✓ Learning Farsi? Look elsewhere.I’ve been trying to learn Farsi because my wife is Persian. I subscribed to Mondly because I liked the layout style and navigation - however, when I started to dive in and start the lessons it became obvious that Mondly’s translations are absolutely terrible. It’s as if the developers just copied and pasted from Google translate. The voiceover rarely matches the spelled word on the flash card (ie the voice says Saabat while the word on the flash card is spelled Sabaar). Additionally, the word definitions are inaccurate, the expressions and sentences are not relevant or used by modern day Persians. ✓ Good app, however...Let me tell you everything nag you need to know about this app. Yes, you get about 2 levels free, along with one daily lesson. You also get a “chatbot” that you can chat with. That is actually very nice. For the other levels, you must pay. ✓ The developer must be deaf!This application actually has a lot of potential to get better and be more effective. I already paid an annual subscription, because you basically can't expect a sufficient app in the long run, if it's completely free of charge or full of intrusive ads. I also believe that users need to make their own contributions to ensure steady improvement by reporting any found errors. So I proactively and repeatedly gave accurate feedbacks, because there are so many substantial errors in syntax, verb conjugations and translations along with many audio and script discrepancies! Not only in Farsi, but in all other 33 languages which I patiently checked out. So what do you expect? Any kind of reaction, right? But IT'S FREAKING SUCH A FRUSTRATING AND DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE that my well-intentioned comments are being just ignored. I PAID FOR a SERVICE but receive ZERO RESPONSE. ✓ So many errorsThe app is well made, but the lessons have so many small errors. Problems with the transliteration, different vocabulary used in different parts of the lessons (e.g. introducing a word at the start of the lesson but then using a synonym later in sentences), or different audio than what is shown on screen. It could really use a QA review by a language expert. I’ll keep using it because I paid for it, but I continually have to double check things or guess at what the right answer is supposed to be. Update: The issue with inconsistent vocabulary is EVERYWHERE. I can’t seem to get through a lesson lately that doesn’t have this problem. ✓ Great audio, full of errorsI'm an intermediate learning of Persian and it's difficult to find enough study material, so I was pleased to come across this app. On the surface, it seemed great: well set out, excellent audio with native speakers, and really good repetition, so I gave in and paid for a year. However, I have very quickly found it is loaded with errors, where the audio and the exercises don't match and the exercises give you the wrong choices. It is clear to me that no one has quality controlled it, as they are simple errors that would be easy to fix. It's annoying enough as an intermediate learner where I can see the mistakes - as a beginner, this would be hopeless. ✓ Great potentialA LOT of potential, on lesson 2 and considering the 12 month subscription but it has a few issues that if resolved would make this perfect and would be happy to commit to the subscription. 1) none of the words or phrases are spoken, and when tapping the speaker icon it changes to the snail icon (for slower) but still no audio, this could just be on my device but a crucial element of learning the language (I have the sound on as I can hear the confirmation tones and dings) 2) the underlining of words and pop-up with further info is a great feature but sometimes some words or half of a phrase is not underlined and not explained, this is confusing 3) in lesson 2 the path for learning and memorisation that was showcased in the introduction was not followed, certain phrases were not shown first but just appeared in the word selection / sentence builder, so brand new words or phrases are supposed to be guessed or worked out by trial and error?
