Good idea, but very poor implementationI like the features and UX of the app, but it is awfully buggy. It crashes in about 30% of my recordings, speed stats not visible in half of them. It is very slow even on 14 Pro. Every time I try to add my partner to the game the search first loading spinner for minutes showing some other persons and only after shows my friend who’s I add every single train..Version: 11.5.2

Useless Customer ServiceGood luck if you need support!! I recently had an issue whereby the scoring was totally wrong! Contacted support and after being asked to send a screenshot of the problem I never heard from them ever again!!!.Version: 9.5.8

Stopped workingThis app stopped working. it just doesn’t open. can you please do something about it because i loved using the app.Version: 4.6

Nice idea but upload issues make unworkable at the momentGreat idea and some of the analysis is pretty cool, but if you can’t get your camera setup confidently and easily on a fence mount and can’t get videos uploaded after hours of trying then for me it makes the app unusable. The final straw was spending nearly a week trying to get a couple of hours of video uploaded to their cloud platform without success and despite help from the support team, that were keen to help, they were unable to resolve. I understand that not everyone has these problems, but a number do and until the upload of videos is sorted out, which is a pretty basic core function for this sort of app, then all the fancy AI stuff is irrelevant. Apparently it’s a known problem, but unresolved, and waiting for confidence that the team have resolved the upload issues so that after a game videos can be simply and effectively uploaded within a few minutes. Happy to try again when the team think the issues are resolved and waiting to hear back from the team as to when that might be … you may be lucky and your uploads work ok, as they do for a couple of pals, but however they also don’t for a few others … Feels like it’s worth persevering with as soon as they’ve fixed the core issues … but for now very frustrating and left with a fence mount that’s currently unusable ….Version: 10.3

Great app but my favourite feature removedI think this app is fantastic but for some reason, the practice tracker on the Apple Watch has vanished. I loved this, thought it was really good to easily track what I’m doing in court without having to set up and record via my phone. Shame this has gone otherwise I’d give 5 stars. Big downfall for me unfortunately.Version: 10.1.3

Version 10.2.1 is a downgradeThe current version is a downgrade. The app crashes frequently. Export fails. The point timings when you watch and when you export are not same. Export cuts the last shots in some points and has extra time is some points. Always recording in 1x zoom is not achievable in all courts. In certain courts 0.8x is required for coverage. Needs more of its doubles. This version is not worth the money..Version: 10.2.1

AverageI’ve had this app for about six months. In my experience, the app has not worked well at all. It won’t load my matches, it won’t process, nor will it download. I also have been unable to share my content with other users I recorded with. I’ve contacted support and just now I’m being referred to an engineer to look at diagnostics after about one-two weeks of trying to fix the issue with their email replies. I have not been able to use the app for months, I think the service or urgency should be greater at this point. I don’t expect perfection and I understand it’s AI, so the accuracy or data is not exact, but I expect it to work and I expect it to not be inoperable for months without a solution. It’s an okay app from an idea perspective and if you want statistics that may not necessarily be accurate, or useful in your game. For me it hasn’t been what I thought so hopefully it starts working better so I can update my review with more accurate user experience. So far this is a two star and not just because of it not working..Version: 11.0.1

Terrible business decision (30 day restriction)I love this app, and think it's fantastic. That being said, the most recent update (March 2023) that restricts all recordings older than 30 days to the pro version is absolutely terrible. The limitation of 2hrs per month is already incredibly restrictive, and means that you need to be strategic when choosing what to record if you're going to analyze your game. You can't really internalize a change to your game in less than 30 days so if you want to compare that's about the minimum you'd need to record yourself. Now that recordings are restricted on the free version, you have no way of comparing old footage, and only have 2 hrs to record. Makes the app completely worthless and impractical. Now users who have been using the free version are going to be extorted for $150/yr to see all historic recordings. Tennis is not a cheap sport, and this is further increasing the cost. TLDR; Phenomenal app, terrible business decision..Version: 10.0.7

