Ravenscroft 275 Piano for Negative User Reviews

Bluetooth only works through garageband.I tested the app in garageband on my ipad with a midi file. sounded good. when i opened the app to connect my yamaha clav via bluetooth midi, it crashed. same happened on my iphone. korg module scans and connects fine but ravenscroft crashes. work around is to not use it standalone but through garageband. sounds good but recording was a bit crackly on iphone. ok on ipad..Version: 1.1.5

Unreliable, sounds great.Forever having to go into it in AUM and swap preset in order to get it working again. (It gets a red border around it and stops making sound) It sounds great. Crashes more than any other AUv3 I have. I think the recent update helped a bit. Doesn’t really make me want to stock up on other VILabs plug-ins..Version: 1.1.10

Popping SoundsLove the sound but there some bugs that still need to be worked out. It crashes a lot with the red box. If I'm playing live, I can't have the app crashing on me. Not sure if it's the app or my version iPad. I Have an iPad Air 1 and every other piano app I use works just fine. Does it work better on the iPad Pro?.Version: 1.0.3

Great sound but crashes in backgroundThis used to be my go too Piano app however since its been update it continually crashes whilst playing in the background which is never used to do. Now it is impossible to play along with other apps whilst in the back which is highly disappointing.Version: 1.1.6

CONTROLS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO USEThis app use virtual control knobs. They are very very difficult to adjust up or down, and a couple refuse to go up much or down much. I have tried so many times and ways, and have been patient, but the developer has been inconsiderate enough to make this app extremely difficult to use. Other apps uses sliding controls, but i guess the esthetics of the look the developer wanted to achieve outweighed making it convenient for the paying user to actually use the app..Version: 1.1.12

Help required for Kawai VPC1I haven’t been able to get this to work with my Kawai VPC1 and iPad. Any help would be useful. Thank you in advance..Version: 1.1.11

Sounds great but…I’ve just recorded a piece on GarageBand. Seven minutes of dialogue and added improvised Ravenscroft piano.I then emailed it to myself. When I listened back to the email the piano didn’t appear until a minute into the track! I tried everything I could think of, to no avail. As the piano track was improvised there was no way I could just re-record it.It had to be scrapped. And replaced with the stock GarageBand piano.which obviously doesn’t sound as good. I first bought your product 2 years ago and was really impressed until the glitches started and perfectly good takes had to be erased.(pedal information disappearing mostly) Please sort this out.It sounds great but it’s still too problematic for me to use on a daily basis.I work fast and it slows me down too much..Version: 1.1.12

Nice sound despite problemsGreat sounding piano. Nice definition and tone. However I wish UVI would beta test more seriously before release. The app still has performance issues since last update and now there no sound on iphone. Beathawk has similar issues and for the price it just does’t deliver..Version: 1.0.9

Great piano sound terrible glitchesI’m using an iPad Pro the sounds are better than my Nord pianos but I can’t record because of the pops and cracks that just pop up. I’m not confident to take this out live because of this. Great sound but unusable regretting paying £35.Version: 1.1.3

Slight popping and sudden feedback disturbs an otherwise great experienceI love this app, the sound is amazing. But even on an IPad Pro updated to current IOS, and running only Ravenscroft, there is audible popping and then every few minutes sudden harsh feedbacks that requires restarting the app. If this can be fixed I would give this 5 stars as an app..Version: 1.0.7

Not the bestEveryone wants to be the best and this app is not the exception, but sadly this app is definitely not the best. It advertises itself as amazing but there are other piano apps way better than this one. The app is very limited in piano sounds and what it can do. Then there is the sound... not real enough, not bad but not good enough. IK multimedia has a way better piano app for a fraction of the cost. Don’t get his app unless you like to waste your money. You have been warned..Version: 1.1.9

Best sound but major problem iOS 13This is the best sounding piano that I have ever used, but when you use it in GarageBand in midi mode, and have to edit a note it deletes the damper pedal info. Then there is no damper pedal at all and you can’t get it back even on undo or step back. Please fix this problem ASAP..Version: 1.1.3

Popping and crackling noiseBrilliant piano sound but unusable because of constant popping and cracklings while playing. They have had six updates and offered no fix for the problem even though it’s a wide spread problem. I am wondering if they are unable to fix it, if so they should pull it off the market until they find a fix. Those who are have the problems are using the recommended IPad and beyond Thus one star for unplayable..Version: 1.0.7

No sound when e porting through Garage bandSound quality and interface are amazing. When I export the sound through garage band there is no audio. The file is totally silent. Any help with this issue would be amazing!.Version: 1.1.12

Not useable due to sound latencyRavenscroft 275 I can’t recommend this product. I already own the desktop version of the Ravenscroft 275. I thought it would be nice to have an iPad version for simplicity. I was hoping to connect my midi control via USB-C and listen through my BlueTooth AirPods. It worked but unfortunately there is a significant delay between what you play and what you hear. I contacted support and they said this latency was unavoidable. There is no latency if you listen through the iPad speakers but then why would you purchase a beautiful grand piano sound to listen to it on iPad speakers? This is a useless program for me..Version: 1.1.12

Clean and ResponsiveComing from an iPad and it’s mobile. It’s had a nice tone. The fact that you can make minor adjustments is a big plus. Pricey but you pay for quality. UVI sounds always come through for me. Would have gotten five stars until I tried using my ModX as a controller. When I would touch midi in, it would crash. 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️.Version: 1.1.3

