Lift Log: #1 Weightlifting Log for Negative User Reviews

Poor taste for a poor log bookAfter over a year of muddling through this app, I received a notification while inputting my latest workout results. The developer now wants a subscription fee. I would have paid a one time price for premium content, but the app offers nothing but a jumbled mess to log workouts. Being the most bare bones of logs doesn’t give reason to request a monthly payment. I can’t even get my previous results! I am sure there are better logs out there, but until I find one I will stick with paper..Version: 2.3

Problem - mixes up workouts from yesterday and today it’s less than 24 hours apartPROBLEM: mixes up lifting yeatwrday with today. E.g. if I lifted yesterday at 5 PM, and then today I left at 11 AM, then it lists both under the same “today” heading with no clue as to which exercises were done yesterday versus today, which is the entire point of the app for me… (so now thinking that if this is not fixed, then I have maybe wasted my money unless I can get a refund) PROBLEM: even after I paid for this app the app developer feedback page in the app does not work.(?) so I can only razor shoes through app reviews here. MINOR: Not sure why all caps is prohibited.Version: 2.3

Works well, but...App works as advertised, and much as I dislike subscription apps, I want to support app developers to continue development. I’d love to see a lower price but such is life. My main complaint is there doesn’t seem to be any developer support (emailed a while back and no response), and as soon as the app went subscription the development stopped dead, and there haven’t been any updates in 11 months at this point. Again, the app itself works well, I just wish there was more indication of active development now it’s a subscription app..Version: 2.3

A really bad jokeGot locked out of the app mid workout because I HAD to pay a SUBSCRIPTION... FOR AN UNFINISHED BOOTLEG VERSION OF NOTEPAD++!!! For the very modest sum of 10 dollars... Sorry, 10 dollars PER MONTH!!! This dude makes 100% profit with the amount of effort he put into making it (which is basically none). I’d rather pay 10 bucks to remove that last remaining star than to give it to this clown..Version: 2.3

Beautiful UI but costs more than music streamingThe UI/UX is lovely and entering workout data into this app feels much nicer than having to open up a spreadsheet on your phone. After you enter in a few workouts you get a story about how it’s hard to develop mobile apps as a college graduate, and you become completely blocked out of the app unless you choose to subscribe for $10/month. Sorry, I would pay maybe $1 or $2 a month, but this app is not worth as much as Spotify or Netflix..Version: 2.3

Good App! I have some suggestionsSimple and easy to use for quick workout setup but missing some things… Here’s some things I wish it included: 1 - A way to add quick notes per exercise that showed up in the summary table next to the weight/rep column. i.e. “Seated Row” “115 lbs x 15 reps” “@ level 3” This way we don’t have to make different exercise names for the different intensity levels of one exercise. 2 - The added exercise should show up on the day that was last selected. We shouldn’t have to choose the date every single time. i.e. On Jan 1, you are inputting your workout that you did on Dec. 31. You go to select Dec. 31st and add your first exercise, the leg press. The first set shows up in Dec. 31 but when you click “+” to add the second set, it shoves you back to “Today”. It should keep you on Dec. 31 without having to select it every single time as it was your latest selection. 3 - Option to edit/delete exercise names. 4 - Have an inventory of exercises built into the app so we don’t have to write out the whole exercise. Things I really like: 1 - The “redo” button. It’s convenient to have the option to add a quick repeat set! 2 - The list format. Good to be able to scroll through quickly between days..Version: 2.3

Money hungry, do not downloadDo not download if you are looking for a free fitness log app. It does not display that it requires in-app purchases so you’d assume that it is free. I have been using it for about 4-5 days with no issue. However, after using the app and filling up a page you receive a message that will not go away to subscribe to the service in order to support the developer. If it would have been displayed from the beginning I would not have wasted my time and would still have my metrics but now it’s lost because I deleted the app. The app is easy to use but for the price of the service you may as we just buy a journal or use notes on your phone. The price of the service is not the issue, it is just the principle that it should have been displayed from the beginning there would be a fee.Version: 2.3