Worst Support StaffI’ve been using this app since August 2023. In that time I’ve opened 3 support things for the same issue and I’ve been left no answers every time. On top of this they are coming out with a price increase while not even fixing or making sure their software and product actually performs well. There have been several sessions I’ve had where the ball is mid flight and it cuts off and goes to the next one. Or where it will mark it out or in and the ball when to the left and it marks the right side of the court. It’ll go deep right and it marks the left inside. I was excited and liked the idea of this app at first but honestly to me personally it’s all hype and no actual use for real games or even practices. That being said I mean specifically ball machine practice. It is literally the worst thing in the world for ball machine practice. The only thing I’ve truly found it useful for is serve practice and that’s about it. Everything else about it is lack luster and you’d have a better time just recording yourself normally and trying to improve that way than this “AI” feature..Version: 11.3

RubbishThis app does not work.Version: 2.2

Unreliable, breaks privacy and can’t delete. The numbers are completely wrong when compared to those in a smart court - almost random. The app also makes everything public, yes even videos including videos and audio that you try to make private - the option to make those private does not work (even clicking in the ”...” menu). Also can’t delete sessions - quite convenient for the developers to bump numbers and user sessions, tried all menus, they just don't work. Avoid - not worth it. (plus mostly patronising replies from developers instead of fixing their app). Very disappointed, again avoid....Version: 7.1.4

Great. But…Since the last update I can’t quit a video without force quitting the app. I start looking at a session and can’t find a way to go back to the menu.Version: 10.4.2

Disappointing. The idea is great, but the cut between points beta feature completely ruined the footage- playback is extremely laggy and keeps jumping between random bits. also, the price is ridiculous and just exacerbates the inaccessibility of tennis..Version: 10.4.2

Nice tennis app but need improvmentI use with an Iphone 13 and Iwatch SE. Nice quality video. Features are goods. It’s pratical to see some parts of video by the filters. You see only what you want. Cons : It's take some time to place correctly the iphone on the fence and recognize the field. Not sure of the speed of the ball and worse don’t think that the challenge call is 100 %, even 80 %. Use it for the fun and not for tournment..Version: 10.1.7

Lots of Features Don’t WorkLast tennis season this app worked great, but now the watch app no longer tracks your heart rate, kcals etc. It also just registered my exercise minutes in Apple Health, but didn’t put it in as a tennis workout..Version: 4.8.1

I love it but...The app asks me for my details (ability, age etc.) every time I open it. It won’t upload my hits to the app so can’t get my stats. Gonna use a different app.Version: 4.2.3

Would not recommendSadly the product stopped working with an iPhone and iPad and will not pair with each other. The technical support is awful just refering you to existing tutorials instead of answering the questions asked and attempting to resolve the specific problems raised. Complete waste of nearly £200 so would not recommend to anyone else.Version: 11.5

No more support for Apple Watch 3Used to work fine on 3-series, now the support is removed. Why?.Version: 10.1.3

Warning: Do not get locked in!As a long time paying user with over 200 sessions, my advice to anyone considering getting started with this app or subscribing is export EVERY session after recording and *expect* that eventually your data will be locked and inaccessible. I no longer can access any of my old data (including statistics— not just video) and support’s response was “ We have recently implemented a lock on sessions that are older than 30 days for accounts that are not yet Pro Subscribers. Apologies for the inconvenience. To unlock older sessions, you must upgrade your account to Pro.”. This basically means that your data is held captive unless you spend $$$. Do yourself a favor and avoid the entrapment!!.Version: 10.0.7

Accessing to mic even after deleting the appI have deleted the app but still shows access to mic in privacy settings.Version: 10.5.1

Great app, but takes ages to upload the videoI would give 5 stars and prob pay for subscription as it is an amazing app. BUT, and a big but; it has so far taken almost a week for a video of a friend and mine’s game, still at 99% to download from the cloud. Question: is it faster if you pay for the subscription and/ or is it because im downloading a friend’s video, i didn’t record this one??.Version: 9.1.3

