✓ Very frustratedI used to use this app a lot for learning German. I’ve recently gotten back into it because I had to move to Germany for work, but some of the functions seemed to just not work anymore. The most frustrating of all is it will not pronounce the words in lessons anymore, but it still works in the daily lesson for some reason. If there’s something I’m doing wrong on my end please let me know, but I have it set to pronounce the words in settings and it works in daily lesson and chatbot only. ✓ Many mistakesThere are many instances where the German spoken in the course does not match the written German. For instance many of the spoken German is in second person singular but the required answer is in second person plural. When a noun is given it should be with the requisite pronoun so that gender is hammered into memory. Many of the required English responses are stilted, for instance, I would say for ‘Ich suche’ ‘ I am searching’ or ‘I am looking for...’ but your course records these as wrong..PoskycatVersion: 7.1.13

✓ Terrible billing systemThe Mondly App itself is a good language learning system. However, when you’re ready to cancel, it’s almost impossible to find how to do that on the app. And you will get automatically billed even if you don’t authorize it. ✓ Not bad but too many mistakesI’m trying to learn German and I ask the app to be in my native Polish so the grammar is clearer. But no, the Polish translations are really bad, they mark as wrong if you change the phrasing or word order ( which is flexible in Polish) and sometimes a question translates into a positive sentence and vice versa or “where do I buy tickets” translates to “how to get to the ticket office ?” ! ✓ OK but not greatMondly German is a basic program which aims to give a basic grounding in the language. I have been learning German intensively for about 9 months and have reached the top of CFER A1.1 using another program and other materials. I have just completed a 7 day free trial on Mondly in order to have a look at the subscription features. Mondly is OK but I wouldn’t recommend it. Some of the language and translations given are sloppy and some downright wrong. However, if you are a visual learner Mondly might be good. As with many of these mobile programs there is no teaching - the learner is just pitched in and has to figure it out for themselves. The structure of the language doesn’t come through. ✓ Seems like it could be great, but...I thought I would give this app a try. I’ve been using other apps to study German. This one seems very promising. I did like The idea of the chat bot. However the speech to text was just awful. Every time I used it, it took six or seven attempts just to get it to recognize what I was saying. I did not have this difficulty with other apps. I’m sure it is partially an issue of my pronunciation, but I have to believe that it’s more than that because this does work in other apps for me..DschildVersion: 7.0.6

✓ Incorrect solutionsThis app is fine for very beginners, but it’s not helpful if you already know any German. Playing at the Advanced level, I still found it wasn’t challenging enough, nor did it help me understand the grammatical structure. Also, there are quite a few instances where the solutions given are wrong. For example: Mondly narration: Was studierst du? I type: Was studierst du? Mondly: Correct answer is Was studieren Sie? ✓ Only for absolute beginnersThis app is very polished in terms of interface and graphics, but very poor in terms of content. Even when you choose an “Advanced” level it starts your lessons with words like “flower” and “garden”.
