Best Sound Meter (sound pressure level) is an app which can measure the actual sound level meter with dB.
It uses your built-in microphone and shows a reference.
You have to know that the built-in microphones were aligned to human voice (300-3400Hz, 40-60dB). Therefore the maximum values are limited by the hardware limitation, and very loud sound (100+ db) cannot be recognized.
Remember that it's only a device for fun and please use it as an auxiliary tool.

✗ Poor simulation of a scientific instrumentI wouldn't expect an app designed for iPads and iPhones to be accurate. The real deal is a very complex piece of equipment. However, this app is dreadful. The sound level is given (presumably) in dBA and is nowhere near expected results even when the so called "calibration" is turned up to "20". The human voice at a distance of 6 feet usually gives a reading of about 55 to 65 dBA - this app gives about 30 after turning up the calibration. What would you expect in an app that spells "whisper" as "whishper"......... ....in the bin..Version: 1.0.2
