Airmail - Your Mail With You for Negative User Reviews

Terrible supportI emailed support with a problem and they initially responded quite quickly. I gave them all the information they requested and now they have gone silent. It must be 2 months now. I’ve emailed and asked for an update but I get nothing!.Version: 5.6

Feel scammedI purchase Airmail 1, then I purchase airmail 2. I get it for my iPhone and I Mac. Everything paid for. Now every time I open up my air Mail in my phone or Mac, it’s I always trying to sell me on monthly. Monthly for what?? It does nothing that warrants a monthly fee. It’s not like it scrubs spam or do anything different than air Mail 1 and 2, which I paid for. Now it’s almost not ever opening up because I always need to refresh tokens and re sink my phone and my iPad and all my Macs with all of my hot Mail accounts. This is seems to be every week. I’m guessing you do this on purpose to make people sign up for the monthly. You obviously won’t grandfather any one in and you apps really are a sub par time waster. I wish I could post screen caps of sync issues. Just got done putting in all of my email into the phone app for the zillionth time! After it un syncs I will definitely be deleted this garbage from my phone and all of my devices. Should have just stuck with Apples email. At least it always syncs and works. Sad.Version: 5.0.1

Naggy, buggy, bloatwareSummary: Constant nagging for subscription payment even after paying for the app makes it unusable, HTML composing OK, HTML email display is poor, basic non-HTML signature, lots of good functionality but it all feels like a car crash in terms of design. I got this primarily for HTML composing and for inbox triage. HTML composer is OK though limited (e.g. few colours). Sending an email with bold/italic/sized text results in it not displaying correctly in Airmail itself (though other apps display it correctly)! Signature is non-HTML (i.e. only bold/italic text, no images). General design is not as intuitive as Spark or Apple Mail — far too much functionality visible all over the place, e.g. long Actions menu, with separate buttons for Add Label and Remove Label. Inbox triage is limited as the Smart filter is very hit or miss, and there's no detection for newsletters, notifications or direct personal emails, like in Spark. There's also no flight, hotel, restaurant booking detection like in Google's Inbox app. There's also lots of features missing from the Mac app (e.g. no rules). Conclusion: this app will follow Newton onto the rubbish bin of history.Version: 5.0.5

Great App, but too many bugs and support is non-existentI really want to use this App, has great features and customizable to your needs, but they just make it so tough. I use the app on my iPad Pro, about a year ago the arrow shortcuts stopped working (you could assign left arrow, right arrow, etc. to do certain things like trash, move to spam, etc.). This was a huge feature for me as it allowed me to quickly go through inboxes. I have used the ‘live’ support a dozen times to resolve. You should first understand it is never live, no one ever responds immediately no matter time or day. Secondly, you get an email and most of the time it says a generic suggestion (update your software) and ‘support will look into this’. You never get an actual resolution to your problem, even after you send them requested screen shots, etc. If they are going to charge you ‘pro’ for live support, then they should actually provide live support. Very disappointing..Version: 5.3

Irritating handling of photo attachments on iPadThere’s a way to attach almost anything in Airmail, including iVloud and Dropbox browsing functions, and even previous attachments filtered by type. But the handling of the native Photos library is infuriating. First, it comes up in album view, but the album folder names are listed in no logical order, not alphabetic or by date, and if you have a lot of albums, finding where an image is can be very time consuming. On top of that, the common “Favorites” album is not listed (and again, if you have a lot of albums it might take several tries to realize that. But, unfortunately, there are no other ways to view your photo library, and no way to open the library itself and attach to a current draft. As much as I love Airmail, compared to how other clients, like Spark or Edison Mail for example, the photo attachment function is brain-dead. Add this to the fact that composing an email in portrait view on an iPad only shows text on the top half of the screen. After a few sentences, what you are writing is hidden below the keyboard and refuses to scroll. If they fixed these petty annoyances, I’d give Airmail a solid 5 starts, but given that there’s also no way to contact support or report a bug (they actually ask you to leave a review, so here we are…), have to give a lower rating than the program overall deserves, with its wealth of other professional features..Version: 5.7.5

So far, useless for me and deceptiveAll I want is an email client to use with my mail forwarder. The mail service I use (gmail, yahoo, etc, etc) should be hidden. Net, all messages sent come from the email address of my forwarding service - in other words from an alias. This app claims to support aliases and you can even fill in the email address of the forwarding server. When I compose the message, it even looks like it is going to be sent with the forwarding email address. However, when it arrives at the recipient, the reply ignores the alias and uses the actual address of the email provider. Also the 30 day free trial is actually 3 days but you can cancel your subscription if you cancel 3 days before the renewal!.Version: 5.3

Good when it works but buggyI've had constant problems since installing. Crashes, integration issues, copy/paste failures and complete iPad freezes. Support has helped a little but after promising to come back to me on an Omnifocus issue, haven't done so. On the upside it's got lots of integration, functionality and potential. Guys you need to iron out the bugs. I can't recommend the app until you get it sorted. I'm close to uninstalling and getting a refund..Version: 1.1

Subscription? How can they add a subscription to something I already paid full price for? Ridiculous, looking for another app..Version: 1.8.30

Good when it works!Really good functionality but totally unreliable. I have Airmail on 4 devices and it now only works on 1! Each time it ceased to work on a device, I went through Airmail support, who failed to rectify the problem, told me they would report it to the developers and I never heard more. I use many apps and this is the only one that I’ve come across where the support service fail to rectify problems and just give up! Extremely disappointing. Save your money and maybe more importantly, your time and frustration. UPDATE Developer left a message on this site to contact them for help to resolve the above issues however when contacted they then claimed to have no record of my past multiple reports of issues and expected me to start the process over (having been through this multiple times already), conveniently ignoring my request for a refund given their inability to satisfactorily resolve the fact that I am unable to use the app on four devices. What a joke! Steer clear of this app..Version: 1.8.13

FraudWe have purchased this app in 2016. The developers have now cut back the level of features (push notifications) and made these part of a subscription. Since we have paid for this service and now are not entitled to use it anymore, we regard this action fraudulent. Something we have paid for, we own!.Version: 1.8.28

Does the job, but ads to upgrade are obnoxiousI’ve been using AirMail for a few years now. I’m not a heavy email user - all I want is something that handles multiple accounts gracefully and is stable. The colour coded inbox that AirMail offers is an attractive solution to multiple account, allowing you to see at a glance where a message has been sent to. I found it so useful I also bought the desktop version. But recently the app has moved to a subscription model for premium features. I don’t use any premium features so I’m fine using the version for the plebs. But I’m constantly being nudged to upgrade. Every once in a while a full screen promo to upgrade takes over my whole screen and needs to be dismissed. It’s obnoxious and annoying that I can’t just dismiss this and then never see it again, and is slowly souring me on the app. Maybe that’s the point? Perhaps as a non-premium user I’m actually a drain on the dev’s resources and they want me to either upgrade or stop using the app entirely? It’s a shame because the design of the app has slowly been getting better (good riddance to the hairline thin icons). So if you’re a “pro” email user AirMail might for the bill if you’re happy to subscribe. If you just want a simple email experience, stick with the stock mail app or look at other alternatives that won’t nag you..Version: 2.0.10

No Support AvailablePaying customer with an ongoing issue, I’ve tried chat and email. Never get a reply. The App is great, the after support service is simply not there. AirMail please respond!.Version: 5.6.87

Good, but jankyThere are a lot of features here. So it’s too bad the basics are so wonky. Like viewing and reading email. The app jumps around in a message as you’re reading it. As I scroll down in a message, it keeps forcing me back up to the top. Also, when you move between apps on an iPad then return to this app, it will close the email you had been reading. Extremely frustrating to use in a basic sense, despite all the advanced features..Version: 4.1.16

