MileWiz 2022 - Car Mileage Log for Negative User Reviews

Miles are way offFor some reason the miles reported by the app are way off. One trip was more than 200 off..Version: 21021.12.1

Stopped working since iOS update earlier in 2023.The developer stated they will make it compatible; to no avail. I tried to seek a refund, which is not possible. So, it works on 2022 iOS..Version: 2023.16.1

Could’ve been 5Would have been 5 stars until all my data was lost from having to sign back in..Version: 3.0.2

It keeps good track but...I think it should add automatically if it read the toll routes, will save us time for need of adding by giving the example if one pays (for example Sunpass in fl, or of you pay toll by plate). And it should also link with third parties of gps apps to be more exact ( use google maps or waze). Since sometimes it doesn't read the proper distance. Other than that good app..Version: 1.3

Too many glitchesIt will not let me sign into my iCloud account. It is breaking up my trips into smaller trips, and I cannot find any setting reasonably placed as an option to stop that from happening. It was random about two weeks ago. Now I have over 100 trips whereas I probably really only should have about 10 to 14..Version: 2023.16.1

Not recording journeys STILLNope. Still not registering most journeys.Version: 2022.3.1

I love it!Great app, awesome for taxes. The only issue I have is that you have to add places and addresses manually for places you frequently drive. It should connect to your contacts or pull up addresses by name from the web. It would save a ton of time with that feature. Otherwise, great app!.Version: 2.3

AvoidWorks really well for the first 6 months. Shame it’s a 12 month subscription..Version: 3.0

Missing a lot of journeysNot sure if it’s related to iOS15 but MileWiz is recently very poor at recognising journeys now.Version: 21021.12.1

Too much that doesn’t work for the priceI have paid the subscription for this, but it really is not worth the money. The issues have been long reported, ignored and left unaddressed. It kills the iPhone’s battery, it is inaccurate, it keeps nagging you to subscribe even when you have an active subscription and now the developer does not even bother to respond to bug reports..Version: 2022.3.1

You wrecked itNot sure what you did to this app, but it’s terrible. It constantly tells me, “You havent used wilewiz in a week.” Just now it told me it was terminated, whatever that means! And it keeps missing trips or recording a trip while I’m still driving. I’ll be getting something else though because this is dumb..Version: 4.1.5

This app always has issuesFrom the time it quit reading my automatic payment and wouldn’t let me use it to this latest issue of just not tracking my miles at all. I would guess this app has cost me hundreds of dollars. This week I’ve driven over 600 miles that it didn’t register at all. On both of these occasions I haven’t realized until days later that it isn’t working. As someone who’s very busy I just don’t have time to get on here everyday and make sure it works. I’m looking for a better mile tracking app..Version: 2.9.5

Not worth five dollars a monthOpen up the app it crashes. Can't schedule different hours during the week. Needs to be scheduled by the date not the day of week can't export monthly reports they lost 3 months of my trips when the program crashed every time I open it for a week in May 2015. They close tickets by notification then they say this resolves the problem. And you had to send them another email to tell him it doesn't resolve the problem. Should I go on.Version: 1.7

Doesn’t recordThis app started working out quite well but recently it doesn’t record my journey well at all. It only catches about 50% of the whole journey. I am now down to 200miles unrecorded mileage. I have only used it about 3 months so in an entire year it would not record about 800 business miles that’s not cool. I am looking for another option..Version: 2.9.11

👎🏼It worked great the first year so I paid for three yrs AND THEN IT JUST STOPPED WORKING about 8 ios upgrades ago. I dont think its compatible anymore..Version: 2.9.9

Lost $1,000 in mileage using this appSigned up a year ago and the app did what it said, then the auto renew did not auto renew and I lost an entire month of mileage. There’s a lot of mileage trackers available but don’t pay these guys for theirs, I won’t be using this one anymore, I need my miles as part of my income, no way would I ever again use this app..Version: 2022.3.1

Very badLost all my data and unable to retrieve and have to do taxes..Version: 4.1.7

