✓ Giant step backwardsSparkle Epic has NOTHING to recommend it. Everything is larger, so it isn't as challenging. It isn't as pretty. Worst of all, you have to unlock levels for the right to BUY power ups, and you don't have them on an ongoing basis once you buy them. You have to buy them repeatedly, which is a waste of money. After playing the original repeatedly for years, I still find some levels challenging. ✓ A money grabI have purchased some of the previous versions of this game. They are great. This one they have unfortunately crossed the line to greed. Endless in-app purchases with multiple levels impossible to complete without the purchases. I have purchased all prior versions of this game. If you don’t support this kind of F2P, I'd suggest you to skip this game. Sparkle Unleashed I find very addictive especially the Hard setting, which lives up to its rating. I relished the prospect of yet another variation but found Epic to be very tedious in its initial stages. Frustratingly, there are 'in app' adverts within the game, increasing in frequency as you progress. I very quickly reached the stage where the ads appeared after each stage! ✓ Money grabI played all the other Sparkle games and loved them. They are challenging, but you can beat them eventually if you figure out some good strategies. This game, in the other hand, is just an attempt to make a quick buck. The game play is not better than the other ones, except you lose immediately after the marbles touch the whole. In the other ones, you have a few seconds after that to still make it. Once you lose, you get a screen offering to play longer for .99 cents. I paid for the no ads feature, and then you have to pay constantly if you want to win. And you only have five lives; why?? Oh right, so you can buy more if you run out. Not worth it. ✓ Greedy!!I will happily pay for a good game - and if this was like the previous Sparkle games if have gladly put my hand in my pocket. But no. This version is free. But with a catch! It starts off well, and is a nice update from the previous versions. And then the ads start. So many that the game is unplayable unless you pay to remove them (which I did) and then, shortly after, the difficulty ramps up ridiculously forcing you to buy blasters/upgrades etc. I defy anyone to complete the game without having to rely on paid for power-ups. ✓ EXTORTIONI LOVED the other versions of this game. This one charges you for everything from lives to boosts ($0.99-$4.99). You have to wait 30 minutes for each new life or pay money to continue. The levels get really hard about half way through, so you have to cough up money to get the boosts needed to pass the level. Once you have used up all the boosts, which can take as little a 2 boards, you have to (you guessed it) buy more. I have spent over $30 trying to pass some boards, and considering I have completed other versions of this game at "nightmare" difficulty, that is saying something. The only good thing about this game is some interesting twists on the older versions so I gave it a star. I told all of my friends/family who play these kinds of games about the other versions but now I'm telling them and everyone else the same thing: don't waste your time or money on this version, once it starts to get good, the creators try to milk you for everything you got!.Nordic2015Version: 1.1.2

However, despite being a visually beautiful game, this game is designed to be unbearable without paying for in-app purchases. For instance, upon reaching Day 39 (a level in this game) the developers make it impossible to beat without assistance from special power ups that you must purchase. The main issue is, as you get to about level 27, in order to complete you need power boosts. You have to either wait a whole week by claiming daily gifts or you have to buy them. ✓ Money grabI too love the sparkle series have played the last version multiple times all the way through. Originally they had a interesting game model. It kept me wanting more and I ended up buying the entire game unlocked for $4.99 and was happy to pay that because it's a very enjoyable game. Sparkle epic however is pretty disappointing. The gameplay seems a bit more challenging with the 360 turret in the middle but the constant nagging for inapps and removing ads is ridiculous. Having said that it's super obvious the developer is trying to milk it for all it's worth. So far I seem to be getting my ads every level at this point, I assume this is because I've only lost once, shortly after the bombs feature. Many of the new features, particularly the bombs, combine with the lack of lives to make the game very difficult without paying, paying to remove the ads won't fix that. Fellow players, yes it is possible to play without paying, it's just really hard. This is the absolute worst of freemium- initially free and unchallenging, asking for money to make it ad-free (fair enough) but then ramping up the difficulty to the point where it's not skill that gets you through levels- you're hugely dependent on purchased bonuses, as they aren't given to you in sufficient quantities even to allow a rationing style of gameplay. Urgh. I don't mind paying for an ad-free game- either through purchase or in app purchases. This game makes the experience much much worse. My advice is not to purchase the ad-free, and consider your options when playing it gets too hard and you have to think about buying bonuses. That being said the music is outstanding.
