I was optimistic...I was very optimistic about using this app. It sounded like a great option, and I saw so many great reviews about it on here. They also show the 92% favorable outcome statistic on the app. I used this app to fight my ticket, (I paid about 150) banking on the guarantee that if they couldn’t help me out I would get a refund. However I just got word on my ticket, and basically the attorney showed up, saw the officer was there, and then entered a plea of no contest. (He didn’t fight the ticket at all). I asked for a refund, but was told that since they had “secured” traffic school for me, that I was ineligible. They didn’t secure traffic school for me, that was already an option to start with for my ticket! So in their book I’m part of that 92% favorable outcome, even though they didn’t make my situation any better. To me that’s not a favorable outcome. I called their customer service, but the dude on the phone just hid behind their money back guarantee details that say if they get traffic school for you then you are ineligible for a refund. The guy was worthless on the phone. So I’d say unless you want someone to just show up to court in the hopes that the cop doesn’t show, don’t waste your money on this service..Version: 5.0.4

If I could give less than zero stars I would. The attorney never communicated with me. I have never felt more in the dark in my entire life. Not only that, when I finally got a hold of the attorney by calling their office she told me it was an arraignment hearing then later I got an email saying I lost. I have wound up paying way more for the lawyer retainer and the ticket with the traffic school then I would have paid had I not used this app. The lack of communication I received, the fact that I shoveled out more money for an attorney, the ticket and for traffic school, I would give this app negative stars if I could. Don’t say congrats on getting my ticket points reduced to zero is a moot point when the traffic school absolves the point. This app and attorney did me no favors, cost me way more then the little help it was worth, and I had no communication through the site, with the attorney, or a way to contact the app for help. I had to go on google to find the attorney and badger them for answers that turned out to be false. Don’t be fooled, read the fine print, I doubt you’ll ever get your money back from that money back guarantee. You'll also probably never hear from your lawyer. Don’t waste your time there, go somewhere else..Version: 3.1.1

Appears to me like Smoke and mirrorsAfter paying $600+ to fight a >10mph speeding ticket, 10 days later I receive the following text: “ Hi Bradley, Thank you for booking a case with Off The Record. We really appreciate the trust you put in us. The lawyer that you were matched with reviewed your ticket, but unfortunately, they will be unable to handle your ticket due to a scheduling conflict. We do have another attorney who could handle this for you, but their fee is $1,360 instead of $610. I realize this is an inconvenience and an extra expense, so we would extend a $150 discount, bringing your total fee to $1,210. If you'd like, I could transfer your case to this attorney and charge you the extra $600. If you prefer, I could cancel your case and issue you a full refund of the fee that you've already paid. I'm sorry for the inconvenience! Let me know if you have any questions. Best, Daniella” This really feels like a bait and switch at worst, and a terrible waste of time app at best. I would advise anyone to save their money and look elsewhere for a similar service, as this product feels to me like a scam..Version: 20.0.3

Don’t trust the info they give you before you hire a lawyerEmailed Off The Record to find out if I would still need to make appearance in court for my ticket or if my lawyer would be able to appear in my place, as I am having major surgery and won’t be able to do much for the following month or two. Was told by Off The Record that I would not need to appear for anything and my lawyer would do all of that for me. With that in mind I hired a lawyer through their app and was immediately told by my lawyer that not only would I need to appear 5 days after my surgery, but that he most likely wouldn’t be able to plead my ticket down to anything as well, so there really was no benefit to using Off The Record at all. To top it off, I informed my lawyer that the court date is going to need to be rescheduled since I won’t be in any condition to attended and it’s been three weeks without even a response from him. I’m sure this app has been helpful for some people but for me they have been at best incompetent, and at worst, willing to lie to get your money..Version: 21.0.9

