✓ Brilliant!!!This game is a gem I can't play it enough, I wanted to give 4 stars only because of the basic art work but I just can't five stars is what it deserves. Replay ability is so good me and my son are both playing rivalry for who can get to the next floor. Bosses are hard tho you need the perfect deck to beat them. I'd pay £10 for this game no question if they updated the art work..Version: 1.10

✓ Challenging and addictiveI can't believe no one has made something like this before. The game is like Ascension mixed with Magic the Gathering/shandalaar. You basically try to get through 3 levels of increasing difficulty (harder monsters to beat). Gameplay involves developing your character by collecting more and more powerful cards to defeat more powerful monsters. You can do this by buying cards in randomly occuring stores on the map, find them in treasure chests or get them when you level up. Each monster plays differently with their own special strategy/cards. The game is difficult, though, sometimes you have to rely on being lucky in getting the right cards, and the bosses are tough. The game is very replayable because the dungeons are randomly generated (with forest areas, volcanic areas, etc.) and there are different classes you can play and unlock. Unlocking is actually a big part of the game. The game has achievements you can attain (e.g. kill x fairies), which can enable you to unlock cards, abilities, characters, etc. That is a big part of the addiction!.Version: 1.06

✓ 2 years for every class to beat lordI played this game for about 2 years. Some people would argue the game is unbalanced. It is true. Some classes are naturally weaker than others in terms of probability of beating the final boss. However, it doesn’t mean they are weak when you get all key cards for them. Warrior and paladin are hard to beat the game because they require more specific key cards but I once killed the Lord of the Dream in my first turn using warrior and paladin with scimitars and bleeders. The only annoying thing is that sometimes enemies can happen to have ability to exactly counter your build. For example, vampire boss is immune to poison when you choose poison build. ✓ Don't Judge a book by its Cover!Yes the art is very simple but the designer has admitted he cannot draw and couldn't afford to employ an artist at this stage. However, the game is very addictive and I have spent all my afternoon off playing this! Very difficult to stop having one more go! It's a great combination of dungeon exploration and card game. ✓ Best card roguelike on iOSThis game, as you will be able to tell by every single other review, does not look pretty. However, the quality and design of the game’s substance is absolutely amazing. It has such a huge variety in how it plays out and the choices that you can make in each play through that it is seriously hard to get bored of it even after a hundred hours. Each class has many many different ways it could play out, there is a vast pool of cards such that you will probably never come close to having the same deck twice by the last floor. And then you have the Professor class. Oh my, ever since unlocking this guy (which you can specifically choose to do fairly early if you want to, but for me it was only unlocked accidentally after playing for a few dozen hours), the game feels like a truly creative sea of cards and choices. The professor has the exclusive ability to copy cards from enemies’ decks... permanently. If you have played the game, you know that the cards enemies have could be devastating in a well built deck. Planning around what cards you might find, might steal, who might show up and counter your deck unless you do this or that... the scope and depth of the gameplay is nothing short of immense. Could not recommend more, even if it was ten times the price..Version: 1.12

✓ Fun roguelike with card battlesThis game combines the usual roguelike mechanics with an unusual combat system. While it is different to be sure, it works wonderfully. It's fairly difficult but as you progress and die, you unlock stuff which makes it easier for the next run. For fans of the genres, this is a must have. Things I'd like to see are a bit more balance (I seem to run into impossible enemies often) and option to perhaps spread out the floors (I.e. More floors and slower ramp-up of difficulty). It is first of all the most unique game I've ever played. It's a blend of two genres. Roguelike and deck building , in a fantasy environment. The game has more depth then any game I've played on iPad. You start with 4 base classes, and through unlocking achievements you will eventually have access to 13 classes. ✓ Don’t judge a game by it’s cover!This game has amazing depth to it, especially after unlocking the more special rule-changing classes, braving the hardest difficulty to take on a very ultimate endgame boss. It may seem difficult at first, randomly unfair and you will get stuck in unwinnable situations. But endure, spend your achievement points unlocking cards, permanent passives and traits (Don’t waste on reviving yourself)... and the amount and weight of the decisions you can make in game is amazing. Each character class is diverse in practically every way too, and not just skin deep. To think I found this game as an alternative for SLAY THE SPIRE not being on iOS (yet). It’s actually much better in all areas except for visual/sound presentation. It’s a real shame that many will overlook this true gem cause of that. No less than the creator of Magic: The Gathering, Richard Garfield, has blessed this game with his seal of approval. And even the graphics have a heartwarming story - the designer wanted to involve his young daughter in the creation of the game. This game blends together aspects of different game mechanics in an original way, and the end result is a game with replay value. ✓ Poster game for hidden gemsA straightforward bird's eye view dungeon crawler with combat against the baddies organized as a deck-building CCG (collectible card game). At the beginning, choose from among four character classes, each of which begins with a different deck and can earn access to different cards. Leveling up, finding treasure, and besting bad guys earns you new abilities or cards. Game achievements--and there are dozens--can upgrade starting conditions for all your characters, unlock new classes, or unlock new cards. Despite the lame music, tinny sounds, and unbelievably awful graphics (I mean, the cards are just digital stick figures, for chrissake), I cannot stop playing this game. The strategic depth is impressive, outstripping most games of any genre. Because each class has access to some cards but not others, your overall strategy at the beginning of each crawl is pretty much set, but resources (gold, health, mana, cards) are limited, and you're often forced to choose among them. Buy this new card or upgrade your mana capacity? Upgrade an old card or take a bunch of gold you can spend later on something as yet unknown? I very much hope the dev releases a second installment, with professional music, sound, and graphics. But this game, even in its current incarnation, is a standout. Notwithstanding its depth and sophistication, it's amazingly easy to play, requiring none of the micromanagement that is the lifeblood of most strategy heavy-hitters. ✓ The best.Best roguelike AND best card game I've played. Thoroughly solid mechanics. Just enough random chance that you do better in some runs than others, but that I've never screamed at it in dejected frustration. If I'm rolled a bad game, nonetheless it seems "fair" somehow. And for a game with so much random, there's definitely skill to it, and I've gotten progressively better over time. The achievements are always just barely reachable, and compelling to go after. ✓ My Favorite iOS GameSeriously. Excluding console ports like Final Fantasy Tactics and KotOR, this is my favorite game on my phone. Dozens or even hundreds of hours have disappeared over hundreds of playthroughs. The achievement system is innovative and engaging. The art, while simple, has a lot of charm. The gameplay is unique and insures you never get bored. And the struggle? Oh, it’s real. It took a long time to ‘beat’ the game with each class, and as far as actually taking the legendary Lord of the Dream to 0 HP, in my hundreds of games I have done it exactly three times. A poison-loving Wizard, a Shark Bite and Three Wishes-spamming Scientist, and a Dragon run with unlimited mana and a few Shrinks on hand. I fully intend to be playing this game years from now...unless the dev finally gets a sequel out..Version: 1.12