Buggy and would no longer recommendI tried about eight of the top email clients and experience limitations with all of them for example either they weren't available for both iOS and macOS or they had a clunky interface or key features were only available in premium but then I tried and Mail and it's cross platform and rules you set up sync via iCloud and the free version has everything you need and the only thing you have to deal with is a regular pop-up about premium that takes one tap to close so I'm really pleased with it. Update: I can no longer recommend this app after using it for about 10 days because it has some terrible bugs in it. for example currently it saves an email that you compose and send in one go as a draft every time. it also shows all emails twice in Smart folders and as far as I can tell at one point sent someone a draft email that I prepared and deliberately saved to finish writing later. if you have multiple Gmail accounts I recommend using the Gmail app instead it's free and has all the same features and that way any filters you define available both through web browser and through the Gmail app..Version: 5.6.87

CrooksWow, paid for this app on all my devices. Buggy, but still loved it. Now they want me to pay for push notifications, which I try on as a freelancer. Lost a customer, for sure..Version: 5.6.82

UnreliableLove a lot of what Airmail claims to offer, paid for a year’s subscription I could not get refunded when the features didn’t work. Gmail accounts keep asking me to sign back in every other day (on laptop, the “sign in” screen appears and freezes blank), entire app on all devices is slow to refresh and follow commands, search function is genuinely awful. Themes look so different on iOS and OS there’s no sense of continuity and order. After a week I ended up taking a loss on the subscription and reverting to a different app and paying for that instead/as well..Version: 5.6.87

Forced users to subscriscriptionsUsed for a year and now forced to subscribe. Moving to another client..Version: 4.1.13

Good UI, terrible features and supportI have used Airmail on Mac for years, and now iPadOS. It’s astonishing that features remain broken for years, despite their “award winning customer service” and online online forums (mostly consisting of users repeatedly asking for the same features to be fixed) If you ever need to search you email, just don’t even bother with Airmail, it’s terrible. I really like the overall UI and function of Airmail, but I honestly keep an alternate email app available on my devices solely to search my inboxes & email accounts. Insane really. Support is non-existent - even with the paid subscription. It’s like a black hole of request. Despite all this, I continue to use Airmail with all it’s issues for business and personal use. Overall, it’s the best solution for my needs, despite needing an addition email client app to fill in simple things like “Search”..Version: 5.6.82

App doesn’t refresh mailReinstalled this after a brief fling with Readdle’s Spark email app. First attempt, the add account window just froze, so uninstalled, then persevered later with a reinstall and the add account allowed me to add my gmail account, but I couldn’t get the inbox to refresh, no matter how many times I pulled the inbox display down. Also tried sending stuff, but it just sits in the drafts folder. Have deleted the app and re installed again, but it won’t send or receive. Which of course, is a great shame as I have paid for the subscription, but as it stands at the moment, it’s unusable. Back to Spark or outlook I guess as Airmail has great functionality that beat its rivals, but never experienced these sort of issues when using it in the past. Hope they sort them soon.Version: 2.0.10

Pay To Receive Push Notifs?I just started using Airmail and, as part of that, received a free trial of the “Pro” subscription for three days. All was well during that time and I started to like the service. However, I noticed that I no longer was receiving push notifications for new emails in my Inbox. It took opening the app for me to see any new emails. I did the standard measures to ensure push notifications were enabled, even deleting/re-downloading the Airmail app and rebooting my iPhone. Nothing has worked. I find it strange that this all began once the free trial ended. I particularly noticed a setting called “Real Time Inbox Monitoring” was toggled off when it was on during the trial. I don’t know if this is the cause of no push notifications but it is interesting nonetheless. I’m also disappointed that Airmail support is virtually nonexistent, as the “Contact Support” links the user to a forum on Reddit as opposed to contacting support directly. After just one week of trying Airmail, I will be finding another email app to use..Version: 5.5.1

AirMail FailAirMail is unable to properly sync with @me.com iCloud accounts. My account is constantly going offline and stuck in the initialization stage. After spending hours troubleshooting, and multiple conversations with AirMail Chat Support, I give up on this app. Back to Apple Mail..Version: 4.1.13

Please let me remove the 'Feedback' itemStill a good mail app but the latest update has added a 'Feedback' item to the account list. Even if I go to edit and deselect it, it reappears when I restart the app. Please let me remove it permanently - I've already given feedback a couple of times. Thanks..Version: 5.6.82

Subscription?! After I paid!?After paying for the full application, both on Mac and iOS, (which wasn’t cheap!), they’ve now turned around and nagged me to subscribe to unlock things that were previously included. And the worst part is the constant nagging to subscribe. For all its uses, I’m about to switch to something more user friendly..Version: 1.8.30

Review update - I’ve cancelled my subscriptionAs much as I disliked the subscription model imposed on users, I decided to give it a try for a couple of years on the iPhone, iPad and Mac. While there was no single defect that drove me away, the increasing number of small defects that appeared over that period has driven me away. Examples are: Regularly forgetting account authentication details requiring them to be re-entered. The undo function not working consistently. Undoing the deletion of an email brings back the wrong email, or several wrong ones. When clicking on a link then returning to the app, the email position had "reset" to the top of the email. Rules work inconsistently. Searching doesn’t find all the emails matching the criteria. Formatting of received emails is often wrong. Emails do not conform to the size of the preview window. And many, many other small defects that, taken together, means the app is must too annoying to use, and demonstrates poor QA from a testing viewpoint..Version: 5.6.85

Message Faillures and slow supportWas hoping this could be a good alternative to Outlook or Apple mail but my message sending intermittently keep failing. There is no way to see why it is failing. If you click on notification it just disappears. Also searching is a lot less limited than with Outlook or Apple mail. There doesn’t seem to be advanced searching option like searching within date ranges or text inside message body etc. Not great if you rely on Calendars a lot..Version: 5.5.9

Moving away from the best?Airmail is now a subscription based app. Listen, I’m all about supporting developers, but as someone who has been using Airmail for my iOS devices and on the desktop for years, I’m truly disappointed in the move to a subscription service. I’m willing an able to pay for major upgrades as a way to support my favourite developers, but this is just ridiculous. Subscriptions are not fair to the average user nor are they fair for small business owners. A little warning would have been great. Hopefully I can update this review (again), proven that the move to a subscription model is a benefit to me as a long time user..Version: 1.8.25

Does not do as promised I want a refundI chose to go pro because it says can sort email by sender. It does not. False advertising. Please refund..Version: 5.6.85

Subscription? No Thanks.Airmail is a great app, reliable, aesthetically pleasing, and functionally complete. Which makes it all the more frustrating that it’s adopting a subscription payment model. Not every app works as a subscription and their are only so many subs any one person can pay... by all means charge more up front, add IAP for more features, or create a new version, but don’t charge me each month to use your app.. excuse me, I now need to spend my valuable time finding myself another email client..Version: 1.8.25

Dormant development, “just ok” app sums it upI've used AirMail for 5 years now on Mac and iPhone, of which the last few with the yearly subscription. I can see "regular" updates, but I have no idea what changed; certainly nothing significant, but also not the bugs (staying stuck in night mode on iPhone, quirky behavior with list on Mac, etc). It works well enough to be usable, there are some interesting features that got me to use it and kept me with it for years (vim keyboard bindings, send to Things 3, etc), but today is the end of the road. I'm cancelling my subscription (not sure what I paid that yearly "rent" for anyway) and moving to Outlook..Version: 5.2.4

Subscriptions have killed thisWas very happy with app until you went to the subscription model. Not a good move..Version: 1.8.25

Nice, but no flags! If you use flags in Apple Mail or Spark, like I do, you won’t be able to find them in Airmail. Here is what Airmail support had to say about flagged emails: "For now, we do not support flags in Airmail. You can see them in the starred folder. The starred folder in Airmail will show you only those messages which are starred in Airmail and not any other email client or webmail. You can see these (from outside Airmail) starred messages in Inbox but not in the starred folder.” I was thrilled to try Airmail after the 2017 Apple Design Award it received. I now regret having bought the apps on iOS and MacOS, so I’m leaving this review to warn others. Nice app, but deal breaker for me :(.Version: 1.6.4