Initial thoughtsSo, I’ve just downloaded the app today and here’s my initial thoughts on first usage whilst using a tripod with my iPhone. 1. Am I meant to use the app in Landscape or Portrait mode? I wasn’t prompted by the app. Landscape felt more natural to me because that’s how I’d view the footage afterwards for a full screen with overlay. Unfortunately the app doesn’t seem to rotate the controls to landscape so I assume it’s meant to be recorded in Portrait. 2. When you’re using an iPhone and trying to set the camera up and follow the instructions it makes sense to be using the front (selfie) camera rather than the back one. However, it seems that the app defaults to the back camera. You have to keep flipping the camera each time and I can’t see a way of setting a preference in the app. This ends up being frustrating as you need to flip it every time to start a recording. The other thing is when you align the lines with the court service line the camera quality isn’t as clear as when the recording has started. It’s as if the setup screen is using a lower quality and it’s hard to setup the alignment. Very weird. 3. When you force start the recording I want to force start. I don’t want to be prompted to wait for the iWatch app. 4. The interface on the phone and watchOS is a little busy. Honestly, I want to setup recording and just go. I think the UX needs a little work. Perhaps some basic / advanced switch. It just seems to busy to me. 5. This is based on the YouTube reviews. It’s suggested that the free version gives you X amounts of hits free per calendar month. However, there’s other things to consider on the free version: there’s pop ups to suggest to set the recording to 60fps. However, when you click on this you’re prompted that it’s only payable the payable version. 6. Privacy. I think the privacy by default should be to NOT show your recordings to the community. Especially if kids are being recorded etc. The default needs changing here! 7. Solo hit. Would be nice to see other options; like solo forehand practise and solo backhand practise. I mean, we can all drop a ball and hit it. What I do like from the little I’ve seen: 1. The AI to workout the shot type. E.g. flat/slice/top spin etc. how accurate this is on 60fps (payable) vs 30fps (free) I don’t know, but so far it’s been pretty consistent and correct. 2. If it works (TBC) the watchOS app is nice if it actually starts the recording for the phone and also starts and tracks my workout data. Other: I’d like to see some kind of tips / analysis when looking at playbacks. Perhaps this is on the payable version? These are my initial views based on just my first usage of the app, and I feel it’s going to take a few more hits and setup testing before I depart with my hard earned cash. All in all, it’s just a bit too busy in the UX for me and the fact that you buy a years subscription! I don’t think it’s worth it. How is one meant to trial the pro and see if they think it’s worth it!?!? That alone is VERY VERY VERY cheeky!!! Let’s see if my opinion changes. To be continued… Update1: used the watch app today. Initially it gave me the camera view of my phone which was nice (albeit I had to switch the camera around again (annoying) but then after starting the second recording a lot of garbage was displayed on the watchOS app, and to be honest when you’re in the middle of court time you don’t have time to stand there and read watch messages. Just need a start, stop, pause. Again, just too much to faff around with..Version: 9.2.8

Getting A Bit GlitchyReally enjoy this app but lately smart insights doesnt seem to work and also a few things seem laggy when using it..Version: 10.0.7

Doesn’t work for meI’m a keen tennis player, so I was really excited about the idea of this app. But set up is difficult, I haven’t been able to view or process a video of one set. It says it’s processing but nothing happens. Sharing with friends doesn’t seem to work either. Very disappointed.Version: 10.0.2

It was okay.1, line calling is not accurate 2, 10% error on not recognizing the line suiting match.Version: 10.1.1

BadmintonI wish there was an option for badminton. Works great for tennis though.Version: 9.7.10

It's great but..I like the app, but it still has a lot of mysterious bugs. And I mean mysterious because it does not tell you it's still uploading or you cannot share yet because... The file system is not there, so there is no way you can look at the raw video. Now I'm recording twice, doesn't make a lot of sense, one time on the iPad and above I have a phone recording the same. I have the pro version but not sure if I keep it. Kind of depends of their developments..Version: 9.8.2