✓ It's not pretty... But...There are a lot of pretty games out there and this is not one of them. There are a few solid gameplay games and this is, most definitely, one of them! You won't beat this game in a single sitting, each death gets you a little further - opening up rewards for achievements/talents/new characters that will help along the way. You'll also refine your gameplay, learning how to tackle whatever the random dungeons can throw at you. You'll start to plan how you can make the cards that are available work for your chosen character and get really excited when you find a monastery that'll let you delete cards from your deck. ✓ OMG!Do not be put off by the graphics. This game is a fantastic gem. I found out about it through pocket tactics and there is no looking back. Pure, addictive, must have one last go, fun. It's a rogue like with randomised dungeons, lots of unusual creatures with their own strengths and weaknesses and battles using cards (and items) that you find in your travels. The dungeons aren't huge but there is a lot of variety and your success will depend on the class you choose and, by chance, a bit of luck and skill, of course. ✓ Fun gameCame across this while reading the updates to Ascension. Saw the reviews so figured it was worth a shot. Like other say, don't let the graphics fool you. It's a real deep game in the genre of Slay the Spire though this game is older than StS. ✓ What a great gameThis game is amazing. It’s got practically everything you can ask for. Long Term Progression, Card Collection, Rogue-like, Achievements, Exploration, Classes, and easy to understand game mechanics. The game itself doesn’t have beautiful card art but honestly it makes me enjoy the game a little more only because it feels like something I’d make. I have a few suggestions to make this game 5 stars. 1. Add more classes and more cards. 2. When picking Random for character select allow us to actually see which character it is before choosing our first floor bonus. 3. After playing for awhile I realized how difficult it is for me to truly enjoy my deck building. Add more levels and maybe have Missionaries Heal for some Gold as well. 4. Changing Teleport while on Cooldown to Rewind. If pressed again you can move back to where you originally pressed Teleport. Prevents from getting stuck behind a monster that’s literally impossible to beat. 5. Have an oasis on each floor maybe 75% of the time. 6. When the character levels up it should give them the option to take neither level up option. I would also enjoy a free card upgrade for every 3 levels. 7. It would be cool to have the option to upgrade spells. 8. Didn’t realize but Level 10 is the cap. This really hurts if you are taking the Ding Talent, maybe allow for any experience gained from monsters at the end of the fight gets turned into Health or Gold instead..Version: 1.12

✓ If you like slay the spire, buy this!!Okay, I looked at this game after everyone recommended it as the best mobile deck building rogue lite, and I was like... nope, it’s too ugly. I don’t usually prioritise graphics but this is too much to ask of me. Then I bought it, and three hours later I’m addicted as if I was playing slay the spire. The graphics do what they need to immerse you and then you’re hooked. ✓ Fun But Needs Better BalanceI don't normally write reviews but I thought I'd make an exception this time just to mention that while I've been having a blast, and the game is totally worth the money, it is also brutally unfair. I have beaten it with a couple of classes but some of the monsters are just ridiculous, or practically impossible for certain classes. Maybe it's just me, but I HATE building an awesome deck, just to get crushed by a clone two levels lower than me because it's using the same, near unbeatable deck... Except it eventually gets to draw way more cards if you don't kill it quickly enough. Also, the blob boss that always takes away key cards with no way of recovering them and no way to protect yourself from that attack. It's fun, but I hate the fact that the game OFTEN puts you in situations where there is literally no way to win..Version: 1.10