Unscrupulous, reasonably functionalAnother victim of the paid for all the apps, now having to repay a subscription for features that were originally included. Client is ok, nice features like delay but gets slow some annoyances that never ever get fixed despite years of support threads-TERRIBLE support. I’m canning it and going back to stock apps..Version: 1.8.28

Money hungry...I started using email about six months ago and paid a lot for Desktop, iPad and iPhone subscriptions which were all SEPARATE. Now I’m being told that I need to pay more money for notifications which I’ve never had to pay for before. Needless to say I will be looking for a new mail system that won’t cost me a small fortune!.Version: 1.8.25

Not happyI paid full price for this app on my iPhone, iPad and iMac a couple years ago - I didn’t pay just one fee, I paid three separate fees! It was pretty expensive for just an email app. No real updates over time (not that I care too much) but now they have decided to update their business model to charge a stupid monthly fee for push notifications! I have never heard of any other app that charges you a monthly fee to get push notifications, let alone an app that you had to pay to download. I’m not happy about this. I don’t care what awards they have won, I don’t not recommend this app to anyone..Version: 1.8.25

Slow and UnresponsiveThis app has been around for years yet is still clunky on laptop. Works ok on iPhone. Disappointed it just doesn’t work and only made worse by ridiculous coding that hides scrollbar. If you need fast business email on a laptop this app is at the opposite end of the spectrum. Avoid at all costs..Version: 5.0.1

Money HungryThe app is okay, but garbage business practices. Monthly subscription in order to get push notifications; and the have the gut to write “airmail is now free” in the description 😂 Time for a new mail app.Version: 1.8.25

App freezes in draft modeI’ve been a long time paid user on both iOS and MacOS and I’ve liked the apps. However I’ve had an ongoing issue with a bug that renders the app unusable. When I choose to reply to a message, the reply draft window appears but without a keyboard for input, so it’s impossible to continue. Tapping the x at the top-left corner to close the draft window fails to yield the appropriate response; the draft window persists. Swiping up to close the app is effective, but when the app is reopened the draft reply window reappears again and continues to be unresponsive. This can go on and on. Very frustrating when seeking to reply to a message quickly, and completely unacceptable. Fix it or I’ll need to find another email app!.Version: 5.0.4

Great design but that’s itHad this app for a while (2yrs +) and continuously more disappointed. Email attachments don’t work, folders don’t updated by themselves, I get asked to update to Pro every time I open the app, longer email chains jump up and down and are impossible to manage from the phone. Great design but that’s about it.Version: 5.0.7

Given it many chancesSadly I'm going to have to cancel the Pro subscription as too many bugs and it doesn't work at all on the iPad. I contacted support but a week on and nothing - email is the app I need the most. Returning to Outlook. Although I loved some of the functionality, it's just too unreliable and too many people either get a blank reply when I send to them, or nothing. The integrations with Asana and Todoist are also too unreliable..Version: 5.2.4

Great for 2+ years then Fatal composer error occursApp is great usually, but in the last few days I’ve had 10+ emails disappear due to a ‘fatal composer error’ while writing. No explanation. Just deletes everything and you’re back to square one with no draft saved. Considering the app is for emails and i cant write E-Mails, I’d say that’s pretty critical. 1-star until resolved unfortunately..Version: 5.6.7

RubbishHow is this app even still around? Horrible way to treat long time customers. Switched everything over to Spark immediately. Removing functionality that I had already paid for and trying to make consumers pay again via subscription is beyond shady. Anyone wanting a good email app, use Spark. Way better functionality..Version: 5.0.4

Maybe eye candy but utterly unreliableShould sync emails between all Apple devices.…It doesn’t You’d think it would send emails consistently….It doesn’t. Why do I have to perpetually re-enable sync to iCloud? All my Apple devices drop the enable iCloud sync. Having been an Airmail user from the start I am throwing the towel in. The last straw was an email response for a very important consultancy job that was stated as sent but remained in drafts and I missed out. Why should you pay for an app that is bloated and unreliable. Bloop…you’ve blown it..Version: 5.6.82

Still lot to doI have this app on mac and it works fine. Unfortunately on ios is not even close on os system. Lot of spam go through the inbox folder, even if you block the sender or mark as spam you still receive loads of junk email. I hope they will work on this otherwise i will change again for another one..Version: 4.1.13

A bit sluggish and privacy concernsApp is slow to load emails on iPhone 6s - should be instant like Apple Mail app. Also I have privacy concerns, they store your email credentials on their server to enable push notifications.Version: 1.0

Mediocre mail appUsed this app for a while because it was unintrusive and just worked. Exchange account does not work anymore because that’s apparently a premium benefit after the latest update. I had already paid for the year but the app won’t respect restoring previous purchases since it’s a new version. Switching back to Outlook since it has better functionality and at least Microsoft warns me when it’s about to engage in shady practices rather than just cutting off my account and asking for more money. This app is mediocre at best and the devs want to charge a premium price and will cut off certain email accounts whenever they want in order to up the price..Version: 5.5

Extremely buggy - Useless and Arrogant SupportI had high hopes for this app but it fails with flying colours at the most basic functionality. Notifications don't work properly at all!! If you receive an email and check it from another app; the new email badge doesn't refresh in Airmail. So you're always thinking you still have a new message when you actually don't. Whenever you send a message from Airmail, it creates an unread message in Apple Mail which is extremely annoying and wrong. No other email app exhibits this buggy behaviour. These are only two examples of the ample amount of bugs plaguing Airmail. Trying to communicate with customer support is a nightmare and the attitude is careless, incompetent, and arrogant. The customer support rep even told me to request a refund from Apple because he couldn't be bothered. Stay away from this buggy app. It may have tons of features but it also comes with tons of problems. The developer should take a cue from others and do some serious quality control before releasing their rubbish. I highly recommend both Spark and Outlook. Both work flawlessly..Version: 1.1

Annoying notificationsI was initially impressed with this app, enough to buy a subscription for a year but recently I have been getting large batches of notifications popping up for old emails (just had 80 of them). It’s really annoying!.Version: 5.6.82

Please FIX THE SYNC WITH EMAIL, gmail updates WAY TOO SLOWI wrote the below response a year or so back, the integrations with other apps, search feature, snooze feature , sync with the other devices - these were all great features BUT have not been updated by the developer over multiple Apple OS updates - Please FIX THE SYNC WITH EMAIL, gmail updates WAY TOO SLOW! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE UPDATE YOUR PRODUCT so that it will work great again!!! (The Airmail app is a great app. I did use it on both my iPhone, iPad and my Mac. It does a great job of connecting other apps to email and makes email communication a breeze. Please keep up the great work!).Version: 5.6.82

Utterly shameful bait and switchI’ve used Airmail for a few years now on my Macs and iOS devices. I was generally pleased with its features despite ongoing buggy behavior, particularly badge notifications not working. But the bait and switch to a subscription model is infuriating. Now, in apps I have PAID for, I routinely get popups nagging me to do a subscription for themes. $3 a month for themes? Oh sure, there are other features, but themes are what they scream loudest about. That’s insane. I’m not interested in stupid flipping themes nor the other features. I just want the apps that I PAID for to stop nagging me! Of course that won’t happen. The developer got their coin from me and now it’s the middle finger if I don’t pony up every month. Shameful..Version: 4.1.13

Love/hateI love/hate the app. Love that its good option to Outlook and Mail. What i hate about it is that its unyielding. For example the reply button has to sourced from a list. The signatures work, sometimes. There is no way to link it to Google calendar. And few more glitches. Hopefully, they will be corrected soon..Version: 5.5.11

Forced to pay moreI was a long time user and lover of this app (on both iOS and MacOS), the way it handled my mail and the many awesome features made it worth using and pay for over other free alternatives. However, since the update some of the basic most useful features have been shut out from us long time paying users and we are being asked to pay a subscription to unlock them again. I understand that a one-time payment method is sustainable and subscriptions are better for business. However, I would suggest you should have let the past paying users keep the features they paid for and allow the subscription service to be for new features if they wish to unlock them at maybe a discounted price. And any new customers would pay for features old and new you deemed appropriate..Version: 1.9.1

