✓ Gone downhillThis app was really useful until about a week ago. That’s when they introduced ads. I don’t object to using ads to fund app development, but this coincided with the app becoming useless. It no longer provides tracking info for my local buses, only timetabled stops (which anyone who has used buses in the UK knows is next to no use in predicting when or whether they will turn up!) Is tracking available on the paid version? I am happy to pay for it, but it doesn’t tell you anywhere! So no, I am deleting it and finding an alternative bus app. It gets two stars on the basis that is WAS useable previously!.RedfoxgloveVersion: 10.28.1

✓ Change for the absolute worse.Absolutely despise the updated version of the app. The constant adverts popping up are so infuriating and inconvenient. I don’t see the need for them and to expect users to pay £3.49 for them to be removed is just ludicrous and disgusting. Probably wouldn’t mind if the app had improved for the better. Can’t even check tour bus without an advert popping up, any click on the app, an ad pops up. What a pathetic attempt at marketing and advertising - causing inconvenience so people delete your own app. The update deleted my saved stops - again, adding to the inconvenience. Furthermore and probably more importantly, the bus times aren’t even accurate and doesn’t show all operators/services. No option to filter the type of transport. This update has gone back steps not forward. Layout isn't great either, can’t even find options you need, hidden features or just gotten rid of. No use for the ticket feature. ✓ Used to be OK, now completely uselessI used to rely on this app quite a lot. Although it wasn’t perfect, it was useful for getting information about local bus services, scheduled times and routes. It wasn’t much help if the buses weren’t running to schedule, but without real time GPS data that would be an unreasonable expectation. Then it changed, and they monetised it. Now every time I access it I have to dismiss an annoying google pop up. I know the intent is to make us pay £3.49 for the app to get rid of the app except the same time they introduced the monetisation the wrecked the interface. All my favourites have disappeared but, worst of all, the app no longer gives extended schedule data. It used to be that the app showed all scheduled buses departing from a stop for a period several hours ahead. This was immensely useful when planning mixed train and bus journeys. Now, the information delivered spans the next hour or so only and sometimes it doesn’t include all available services. At the moment it’s more likely that I’ll delete the app than fork out any money for it as an app that gives incorrect or incomplete info is worse than one that doesn’t give any information at all in my view..OctavedoctorVersion: 10.29.1

✓ New obtrusive adsBeen using this app for years. It’s great - extremely accurate and can be used anywhere in the country. They have always had adverts, however with their recent app upgrade they have changed the format so a full screen ad pops up every-time you go to do something, and rather than non obtrusive banner ads, you’re now forced to watch a video for 5 seconds. It isn’t very long- but equally it is when it pops up all the time!!! Make them less frequent, or bring back the banner ads please. ✓ Awful glitchy appThis app is truly awful. Do not rely on this if you are travelling! It eats your phone battery, glitches out constantly, and although is advertised as real time bus times, it’s actually just the scheduled routes and times you can get from anywhere. Have been waiting several times when it says the bus is nearly here, for it to just disappear off the apps list as it was never really a live time anyway. ✓ NO Cloud SynchronisationBe warned when you download this UK Bus Checker app, it does NOT have cloud synchronisation support. I found this extremely annoying as it took precious time out of my day :(. When I contacted technical support regarding this issue, they even confirmed that this feature isn’t available. If you get a new handset, all of your saved bus stops will need to be reentered again manually which is a dam nuisance. So please bear this in mind when purchasing a new device or handset! I gave this app a 2 star rating purely because you can save the bus stops & rename them. However this app still needs a lot of improvements & updates..MikeyM84Version: 6.3.18

✓ The only departure I can find is the departure of any meaningful interaction with voiceoverFor many years Bus Checker has been amongst the most accessible bus apps to use with the voiceover screen reader. I thought I must be missing something when I downloaded the updated version. Surely no developer would completely eradicate all the advances made in accessibility. Surely no developer would want the acalade of being the only one that I know of to completely strip out any means by which blind people can access this app. Surely no developer would not notice these things and let it carry on for months. Surely no developer would either not notice, or still worse be disinterested in fixing this issue. The text and list based format of the previous versions were accessible, and useable - I do not know where to begin with this app as a blind person. ✓ Does a half-decent job but...It is basically a skin for Google Maps and suffers from the same limitations - principally assuming virtually instantaneous transfers between services and that things run to the minute. So it will often work out the correct route but may give a wildly optimistic journey time if connecting into an infrequent service - you’ll miss the first one and the next one may be two hours later. So fine in cities with buses running every few minutes, but look very closely at the details of any journey using trains or country buses. Also for some reason time at my local stop are two minutes after the bus has left. So turn up a few minutes early for infrequent services..David EdgeVersion: 6.3.13

