove 2 stars. These last updates have my game crashing, not crediting completions and NOT returning tools used to complete. The last “fix” did NOTHING to solve the problem. In fairness, fix number 3 finally resolved the crashing problem. ✓ Good + addictiveI’ve returned to this game after well over a year and pleased to see it remembered my progress and the improvement on the graphics really noticeable. I can’t afford to buy extras so my progress through the game is slow, but I really enjoy it. I LOVE that there are variations to standard hidden objects version - such as needing to find two versions of same object or differences between mirror version of the same picture. And I love the events. The attention to detail in the picture of the city is wonderful. My only peeve is, because I am dyslexic, I REALLY struggle with levels where the object name’s letters are all mixed up. I keep repeatedly failing those. My beef is that you have finally made many of the “hidden” items smaller than a grain of rice and partially hidden behind a railing. (Latest update) your “Halloween” rooms have always been the most difficult but this last one is ridiculous. I’ve given up trying to finish this quest and will wait for the next update. Addendum: I’m still playing this game but I have to say your addition of “mystical rounds” is horrible. It’s almost bad enough to make me delete this game. ✓ Variety within the games greatLike so many others - it just get a little hard to justify bing almost forced to fork out substantial amounts of real money to progress. In my opinion that's like wasting money on gambling - little return over time and eventual waste of money. In comparison other games still give you opportunity to continue to great levels without forking out. On the good side I love the constant opportunities to progress in new adventures and this gives incentive to continue playing. Graphics are awesome too. Well done on the story lines they keep it interesting as well. I've been playing this for several months now but will refuse to pay much more to buy assemblers. There seem to be several hitches (bugs I suppose) that will often halt the game at the point where you are about to collect special items and then - crash and your set back to pre challenge and you've lost that item - this has happened several times .... very frustrating. I also get a bit fed up with the constant request that comes up each time you've finished a round to join other G5 games .... wastes my time and spoils the enjoyment somewhat. ✓ A great game!Decided to do this review after reading a few that were not so good and felt the need to say what my experience has been. I have an iPad - so if you are using something else, you may have issues but I do not. There is rarely any kind of glitch or drop out. Can’t actually remember the last time. I have never lost items I’ve found or bought. As to the comments regarding having to spend money to progress, really? It’s a game you are playing against yourself. Spending money is not going to give you any advantage over anyone else. In my experience, some perseverance is required but you can find everything you need in game. You can buy tools using the coins you find. Use the boosters you find to increase everything. The game is visually amazing. Each new scene blows me away with its attention to detail. Just check out the details in the clothes. Amazing. It is a story based game. If you don’t like to read then it may not be the game for you. Game play is varied in that there is hidden object, match three, memory cards, etc. There are events regularly. Choose to play or not play. Remember there is not one winner, everyone receives the rewards for the level they achieve. I enjoy this game because elements of it work my brain and make me concentrate. I’ve updated my rating to 5 stars I have been playing this game for a few years now, and have seen a number of good updates and challenging quests. That is not the case with the latest update, though. The latest update made some key visual changes that are, quite frankly, an impediment to the game. The object list has been moved from the right side - where it was out of the way and not impeding the game sight - to the bottom of the screen overlaying the game. Sometimes the hidden objects are hidden UNDER the list! While the list itself is somewhat opaque, it is still a problem seeing the objects. I have had a few occasions where the hidden object is under a “tool”, or at the very right of it nearly off the screen. When the object is there and you tap to claim it, you end up (needlessly) tapping a tool as well. These are huge flaws that need to be addressed sooner rather than later. One big problem is the cost to play it in the UK, the cost in GBP is higher than in US dollars which is grossly unfair, and whilst it used to cost relatively the same, eg £1.50 for a small stack of rubies against $1.99, now, the price is £1.99 (GBP) but still only $1.99 US. ✓ Constant Pressure To Puchase Is Offputting....I have been playing for a year now and it's the onpy game I play on a daily basis. The graphics for the last Halloween event were really hard to see and the crystal thing is an utter joke. You get one each time you level up yet if you want to open a location early it can cost from 250 crystals or more. A blatant rip off. I only ever purchase the £1.99 crystal set and that is only when I find the highway robber crystal that doubles your purchases. They have some bundles of crystals for £100! For a mobile phone game. ✓ This game has gotten better!Ok, I have been playing this game for a few months. It is so fun and challenging. If you think it’s not, just keep going. Honestly, I have kept waiting for a downside, but there hasn’t been one. There are various side games to keep your interest peeked and the story line is incredibly engaging. I have not joined a guild yet, so even playing on my own is addicting. There are sooo many different things to do within the game that you don’t have to spend money to enjoy it. I do pay because there are certain directions I choose to go, but I could still have fun without dropping cash. ✓ Love/hateI love this game because it’s challenging. But, I hate it because some of the scenes (the plane, holiday school) are so hard, you can almost never win them. Other scenes are fun because you eventually conquer them and then move onto something new. But these two scenes seem to be the keys to the holy grail, and I can only win periodically. The other thing I dislike is that it takes so much to get to play one of them. I can only play seriously about 2x per day due to losing energy and consequently not being able to play the sub-scenes to get enough rings. Listen - if I’m hooked on your game and can actually play, and get somewhere, I’ll play a lot more, and consequently, you will have more opportunities to get me to buy something. I’ve also been buying gems which I stopped doing a long time ago because it’s money out of my pocket for the developers. It’s not like I’m getting gems in the mail but when you want to win levels and have nothing to help you it’s either buy or lose. I would’ve given them the fifth star but I have 2 problems with this game that prevents that. I collected on one of my collections and received 150 energy for it which is great but the problem is when you level up you don’t get to keep that extra 150 because it just goes back to regular energy. My energy level at full is 380. I had over 200 after collecting that 150. So when I level up it should’ve given me 380 plus the amount I had before leveling up. I should’ve had at least close to 625 in energy. I play 2 other games from this company and they do the same thing. ✓ Long Time PlayerI have been playing this game for over 6 years and have always loved the game. But this company has made so many changes to the game that it is getting more and more difficult for me to want to continue to play. They have shortened the time on the games, they give less rewards on all the games as well as the events. I have completed a lot of the challenges and have many accomplishments for the length of time played, but I’m really disappointed in all the changes (they do add up). I play with a wonderful team of 15 and a lot of us feel the same. ✓ Really Enjoying!So much I like about this game...the guided beginning steps, the daily treasures, the quests, various ways of searching the same place so it's never boring, the increasing difficulty where I sometimes lose all the items I'd gained because I ran out of time, etc. My favorite is comparing the scene side-by-side to find what's different. I also enjoy finding two of the same. Some items to note: - It would be great if you'd stop making certain items in the station white...it's impossible to see (literally). - Could we either zoom in more to the city on our iPads or make it so we don't have to scroll? One of the things I love about using my iPad is the not having to scroll so much...it should all be on one screen. - Monsters often hide treasures and you can't get to it until they move. - Many treasures require you to go someplace that isn't unlocked for another 50+ levels...can it start recognizing what level we're at and allowing us to only go to places we've either already unlocked or are 1 level away? - Items don't match even when doing the shadow find or two of the same. You could get used to even finding something in words then it doesn't look the same the first time an anomaly of some sort appears. The graphic were great, the story lines were great and I just loved the challenges of the different games. Some were easy but the pay out were lesser than the hardier ones. It was how I loved to relax and keep my mind sharp. My wife told me I needed to get ahold of my addiction so I started sticking with just a few minutes here and there versus hours in one setting. ✓ Beautiful frustrating GameThe first thing that I have to say about this game is that the graphics are absolutely beautiful and the collections are really fun. I really love the Victorian-Gothic aspect of it and all of the beautiful is symbolism and that’s used throughout the game. There’s lots of areas to explore and lots of little mini games that are nice too. I like the cards if fate mini game that has your memory and the Crystal’s game that is a lot like bejeweled. There’s also a minesweeper type game as well. That being said the game is extremely challenging as you level up in a location. While I like the challenge it is almost impossible to beat some of the puzzles unless you use a tool or a cheat. Also the pay off is very small for collecting all of the keys to the chests that are related to the main quest that’s usually happening. One thing that I think is terrible is that as you get near the end of a collection for a quest you have to summon an “anomaly” to get the item that you need in order to complete the collection. That usually cost money in someway. It’s frustrating to have come that far and then have to spend money to go further in the game..Version: 1.25.2500