Fairly good in general, but definitely needs some polishEvery time I open the app, it asks me if I want to enable notifications. I say no, and dismiss the prompt and the next time I open Airmail it asks again. That’s ridiculous!.Version: 5.5.4

Poor supportThe app is nice and may work for a while, but don't count on support helping you after the initial "reset your email cache" because that's supposed to solve everything. Not the case. Stick with Mail or any other app because when something goes wrong - and it always does (I came back to this app for the third or fourth time expecting issues to be sorted) - they won't help you because they already have your subscription money..Version: 5.2.3

Subscription without notice?I have been using Airmail for years. Paid for it several times over on iPhone, iPad, personal Mac and work Mac. Wake up this morning to no emails and think that’s strange... Only to find out there was an update last night that made this a subscription service which caused me to miss important messages because no push notifications. Incredibly poor service and a disappointment to loyal customers. The proper, respectful thing to do, would have been to grandfather existing users who previously paid full price for the App. Deleting the App from all my devices and will not recommend ever again..Version: 1.8.25

Really gone off a cliffLoved this app. Used it for years… for the past few months it’s just been an absolute mess. It no longer works properly. Frequently freezing. Doesn’t load messages. I’m about ready to dump it for good. Very sad. Like I said, loved it, but I’m at my wits end with my email not working on a regular basis..Version: 5.2.3

Really Nice.. BUTI’m just currently trying this one out but sadly it disappoints me right away, there is a “get airmail pro” floating banner at the bottom of the mail. At first it’s ok but as I navigate to settings the upgrade to airmail pro is intrusive, I don’t like that it keeps bothering you to upgrade to pro, paying monthly or yearly, some people may argue that it is worth it especially yearly, why can we just have a normal free email app for day to day use and to those who wanted to upgrade to pro to use more of the features, they can do so by going to settings then hit upgrade, not like getting into a random “hey upgrade to pro” surprise pop up..Version: 5.5.10

Great program, horrific marketingI purchased airmail at version 2 for all of my devices. As others have said, airmail decided to go subscription based. Great for them, and I won’t rag on them for that decision. Price was way out of line at first, but now a decent value at $10 per year. My issues are 1. The forced upgrade to the new pay version with zero notice. 2. The upgrade nag screen every time I open the program. The time to correct #1 has long since passed, but #2 is easily fixable for prior purchasers of the program. I am happy to pay for the subscription, but not until they get rid of the nag screen for customers who paid for the software. There are plenty of other email clients out there. While airmail is arguably one of the best, I refuse to give money to a company as deceptive and tone deaf to their previous customers needs..Version: 4.1.13

Decent App, but Fatal FlawThis is generally one of the better IOS mail apps, but it has an inexplicable Flaw that makes it unusable in my work flow. When you delete an open email, the settings give you two options: go back to the mailbox, or proceed to the previous email. There is no option to proceed to the "next" email. This makes zero sense. If I am browsing emails, I don't want to go back to the last one...I want to see the NEXT one. This has been brought up to the developer by many users over the years, but the developer seems to have no interest in improving its product or listening to users..Version: 5.6.82

Loss of functionality with latest updateI’ve been a happy user of Airmail for a few years now. I’m probably not using it to it’s full potential but I use it to keep some separation between my personal email (that lives in Mail) and some organisations I’m involved with. The latest updates has now paywalled push notifications behind a subscription service. And the 4 months grace period only applies from the original purchase date - in other words, long time users of the app are given the middle finger. Don’t get me wrong, the app itself is great for handling email, particularly if you use more of the advanced features built into it; under normal circumstances this would be 4-5 stars easily. But I fundamentally disagree removing functionality the app previously had and then trying to sell it back via a monthly subscription..Version: 1.8.25

Fix the ALL Inboxes to show more than 50 emails...Why won’t you fix this issue??? It’s still like this in your latest beta too. This issue is infuriating at times, especially when needing to search for something. The main ALL inbox only shows the last 50 emails from any one account, so if you have two accounts, you will see a maximum of 100 emails. This drives me crazy when doing a search for something and not finding anything, only to realize I have to drill into each individual account’s inbox and search each one of them INDIVIDUALLY in order to search for something. It just should not be like this. Please change/fix this so ALL emails from EVERY account are visible in the ALL inbox. I don’t think I’ve tried any other email program with this type limitation..Version: 4.1.16

Riddled with bugsI have had airmail pro for over a year now on iPhone and Macbook and there has not been a week without an issue. An email in my inbox sometimes simply doesn’t open, at other times the search doesn’t work at all, the filters only work for desktop and not mobile app (how is that useful in this world where everyone checks email on their phones??). I tried to deal with the occassionsl bug but the latest update has made it simply not usable at all. I’m switching to a different email client..Version: 4.1.16

ALREADY PAID, SHOUD NOT BE PAYING MORE TO USE AIRMAIL[Update] Reading around on the Internet, it seems that this really comes down to if push notifications are considered as part of app's 'primary functionality' or a ‘side service’ as the developer claims. If the former, then it appears that this is in violation of Apple's App Store Review Guidelines. I strongly feel that push notification are considered as part of app's primary functionality because without them, this app is useless - what do others think? —————— Luckily, I saw the update description before updating Airmail. I think there are few issues here. 1) It is absolutely unethical for Airmail to do this; why do paid users have to pay more to get what they have already paid for!!?? 2) As a paid users, we should have the option not to upgrade (essentially, throwing away our paid version of Airmail if you “upgrade”) 3) Apple needs to add a feature in the iOS App Store to allow users to stay on a particular version of an app by locking, hiding, or by any other means. But the bottom line, the Airmail developer has made the wrong decision. I know when Navigon decided to start charging for map updates, the users just exploded with negative reviews and this made the company alter its decision ; so hopefully with enough unsatisfied voices, we could hope to see the same from the developer..Version: 5.0.8

Find another app if you don't want to payRecently seem to have introduced a constant annoying pop up trying to force you to go Pro. I don't mind an occasional pop up telling me about features that might be worth upgrading for but popping up the same message every hour or so is bad marketing and I would recommend using another app unless you want to pay the Pro subscription.Version: 4.1.13

Too many annoying bugs[UPDATE] I finally decided to leave this app for the iOS Gmail app. I waited for Airmail to address those fundamental annoyances but it never came. Using the Gmail app feels much more peaceful. === The only reason I still use this app is the app icon badge shows the email count in the inbox read or unread. Otherwise I wouldn't keep it. Too many annoying bugs. Emails in a thread jumble. Their received dates get messed up once a thread is snoozed and comes back to the inbox. Some HTML mails don't get formatted correctly. Composer quits randomly. When it happens a number of times, it leaves a draft in the draft box each time and there will be too many drafts to delete, once the email is sent. And then, it bugs me to subscribe almost every time I open the app. No, I won't subscribe until those bugs are fixed..Version: 5.6.82

Devs can’t fix bugs or support customersHas the potential to be the best app. Fails miserably because of tragically incompetent coding. Bugs, bugs, bugs: - Search fails to find obvious hits - Send Later fails silently with aliases - Switching folders takes ages And so on. As a bonus, support is completely unhelpful and the devs ban from their Discord people who have the nerve to report problems..Version: 5.6.86

Don't bother.App has bugs. Cache issue and random badge showing 6000+ new emails more than there are. App support have been silent on this for over 2 weeks. Not good enough..Version: 5.5

Quality dropI’ve been a long time user of AirMail, probably when it first was released! I use both the macOS and the iOS version, and both suffer from quality issues. I have enjoyed using it but now it’s become bug ridden and frustrates me every day! Now, when I go to delete emails, they just reappear, the app constantly freezes, or takes quite a while before I see any mail, and doing simple things like a replying has become a chore with so-called quick reply. I’m really disappointed that the app has become less friendly and enjoyable to use!.Version: 5.6.7

Used to be the bestAfter purchasing and using for years, a subscription model was introduced, and it went down hill from there..Version: 4.0.4

Notifications are buggyApp is pretty nice but marked down due to the very unreliable mail count marker on the app button. It will regularly say there are unread mail items but when you open up the app there is nothing new..Version: 1.7.4