ScamThis app will lock you out from you workout log after a few weeks of usage. It will ask you for seriously overpriced subscription to regain access to your records..Version: 2.3

Good when it’s finishedWithout reporting and back up it’s of limited use. With these features added it would be great. In the meantime I’m using something else..Version: 2.3

Poor form (pun intended)Started using this app due to the simplicity, and not having to carry a notepad with me in the gym. After a week and a half, mid workout I got paywalled without warning and no way to see what I had done or continue to log without paying. Luckily I only had 1 1/2 weeks of data in the app. I deleted the app, then re-downloaded to see if I can get access to my workouts. Next I reached out to support through the app, a week ago and have not received any response. So I sent another message today - hopefully I get a response. Although I have re-downloaded I am afraid to log anything, as I do not want to get cut-off mid workout, being forced to pay..... The simplicity is great for my needs, but not if I am going to forced to pay... especially mid workout..Version: 2.3

DisbeliefI genuinely enjoyed this app. Super functional and simple to use. But after just 2 weeks of trying it out (after PURCHASING it) in the middle of a work out I get a membership notification and can’t get back to the previous workout log. I honestly would have paid more for the app initially but I’m not gonna shell out money monthly. And the message of the membership was super blah. Give me some money or you’ll never see you lift log again! What is that??.Version: 2.3

Great but for one glitchI love the simplicity of this app and use it almost every day. The one issue I have is when I try to upload my data or export it, I receive an error message when entering my phone number. I have reached out to the developer twice, with no response either time. I’d be happy to change my rating if I could receive a response to this issue. Otherwise, I may need to turn to another app so I don’t risk losing all of my historical data. TBD....Version: 2.1

Easy to Use, Exports BrokenI really like the ease of use, it is very quick and easy and doesn’t get in the way of your workout. 2 things however really annoy me: the export function simply is broken and should either be fixed or removed, and second, it always asks me to sign-in every single time I launch the app, which also is broken and pointless. This should just stick to what the app does best, track your exercise, weight and reps. The stats function is OK, nothing great, but functional for looking at progress..Version: 2.1

I used to love itThis was my favorite workout app for quite a few years until I received a notice to start paying “mid-workout.” I would’ve gladly paid a monthly fee a long time ago. I even expressed my thoughts a week ago to no avail. Furthermore, all of my workout data for years isn’t accessible. Just send me a notice that you want to be paid before I’m 5 sets into a circuit. I can use a piece of paper and excel sheet for free- I used to be so happy with this app. In my opinion, the founder doesn’t want support- he wants to move on and receive passive revenue. If that’s the case, I wish I could give it zero stars. Also - $5 a month is only a couple less than some of the most major personal training apps- I would’ve been happier paying $1/month or a large lump sum.Version: 2.3

Bait and switchWould leave a zero star review if I could. This program is barely even useful enough to keep on my phone much less pay for after a gotcha trial period of 3 workouts after which a permanent nag screen locks all previous workouts behind it. Want to move to a different program or look at your prior lifts? Too bad, pay me $4.99 per month or $60 a year for the privilege. Dev is garbage for pulling a bait and switch..Version: 2.3

3 stars to 1 starI previously rated this app 3 stars more than a year ago because of its lack of updates, inability to sign in (error codes), and lack of iPad support. I still used the app during this time because it was simple and free. It was one step above writing it down on paper. It stored information I entered. Today, 35 minutes into a workout I attempted to enter data on a set and I got hit with a subscription window. This app never worked right, why would I pay for it? I attempted to close the window to discover I couldn’t. I was locked out of not only my current workout, but from even viewing previous ones. I got photobucket’d. This action is inexcusable and I’ll never download anything from this developer again..Version: 2.2

So SadAs others have mentioned, this was the best simple way to log your workouts without any of the nonsense most of the other apps on here made you endure. Unfortunately, the way that this pay-wall rollout was done was so shortsighted. $8 a month for a glorified notepad is way off base. I imagine the user base of this app has plummeted as a result of the shady way this was done. I understand that the developer wants to be transparent, but not offering a free version with an upgrade option is just foolish at this point. I’ll just log my lifts on a different app. So sad....Version: 2.3