✓ Used to be amazingI used to have this app all the time until it started showing some of the stops. Every single stop that I used would suddenly not show on that map. I’ve tried reinstalling it, I’ve tried shutting down my phone, I’ve tried changing my settings on the app but it would still not show the stops that I would use. ✓ Updated version much worse.I can understand including ads on free apps, and didn’t mind the in screen ones in the previous versions of this app. Unfortunately the full screen, timed ads now make what has become a long-winded process even worse. In my region (north east England), it seems okay, but doesn’t seem to have correct information for Bank Holidays (public holidays), or doesn’t present it correctly. The loss of the widget is a real pain, it was a great time saver. I’m unlikely to use the new ticketing feature, as none of the bus companies in my area are included..RedWendiVersion: 10.28.1

✓ Worse than uselessToday this app was worse than useless and wasted an hour for me. At 12:55 this app reported that the service 376 from Street, Somerset, to Bristol would be at my stop at 13:45 so I didn’t rush to the stop only to see my bus leave the stop just before I got there. The timetable says 29 and 59 minutes past the hour but the app still said 13:45. I went for a cup of tea, ready to return for that time only to see my bus, once again, disappear in the distance. This meant that I had to wait again for my bus, which turned up at the time on the timetable - 13:59 - just over an hour after I first accessed this app. The app still said 13:45 (and again at 14:45 and 15:45). ✓ Used to be great. Now useless after update.This was my go to app for public transport. I paid to go ad free. Now it has been updated. Now in order to use my app I have to go through a sign up procedure in I see to use the app I have paid for to use app free. I don’t want to give you my details. I bought this through the App Store to know it is safe. I can see the data that they collected before and now there is more data being collected in order to use it. I feel let down. ✓ Invasive AdvertsThis used to be a good app, but the new update conceals favourites and forces a slow, invasive full screen advert whenever you click on a bus stop. At least one of these adverts had a fake close icon that tricks you in to opening it. This is just too much and causes me just to get angry every time I need a bus time. ✓ Was so good but not so much nowI used to use this as my one-stop app for the bus service in my area. Now, though, I’ve had to download the individual apps for the local bus companies as I’ve found I can’t trust what this one is telling me. The timings just don’t match when the buses actually arrive. Even the ones that are showing as a live update travel time are often out by 5 or even 10 minutes. ✓ Map to smallAfter the latest up grade so you can see the buses is good but after selecting the stop it takes over the screen making the map too small. Need to be able to see map screen in full screen if you want. You have to remember we’re looking on phones here not laptops. This is something you need to sort out quickly. Please tell me why in your infinite wisdom you now don’t have the choice to say I want bus journeys only. If it is still there where have you hidden it. Another case of programmers fixing something that’s not broke. Started using google maps for buses now far more relit and more choices. This app has slowly gone from bad to worse. Please tell me why you have taken away the facility to be able to press on a bus stop and say get me here, or the other option get me from here. ✓ Stopped workingWas a great app until one day it stopped recognising the bus stop i use everyday, then one day it simply stopped working all together. Thankfully i found another bus app thats easier to use and has not let me down yet. It’s a shame as when it worked it was mostly reliable. However, When it worked It would also show buses to my stop that no longer ran and hadn’t for a while. ✓ Gone massively backwards for blind people using VoiceoverThe old UK BusChecker was really accessible with Voiceover, the native screen reader for IOS. However, this new updated one with the option to buy tickets etc, you know, the one they want you to use, is completely inaccessible. How can a company who clearly knows about accessibility leave disabled people in the lurch like this. Its not enough to think that we must do with the old version as that will ultimately stop being updated and be useless as, presumably, it will no longer be supported. So, why the learning from one app to the other can’t be a thing is anyone’s guess. ✓ DisappointingThe old version of this app was so much better. Please could you consider the following: 1. The bus stop letters were visible straight away on the old map. You have to zoom in now and it lags. 2. What is the purpose of having some, but not all, buses routes written in grey on the map? Just clutters everything. 3. Messages about diversions, delays and closures are not as easy to spot as they were in the old version. Also they are often missing altogether. 4. When you click into a particular bus route the route map is not interactive - you can’t see the stop names or letters and you can’t click directly onto them which is helpful if you’re looking to change buses. 5. Please could you respond to these feedback suggestions? 6. All the above were features on the old app. Why have they been removed? ✓ Wrong app for checking bus timeI’ve been using this application for more than 2 months. It shows the wrong bus time to you. For example: once I had an important appointment and I checked my bus time in this application but it was showing three minutes later than the bus real time. I didn’t know that, and when I went to the bus stop my bus had already gone and the next bus was coming in 30 minutes. I totally do not recommend this app to you. ✓ Not as good as the previous version.Whilst I understand the need to make improvements, I believe the functionality of this app has got worse rather than better. 1. The audio feedback anouncements is no longer present. 2. Favouriting a stop has too many steps. 3. Live route information is now a blob on a map with no indication of where you are! In the previous version there was a list and you could see the stops in relation to the live tracking. The stops were shown at the bottom left with distance between each. If you’re going to have a blob on the screen at least show which stop it is by name. 4. Why isn’t there an Apple Watch App? I’ve used this app for years and it was always great to use, unfortunately it really does need the UI cleaning up. I’m visually impaired and rely on apps such as this, you really need to sort out the UI because swiping up is not always the best solution to get to your favourites, just put another tab at the bottom..CfoxyVersion: 10.28.1