Paid app that suddenly imposes subscription fees for full functionality.Dear Airmail Developer, I am contacting you here because there doesn’t seem to be a way to message you via your homepage. I’ve been using Airmail for several years, having paid for the Mac and iOS versions. I appreciate that you have now graduated to a subscription platform, but I am pleading with you to respect your existing customers and drop the aggressive and infuriating subscription pop ups on your iOS app. You’ve made it so easy to ‘accidentally’ subscribe when attempting to read or delete an email. You’ve also made it impossible to quickly ‘star’ a message or mark it as unread. I have to be honest and tell you that I find this extremely crass. I run an online business and from my experience, this kind of hard-sell activity actually LOSES customers, especially when they’ve already paid for a previous version of a product. Thank you for considering my thoughts on this..Version: 5.6.82

Charged for a full yearI reported this to Apple in the hopes they remove these scammers from the Apple Store All I wanted was to try the pro sub before committing, the site clearly states there is a free trial with the monthly sub, so in the app, I clicked “try pro” without realizing they conveniently do not give people the option of the monthly sub with free trial within the app, by the time I realized this (literally 2 seconds later) I canceled the subscription, but it said I had one year to use airmail pro, it was already too late, Apple already tried to charge my card on file. This is extremely wrong and deceiving, I was planning on getting a yearly subscription if I liked the app, but I needed to try it first, which I was never given the option too. If you offer different sub planas ex monthly / yearly but only one comes with the free trial, you have to offer both options in the app for people to choose, otherwise you’re just trying to scam the people who accidentally click on “try pro” like myself thinking they were going to try the monthly sub with the free trial.Version: 5.6.87

Squeezing customers for more moneyAlready paid for a lot of features and now a monthly subscription is needed for using them . WTH . Isn’t this cheating the customers that helped grow this company and already paid once for the features . Shameful on your business strategy that doesn’t respect any of it’s customers . #UPDATE : Increasing price every 6 months . Now i have to pay more and more and buying the app long time ago doesn’t count . What a waste . Switching to Spark ..Version: 5.3

Not worth the monthly fees. The app itself is okay, but based on their business model of monthly fees, there are better options out there..Version: 2.7.0

Could be great, buggy Exchange integrationThe app is well designed and has a lot of promise. Unfortunately I've experienced serious issues with Exchange and Office365 accounts I use for work both on the iOS and OS X versions of the app: snoozes change the date in the conversation history, messages in conversations are presented in the wrong chronological order and sometimes lost entirely, searches often miss messages, signatures on saved drafts disappear. These are a few examples among other issues which make the app not suitable for me. I've contacted support many times and they've always been kind and supportive, but bugs have yet to be addressed. Until the quality assurance process for both the iOS and OS X apps improve sufficiently, the app is in my opinion definitely not worth buying. What a pity..Version: 1.5.3

Pro, what exactly?I had been with Airmail free for a few years, until I started getting annoying pop ups about Airmail Pro this year. One day, I was so frustrated that I did it, and paid for ‘Pro’, and you know what? Same annoying pop ups, no pro. I swear this app has just turned into a costly spammer. No longer worth it. Wish I was still Airmailing for free. Will NOT be renewing my yearly sub :/.Version: 5.2.4

Stupid developerI bought this app full price for my mac and iphone, and suddently they changed to subscribe without letting me to choose, and this app is keep asking me to subscribe for push notice when I open it. STAY AWAY from this developer and this app. Switched to another app now. YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY APP PROVIDING MAIL SERVICE!.Version: 1.8.28

Crashes constantly. There's nothing more frustrating than writing an email and then having the app crash while you are writing it, only to open the app again and have nothing you had written saved. Every four out of five emails I've attempted to write in this app this has happened. I have now gotten into the practice of writing emails in notes first and copy pasting them into airmail.... only to realise why? Why am I even using this app? Have gone back to the standard Mail app, can't remember why I thought to use this email app at all - possibly there was a feature that didn't exist in Apple Mail at the time I originally switched. But now I can't see any reason to use airmail. Good riddance..Version: 1.6.9

ConsThese guys keep triggering pop ups that ask you to upgrade to paid plans. There’s no way to say no and shut them off. These guys annoy you till you pay them. Save yourself the time and use a different email client..Version: 4.1.16

So close to perfect! There are just two features I wish they would provide: 1. Dark background in the email reader. It's 2024... for the love of God, why doesn't this app provide a way for us to read emails without being blinded by that white glare?! I've paid for the pro version of Airmail, and even that doesn't provide a dark background! Pretty pathetic, really. 2. The ability to "click away" from the currently open email in order to close it. As mentioned above, even when the app is in Dark Mode, every email you open up has a blinding white background that is almost painful to look at, and there's no way to simply close that email from the viewer panel, but still remain on the email list screen. You have to click on another folder, like Trash, for example, and then click back on the Inbox to make it disappear. I just wish they'd provide away to do this to prevent that stark white background from always being on the screen..Version: 5.6.87

“May need App-specific password” error messageTrying to add iCloud account. Constantly getting “may require app-specific password” error message. Why? Who knows. I’m auto-filling my details from my iCloud passwords, and I’ve checked that these are correct, so why would I receive this unhelpful, obtuse message? It’s ok....I only spent $7.50 on this app because it looked good. Still waiting for the helpbot to reply to my query. Fail..Version: 1.8.8

Want my $$$ back ASAPWill not push notifications. Waste of money!.Version: 4.1.16

Worse and worse - now with removed featuresI paid full price for both the Mac and iOS apps, and now the developer has decided to go the subscription model route. Hiding previously paid for features behind an additional subscription cost. At a time when the app has been getting buggier... Horrible way to treat loyal users and a decent sign to avoid at all costs. I’ll be going elsewhere..Version: 1.8.25

AvoidI paid for this on my Mac, iPad and iPhone, and it was pretty decent but then the developers decided to get greedy, they decide to bring in a subscription model and loyal users like myself who actually paid and supported them? Well we don’t count. Well loyalty is a two way street so I uninstalled it , moved to using Outlook and discovered that I far prefer it. Move along to a developer who appreciates and supports loyal users. Nothing stings as much as betrayal..Version: 5.6.86

Update Causing IssuesThe recent update had broken settings! This feedback button keep appearing in the folders list no matter how many times I click to hide it my settings so here is some feedback… stop changing my settings!!!.Version: 5.6.82

App is going down hillI have been using Airmail on my iPhone and Mac. And instead of fix known issues like wrong notifications alert they add monthly fees to people who bought it long ago. Time to switch to Spark!.Version: 1.8.25

$3.99 per Month?!...for push notifications? Goodbye. Moving to Spark..Version: 1.8.25

An inspiring messAs an email power user, this app inspires me. It has all the functionality I could want, and nothing I don’t want. Fully (and I mean fully) customizable actions in just about every aspect of the app. Visual and UI customizations, and it’s all modular. Super easy filters, simple app integrations, and no half-baked calendar functionality. But it is simply executed poorly. The UI is somehow consistently bulky, with wasted space and inconsistent design language. Moving between UI states is almost always clunky and jittery. Certain features easily corrupt the state of the UI and result in weird artifacts. I want this exact app but with a much more consistent UX. For now I’ll be going back to Edison..Version: 5.2.4

Scammy and lack of support. If you’re interested in this app you should know two things: 1. Airmail charges for family sharing in their pro subscription but doesn’t officially support the feature so you feel ripped off. 2. Their support is MIA so if you have a problem, like the one I have, you won’t get very far..Version: 5.2.3

Two bad experiences …I first tried this app a couple of years ago and it was really slow. I’ve just given it another try and made the mistake of subscribing for a year. The user experience is phenomenally bad. I have multiple accounts and want a simple solution for accessing and responding to emails on the go. Every time I open the app I get a Microsoft login pop up and once I cancel, the app is unresponsive - across my iPad and iPhone. I can’t even delete an account. Just a bad experience..Version: 5.5

