✓ Very Good video editing appI like this app combining multiple clips. Would give it five stars if it were not for a couple things. Not being able to do a no filter is not an option, only minimal filter is available. You can easily bump out of selecting clips in video timeline causing to re-select video and re-process. This also happens when phone goes into lock when waiting for process making you redo the process. This can be frustrating and time consuming..Version: 1.5.3
✓ Serendipitous results make for great filmsA fun and easy app to use. Very intuitive. It lets you shoot as many little 'clips' as you want. Your final movie (a compilation of those clips) can be from anywhere from 3 - 15 seconds. You then pick a 'film' from the editing screen. It previews your finished movie in low res and then you tell it when to process. The finished movies seem to have a bit of randomness to them. Hard to describe, but you'll know it when you see it. Clips don't *always* appear in the same order in which they were shot. And the transitions (edits?) between the clips are varied and gorgeous. Within a few minutes of using this app you'll be loving the little movies you can make with it. They all have sort of a 'Hipstamatic in motion' feel to them… as though the movies were processed in the same way that gives Hipsta shots that distinctive feel. Highly recommended..Version: 1.0
✓ Crash - NEEDS UPDATEThis app is amazing no doubts at all, and I rely on this app a fair bit due to cinematography being a hobby of mine but now when I try bring in a video from camera roll and choose the non square ratio it just goes blank and nothing happens, so there's a bug somewhere, but yet in the square ration I have no problems importing a clip, please update it as I can't find an alternative that is any where near as good as your app, many thanks - Mac Godfrey -.Version: 1.5.4
✓ Square Video still?!?Update: overlooked that you have to press a toggle to enable landscape recording as simply recording in landscape won't actually give a 16:9 type video unless that toggle is pressed. Rating has been adjusted. Also I recorded one video and saved it and attempted to record a second video and couldn't. Had to close app and start over. Why in the world are we limited in duration. Coming from one of the most venerable iOS photography companies I expected more from a video app then something just made to appease the current social trends. ✓ Great filtersThis is not a video editing software. Rather, it is a tool to fine tune a video's appearance. This includes shutter speed, contrast, and ISO settings as well a set of 7 free video filters (with a few other handy tools like time lapse. With a not too demanding price of 2 dollars, you get more filters and a handful of other features.) They are by all means great filters, but there are a few limitations. You can't trim clips before applying filters and you are limited to a maximum of 60 seconds of recording. (After upgrading you may be able to get around this by importing from your camera roll.) ✓ The Dope ShortyThis APP kills it for easy use, a professional look & if- regardless of whether you are an amateur or professional- if you're smart and think like an editor- a good filmmaker has to think like an editor before & WHILE (especially with this APP which makes it fun & a challenge) you're shooting, not just thinking about getting the shot and stringing it together later, but if you have your shot list in your head before you press that button & think about what you're shooting while you're shooting it, taking your finger off just to change set ups, you can make the editing process later that much better & more fun. I love editing and was especially happy to see that when you add music you can scroll through the song and find that perfect section to use. Score being such a huge element to any film, other APPs that promise "add music, too!" And then only allow you to add the 1st however many seconds long your clip is to the clip drives me CRAZY. ✓ IOS version mattersYou need to have the most current version of IOS running on your phone or it won't work. At first I got a black screen on my 5s. I looked at my settings and realized there was an update waiting to happen. Once I updated, it worked fine. Seems like it will be fun, though I don't see how the clips can be linked together. You get a few filters with the purchase, but the rest need to be purchased. I'm a huge fan of Hipstamatic so I have high hopes for this app. The company listens to feedback and makes changes. It would be great if they could somehow incorporate this into Oggl in the future..Version: 1.0

I am unaware of any other [iPhone] app that can capture snippets of time and make it look like a variety of cinematic dreams. The application is very easy to use and there are $.99 extra effects that you can utilize for your video production. it doesn't take long before you are making some truly cool artistic videos and sharing them with the rest of the world. I really love that I can pick my own music to my videos and I am really impressed with the overall results of the video quality. the application keeps it fun and simple and i use it when i'm not working on still image artwork. The application is completely stable and the support team is phenomenal. I love what Hipstamatic offers on the camera side and I certainly love with Cinematic offers on the video side. ✓ New features make this absolute best...I have enjoyed KILLING my battery with this app. I have an almost hour long video of my kids doing all sorts of things. It's got our trip to Reno, Lake Tahoe. it's got our trip to monterrey, and LA. I have been worried that it will crash and I will lose everything, but so far it's handled it. ✓ Feature requestI love this very cool app, but it's unusable to me for one reason. The audio cuts out between each transition, when it should blend instead. A simple audio dissolve option would be fantastic. As it is now, the transitions between each clip are very jarring - when the audio cuts out it's a clear signal that the outgoing clip has finished, and the incoming clip has begun. ✓ A few serious shortcomings ...This app is lovely with beautiful filters, BUT it does come with a few caveats: 1. If you want to do selfie videos, the record button requires that you keep your finger on it the whole time. I cannot use both of my hands to sign (I'm Deaf and I use ASL). Allow us the option to press the record button in selfie mode only once and let it run to its full 15 seconds (or we can stop it sooner than that). A full star docked. 2. At first there seemed no option to save the Cinamatic clips to your Camera roll like you can save your Hipstamatic pictures to your Camera roll. Turns out that once a film is "processed" and closed to save, you have that option. Very confusing at first. Please offer the SAVE TO CAMERA ROLL option *upfront* so that users will know they'll have that option to do so if they don't want to share via Facebook, Instagram, etc..Version: 1.0

I also discovered that in order to download previously purchased filters you have to go and press the "Buy" option to restore them. This is a bit misleading, as I was hesitant to do so. I thought I would have to buy the filters again. The restoring experience could be a little better. -----------_________ Updating the app was supposed to unlock some "Pro" features for me. I keep getting a prompt screen displaying the new features with a "Cancel" and "Not Yet" button. There is no way to access these features. I thought it might have been an update problem so I reinstalled the app. Now my filters are gone and they won't restore. I'm not wasting another 5 dollars to download the filters I already purchased. ✓ Please add a "no filter" option!I love the app, but it would be GREAT if there was an option to save clips without applying one of the stylized filters. The shooting interface is SO much better than the iPhone camera, because it offers fantastic color balance, manual focus, exposure and shutter speed controls. But then you're forced to pass the clips through the style presets, and this isn't always desirable. Please offer this simple option and you've got a perfect app..Version: 1.5.3

Combine clips, add an effect, adjust its strength, add music and away you go. Some filters are almost too strong and smother the original footage. I find I end up using a core few favourites. It has a great selection of filters and now with the pro options of rearranging your clip segments, adding music, and messing with various sliders you can get the clips a bit more to your taste. Sure 15 seconds feels a bit short at times but that is how the app is intended. Once you get used to it and learn when to make cuts you can become really creative with it. Also the support from hipstamatic is second to none, there were some bugs with the latest version and within 24hours they were fixed, that's outstanding support. ✓ Easy and enjoyableThis app creates short, hipster-esque videos with very little work. You shoot some clips, and then Cinamatic applies its vintage effects, and done. Easy. The pro version gives you a couple of more options (soundtrack, rearrange clips, basic adjustments) and is necessary to make the best use of the app. But the basic version (which is free) lets you do enought to decide if you want to spend the $2 to upgrade. I have not personally had any issues with bugs. It's not for pro-filmmaking; just for quick videos to share with friends (who don't want to watch a two-minute film while browsing friends' photos on Instagram).