More effort than it's worth.I really wanted to like this app because it has a lot going for it but I've ended up having to spend more time fixing the issues it causes than if I'd just used a paper log. I have had the GPS track really badly to the point where it was made up entirely fictional journeys where I hadn't even left the house that day. I'd also had trips that registered routes I didn't take, trips that stopped halfway through the trip and restarted many kilometres later and trips where the distance count was over 50km more than the actual distance travelled. Recently, I went to check my cars odometer reading on the app to see how accurate it was and it read 1354498048. My car only has 20,000 kms on it. :/ Not a good start for an app whose sole purpose is to log mileage. I've also had the app invent imaginary vehicles and begin tracking all my miles against those, so I've had to go back and edit every entry to fix them. I've had the app attribute the trips to the wrong driver so again I've had to go back and edit every entry to make sure the right driver was attached to the right trip. I'm just expending more effort fixing problems that are created by the app than its worth. Using a paper log would be more reliable and less work. The attraction of this app is that it's supposed to be "set and forget" but it's very far from this and if you need to reliably track your journeys this is not the app you are looking for..Version: 2.9.1

Not ReliableIPhone 4 Ver 7.1.2 - Don't reliably give trip, starts late, or breaks up trip into non-contiguous pieces, so can't be merged. If tou swipe to indicate trip is business, it indicates this was done, and gives kudos, but trip totally disappears. If you edit a trip to indicate it was business is OK unless you forget to click done, then it disappears, never to be found. Worse yet it eats the battery even if stationary with app not "open". Worse than useless..Version: 1.5

Poor (No) technical supportIn common with another recent review the app has stopped recording mileage consistently and the only reply I had from support was “well mine is working okay”. Not acceptable when I have subscribed and relied on the app for years. Cancelled my subscription and looking for an alternative…..I have received new a message from the developer and will give the updated app a shot now. I will update my review if necessary..Version: 2022.3.1

Not recording tripsI have used this app for a couple of years now with only a few minor hiccups. In the last 6-8 weeks the system has not been recording all trips and I have lost over £1000 in fuel expenses. I have tried to make contact with the help desk via the app twice but no one seems to want to respond. I have a yearly subscription and feel I am getting ripped off because nobody cares. ! Switching to another app sorry MileWiz not good customer care..Version: 2021.46.1

Auto-detect mph is too lowThe developer of VehiCal stopped updates, so I've been trying MileWiz for the past two months. The GPS auto tracking of distance is convenient BUT as stated, it quickly depletes the battery. Another problem is their speed setting for detecting/assuming driving is way too low. I think I read somewhere that the setting is 3 mph. Well, after the first time I drove with the app on, I found several earlier enteries. ??? I walk much faster than 3 mph, which the dates of those earlier entries correspond to locations of my walks. So, SilverWiz LLC, please consider allowing the user to set the speed for when the app should consider as driving mode AND adding the Location Services option "While using the app" instead of just Never and Always. (Note: with the app Always on, it probably tracks runners and bikers mileage too as they travel faster than 3 mph.) For now, I have to turn the app off after driving and then remember to turn it on before driving. Might as well go back to manual entries....Version: 2.5.1

Can be a cumbersome but dev team is responsive. The Good: Lays out your trips in separate little maps. Very cool at-a-glance info. Gripes: Free trial period then you have to pay. Opens to the uncategorized page by default. If you categorize your trips, that means the app will open to a blank page, forcing you to make the time-consumingly needless extra step of swiping to the see the All tab. If you want to re-categorize, you can't swipe. That would be too convenient for end users, who the dev team wants to remind who's boss instead of making an organic intuitive-feeling interface. Once you get to your maps, they're great. Leaning towards Everlance..Version: 2.3

InaccurateI let it run in the background for a day and it picked up my walking but not my driving! :( epic fail there.Version: 1.7

Horrible appI reviewed all the mileage app on the market last May and decided to sign up for this app. I paid for the entire year. It was working fine until they changed to a new version in December or January. They told me that they were fixing the bugs and it would be a couple of weeks to fix. I was patient. I have been emailing them for over two months to fix the problem. It works sometimes and then it doesn't work. The customer support is terrible or non existent. I asked them to call me and they won't. The point is; don't buy this app. I have emails to back this stuff up..Version: 2.3

SetupI'll rate it higher or lower once I've used it driving but tried setting up my profile for when I work and it's very limited. It thinks everyone works day time hours. I work at night and it won't accept 10pm to 8am. So I assume it won't read my driving correctly???.Version: 2.1