Devs never use the apps they makeUPDATE: Do you devs use your own software?!? I've got a folder with 50 items I need to attach. After being asked the dumb question of where I want to upload from, I'm allowed to choose that folder. Yes, I can select all. Guess what that does. Jack all. "Done" and "Deselect" do exactly the same thing. So I'm forced to attach all individually 1 by 1, being asked that 1st stupid question every single time. ____ I've got a great idea for an email app. It lets you read an email, then when you switch over to your calendar or whatever for a second to verify information you're about to send then switch back to it, it loses that message completely such that if you're a power user and use keystrokes to reply, you don't realize you're not responding to the original message. Oh, and even better, if you copy/pasta an email link YOU CAN'T EDIT IT. That would be brilliant. Don't forget to make it ugly, impossible to navigate, unable to customize shortcuts (you know, the simple ones like "Forward"), and incapable of formatting signatures correctly. UPDATE 2: I hate this app every single time I use it. What does <return> do? It sure doesn't open the email you want to look at (only so I could star it since that function isn't readily available where it should be). It DELETES IT. Are you people even paying attention?!?.Version: 5.7.5

The glitches are too frequentI am desperately looking for a better product and after reading some reviews I thought Airmail might be it. I like the user interface I love how it works until it glitches. Here is the glitch I experienced, in the middle of writing an email it suddenly disappears. within the first 24 hours it happened three times. I reached out for support and they asked me to videotape my work to catch this happening and then send them that. I read reviews were other people reported similar kinds of problems, those reviews are honest. The product does have issues and instead of the company investing time to fix it they askTheir customers to do that work. The search continues for a better email system on Mac. Air mail is not it, it needs to be a glitch free or at least let me get through the first 24 hours without a repeat of the same problem and the air mail people acting like the problem doesn’t exist.Version: 5.6

Been using for years, switchingI’ve been an active user for years, it had a lot of features I wanted. But they haven’t updated it in a very long time and it just doesn’t compete with newer platforms. It’s 2023 how does Airmail not have autocorrect on the desktop app??? I contacted support for it, never heard back. Airmail was good in 2018, but they aren’t updating or improving. Wouldn’t be great for the future..Version: 5.6.82

FrustratingIt started off good, but over time it became unreliable. Pros: very nice UI & customisation! Cons: I can’t send/reply to emails, the app freezes every single time. Constant pop-up offers to sign up for Pro, when I am already subscribed..Version: 5.2.4

Used be greatNotification sounds stopped a few days ago. Badges are ok. Banners work. Just no sounds. Checked all the settings. Everything appears to be set correctly. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app. No change. Contacted in-app support about 5 hours ago. No response. Emailed support. No response. Went to their website and sent a support request. Site says it’s been read. No response. Uninstalled and cancelled my subscription..Version: 5.5

BrokenSince contacting the people who developed this app is “computer says no!”, then this is my only voice of discontent. Nothing works properly. App says 3 emails, but I only have 2. Sometimes app can’t use push notifications, I then have to manually download. Deleting messages is a joke. They come back after you think they are deleted. Sometimes deleted mail does not even show up in the bin folder. Deletion of mails quite often will not work. Touching delete icon does nothing. I have to go out the app a couple of times for this to work. In short, this app has become a troublesome pile of junk that is not up to quality, let alone fit for purpose. I used to be a big fan of this, but now I would say it’s the worse app ever on the App Store. I would award this application with the most useless functionality. Developers must know this as contacting them is impossible because they hide and don’t want to hear your complaints. Instead they want to take your money. To sum up this application is as much use as a fish with a bicycle. Unfortunately I have a few months left on the subscription. There are now better email clients, that work flawlessly..Version: 5.6.85

Airmail premium?I’ve been a very happy user of Airmail for a long time and have loved this app and its features. But imagine my surprise when I open it today to discover that I will now have to pay a monthly fee to be able to use the app (and yes I know that I can still use it without premium, but honestly what good is an email app without push notifications?) I can understand wanting to change to a different business model, but I paid good money for this app and I feel like I have been completely thrown under the bus. If you need to introduce a new paid plan to make money then go for it, but let the users who have paid for the app already keep using it. Or at the very least don’t put something as important as push notifications(???) under the premium tier..Version: 1.8.25

Some promising features, but...I bought this because I use multiple exchange accounts and Apple Mail no longer lets me move email from one account to another. This transfer function works well with Airmail, but the app has a number of annoying quirks which is stopping me from using it as my primary app. The size of the email header font is ridiculously large, and the font in a lot of email previews is tiny (and you can't zoom previews)... so give me some more control please. I'm not overly fond of how they handle conversations, but maybe that's me. I don't use a Archive folder (I put email into individual folders) but the Archive button is displayed prominently on the bottom of emails (reply, archive, delete) leading you to archive stuff accidentally. And the Delete button is not very responsive - so further refinement in needed. I assume Labels is their term for folders? Whatever it is, it sloooow to download emails when you navigate to a folder for the first time. Many folders I tested were just blank and didn't update. Maybe with enough time?? There are some nice features like color coding accounts (pay attention Microsoft), and a customisable actions list. The ability to change color, alignment, bullet, etc when writing emails is very welcome. So it's promising, just lacking in refinement. It's not good enough yet to replace Apple Mail, but could be. (Dang, doesn't work on my iPad Pro - just appears as a small phone app in the middle of the screen).Version: 1.0

So much promiseGreat email app, almost ready to move over (from Spark). Just a few things holding me back from moving over full time: a) Keyboard lagging when forwarding messages with multiple threads b) When using soft keyboard to compose email, the message body doesn't scroll so as you type, the input line disappears out of view c) The text size of the subject line when reading email is stupidly large, if anything it should be smaller than the messages body I've raised the above with Bloop, who have confirmed they are working to resolve, go thumbs up for the responsiveness. Love the full screen experience that offers a pure view, with heaps of functionality. I love the ability to color each message (small slither on the left hand side) per account, love the customizable keyboard shortcuts and nothing comes close to the number of direct third party integrations (including my fav task manager, Swipes). The UI does need a bit of polish, I'd love the swipe gestures not have a pre notification of what you are doing, instead just got on with the gesture (small issue I know). Can't wait to move over once my issues are sorted..Version: 1.1

Like this appVery good app but I’ve found a few problems, if you block a mail not only does it end up in blocked mail as I should but it also shows up in archive mail also if blocked a mail by mistake I can’t find away to unblock it ********** now just LOST ALL MY MAIL deleted app now & installed a different mail app & mail all back thank goodness.Version: 4.1.13

HORRIBLE UPDATEI love how I paid for the app and now I have a green beggar icon permanently floating around now. RUDE!.Version: 1.8.25

Doesn’t check for new messagesThe only way I can get new mail is to open the app and manually refresh the inbox..Version: 5.6.82

Relentless pop up asking you to pay $40 for Premium$40 a year for an EMAIL CLIENT ? How delusional are you?.Version: 5.6.82

Didn't update my emailMy email account that is working perfectly fine with Apple's inbuilt email client is not updating anymore out of the blue after 2 weeks of normal airmail use. Unfortunately I thought I had simply not received any emails that day, which meant I missed an important email with potential consequences. I was shocked that there was no error message that the account could not be updated. This is an extremely important feature that is simply missing and reminds me that Airmail both on OS X and iOS is just full of bugs that make it at the end of the day not suitable for serious use. I want to believe in these products as the provide great customisability and design, but who cares if you cannot rely on the app..Version: 1.1

RobberyNo I don’t want your premium version after buying it on all platforms. It’s wrong on all counts The constant nag asking you to subscribe is so wrong after I paid for it . If they just let me use the old version without the nags I wouldn’t mind so much beware money grabbing developers. Avoid all their software . One time payment means nothing to them I’d give it no stars if I could.Version: 5.0.5

Really disappointed! The update on 24th Jan 2024 has removed the little 3 dot “more” button that was on every message preview in the list of emails in any of the labels, including the inbox. This button was in the bottom right of that messages preview and this saved 2 extra clicks when doing something with that email, such as removing it from the spam folder, or removing/adding a label. My workflow is now slower. Please bring back that little button or at least make it and option to have!!!.Version: 5.6.86

