✓ Terrible! Lost a lot of money. Buyer beware.I have bid and successfully won several things on this App. Payments were processed. Nothing was EVER delivered. The delivery address that I manually entered In the app differs from the address that things got shipped to! Not knowing this I happily spent a boatload of money on cool auctions. I never received one item. It is heartbreaking.Version: 5.4.1
✓ Scammed by ShippingTerrific place to buy, as long as you make sure you only win one thing. Every single item won is shipped separately, and charged separately, regardless of size. I won literally 5 coins within 10 minutes, but they charged $35 EACH to ship. Yes, $175 shipping for 5 coins weighing 1/2 ounce each. Their excuse is everything is pre-packaged for fast shipping. Except, these are small 4x4 boxes, nothing is stopping them from putting the boxes in a bigger box. $50,000 spent here in the past, and they don't care. Also noticed recently almost everything is sold as individually as possible, when they used to have lots of groups, so brain-dead management must have made this part of their business strategy, since they also charge a fee per item. ✓ Buyer BewareThe app and website as a service work quite well, design is intuitive and easy to use. However as a customer it was less of a good experience. I will pass along to anyone who reads this that regardless of the terms EBTH uses in an item description such as vintage, old, or reference to dates (ex 1902) consider anything posted to be a reproduction or potentially modified. I encountered this scenario and upon further research found what appears to be the same items being resold every few months using this type of terminology. Odd as EBTH states these are individual and family collections so not sure how all inventory is truly sourced. After a number of emails with a customer associate the conclusion is regardless of the description unless EBTH declares it “original” you cannot get and they will not offer much resolution at least in my scenario. ✓ Bring back filters! Make it easy to shop.I don’t understand why they have eliminated filter options in the categories. If I want to look at Jewelry, I now have to wade through all items in the category. You used to be able to just look at earrings not slog through hundreds of rings to find earrings. Same for Fashion: if I just want to look at bags, I have to browse through clothing and shoes I’ll never buy. It’s become more of a hassle. I tried the desktop version too, but again, you can’t sort items. Come on guys, this is basic shopping. Help me by allowing me the option to sort listings!.Version: 5.4.8
✓ Was amazing but now...They changed to not sending alerts to your phone, saying it would now go to just your email, oddly that is a lie as that did not happen, and checking my setting on both my account and my email indicate I should have gotten notified. This was a perfectly well run app with the notifications in place that it had, now however it’s no longer useful. Sad I have to set separate reminders on my phone to track items I may want to bid on when the functionality already existed in this app which they decided to dumb down. ✓ Love the concept.And the app works great. Unfortunately shipping is overpriced, I’ve tried contacting EBTH but they said they don’t control shipping. I live in Hawaii and am familiar with paying for shipping cost, I just ordered a jacket and I’m being charged $60. $60 usually gets you express shipping but they’re shipping ups ground which will take about 10 days to get to California then two to three weeks to get to Hawai’i by boat. The item could fit in a USPS large flat rate box and get to me in 3-5 days. If customers are paying for shipping, especially at these rates we would like our purchase to arrive in a timely manner. Won’t be making any more purchases if I have to wait over a month..Version: 4.1.1
✓ Do NOT purchase jewelry from this companyHUGE SCAM. They say all of their jewelry has been certified. It has NOT. It took me less than 2 minutes with an appraiser with a simple gem pen to determine that what I purchased was fake. When I contacted them to notify them and ask for my money back, they denied. When I presented the appraisal paperwork, they denied. It’s so bad that I am considering a fraudulent lawsuit. Companies like this bank on you not taking it that far, because of what it will cost you to do so. Luckily I have a family member willing to do it pro bono. Users beware!!!! ✓ Inconsistent and marginalThe descriptions often show a lack of knowledge on the part of those writing the descriptions of what is being sold and the pictures often while pretty leave out important details and when picking up items, some are so heavily wrapped that determining if the item matches what was purchased is what one is getting and there are no condition problems requires extensive unwrapping. Also sometimes items are not there when you go to pick them up and the only compensation given was a refund..Version: 5.4.2

