Highly problematic and annoyingThe game is actually quite a good idea and I'm a fan of the visual and audio aspects. However, there are very few instructions, the power-ups are hidden and cost money to replace (no way of earning them in-game) it's very repetitive and annoying after a while, particularly because the main controls are perilously close to the Control Centre of your phone. This means in game you will accidentally open Control Centre and mess up your game. Also worth noting this game will kill your battery and boil your iPhone if you use it for more than about 2 minutes at a time. I find that the price of this game, added to the fact you have to pay again to complete it will put a lot of people off as that is a fairly stupid idea and not really worth the time or money. I want my money back if I'm totally honest..Version: 1.01

Wish I could give a good reviewI enjoy playing this game but can’t recommend it due to its enormous drain on my 6s+ battery, to the point that I wonder if playing it will do permanent damage to my phone. I just timed myself playing for 15 minutes, and had 25% battery drain, so 1 hour of playing Inks would completely drain my full battery. My iPhone also gets HOT! Nothing else I do on my phone comes remotely close to draining my battery as quickly. Even if I have my phone plugged in to a good, fast-charging source, this game drains the battery faster than it can recharge! Another weird thing is that despite the high power draw, Inks never gets reported in my iOS-11 “battery” usage settings page. Are the few of us here reporting rapid battery drain the exception? Is the game working without extreme battery usage for most players?.Version: 1.5.1

Beautiful but FrustratingLoved the style of this game and its simplistic approach to pinball. The art is especially neat. If you are a completionist, this game will start to drive you crazy with its demand for utterly precise control. Vespa #12 killed the game for me when the skillshot powerup didn’t work on the upper set of flippers. After a while, I started wishing the game just had the usual multipliers, flashing lights, and extra balls. Again – if you want a simple, addictive game this might be the app for you. If you are a completionist like myself, the game will start to feel like a grind after the first couple sets of levels..Version: 1.5.1

One iPhone X bug. Ouch!Amazing game by an amazing game development company. Nothing but gold with their other products! My issue is that sometimes my taps don’t register to trigger the flippers on iPhone X. This often results in the ball dropping through the center. Either that or there is a delay between the trigger and he tap. The issue needs fixed so badly. The mechanics feel incredibly inconsistent and really take away from what looks to be a very well made game..Version: 1.5.2

Promising game, lovely graphicsI love pinball. I have tried literally hundreds of pinball apps over the years. I only still have a couple of them on my iPad. This one has promise but it gets frustrating early. I'd love to have a choice of playing classic pinball, where I can play 3 balls then get more as I score, etc, rather than having my ball sucked into the black hole before advancing to the next level. Otherwise, it's over too quick and I'll look for something else to play. The graphics are very nice, love the paintball splats. It has potential, just need to develop it a bit more..Version: 1.5

FIX THE PADDLES PLEASEThis game is really interesting and fun. I especially love how the ink splatters from its capsule depending on hard the ball hits it. The way the ball trails ink is also very captivating and it’s interesting to see how your “picture” turns out after a game. HOWEVER the paddles in this game move so erratically. The sensitivity of the paddles are terrible, in some stages the paddles lag when tapped and in others they simply DO NOT work. I really enjoy this game but for the love of all pinball goodness, FIX THE SICKENING PADDLES!! I have gone from loving this game to shuddering at the sight of it. Please, if you guys care at all about your game or the community that is forming, please fix the paddles. I have read many reviews talking about the paddles and I still purchased the game thinking it would be fixed. So please do something about this..Version: 1.5.3

Poor DesignThis game started off great, elegant levels and fun challenges. However, after I got to the level pack "Vespa" I started to become extremely annoyed at the first few levels. This was because they didn't flow well. The "Break Out" style mechanic in this level disrupted the flow of the game and made levels needlessly long. Because of this I will only rate the game 3 stars. It was extremely fun at first then became very annoying and tedious..Version: 1.5

Great Visuals, terrible In-App Purchase MechanicsGetting a refund. You can too via iTunes on computer > Account > Purchase History > Report a problem. REVIEW Asking for more money without a hint in the options or a real explanation of the power up mechanism. All I knew was I had 100 points, I spent them thinking I had points from completing levels and turns out no. They were "on the house" to use gambling parlance. I lost interest after finding out more points cost money. I didn't even know the last levels were with a price until I read the reviews before starting my own..Version: 1.01