Great App Ruined by SubscriptionI used Airmail for many years and enjoyed its functionality. I had purchased the app for both iOS and MacOS but have now abandoned both due to the sudden imposition of a subscription model. Having purchased the app I took exception at having to clear an advertisement for subscription every time I opened the app. I could have lived without the features the subscription offered but the irritation of advertising within the app that I had already paid for was too much to bear..Version: 2.0.1

Like a beautiful car with some wheels missingI actually paid for it. Without closer scrutiny, it looked awesome: Editors Choice, snazzy graphics, incredibly robust settings. Obviously a lot of work and effort went into the creation of it, and seemingly you can customize it in a myriad ways. I spent several hours trying to set it up, and testing it. The more I dug in, the more confusing it got, and ultimately, I found it unusable. The biggest deal breaker for me was, all sent messages disappear into thin air. There is nothing in the Sent folder. Ever. I have no record if the message was sent. If there is some setting that is buried somewhere which controls this behavior, I am all ears, and curious to know. Second, there is no tech support. Messages sent through the internal setting do not get returned. Live chat is a joke - you cannot even enter your email address in the field provided. Again, so sad, because obviously the app has enormous potential..Version: 5.6.3

Not worth the subscriptionI read good things about this app and decided to pay to use it. I’ve had it one day and have already run into numerous bugs. The biggest being that the app won’t show a badge that says how many unread emails I have. This is… the most basic feature for an email app. I’ve contacted support three times and received no replies. Moving on to the next one I guess. Seems this app has been abandoned. Trying to get a refund now..Version: 5.3

Pay for the app, then take away functionality I have already paid for!So I bought Airmail, and don’t get me wrong, apart from a few minor bugs, it’s great. But it’s morally wrong to remove functionality from an app I have paid for, and then try to sell me back that functionality on a subscription basis! As far as I am aware this violates Apple's policy when switching to a subscription based policy! I will not pay for push notifications when I already bought them. This is really wrong. This policy should be for new users, not existing users. Based on this I don't recommend Airmail. What functionality will be the next to disappear and be sold back to me? Not happy!.Version: 1.8.25

Poor appConstant crash. Support from the team is abysmal. I am a paying Pro customer. Will find another app. Hugely disappointed..Version: 5.2.4

Feedback ButtonTodays update has a bug team. The feedback button when hidden keeps coming back on constantly when switched off..Version: 5.6.82

Longtime Subscriber - I USED to Love ItI have LOVED Airmail and have been almost a zealot in getting people around me to use it. As much as I love the features and more importantly the design elements that keep Airmail less visually cluttered than default Mail and other apps (I’m looking at you Gmail for iOS that is so visually dense on any settings and is like reading the Magna Carta on an index card by candlelight). I’d even be fine paying the YEARLY fee EVERY MONTH if the software worked and the documentation was good. At least then their horrible tech support would not be a barrier as I would be able to solve the problems myself. I can handle EITHER terrible documentation OR terrible tech support. I cannot handle BOTH. Handling aliases in any email client can be a bit clunky. Airmail takes and inherently clunky process and makes it almost unusable. If there is a SINGLE help article or tech documentation on iOS aliases, I defy anyone to find it. There is a very rudimentary article on MacOS that is barely helpful, BUT ZERO ON IOS? What percentage of Airmail customers use time is on iOS vs MacOS? It’s hard to “trust” a piece of productivity software that the developer is that out of touch with its base. I realize no piece of software will meet 100% of each persons needs and satisfaction. However, my satisfaction percentage with Airmail has now dropped so low that I HAVE to leave and find another option..Version: 5.6.82

Pretty but pointlessSure it's the nicest looking email client around, works with any email account and has a million features but I find I spend all my time fixing syncing errors. If I do something on iOS I have to fix something on OSX and vice versa. Tapping 'return' on a subject line doesn't drop the cursor into the email body when composing. Small...but it drives me nuts. The amount of features and customisation is mind boggling. Sometimes I don't even know what they mean or do. I find all this just wastes time fiddling around with unimportant matters..Version: 1.1

Never known such a nagging appI like this app, paid for it years ago so decided to try it again. It constantly nags, & I mean constantly, to sign up for a monthly or annual subscription. I’m sick of it. Without the constant nagging I’d have given a 4.5 rating but the developer harassment has reduced it to 1 imo. Regretfully deleted . PS How many subscriptions do developers think people can afford?.Version: 5.5.10

Inconsistent and problematicI use this app across 6 different devices and have paid the upgrade price. The experience between each device or platform is so random to be unreliable, to a fault. I loved this app during the first 3 years, but now its bugs are completely unforgivable. Pro features will only work on some devices, email will randomly be marked as read en-mass, notifications are just completely broken. This is no longer an app that can be relied on for business. All the good features of this app are completely overshadowed by its faults. Having the app crash multiple times today & break spectacularly in split-screen mode, while trying to respond to clients… just so over it..Version: 5.2.4

Maddening delays make this a painful user experienceAt it’s core, this is a really good app. But the developers make highly questionable choices on a regular basis. Currently the 5-8 second hard coded delays when sending or deleting an email are ruining the experience, forcing a user to stare at the screen for five seconds after sending/deleting before another action can be taken. I request an option to disable those, and they respond to me like I am ridiculous, or have a problem with my hardware. This is a trend with this developer. It’s always something. Unstable app, strange feature they force on you, odd behaviors that take weeks/months to fix. Overall it’s a very solid and attractive app, but it seems to be driven by sloppy decisions..Version: 5.6.82

The best email app & I’ve tried them allI have been using Airmail since it came out on IOS. Recently, as in 2023, it has had problems. I have had to uninstall and re-install three times because it keeps loading a blank, black screen. I have tried to contact support, but have never received a response. It is a PIA to re-do all four of my maiI accounts each time I re-install. I love this app, but I think I’m going to have to switch to another email app. This is simply not acceptable. I’m going to try one more time to re-install this app, but if it happens again, I guess I’ll have to accept the loss of my subscription fee because I refuse to continue dealing with this glitch..Version: 5.6.7

DO NOT DOWNLOAD!!!!I have purchased this app and used it for awhile. Now, the developers decided to remove all the essential functions and move them into subscription based model. Where does this leave us? This practice is unethical, driven by greed and breaches Apple Store Review 3.1.2(a) policy..Version: 1.8.25

BrokenSince I can’t send an email. Airmail is broken since the recent widespread AppleID glitch. I can no longer receive emails or send them via Airmail..Version: 5.7.6

I really want to like this app, but it’s like a beta. Too many issues to be useful.I really want to like this app but there are just TOO many bugs and issues that render this app nearly un-usable. The first, most obvious and strangest is the fact that the main mailbox window “blinks” the email shown in the right hand pane as if it is perpetually updating and trying to re-draw the window. It’s very strange and makes selecting anything other than the MOST recent single email nearly impossible. Also, It seems that the application only downloads (or has access to) a very small subset of ones total email. What use could this possibly serve?! In other words, I CANNOT use this application (even though I paid for a year of it) because I have ZERO confidence that the emails shown in the browser are ALL my email. If i open Apple Mail, I see a completely different set of emails all the time. I hate to say this, but there seem to be SO many quirks and strange behaviors that this software is nearly unusable. The developer needs to make a stable piece of software..Version: 5.2.3

Poor Tech SupportI keep trying other email apps, but I always come back to Airmail. It is simply the best. I can’t find no major problems with it. It is easy too use, customizable, and the $10 a year fee is acceptable. The only complaint I have is in regards to their tech support. They are indeed quick to respond to a support request. But if a problem is not resolved after they make 2 or 3 suggestions, they simply leave you hanging and suddenly do not respond. I recently had a question about the Apple Watch AirMail app. After 3 email conversations back and forth that did not solve the issue, they were suddenly silent. The support simply stopped, without any further ideas. It is as if they completely forgot about me. Improve the tech support and I can at least give 4 stars..Version: 5.2.3