This is because you take duplicate pictures of the same stamps Without Noting they are the same picture of what you’ve already shown. E.g. am I seeing two different stamps that have the same design, or am I just seeing the same stamp photographed twice on “different screens”. How can I calculate value of the lot when it is unclear how many stamps are there? It would seem the simplest way to resolve this issue is to note in the picture if the image is a duplicate of a previous screen, or not include duplicate photo. Close-up photographs of the condition of the stamps is very helpful, but not when you do not list it is a duplicate photo..Version: 5.4.5
✓ Wish city search was easierLove this company, but I am having trouble understanding the "sort by city" function on the app. For example, I live in Dallas so I filtered by city to show sales in Dallas, TX. I found several items I wanted to follow and would quite likely eventually bid on. However, I noticed that some of the items shown said "Item Location: Blue Ash, OH." Luckily I didn't bid on some chairs I was following because the shipping was way over what I would have been willing to pay. ✓ Buyer BewareI had three great purchases with EBTH, but will not use it after my last two. Their images are heavily edited; I’ve had two rugs arrive that were drastically different looking than in their pictures. The written description of the conditions are intentionally vague. In my most recent purchase, EBTH went so far as to show two separate images of the leather binding on the back of the rug (one corner and one cropped bit along an edge) appearing to be in perfect condition; upon receipt it is actually coming completely undone on two corners and shows when flat on the floor. EBTH’s customer service failed to address their intentionally deceptive listing and told me that “the edge support tape is not integral to the rug and would be a very simple repair.” I will not be shopping with them again, personally or professionally. I would urge others to shop with caution, especially for rugs or anything fabric. *** In response to the developer, I have already spoken with your customer service department and was advised that there is nothing they can or will do. I, and I think everyone who is buying estate sale goods, understand that I am purchasing items that are used. The issue is not the use, it is the manner in which they are presented to be appear in much better condition than they actually are upon delivery. ✓ Fatal shipping glitch!Beware of Fatal Flaw: I was shocked to discover some of the items I won on the auction were delivered to the wrong address! I called EBTH and was told their shipping feature is “..very sensitive and will often default to the primary address for a customer... so it is best not to use the phone app to enter shipping. “ Now I have to scramble to find someone to watch for packages getting dropped on the front porch of my second home a thousand miles away from where I want them delivered. Crazy! I enjoyed using the app and thought the site is laid out attractively. I spent a lot of money on a wide variety of nice items over a short period if time. But shipping and handling are high and can’t be combined. Now I will discontinue using EBTH until this shipping glitch gets fixed and I obtain some satisfaction for the items shipped to the wrong address..Version: 3.8.0
✓ The app is ok but times out oftenThe app is ok, but many times it has kicked me out. My reason for the 1 Star is not about the app, it is about the shipping. The items are very well documented & photographed, and the bidding is fine... but don't expect to get your package anytime soon. I am recently new to this app, but I am probably not going to buy anything else. My first win took a while to arrive. I thought it was just a one time thing.. until I won some items 10 days ago and they still have not left the location. It took 8 days for them to get me a tracking number and the items still have not shipped. Very poor organization & shipping ridiculously slow. ✓ Good - Not GreatEBTH has a lot of great items for sale, and with far less exposure than EBAY, there are fewer bidders involved. I think this keeps bids much more reasonable and especially agreeable to lower budgets. However, there aren't actually any auctions in your area (unless you're from central Ohio), so you're going to pay OUTRAGEOUS shipping fees. I can't stress enough the word "OUTRAGEOUS" here. This is clearly the auction house's primary revenue source. Also, when your auction nears its end, don't assume you've won your item; EBTH will extend the bidding for 5 minutes, and then 5 more minutes, and 5 minutes more, in order to increase the money they'll make on additional last minute bids. I don't feel there's any integrity in that, but I suppose business is business. I still bid (not often anymore), but I bid with the knowledge that the "great" price I'm bidding at will increase substantially for a number of reasons..Version: 3.6.2
✓ Ughhhhh-UpdatedI’ve recently seen a slight uptick in larger size fashion, which is nice! Tech-1 star-Even with multiple updates, app crashes constantly. Products-2 stars-some really, REALLY nice things and the auction part is really well done BUT if you're looking at fashion PLEASE do not hold your breath while looking for anything larger than a medium in ladies. I'm not saying you won't ever find anything larger than a medium...BUT if you are actually holding your breath, you will die trying. Guess no ladies larger than a medium sell with them OR it's more likely that clothing items larger than a medium don't photograph well or don't sell well so they are not included in someone's auction. I’m also on the same page with the shipping complaints! They do use high quality shipping supplies but a jacket or shirt does not need $13 worth of packaging product..Version: 3.6.1