A colossal mess since watchOS 5Swing used to be my go-to tennis workout tracker, but it's impossible for me to recommend it anymore in light of the veritable litany of bugs that have rendered the app almost unusable on watchOS 5. When the app finally manages to start a workout, glitches pervade the in-session experience: sometimes the Settings screen will persistently appear and make it impossible to view in-practice stats (or even stop the practice), workouts often fail to get saved to Apple Health, pressing the “Stop” but won’t actually stop the session…the list goes on. The Swing watchOS app has always lacked a little bit of polish around the edges, which is fine, but this degree of usability-hindering behavior often leads me to just use Apple’s Workout app and spare myself the headache. Were these issues to be ironed out, this would once again be among the best apps for an Apple Watch-owning tennis player available on the App Store..Version: 4.2

App would literally erase half of matches recordedYou can record a match and see it on the app (match stats, final score, point playback), but somehow during it uploading to cloud, it would erase half the match or more and would believe you’re in the middle of playing. Has happened for every match I’ve recorded scores for after the last update. (SCORES, not even video). 1/5, do NOT use this unless they immediately fix..Version: 10.0.6

Great app, but developers are getting greedyI’ve had this app since its early days pre-Covid. In the early years it was limited but I liked how it tracked shot speed, topspin RPM, serve speed etc. Accuracy also improved over the years which was great. I could measure my progress year on year in terms of the stats I mentioned. What ticked me off in the latest update is the developers putting stats older than 30 days behind a paywall without any prior notice. You can’t see much improvement or change within 30 days and they know that. Since I’ve never used the video, only the numbers, I don’t see why those should be paywalled when they use much less data than videos. Now they want $150/yr to access those stats which is a shame. At least give us the opportunity to have those stats emailed to us for our records. Or grandfather in early adopters for just those non-video stats. They definitely still have them on their servers cos all I need to do to access them is pony up the cash. Since I don’t use the video function, it makes absolutely no sense. I am disappointed in the developers cos now with this latest update it seems to be all about the money….Version: 10.0.7

Idea great, execution poorThis app is actually very nice. It’s really let down by poor performance and constant crashes. Slow to sync matches and just very poor stability. The users would benefit from some feedback when the app errors and I’m sure the developers works benefit from a user submitted crash report once in a while. Needs work!.Version: 9.5.8

Great feature, very helpful on improving the game. Though, the App is very unreliableThanks for the great App, packed with great features and drills. But the App is very unreliable, it has been crashing half of the times. Especially, I have bought an Apple Watch for this App alone. I would definitely start the paying for the top subscription when these reliability issues are resolved and no longer is a thing. Sorry, 3 stars for now..Version: 7.1.4

Has potentialAs a former player and now professional coach I was really excited at the potential it had. Backed by Roddick and Blake I was expecting more accuracy and more user friendly. It has issues tracking serves and the data gets mixed up on practice sets. It also wont let me dial the court in from the apple watch if youre playing a set. Its almost impossible to line up the line to the service line in the blaring sunlight without the apple watch. Not so much an issue at night. App has trouble with shadows. My thoughts are its really great but not worth paying that much monthly with all the glitches and the data not adding up and contradicting itself. This is an issue if youre coaching high level players not so much if youre a club player looking to have something cool to practice with. Will give it another shot for a month to see if they resolve these issues..Version: 8.1.1