Decent, could be betterOverall a nice app, with one annoyance and a fews areas that could be improved. 1. For some reason, the days turn over at 19:00, so when I’m logging my sets, I’m working out on one day at 18:59 and a different day at 19:01. This should be fixed. 2. Adding sets could be improved. Simply double tapping an earlier set could copy it, rather than having to use the list. 3. Some way to enter resistance other that weight. Resistance bands and grip strengtheners don’t always have their “weights” listed, so being able to list their color or level would be nice. Point one takes 2 points. The last two just would be nice..Version: 2.3

Forced subscription? Seriously?I understand that the you need the money and it's a norm to have a subscription these days, but just busting out an unclosable pop-up that demands a subscription is not the way too do it. All the history of my logs is there and I can't even access it. I don't have a choice at this point. Not even any buffer period to decide. I might have payed a one time fee if that was an option, but now this practice just pisses me off. I'm definitely not paying for it now..Version: 2.3

Wish I could give it a higher rating but...Been using this app for years now, and not sure if this has always been the case but the most annoying thing about this tracker is that in order to log two separate days of workout, the app needs 24 hours to recognize each day - so should you workout at 10pm one night and then 8am the next day, your 8am workout will be logged into the workout from the night before. As someone who doesn’t have a set schedule, this is EXTREMELY annoying, so I’m just sitting to tracking via my notes. I will be cancelling my membership as a result..Version: 2.3

Nice log but needs fixing.Love the app to easily log my workouts by exercise which makes it easy to look back and see what I did for that day’s body part. But not all features are working and it’s shame because one of the features that I liked was the graph to see improvements or setbacks. The designer alleges that he is too busy to keep updating and fixing. That’s a shame since I paid for the year to use this app. Update: it’s been several months and still no update to fix and have the graphs working..Version: 2.3

Not freeSo buddy randomly decides he wants money for the app--- fair enough-- but I can't even see my data anymore . So I either pay or lose weeks of data I've logged. Thanks 👍🏼 searching for a new app.Version: 2.3

Sudden lock out of all historyI used the free app for over a year, but could never export my data because once Twitter Digits became defunct the developer provided no other way to make an account or export data. Then this update directs me to go to a settings section that doesn’t exist to enter an email address. Still can’t export any data. And finally a sudden, unannounced demand for subscription before I can even see any of my previous information ... Not a good way to run a product, Jake..Version: 2.3

Don’t PurchaseUsed this app back when it was free and it was perfect, specifically the statistics and progress graphs. When it went to subscription I signed up but somehow the developer took away key features that had made the app so great. However, for months he has said they are working on adding the features back. “Coming soon” never came and he doesn’t respond to support questions so I’ve canceled my subscription. I think the developer just relies on people paying for a short time based on promises with the expectations they’ll cancel but he’ll have made a few bucks in the process..Version: 2.3

Missing featuresWhen can we expect stats to come back? Major feature gone for some time now..Version: 2.3

A Forced Subscription? It would have been better to charge a one-time fee to access all the benefits of the app. Rather than pushing an update and users are now forced to lose data or wait for an update to export data or better yet force an update for a subscription to keep your data right away. Very smart way to lose people to other apps on the App Store. I wouldn’t tell people about graduating college and then swindling a subscription in order for people to save their data. It’s an obvious tactic as you must know your users have years of data stored on the app. The best solution would be to offer a one time purchase. And a monthly subscription for storing data should offer more benefits than what your offering. I will download another app until there is an export feature of this app to save my years of data..Version: 2.2

MisleadingI thought this was the perfect app. Then when the developer graduated college, the developer needed to charge for the use of the app. I had no trouble with this. However I did loose access to my data on this app. Had no warning I would loose access to my data that I had logged while using the app. I emailed the developer many times about at least giving me my lift data I had entered while using this app and no one responded. I was truly disappointed because I really wanted to support small app developers..Version: 2.3

