Regardless of being on cell or wifi, every few levels you get a word from their sponsors. However, this just leads you to a black screen and nothing happens. ✓ Bad executionAn interesting game concept ruined by poor design choices. The gameplay is simple and fun and provides players with a sense of progression and achievement. However, the flow of the game is halted by frequent and intrusive ads. Ads are a necessary evil in free games like this, but the game is further complicated by providing players with five lives, which are consumed during normal gameplay independent of the player’s performance, and replenish at the slow rate of 30 minutes per life. Unlike many similar ad-supported games, you can’t watch an ad for more lives, buy more lives with in game currency, or do anything else to actually continue playing the game... except wait two and a half hours or pay actual cash to replenish your lives. Five minutes of gameplay, followed by two and a half hours of downtime. Couple this with the fact that the game is grindy. If you don’t repeat levels and grind for game money to buy and upgrade your gear, you will quickly find yourself unable to progress no matter how well you play. Your character simply won’t be strong enough even if your word and gaming skills are top notch. Keep in mind that repeating a level, or trying the next level and dying, both cost one of your lives. ✓ SpellspireAt first I loved this game, but as I have progressed it has nothing to offer. I have amassed and spent over 50,000,000 gold and it’s pointless. I have all of the wands and all of the hats and armors. I am at level 111 in the endless dungeons and nothing changes. No matter how much attack power I add, the tougher enemies still take just as long to defeat, regardless of the wand I’m using and the weaker ones blow over like dust bunnies. ✓ Too many ads!It is a unique game. Right at the beginning, the game starts giving you an ad every time you finish your level. Each level gives you 30 seconds of gameplay and then it gives you 30 seconds of ads. I get that they are trying to earn a living off the game but there are so many ads all the time that it’s hard to try it out and enjoy it. The other issue Is that you lose lies very quickly.I get that it is an RPG style game, however you have to wait at least 30 minutes for you to get one life back. ✓ Don’t pay to unlock the sewersThis game is fun for like 20minutes. Then you are out of lives and have to wait to play for even a little bit. I saw a sewer thing that said I could pay to unlock unlimited access to endless dungeons so I bought it thinking it would give me something to play while I was waiting for more lives. WRONG. I still couldn't play it since I was out of lives and then when I finally went in I got the smack down from an enemy that is the boss 7 floors above my current progress. This was only the second enemy in the endless dungeon. If I could pay for unlimited lives I would gladly pay and probably love this game. ✓ Needs ImprovementThis had some fun play, however, upon working my way up to the dragon, I have to say the same word/letter spelling combinations kept coming up with the same letters over, and over, and over again. Out of all the words in the English Dictionary, you must certainly have the capabilities of coming up with new word and letter combinations! It got boring really quickly. Quite predictable. ✓ Missing hundreds of wordsFrom playing this game I usually find that 100% of 3-4 letter words are present from the dictionary but after playing through and having to use longer words; I found that there are so many words missing, after double confirming and making sure I wasn’t mistaken I actually grabbed a dictionary to make sure I was not misspelling and I found 100’s of words were missing and it makes it hard to progress. The most frustrating thing is running out of lives when you clearly spelt a word correctly and it’s just not within the game..StephhheeennVersion: 1.3.0

✓ SpellspiteWould be a great game if it wasn't for the insane pressure to pay money for silly things. You have to replay levels to get stars and get stronger, but you lose a life for every level you replay even if you don't die. It takes forever to rebuild lives unless you buy them. Would love to play but without paying money for lives, it's just too painfully slow. ✓ Fun game but...The game is very original and clever. I was super excited when I first got the game, however over time even the game’s originality couldn’t save it from itself. For one, the ad system got to be overwhelming. Every 2-3 levels you’d get an ad and almost all the time you beat a level you’d get one. I guess the developers figured they’d take advantage of your euphoria from finally beating a level and stuck a guaranteed ad in there. Secondly, there should definitely be an affordable infinite lives in-app purchase like Trivia Crack did a couple years ago before they got greedy (it was $25 and then after a year or so they made it $100 which is ridiculous for a phone game). People shouldn’t have to spend $1 every time they want their lives refilled when it should just be $10-$25 for a one time purchase. FORTNITE IS FREE PEOPLE. ✓ Ads cause black screenEvery other level when the sponsored ad shows up, the screen turns black and the only way off of that to play game is to exit the game, close it out and then restart the app. It's annoying to say the least and a hassle to have to do just to play for a few minutes at a time. ✓ Okay but needs improvementsLovely game. Just a few issues. 1) the dictionary needs improving 2) more opportunities to gain lives without spending money. Why does it take so long for the lives to replenish? Why is there no option to gain lives through watching an advert etc 3) why do you lose a life when you successfully complete a star level? that seems very unfair. Occasionally the game will freeze if you go off it and you will have to start again. I also accidentally tapped to purchase something whilst in airplane mode and this permanently crashed it and wouldn't even start up afterwards, so had to reinstall it. About £10 for a full game is fine. So I expect to just be able to play with no adds. After a few levels, realise you also need to pay if you want to play for a while, as every attempt (if you win or lose) uses units, and it costs 99p to refill them. Also noticed that only 100 levels, was expecting more, and the dictionary does not recognise many of the words I know. For a game that you cannot just play if you spend £10, a limited dictionary, and you need to spend 99p each time you want to refresh the energy needed to simply play levels. I remember it asking me not once, not twice, but three times before I could start a level saying something along the lines of “Go visit the store” “are you sure you want to try this level without upgrading first.” Very pushy. The game itself has a nice mechanic, however it requires you to wait 30 minutes to get a life, and even if you make a purchase to unlock some of the perks (es. gain more coins per round), you are still stuck waiting to play more. The game asks you to pay $0.99 if you die and you want a quick resurrect, instead of making you just watch an ad for example. That's totally normal in this day and age, but on iOS 10 anyway, the ads don't work at all, you are left with a black screen forever. Your only option is to exit the game and trying to reenter it.