Mixed experienceCredit to the team for building this! I think it currently has pros and cons, at least in my experience. Pros: The video clips are an excellent way to understand your game and just view particular areas e.g. the longer rallies, backhands etc. You learn a lot by watching yourself. Cons: Hard to set up perfectly, a lot depends on where the fencing is at your club for installing the tripod. I play at two clubs and in both places, the fence is too close to the base line to get the full court into view. As a result, the setup comes up as 'suboptimal' and therefore the stats are off (also means I can't see myself in any shots behind the near-camera baseline, which is a lot of tennis time). You also do need an Apple Watch to get the most out of the product (e.g. for ensuring tripod angle is right if you have the tripod up high and can't see the screen from the ground), so if you don't have one, it adds to the overall cost. Overall, it's an interesting product and I'm sure it will improve in the years ahead but I've found it better for video analysis than the stats currently..Version: 11.5.2

Needs a pause buttonOverall Swing is an amazing app. One feature I particularly adore is the ability for the app to analyze how you hit a ball (swing type, spin direction, speed, etc) and give you a nice interface to read off of after each hit. One suggestion though, and this will make me switch from the regular workout app: add a pause button. I don’t need the app tracking me and giving me false workout credit when I take breaks. Otherwise though, it’s an amazing app and I’d recommend it..Version: 4.4.1

Great app but buggy and slow with uploads for meLove the app but I often have sessions stuck in stasis with ‘ queued for upload’ messages - this is despite updating to the latest version and following the FAQs on ways to speed this up. I’m on a paid sub so would hope for better..Version: 9.7.10

Can’t process videoEvery time I try to process a video it get roughly 10% through them comes up with a notification saying the process failed due to memory issues, without fail, no matter how long the video I'm trying to process is. Is this a bug or due to my older model of phone? Why have the app available for older phones if they can’t run it? I was excited to use the app and everyone seems to love it but I’m right on the edge of giving up on it because it’s essentially just a recording app. Very frustrated because there is no mention of this error in any troubleshooting so and closing all other apps and restarting the process as suggested does nothing..Version: 10.0.6

Not working on Apple WatchSince the recent update, it isn't working on my Apple Watch?.Version: 2.1.1

Last patch broke the reviewSince the last patch I can’t review some matches, it shows 1/0 points.Version: 11.4.6

Full Manual Badly NeededI will be right up front, I am just getting started with app, but an actual manual would be very helpful. FAQ is pretty much a sales tool For instance, you have to allow app to access video, mic etc which makes sense, but should be part of app installation, not something you discover trying to use it in a practice. Sometimes it asks if you want to start recording from Apple Watch (yes), sometimes it just starts recording before you have even mounted on fence.. Why? It seems like a useful app, but setup, start/stop needs to be clear and bulletproof. Also, I would like a copy of raw match video saved in my photos. That appears not to happen, so can only access/share/ through their app. I assume that I have option of sharing my videos with the rest of SwingVision users or not. I do not want to have my match data out there in the cloud Hope I will get to where this is an easy useful tool.Version: 8.0

Scoring no longer visible on free versionI’ve been using this app for over three years and have used both the paid and free version and have been part of the developer testers. I stopped using the paid version due to the difficulty in uploading and scoring glitches and have quite happily used the free version to keep testing and offering feedback. Unfortunately the latest free version although still offering 60 minutes of recording a month no longer shows any of the scoring that you enter, when viewed in the match playback, and so watching back footage is practically redundant. I so loved using this app but feel the push for the paid version with so many bugs and the now increasing features that have been prominent in the free version for so long been taken away make me not want to use this anymore. Such a shame..Version: 11.4.2

Not great. I will not be renewing the yearly fee for this app.Read this review and demo the app thoroughly before buying. I wanted to love this app however it has problems and I feel you get suckered into buying a year because they know you would quit paying for it after a month. The problems: 1. AI shot placement and shot speed is not accurate with or without the Swing Mount (I have the swing mount too); 2. Never been able to get autoscoring to work even though I recorded all points from beginning to end of the match. It just gives me an error saying it failed to autoscore with no reason or remedy; 3. It had random bugs that should not exist for the amount of money they get for this app. With that being said, I have found it useful to watch replays and filter by swing type (which seems fairly accurate) but I don’t fully trust the stats because of the inaccurate AI shot placement and speed..Version: 10.2.2