Ok then misses journeysWhen I first bought this app 2 years ago it worked fantastically. Then over the last year or so it’s stopped recording some Journeys, only way around this is by deleting the app and re installing in which is really annoying. Developers blame it on apple??.Version: 2.9.11

Started off great but now...It would be a 4 star app (it records me moving around my house most days unless I turn it off but then forget to turn it on when I go to work, I'd say that's my only fault) but now it just keeps crashing. Hopefully this can be fixed ASAP in an update as I can't use it anymore. Opens, crashes..Version: 1.6.1

So much potentialBut it just crashes all the time..Version: 1.6.1

Drains batteryI like the concept. The way you choose business or personal with a swipe is smart. I find my battery drains faster since I installed this app..Version: 1.0.0

Incorrect and missing tripsThis app worked ok at first but more recently it is missing trips all together and when it does record them the mileage is way out. Shame as it was the best of its type a while ago and I was paying a subscription to use it but now I have had to cancel. I contacted support and they have said there is nothing they can do about..Version: 3.0.2

Bought subscription but I DO NOT like it!It tracks when I’m walking, or a passenger or on transit. It’s increasing my mileage amount which will change the ratio of business to personal (actual driving). Not meant for someone who doesn’t just drive. Wish I could get my money back.Version: 2.9.5

Miles are logged incorrectly requiring constant maintenance.I have given up on this app. It requires constant maintenance and mileage ratchets up faster than my odometer. I often notice that the slipping happened over many previous trips. Apps with manual entry have proven quicker, more efficient, and accurate than MileWiz. Performance for price is not there. Subscriber beware..Version: 4.1.7

Not tracking consistentlyThe app was tracking my trips well at first but now only picks up about 1/3 of my driving trips and this is after I paid the $40 for the year. I have restarted the app and restarted my phone and it has not fixed the problem. Please fix and update the app especially since it's not cheap..Version: 2.6.3

The battery drainer that won't dieMileWiz was one of a bunch of similar apps I tested. It looked okay, but in the end, I decided on a different app. But MileWiz wouldn't quietly go away—it kept posting notifications saying it had been disabled for a week and asking if I 'want to start saving on [my] mileage'. I also noticed it still using up a lot of my battery, so I swiped it off the screen thinking that would surely kill it. Many days later, with my battery draining faster than expected, I look in 'Settings > Battery' to see who the worst offenders are, and there at the top of the list is MileWiz at 36% (still monitoring my 'Background Location'). Second is the Phone app at 21%, and third is the other driving log book app—the one I actually used today for two trips—at only 11%. (MileWiz tops the list for the last 7 days too.) Now here's the crazy thing… I just opened up the app, and down the bottom left of the hamburger menu, it says 'Tracking is disabled'. What is this new devilry—the location tracking that won't die?! The answer seems apparent when you go into Settings > Milewiz. Location is set to 'Always' (the only other option is 'Never') and Background App Refresh is turned on, and greyed out so you can't turn it off. (My other logbook app has Location set to 'Always' too, but it uses much less battery.) I'm about to permanently delete MileWiz off my phone. Let's see if it still manages to drain my battery after that!.Version: 2.8

Haven't been able to open app in 3 monthsKeeps crashing, after attempting to open app. I really hope it's still on and keeping track of my mileage for my business. Otherwise I'm screwed. Bought the year long subscription. Probably gonna switch to a better, more accessible and less glitchy app next year. I've got the iPhone 7 so I know it's not cause I've got an old phone. Used to love it 3 months ago..Version: 2.5.1

Looks Great, Beware of Charges and FlawsI chose this app because it looked great and promised the features I needed. However, I was disappointed to find it stopped working after 20 single trips and requested a upgrade to a paid option. And when I say trips, if you stop for a few minutes, it stops and considers that journey a trip! The report it generates is hard to use if you merge any trips as it doesn't note the individual addresses, just start and end. Disappointing!.Version: 2.3

My reviewGreat app, if it does what it says. Sometimes doesn't follow commands to use only for a day, sometimes works perfectly. Needs to be more consistent especially as a go to for tax purposes.Version: 2.9.2

Stay Clear, I’m moving to Mile IQSame as previous reviewer used to work now it doesn’t, stops tracking a trip halfway through and doesn’t start it again until miles later. Tracks random trips when I have even left the house! I’ve tried changing accuracy settings and waiting times etc, none of it made a difference. It’s that bad I’m leaving with 6 months left on my subscription, I’d like a partial refund but doubt I’ll get one!.Version: 2.9.11