✓ Buyer be SUPER aware1) shipping prices are ridiculous 2) if you receive a broken item, due to their lack of care when packaging (even though you’ve already spent a ton for shipping costs) you’ll have to jump through hoops 3) after you’ve completed the hoops, they won’t care you have a broken item- but will give you back some or all of the shipping 4) you’re stuck with a broken item that NO ONE would have bid on. But you spent $$$ I can’t believe I kept this app for so long. Being a life long estate sale shopper (daughter of people who liked to hit up every garage sale), I thought this was interesting at first. Now seeing the amount I’ve racked up in shipping costs vs the lack of care from them when you get a broken item is infuriating. Only giving it 2 stars for the people who live within pick up distance. ✓ ThievesThey had a currency problem in the app, it shoes me items with my currency but when the time of buying it it was changing to dollars. I sent many emails and made many over seas phone calls to inform them about this technical problem and to stop my buying transactions. but they didn’t help in anyway , Instead they deducted the full amount from my credit card and never sent the items. just made me wait 20min in every phone call and waste time in useless emails trying to get my money back which I never did . ✓ Immediately crashes after downloadingI really want to change my rating for this app. I’ve seen my roommate using it on his iPhone and it works perfectly. he recommended it to me because he knows i’m doing a lot of rug and furniture shopping for our apartment. I just downloaded it onto my brand new iPhone X and it crashed immediately after downloading. Every time I try to open it it immediately crashes before it even loads the home screen. I haven’t even gotten into the app yet and I have uninstalled and reinstalled it three times. Extremely disappointed in this experience and hoping I can find a fix so that I can blow all my paychecks on this app like I originally intended to (hahahah). from what i’ve seen on my roommates phone it looks amazing!.Version: 4.2.2
✓ No Customer Support/Price gouge shipping/app malfunctionsAs others have mentioned, there is some serious price gouging going on with the shipping as well as arbitrary decisions on what can and cannot ship or be picked up. I bid on several items from the same auction. All of them should have been available for pickup from the warehouse. After auctions were over, most now said they had to be shipped, and all shipped separately. Except 1 that could be picked up. I opened a support ticket. No answer after 24 hours. I called and escalated it and was told I'd receive a call within 24 hours. No call or email two days later, and now that support ticket has been closed. ✓ Lost meI love the concept of this site but the shipping cost is outrageous. Can not combine shipping cost for similar items in the same estate auction because according to customer service the items are supposedly prepackaged individually - $75 to ship a $24 set of pictures via UPS 3 states away! It's like they're padding to ensure maximum profit. I'll be sticking to the website Chairish. Update: 11 days after I paid and my order hasn't shipped. For something I was told was prepackaged for shipping (thus combined shipping wasn't an option), 11 days to slap a label on a box is excessive. Customer Service gave me the run around. Plus there’s no way to delete your account? Even following the instructions they give you if you google it. ✓ Crashes forcing me back to web consoleHardware: iPhone 11 Pro Max Software: iOS 15.4.1 (and prior releases) I have had this issue for some time but only just now decided to make time to write this review. This app crashes frequently. I can browse the app for an indeterminate amount of time prior to triggering the bug without issues. My best determination of the trigger mechanism is adding too many items to the watchlist in the app. Once the crash or crash/reload condition occurs, nothing I have done in effort to troubleshoot will resolve the problem short of a delete/reinstall. Troubleshooting steps taken (in various combinations/orders): Restart hardware Reduce quantity of items in watchlist Clear watchlist Sign out of app and sign back in Delete/reinstall I’m simply tired of the, well, EFFORT involved in using this app with all of its features and feel I have no choice but to return to using the web console until this issue is resolved..Version: 5.4.5