Hijacked the log with a nag in the middle of my workout. No warning. Then it wants to tax me the rest of my life just to keep track of what weight I'm on for any particular exercise. No decent features (not like I can tap a button to lower the number of reps when I miss the target for the set or something to keep track of which handlebar I'm using on a machine), it's only slightly more fancy than a spreadsheet. If it had waited till the end of the workout to roll out its paywall I would've been about 50/50 on a one time purchase (every month forever subscriptions are for rubes and suckers though)..Version: 2.3

Wasn’t perfect when the data was it free and now you’re holding my data hostageAs a oly weightlifter AND an IT professional, I’m incredibly angry about this transition to the subscription service without warning and without the option to export my data before the change. When the app was free, it wasn’t perfect but it did the job to help me track my practice lifts and my heavy set(s) for the day. But, I couldn’t mark if I was doing 3x5 or 5x3 or 1x5... but for free (or even $0.99) I could live with it. Now, without warning, you changed it to an expensive subscription service (I’m sorry but this isn’t worth $8/mo without serious development upgrades) without giving me the choice to pull my data out beforehand! That’s not how good development works - you let people know the change is coming and give them a small window to remove their data (in my case, 2 years worth) and then turn this subscription feature on. You are basically holding my data hostage (that is, until you figure out how to export it to me). This is poor development and TERRIBLE customer service..Version: 2.2

Ruined the appI understand you want to make money from the app but £54.99 a year is too much for something that only saves what you lift. It was a decent app but now it won’t let you on it without paying which is a shame.Version: 2.3

Not worth an expensive subscriptionI just started using this app a few weeks ago and enjoyed the simplicity of the design. It's a step above a note taking app in that I could select which exercise I was doing and replicate sets with a single click. It was a little bare-bones and I wasn't quite sure it would work for what I need for long term data collection, but I wanted to give it a shot for a couple months to see. Then, RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE of working out, between one set and the next, I got hit with a paywall asking for a monthly subscription. Literally between one set and the next! No way to put of subscribing. No way to log my set. No way to see my previous set. No way to view any of my data. No way to export what I already put in. No warning this would happen. It would be one thing if this app had specified it had in-app purchases when I downloaded it, or if I had been notified this was going to happen, or if there had been a single initial fee, or even a reasonable monthly fee (like a dollar or two). But none of that was the case. Like I said, this app is just a step above a note taking app. It's not worth the monthly cost. On top of that, just on principle, I refuse to support an app that takes its user's data hostage..Version: 2.3

Bait and switchUsed this app for about a year because it was simple to use and, most importantly, free. Suddenly, the developer decides to switch to a subscription model without warning and freezes users out of the data they’ve accumulated under the free version. Seems like an unfair and deceptive practice to me. Gotta say, even if it were worth the monthly fee, the way the developer implemented this switch is steering me away from the app. Whose to say he won’t raise the price and hold users’ data hostage again?.Version: 2.3

No customer supportThe app does what it’s supposed to but I can’t back anything up (if I delete the app or erase my phone, I lose everything). I emailed the creators a month ago because their backup system is broken and I never got an answer..Version: 2.1

No app supportUnfortunately there is no app support your directed to Twitter LinkedIn etc. where I have messaged Jake more wishing to cancel my automatic renewal subscription and also inquiring room inquiring about his new app for AI fitness I do not want my payment to be taken out again at the end of my current subscription and I have no way of communicating that or getting a response at this point not sure how Apple allows this to continue.Version: 2.3

Locked out and they want moneyI want my logs. Been using this app since aug 2018 and now locked out and being forced to pay. Poor taste. Understand the need to make money but you just screwed a lot of people. A heads up would had been nice so we could at least get our logs saved instead of just losing them. Apple will be hearing from me on this shifty act from the developer of this app. For anyone wanting a app to use for logging I say run not walk away from this app. And for anyone that I sent here to use this app and there are many I am sorry..Version: 2.3