Used to workNow it’s useless. Auto tracking fails Everything entered manually. Not fit for purpose contact me as I require a refund please.Version: 2.9.10

I give upKeeping track of mileage is serious business for self-employed folks confronting Schedule C & related IRS business forms yearly. This thing crashes more frequently than not on my iPhone 6+, while similar (allegedly automated) apps invariably cause spontaneous reboots. I finally gave up, researched, & purchased the 2d generation Automatic Smart Assistant dongle, which plugs into your (post-1996) car's OBD-2 port. No hassle installation & setup. Has an IFTTT channel, which yields tech info heaven per your precise desires. Grabbed the related free app here. Problem solved-- beautifully, efficiently & reliably..Version: 1.6.1

UnreliableI downloaded this app with the promise of it being automatic. It didn't live up. I was almost ready to pay the outrageous in app purchases. But it failed to log 4 trips. So I'll stick to manual apps. Mileage Log is great. This app is for suckers..Version: 1.6

Poor reading of your tripsReally poor reading of your trips. Either records the whole as short trip you need to group together or only record part of it. Provide feedback and was give a suggestion to group them. Should need to do this..Version: 2.9.7

BewareApp worked for a few months then today deleted all my trips and won’t stay open. App crashes repeatedly. Absolutely DO NOT recommend this app..Version: 21021.12.1

Great until….After several years of use without issues the other day milewiz decided to uncategorise over 550 of my journeys…. I can see no way to restore a backup so it seems all f this data is lost. To say this is a minor issue would be an understatement. Lesson being do not rely on this, be better organised than I have been and regularly export backups!!.Version: 21021.12.1

Missing journeysThe app seems to be a lot less responsive recently and is missing journeys.Version: 3.0.3

Used to be brilliantLike the last reviewer this app was brilliant, I’ve had it for a few years, then in the past year it stopped working, only recording old bits of the trips. I’ve tried Support to get this issue fixed. After several emails and reinstalls it still isn’t working so I’m going to have to cancel it and delete the app. It’s a real shame as it was a great app once..Version: 2.9.6

Battery drain! While the app is really useful, accepting all the prompts to turn location services to ‘always on’ drains my battery. Will have to ignore the nagging to conserve energy!.Version: 2022.20.1

Frustrating all of a suddenI’ve been using this app for two years it was great up until recently. It is extremely difficult to get a hold of the developers for any kind of support. It keeps telling me that I’m out of free trips when I’ve been faithfully paying every month. It stopped tracking monetary amounts a year ago. I did manage to get somebody on the phone then they told me it would reset. It did not, know I can’t find a phone number. Also doesn’t track accurately any longer, super disappointed. The developer doesn’t seem to care any longer..Version: 2.9.11

It use to be good....Originally this app worked great. The only part I didn’t like was the year end report did not have a way to add my company name. It was just a looonnngggg list of my business trips but didn’t state my company name at the top. THEN..... about a month ago it started breaking my trips into a ton of small ones and mileage was missing! I could drive 50 miles one way and get 10 notices from the app and only half the mileage was there if you add them all up. I guess the app was crashing en route. Contact support and they were quick to respond, however now I have to jump through some hoops to get it going again by signing up for a syncbits account to keep my data and then deleting the app and reinstalling. If I’m paying a monthly fee I would expect the app to work correctly. BTW, this is the first review of an app I’ve ever done which shows how irritated enough I am with it that I would write my first review..Version: 2.9.7

Great App but slow nowThis app is a great idea, as soon as you get in your car it starts logging your mileage. Great for people like me that forget to write it all down. BUT the new update has really slowed down the categorisation process. You swip across and 20 seconds later it I freezes and let's you do the next entry. A pain when you have a week's worth to do..Version: 2.1

Great app and perfect for picking up all journeys..BUT eats battery like mad!!Great app, I occasionally missed the odd trip and I have not missed any since using this. However my battery life is 50% worse when using the app. Also it would be great to customise the reports a bit more, for example to remove the time..Version: 2.6.2

Really has lost it lately! After years of happy use this app has become virtually useless. Every day I’m having to spend time manually adding and amending failed trips it’s got to go now! 😡.Version: 2021.46.1