Working much better now.Since the iOS 12 update on my iPhone & iPad Pro things seem to be much better with the latest update. I can use the IAA version within AUM by Kymatica at 64 samples setting on my iPad & it seems to work pretty well now. Even on my iPhone 7 using the stand alone version it works without any audio glitches even with lots of notes being played and the sustain pedal being used. Well done to UVI for sorting things out, I’m even going to risk using it on a gig tonight! Cheers guys. Since writing the old review below I have been using 275 on my iPad Pro and it has been running really well until the recent update. Now I can’t change the latency from below 256 samples to its lowest setting when using it in stand alone mode, where as I used to be able to before! However when I use 275 as an AU within AUM by Kymatica I can get the latency down to 64 samples and it plays fine until eventually it crashes 275 and I just get a high pitched noise! This didn’t happen before the latest update. Also, after the recent update I had to uninstall 275 from my iPad and my iPhone (thus losing all my saved user settings) due to no sound coming from 275 on either devices! Although this is a fabulous piano app, it seems that there are still many gremlins holding this app back. I used it in a live performance recently before the update and it worked great, now it’s broken and unusable in a live situation! A real shame as 275 has such potential, but I’ll be using my trusty MacBook Pro and my Kurzweil PC3K8 live again from now on! Old review I am running the app on an iPhone 7 and the quality of the piano is excellent. However, there is an audible crackle that comes around periodically every few seconds. This seems to be effected by using the sustain pedal on a controller keyboard. Adjusting the latency does not seem help the matter. I have found that turning off the background app facility has helped slightly. Furthermore, as of today I tried using Ravenscroft 275 as an AU in GarageBand and it has eliminated the crackles completely. Although when using the Ravenscroft 275 in GarageBand there is no way of adjusting the latency? The developers need to address these problems as soon as possible as it effects this being used in a live situation, which is a shame as it is a lovely sounding and very playable piano app..Version: 1.1.0

Charged me twiceWhen reinstalling I got charged again even though I bought it years ago..Version: 1.1.12

Wonderful sound & outstanding value!!Love it!! This app is as advertised and is perfect for my needs. Couple of problems - very resource hungry and easily overloaded, with more than a few pops. Buffers do not affect this. And I suggest instead of virtual knobs, could perhaps the interface include an option for sliders?? The tiny knobs are impossible to adjust, especially on an iPhone. Do that, and you get 5 stars!.Version: 1.0.3

No iPhone X supportWaited months for this update, fixes a few bugs but still not updated for the iPhone x screen. Really? That's a poor show. Those menus are still so tiny they're very fiddly to use, too..Version: 1.0.4

Great sounding piano, bad customer service. It gets 3 stars cause it sounds great. I am running it on the most recent iPad Air 4th gen I think 🤷‍♀️ when I split the piano roll it cuts off 1/2 of the keys rendering this feature unusable. I notified the developer, had a back and forth, sent screeenshots let them know it was up to date and gave them all the pertinent info so they could fix this problem and about six months later....crickets. Still can’t even use the app as it was intended..Version: 1.1.7

Great soundCrashes a lot when used as AU plugin and often does not read sustain midi data.Version: 1.1.3

Amazing Piano, But Drains Your BatteryI absolutely love the piano sounds. You can’t beat the quality from an iOS app. But this app drains the battery even when you are not using it, because it seems to constantly run in the background. In the last 10 days, I’ve used the piano for 2 minutes onscreen. It has been running in the background for 214 hours, and accounts for 70% of my total battery usage! Please update this app so that it’s not running in the background destroying my iPad’s battery life..Version: 1.1.3

No Longer WorksWith latest update this piano no longer works with a midi keyboard. Prior to this it worked but gave audio glitches about every 30 seconds. I had high hopes for this piano but the product just does not deliver..Version: 1.0.5

Don’t waste you’re time with this appI wrote a nice 3 star review on this app a couple months ago and I stated that the major downside to this app is the extremely loud damper pedal sound that it makes when it is pressed down. It is very loud and really sounds bad when you’re playing softly in a concert room. I am now changing my review to a 1 Star review because this issue is still not being addressed even though other reviewers are also saying the same thing about the loud damper pedal sound. I basically wasted $35 on a app that I don’t use. I simply use the Korg Module Piano sounds even though I would rather use this app. My sound engineer hates this app because the damper pedal is so loud and there is nothing he can do about it. I know longer use this app when I gig just so my audience doesn’t get annoyed with the loud damper sound. Fix this massive problem and I’ll gladly change my review to a 5 Star review which is what this app really deserves once this issue is fixed..Version: 1.0.4

Awesome app but crackle soundThis app is awesome, or it would be perfect if I didn’t get a crackle sound after I record the piano, sometimes during. It won’t always be in the same place when I re listen to it, very frustrating, any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated?.Version: 1.1.3

UnusableLet me start out by saying that I’m really impressed with the quality of the samples and how expressive the app is. It really does sound amazing. However I paid $40 to have great samples for mobile recording. Unfortunately the samples really are unusable because of how loud the dampening pedal is. It really is unrealistic and it is incredibly distracting especially when playing softly, especially since the dampening pedal always reacts with the same velocity no matter how soft or hard you press. For a company that prides themselves in realism, I was really shocked and disappointed by this. Easily a 5 star app if you could control the volume of the dampening pedal. As it is, 2 stars since the piano sounds nice...I understand you can’t include all the functions of the desktop program, but at least make the $40 app usable. Please fix this!.Version: 1.0.3
