✓ Really disappointingAs practically every review has noted, this is a horribly frustrating game. The gameplay is simple and fun- drop the dominos into place to match colors- but the interface is badly designed. The hair trigger release on the dominos often drops them in a different column that intended. And once a single domino is dropped in the wrong place, it can ruin an entire game. I've quit dozens of games in frustration, and used to assume it was my mistake, but nothing I've tried has improved the situation. It's just a poor design, and other reviewers seem to agree. I'd also point out that, despite numerous reviews consistently calling out this flaw in the game, the app hasn't been updated in more than a year. Unfortunately they have taken the fun parts from both games and threw them in the bin, kept the bad parts and made this game! Why? ✓ Lots of potentialThe way the game is setup right now requires too much luck. More balancing needed. You sit there waiting for a piece that you can actually work with. Either the algorithm for the pieces you get needs to anticipate your current board setup to make it less possible to get frustrated as there's more luck than skill involved. There needs to be more board, or less combination of pieces. Any of the three adjustments can make this game one of the best puzzle games. ✓ SchmuckThis game does not seem designed to rely on skill, any more than suffocating in a sealed room in a ship going underwater relies on skill. I think the easiest fix out be to he able to see two dominoes ahead, rather than just one otherwise, what's the point of tracking a high score? The other idea would be the ability to flip the domino upside down. ✓ Good game that needs some tweaksFirst off, this is a really addicting game. As they say, easy to learn and hard to master. The music and sound effects are great. My biggest problems with this game include (as mentioned several times) the sensitivity of the controls. Can't tell you how many times I accidentally dropped a tile in the wrong place. Second, also mentioned is the lack of option to rotate the tiles. Third is (totally my opinion) excessive and unnecessary animation prior to the game starting. Finally, when you're playing the game, if you turn your iPad, the game doesn't rotate. I think this game is great and is an update or two from being perfect. Edit: after playing this game for a few weeks, I continue to enjoy the game itself but the animations the begin every game is completely ruining it for me..JJT3Version: 1.0.1

✓ Leaves much to be desired.While dominoes are fun, having the concept of game turned into a Bejeweled-like game limits the gameplay. Candy Crush, while a game I'm not a fan of, has executed that very well and their "Candy" concept allows for more rewarding and satisfying gameplay. Bigger chains, combos, and a variety of mechanics keeps its players playing. Domino Drop just doesn't have that longevity. This game is a time-killer for sure, but only for the first few minutes you start it up. Even its alternative game modes, while adding a new gameplay element and difficulty, is worn thin within the first few rounds. The upside is that the presentation is nice. The graphics, animations, the UI, and the music hold up pretty well. But at the end of the day, playing with real physical dominoes (whether it be an actual game of dominoes or you lining them up to knock themselves over) will give you more enjoyment than Domino Drop..RoastedToastedOatsVersion: 1.0.1

✓ Controls get in the wayAs others have mentioned, this game would be perfect if lifting your finger didn't drop the current piece. If I am dragging a piece side to side and want to reposition my finger, or even click pause, it drops the piece. Instead, I think a second gesture like a distinct tap should be used to place, or even a button off to the side. This is not a fast-paced game like Tetris; it is thoughtful and calm, so there is no reason for hair-trigger controls. If anything, they make the game less calm and incite screaming. I can only imagine how frustrating this must be for people who have trouble with their hands. Another design issue, this one minor: the view is semi-3D, so you see the top edge of the current row. However, the rest of the pieces below that row do not really appear 3D, and you see only their face. This makes the top row look blurry and misaligned with the background grid (once I saw it, I can't un-see it). I really like the rest of the design aesthetic, but I don't think there's any reason for the pieces to be shown this way. Purely face-on would be less distracting..DaleBartonVersion: 1.0.1

✓ Could do with a bit of tweaking...I'm not sure why there isn't an option to rotate the pieces? I think it might just make it more enjoyable to have a little more control and give the player the option of making each run last a bit longer. ✓ Gorgeous and frustratingThis is one of the most beautiful games I have ever seen. Very clean, great music, amazing sound. The clack clack of the colliding dominos has kept me coming back way more that I would have ever expected. I can't tell if I like the game or not though! Not being able to rotate the dominos means you are mostly at the mercy of the RNG. There seems to be a pattern of what you get sometimes, but you often end up with big gaps or 2-3 blocks of white buried under a layer of colors. You can try to leave yourself the maximum number of openings, but sometimes you just get totally boned. It is very very easy to drop a piece one space to the left or right of where you intended to, and that means you basically lose immediately. This game deserves an apple design award solely on its amazing tactility and music. The gameplay is endlessly frustrating though..TaylorheffernanVersion: 1.0.1

✓ Great game, BUT...To start off, this game is a very well designed, with a unique twist on the traditional Tetris-style gameplay. The soundtrack is relaxing and compliments the game very well. The menu animations, and the menu itself, loading in the game, etc., are all very very smooth. Great work done by the developers in these areas. However, the frustrating game itself seems to curb my fondness for the app overall. A game will not last more than a few minutes, on average. The shortness of each game does not allow of enthusiasm to build as much as I would like. If game modes were introduced that would allow me to play each game for a longer period of time, my enjoyment of this game would increase exponentially. Perhaps introducing a game mode where you are able to turn the domino? Or maybe swap the current domino with the coming domino. ✓ It’s okayThe music is great and visuals aren’t bad but the biggest thing that bugs me is that it’s extremely hard to match tiles to where you can recover or make any kind if combo’s. It’s near impossible to clear lines and it relies too heavily on luck. It would be better if you had another grid or two vertically. It has potential to be a good game. Unintuitive game play but ultimately this game has horrible controls, even if you are super careful it is constant the amounts of dropping dominos in the wrong spots, for a game that has no other hook than move left or right and release this is egregious. ✓ Fun for a whileAll that the other reviewer's have said about the graphics, the engagement, is all true. And it makes enjoyable for a while. However there seems to be something in the algorithm that is "intentionally" designed to defeat the player. Having played many games in which nearly all of them ending with a necessary tile showing up precisely the next moment after it has been covered and no longer available and Thus possible to be played; it seems clear that something more than simple randomness is at play. And that can be fun for a while. It certainly is time-consuming. After a while you realize you're not playing a game that has normal chance and random possibilities based upon the rules, But one in which you are trying to defeat an algorithm that is programmed against you. In this regard it is like watching the poor souls in Las Vegas pulling haplessly, but hopefully, at their computer driven slot machines. It may be fun going into the engagement with high hopes; only to find it is programmatically impossible to win. From this point of view/observation one could steer off into interesting sociological observations about our times. Comparisons to the Kafkaesque the nature of the engagement come to mind. ✓ A Slightly Boring Average GameWhen I first played Domino Drop I found it pretty boring. It's pretty simple and there isn't much to it although some people may really enjoy the simplicity. The old fashioned music wasn't particularly catchy in my opinion, but again that is all down to personal tastes. Maybe you could keep the old fashioned record music and add some modern day music into the game as well? I like how there are three different modes but it took me a while to understand one of the modes. I was also pleased to see that there were no annoying advertisements during the gameplay so thumbs up for that.