It’s so frustrating when you are trying to check for the next bus as a bus is approaching and you’re forced to watch a 60 second app. It may not seem long but when you are in a rush it’s the worst thing. ✓ Change it back!I’ve been relying on this app for years now and never had any issues with it. Now it’s been updated and things have changed it doesn’t work as well! ✓ Precise, but not easy to understandVery reliable, is able to precisely show the bus arriving times in real time on various cities of the UK. This is a amazing as no other if the big app as are able to be this precise. The only bad point is that it’s not the most intuitive app. I had a friend explain how to best use it and understand how to save the most useful bus stops so you are not searching every time. ✓ Bad. Very bad.This used to be an excellent app for checking bus times and routes. But now as others have said it’s been rendered almost useless. Times are not accurate and where once you could see where the next bus was on the map, now nothing but a line between the start and end of the route. And those adverts are very very annoying. ✓ A step back in the ‘improved’ transit route!I have used this app every day for years and found it really useful to see all the stops on a particular route and then be able to see where I am long that route. You’ve now gotten rid of that and have put in more invasive ads with your latest update. ✓ Where’s my bus stop?The app itself is fantastic, but it does not show all bus stops. I contacted support, as my bus was not in the app. I was told that there is nothing they can do, as they have to rely on the sources, where the information comes from. This is a shame, hopefully where they source their information from. It may get updated to include more bus routes. ✓ The new ads get in the way of using the appAs annoying as ads can sometimes be, the new ones on this app are at a new low. If you’re in a rush and need to check a time, forget it because you’ll have to watch through an ad that can’t be skipped first. This app used to be reliable and has now lost its functionality. The live timings seem to have gotten a lot worse too and often don’t show up at all. The ads also pause any music or podcasts you’re listening to which is incredibly annoying too. In general I think ads are a good thing as they allow apps to be free however, in this case they actually stop the app from functioning well which I think is a huge issue. ✓ App is no longer accessible for blind usersUsed to be 5 star. The recent update to the app has made it inaccessible for blind users. I could quickly view depature times for the current bus stop but the new interface doesnt work with the screen reading software i am using. I also liked the simple layout of the old version but now, there's no difference between this app and Moovit. If the accessibility issues aren't fixed then I'll be using Moovit instead. ✓ UnusableThe original version was useful and simple to use. Since the recent update this app is terrible and unusable. The full page adds are so intrusive that it’s impossible to get the information you’re looking for quickly. They’ve also removed the Apple Watch app completely, which I used to find very useful to monitor live bus arrival times.