Weaste of moneyFor my GA speeding ticket, it was $560 fine and 4 points if I just paid it off ( which is the best choice to save money and time), so I emailed the court to check for options, which offered me a plea deal for $832 fine and no points, I was not happy with it so I start to look around for attorney to handle the case. I went with Offtherecord and paid more than $300 attorney fee, and here is where the drama starts, the attorney came back with the same offer and called it "Amended Down" for her service so it fit the non refundable condition from Offtherecord. When I questioned about the same offer and the attorney had no advantage as myself, I was blamed I tried to contact the court myself, so the Solicitor remained the same offer. I do not know much about laws, but it does not make much sense, I felt like I stuck with a useless attorney and tough court. So I decide to not take the offer and assume the attorney will appear on the court day so I can try my last luck with the judge. I texted the attorney "good luck to you and me on the court" , later I was surprised the ATTORNEY DID NOT APPEAR AT THE COURT for me. When I asked why, she answered "we obviously are NOT on the same page". When I look back, I have paid Offtherecord for nothing, and the worse I missed the court..Version: 6.0.7

Waste of moneyThe lawyers which gets allotted, care little. I have push to message the lawyer repeatedly to confirm if he will be fighting the case. They already have the fee, better to go in person for hearing much better chance of reducing the ticket without paying to the lawyer..Version: 21.0.9

Not sure I would do it again. So the app worked as advertised, I guess. I got a speeding ticket out of state that I actually felt wasn’t warranted especially since seconds before another cop waved me along through the area to move around another traffic incident. Anyway the ticket was 170$ off the record quoted me $200 to fight the ticket so I figured that was money well spent. I didn’t hear from my lawyer for 2 months then I got congratulated that I won. Except really it got negotiated down to a non moving violation (unrestrained driver) which is total garbage I was wearing a seatbelt. Not wearing a seatbelt is basically criminal in my line of work. I would actually probably rather be called a speeder. Anyway so I don’t have a speeding ticket on my record but I also got stuck with another 135 dollars in court fees. So for twice the price I have a non moving violation. I probably could have bought a plane ticket and returned to court to defend myself in person for the price. I was disappointed in the lawyer communication as well no update until things were decided. That being said the ticket is “off the record”..Version: 5.6.1

Poor customer service from both OTR and their appointed lawyer. What can I say. I’m a truck driver and the driving record of a truck driver IS his résumé. One wrongfully issued ticket can cost you future employment opportunities which is why I sought out a service like OTR with many positive reviews to hopefully settle my pending case. For one, the lawyer they assigned refused to speak to me about my case, made statements on my behalf without my consent, and never once heard my side of the story. The only time he returned my call was after I fired him. Why pay someone for work they never did since square one? Upon firing the lawyer, OTR threatened to send my account to collections as well as damage my credit which is an illegal threat to make toward a customer as well as illegal intimidation tactics. If you go to the BBB, you will see many reviews where previous clients felt OTR was stealing money from them based on false promises. Please read these accounts before you decide to go with OTR and give them your credit card information. I wouldn’t trust these folks again with my money, time, and hopes of getting a ticket dismissed. Wishing everyone out there the best of luck with their life circumstances!.Version: 15.0.3

Horrible ExperienceI had gotten a red light ticket after a cop was following me for a mile or so going through a yellow light in New Jersey. I found this app to help fight the ticket since I live out of state. I asked the lawyer if he can show up on my behalf because I did not live nearby. He stated I HAD to show up in court regardless. He was very unresponsive on the app leading up to the court date. There was no discussion, no game plan. Then, messaged me 2 days prior to the court date he couldn’t make it. When I checked in at the court, they stated my court date was requested to be moved, so I wasn’t on the list. I had no idea that the lawyer made this request because he never told me. Luckily, the court said they could still take my case that day since I lived so far away! Then, the lawyer ended up showing up at court and seemed as if he had no information on the case - despite me submitting all my details via Off the Record and trying to communicate. He didn’t even know what state my driver’s license was in until we were about to speak with the judge. The approach and experience seemed super scammy. Total waste of money. I still ended up with a moving violation (lowered) and still had to pay the full ticket. I would’ve been better off fighting it on my own. It might be unfair to rate the app itself as bad, but the lawyer provided through the app was terrible..Version: 6.0.7