✓ An absolute scamI have won 3 items on EBTH and haven’t had a single one turn out right. The first 2 were a matching set that were listed as Amethyst, evaluated by a GIA graduate gemologist. When I got them in I could tell they were not amethyst, I’m not a gemologist but I am a diamontologist working with gemstones everyday and could tell it wasn’t reflecting right. I took the set to my jewelers where they confirmed they were actually treated quartz, a big value difference! Months later I gave this app one more shot, I won a pendant and was charged an extra fee for it to be expedited- then I had to reach out a week later when it had not been expedited or even shipped, and then again two weeks later when the person assisting me never followed up as promised. They LOST my purchase and waited until I complained two times three weeks later to refund me. Allegedly they’ll let me know if they find it but I’m not holding my breath. ✓ Terrible!Absolutely terrible app. I just missed out on an item I wanted to bid on when the app informed me the sale was about to close and then kept throwing an error so I couldn’t even log in and see the item. Tried deleting the app and re-downloading it: then it threw a similar but different error. Also, the app updated me the item was going to close in eastern time-super misleading if I hadn’t read it carefully as I don’t live in eastern time! Not the first time this kind of glitch has happened and I’ve missed out on items. I will be deleting this app for good. ✓ Love The Concept & Items AvailableI have used EBTH several times and purchased many items from their site. The app is great: you can view, bid, and pay for items very easily. EBTH itself needs a bit of work in terms of representing the items a bit better. There have been a couple items I’ve purchased I.e. clothing that have arrived in a less than desirable condition than advertised. They did offer a credit to their store but nothing more. Also, read the fine print on shipping. Shipping is very inconsistent, slow, and EXPENSIVE. An example is that I’ve had multiple clothing items shipped and paid $16-$24. Normally at the price it would be expedited shipping. It took almost 3 weeks to receive on several different occasions. If you’re lucky enough to live near a warehouse, definitely use the pick up option..Version: 3.7.1
✓ Not worth the “deals”I’m a small business owner and I used to like this site to source vintage rugs and other old finds because their site is like a nicer, curated version of eBay. However, they are overcharging extremely for shipping. They will send you your items in the most ridiculous, over the top way just so they can charge you more money. How do I know? I ship out 80lb rugs all the time. They do not care about their customers or their employees, according to Glassdoor. ✓ I won a 14K pearl bracelet. Horrible shipping!My 14K gold pearl bracelet was an amazing price, if I ever receive it! I paid $15 for shipping, only to find out it’s being sent out via SMARTPOST. It’s been 10 days since it’s been in transit, and 2 days of it going in circles 20 minutes away from me… I thought I found my new favorite marketplace, but the shipping is HORRIBLE & not trustworthy nor is it fast. ✓ Stay away - horrible business practicesApp works fine and they have cool things. After 28 purchases and over $6000 spent with them in the last few years, they finally cheated me. I purchased a bracelet they measured at 7”, however when it arrive or was clearly not. I measured with a tailor’s tape measure for accuracy and didn’t even measure 6.75”. Tried to be civil and contacted customer service to return. They have a no return policy which I’ve had minor issues before but never actually sought a return. Since this was misrepresented I sent pictures of the measure. Almost a month later they just sent me an email that their gemologist measured it and they stand beside the 7” measurement. ✓ Item resellI attempted to bid on an item years back, and forgot about it. Fortunately I saved the item to my watch list. A few months back I saw a similar item decided to bid on it and won it. My heart was filled with joy. App automatically got funds without my authorization from my card. While I waited for the item to arrived I decided to go back on my watch list and compare the two items to see what was the best deal. Come to find out it was the exact same item with same serial number of authentication. When I received the item description was not accurate. I contacted EBTH. Just to be turned down and short $2200. ✓ Horrible customer serviceFYI don't expect to get any help from them. I was new to the app and purchased some things I thought would come from Louisville. Come to find out they could not be picked up and they would only allow them to be shipped. My $35 order was going to cost $200 to be shipped! I called and spoke with someone who said there was nothing they could do that each item had to ship individually. I tried asking if I could just pick them up and they said that was not an option on this order. I ended up having to "forfeit" my items which means still paying for them but not receiving them because I refused to pay $200 for shipping. Highly disappointed..Version: 3.6.1
✓ Buyer bewareI’m sure for sellers this is a great app. I was excited to use it but quickly lost interest when i realized that “auctions” are endlessly extended when bidding occurs in the last 5 minutes. Curiously, you never know whom you are bidding against but the bids keep rising just enough to keep you bidding more. It was pretty easy to see how the system could be gamed by bad actors and given the lack of transparency I would be very cautious that there is not a bot or some other nefarious process driving up prices. I might be more comfortable if there is more transparency similar to eBay..Version: 4.0.1
