Dream Quest is a roguelike deckbuilding game inspired by the likes of Ascension, Magic: the Gathering, and Shandalar. Explore randomly generated levels as one of 13 classes in short, 30 minute, sessions. One floor might find your wizard in the crypt, another your warrior underwater, and a third, your assassin stalking a volcanic wasteland. As you progress, your characters earn achievements, each making your future runs a little easier or more interesting.

Combat is a card game. Your abilities are a deck of cards that you develop as you gain power. For example, a thief starts with a handful of Slice cards and a Backstab, but can learn defensive moves like Dodge or powerful finishing moves like Coup de Grace. Carefully choosing which cards to add to your deck is the heart of the game: wise choices will find you slicing through monsters while poor ones will leave you tripping over your own two feet.

✓ Fun But Needs Better BalanceI don't normally write reviews but I thought I'd make an exception this time just to mention that while I've been having a blast, and the game is totally worth the money, it is also brutally unfair. I have beaten it with a couple of classes but some of the monsters are just ridiculous, or practically impossible for certain classes. Maybe it's just me, but I HATE building an awesome deck, just to get crushed by a clone two levels lower than me because it's using the same, near unbeatable deck... Except it eventually gets to draw way more cards if you don't kill it quickly enough. Also, the blob boss that always takes away key cards with no way of recovering them and no way to protect yourself from that attack. It's fun, but I hate the fact that the game OFTEN puts you in situations where there is literally no way to win..GlacVersion: 1.10

We all have to comment on the crude(?) art but it is stylistic and effective. I have played several dozen games (yet to win) and still keep seeing new things every time. ✗ Not GoodPlaying this on an XR and it only uses 2/3 of the screen. that combined with tiny buttons makes this an unenjoyable experience. on an iPad... ...it's much more playable, but the art is bad, and not in a charming or nostalgic way, imo. the gameplay is fine, I guess. reading the other reviews leaves me a little perplexed. it's really nothing special. something like Meteorfall in the same genre is MUCH better, I thought. would not pay anything if I had to do it over again..Zombie_Hell_MeVersion: 1.12

✗ A Random CrapshootI would really like this game to be more strategy focused than a seeming random crapshoot. You build a deck as you go, your opportunities to modify the deck as you go are super limited, which is fine, until you craft one that wrks to get you past one level and get to the next and realize you can do literally nothing to win. So you lose. Then you maybe get some small pittance of an achievement which helps you a tiny bit and you roll that dice again for the random crapshoot. The leveling is basically busted too. The level of the encounters is not consummate with your own level. This game is really just super rough and needs some help..JohnPostlethwaitVersion: 1.12