Fake ratingsNot sure how this company keeps getting high ratings. Buggy and a waste of money. Support is garbage abs very unhelpful..Version: 4.1.16

Updated to prescription model after asking moneyStay away from these scummy developers. Bought the app a while ago Used to love this app. But the devs changed to a prescription / free model. You now need to pay for push notifications and multiple accounts. Very upset that they took my money and have taken away basic features, will avoid them at all costs from now on..Version: 1.8.25

Disappointing lack of supportDespite paying a subscription there is a lack of Live support which when off-line states they will email you back. Offline again today a week later and still waiting for a response. No instructions on their support docs that address Microsoft 2-factor Authenticator issues on the iOS version. Probably explains why the last Apple Design award they proudly display was 5 years ago…..Version: 5.2.4

Great iOS app but Apple Watch app not workingI love the design and functionality of Airmail on my iPhone and iPad but for the life of me cannot get it to work on my Apple Watch. Each time I open up the app on the watch it just shows blank content. Pleas can the developers look at this? My hitherto email client, Spark worked well with the watch. Why doesn’t this?.Version: 5.0.4

AdsThe ads upon opening emails are very irritating.Version: 5.2.4

Please please LISTEN to all the negative reviewsI was looking for a spark alternative. I ran into airmail and I saw many negative reviews, which I took stemmed from people’s anger about the subscription model. So I pulled the trigger. Everything went downhill from there. The interface is clunky (takes minutes to load past emails when other apps take a few seconds at the most). Push notifications don’t work, despite having tried everything that customer service told me to do (All the other apps on my phone send me push notifications just fine). I’m cancelling the subscription, asking Apple for a refund (which I hope they’ll honor) and I’ll try to forget I ever downloaded this..Version: 4.1.13

Same Issue as BeforeWhat good is an email app if it doesn’t actually notify you of new emails? This is the second time I’ve tried this app and now it’s doing the exact same thing it did previously when I was using it. Notifications will work for the first 2-3 weeks of having the app installed, then presto no more notifications (yes all settings are correct). To see if I’ve received new emails I have to open the app and check. So again I ask, what good is an email app that doesn’t notify you of new emails? Sure this app has all the bells and whistles (if you’re willing to pay for them) and you can customize this thing to your little hearts desire but what good is all that JUNK, if it can’t even do the most basic process an email app should do? Deleting this garbage once again and going back to Spark. Won’t make the mistake of giving it a 3rd chance either!.Version: 5.0.1

Yea..... nah!So I buy and install Airmail for our desktops and phones. We use it for several years happily and today I find that you want me to pay a subscription for core functionality? Seriously? If I remember correctly, one of the selling points of Airmail upfront was the once off cost, I would never have bothered if I knew you were going subscription based. If you want everyone to pay for a major upgrade, that’s fine, I do that with other apps, but to force everyone to subscription so they can keep what they paid for up front? Sorry guys, no dice. I’ll wait and see if you wake up to the error of your ways. If not, I’m dumping you - it’s not as if there are not alternatives these days......Version: 1.8.25

Great App — unless you use iCloudI have 3 email accounts on Airmail, and 2 of the 3 work great (Office365 and Gmail). My iCloud account, however, has a serious issue with Airmail. All new incoming emails are marked as read upon arrival as soon as the push notification arrives on my phone. If I turn off notifications, the behaviour stops. It’s a real pity — I otherwise love this app, but marking all new emails as read on my iCloud account is a deal-breaker for me. If you do a Google search, this isn’t a new bug (been around at least a couple of years), and their “premium” support is completely useless in solving it. If they fix this bug, I’ll happily come back and renew my subscription, but as it is I’ve cancelled my subscription and advise anybody with iCloud email accounts to steer well clear..Version: 4.1.16

Is there any meaningful documentation for this app?I have used this app for a couple of years and have been generally satisfied. This week several incoming messages I received from someone who is in my Contacts and I regularly exchange emails with were classified as JUNK. When I did a search on this person the new emails showed with a JUNK Icon, the old emails showed as in the inbox or in a folder I had for our emails. I looked for the JUNK folder and looked at settings to see if there was a folder with that name that I could make visible. Nothing. The only documentation I could find was their web page that was more of a list of features with no details. I did a search on their page for junk and that wasn’t even mentioned. I guess the honeymoon is over, because if I can’t figure out how to see and manage my JUNK mail I will be looking for a new email app..Version: 5.6.87

Once Good App Too Buggy To RecommendI’ve used Airmail for a few years and I liked the amount of customization it offered. It wasn’t perfect, but the pros outweighed the cons. Not anymore. Now the app is simply too buggy to recommend. More and more glitches has cropped up that have never been fixed, if they worked at all: “Send Later” email option never worked, “Forward As An Attachment” has stopped working, the photo attachment sizing option never worked properly, rules created in macOS don’t sync to iOS or vice versa (which is ridiculous), Gmail gets bunched together in the All Inboxes field on iOS. I’ve contacted customer service multiple times but these bugs still exist and nowadays my requests for help go unanswered. There are too many other email clients that provide similar features and have better customer service for me to recommend paying money for one that isn’t properly maintained. Even Apple Mail is catching up in features. Airmail had so much promise. It could have been the best alternative to Apple Mail. Its extremely disappointing it’s fallen into disrepair..Version: 5.5.6

Still removing features from those who paid for Airmail 1One of the features I paid for is the right NOT to be pestered to purchase a subscription. The frequency of this makes the app unusable. Now, I’m getting a message that my phone is “insecure” and the app refuses to run at all. Total fail —————— Latest version now removes the ability to mark email as unread. This was included in the non-subscription paid version of Airmail that lots of us paid for. Under pressure from Apple, the developers had to restore a lot of features they tried to move to behind a paywall when they went to subscription. Well, looks like they’re at it again. I’ll be filing a report with Apple again as this is a violation of App Store policies unless I see a quick update with functionality restored..Version: 5.2.4

Constantly crashesChatbot premium support suggested I leave a review. Use something else..Version: 5.6.82

ScammersI paid for this app and then they have now decided to make the app free and cripple the features meaning if you paid for the app you get screwed and they expect you to pay a yearly fee.... I don’t think so.Version: 1.8.28

Absolutely terrible if you are on the moveThis is the worst email Client app if you are on the move… I have been a paid user for three years and it has failed me. Many many many times if you are trying to email through a cellular network, just very very very very disappointed..Version: 5.6.82

It was greatI loved this until about two days ago. It was the perfect app for me to manage multiple accounts from different domains in, but now all the sudden it keeps disabling two of my accounts and every time I try to add them it either fails, or adds them completely wrong so that they some how end up duplicating another email I have set up in the app. It’s pretty irritating..Version: 5.0.4

ScamWas good until they made a subscription out of it. App is useless without push notifications, which you now have to pay extra for..Version: 1.8.25

Original customer who can’t get help and is being overchargedI was an early adopter of Airmail. I purchased pro. I’m now continually being asked to upgrade even although I have paid for my annual renewal. I cannot seem to get through to anyone never mind a human being to attend to this. The Chatbot keeps telling me to leave feedback and provided me with this link. So here is the feedback. Could someone please respond to me? Alan.Version: 5.7.1

Forget it!So instead of fixing the font size problems that make all sent mails look laughable, Airmail changes to a subscription model? And gives current users 4 months free? Please, if this want a public forum I’d tell you exactly where to go! Be that as it may, to anyone reading this and wondering if it’s worth it - heck no it’s not. On the face of it Airmail is a good app, but have a look on a pc at any email you’ve sent, the fonts are ridiculously sized. I’m not someone who slams a product without giving the developers a chance to fix it. Airmail has known about these problems for YEARS and done nothing. Google it and see. Don’t waste your money here. Spark is a much better alternative, and the developed there respond to feedback. It’s not perfect, but it is getting better al the time - unlike airmail that’s getting worse and trying to charge for it. Outlook isn’t bad either. Just whatever you do, don’t spend your money here..Version: 1.8.25