Lovely visuals but ruined by glitchesMarred by a glitch that occurs on most levels, meaning that half the time the flipper has a huge delay when you tap. I’m on a brand new XS, so it’s definitely an issue with the game. Real shame because the game mechanics and art are nice. Needs fixing!.Version: 1.5.6

Broken - left bumper frequently doesn’t workEver got fixed.Version: 1.5.6

Rather costly.Could be a nice mellow out game. But the sluggish controls (I'm using a brand new XS Max) just makes it infuriating. Difficult to believe the developers not aware if this but they have launched at what is a premium App Store price anyway..Version: 1.5.3

Pretty but could be betterIf you play this on an iPad whilst lying on your back, where are your thumbs? In the top half of the screen, of course. Any lower is uncomfortable. But the game uses only the bottom half of the screen for flipper control. Other pinball apps I've played lets you use the whole screen. Despite the many screen layouts, the game also feels "shallower" than serious pinball games, in which play modes have to be unlocked gradually. Here it feels like much the same thing each time, only with things in different places. So while I'm kinda enjoying it so far (it looks gorgeous for sure), I'm not sure bout its longevity..Version: 1.4

Only 3/5s of a gameIt's a very pretty version of pinball. I like the use of colour and the mechanics of the game. It's really enjoyable. The only problem I have is that you are only paying for three fifths of the game. You have to pay extra for two more levels out out of five. I wouldn't have minded but I'd already paid for the app and don't mind paying for in game currency for power ups but when I've completed the levels in one evening and then expected to pay again for what look like fun levels is a bit annoying..Version: 1.0

Laggy, boring and expensive.I went to buy Lumino City but for an extra £1 I was able to get this game (and another). A good deal really. But the game just doesn’t work properly. As many other reviews have said, the flippers just don’t react. So frustrating and should have been fixed years ago. Add to that the fact that despite playing for the game, they devs expect you to pay to get the last chapters and for power-ups, then it becomes insulting. Three years since an update, the game doesn’t work properly and they still have the cheek to charge people and then charge them again for extras. Very poor form..Version: 1.5.6

Awesome Game, Unresponsive ControlsAmazing game! I love everything about it except the awful unresponsive controls. In any pinball style game i have ever played on iOS you can touch almost anywhere on the left or right half of the screen to activate the flipper, but for whatever reason there is a small circle that activates the flipper in this game. Awful UX choice. Its a really amazing game but the control scheme is triggering..Version: 1.5.6

Lovely gameLovely game, but the control levers are too close to the bottom and the screen lock slider keeps popping up in the middle of the game. If this is fixed I would happily recommend..Version: 1.5.1

Paintball not PinballAs an actual pinball game it's pretty boring and not very challenging. It's just really gimmicky. Once you get all the colours the game is over. The only real value to the game is to see what different types of patterns and images you can create. If you don't care at all at getting a high score and get to the black pinballs, making patterns can be really fun. It depends on what type of game experience you want from a pinball game. For me this is not the pinball game experience I am looking for. Knock yourself out and give it a try..Version: 1.5

It's alrightIt's a good pin ball game that has pretty good controls. Depends on what phone you have. But the one thing that flopped is that it's not online. Nor much levels, some levels are way harder then others and it's all around the place. Overall, Not bad but improvements are needed.Version: 1.5

A tedious exercise in ‘flipper bashing’Nice looking game, but so obviously designed to make money. At the start I thought ‘nice, no IAP!’ but then it comes… levels designed specifically to make you buy power-ups. Ugh. And then just ‘button bashing’. Not fun. I remember when developers simply sold good, complete games without trying to siphon money out of you..Version: 1.5.6

Points for originality, but...I'll give them points for originality, because this truly is unique, but unfortunately I fail to see the point. Maybe in some surrealist art experiment way this is fun, but at the end of the day there is no reason for this to be on my phone. They claim to have taken the stress out of pinball but there are some levels that were incredibly tedious and stress inducing. I guess the end results at times are pretty but that alone is not enough to keep this game, or lack thereof, on my phone..Version: 1.5

Slow and Choppy!!!!Even on my iPhone 6 Plus, this game is slow and choppy and stutters on occasions. Playing it makes the phone heat up and it chews through battery. It is also a 300+MB download. This is inexcusable for several reasons, but mainly because it's just 2D, and because it was an App Store featured app. It baffles me how apple can recommend an app that plays choppy on devices that are 1 year old. It also baffles me how the developers managed to make this game so slow and choppy and bloated, considering the super simple graphics and minimal sound effects. Did they use uncompressed TIFF files for graphics? And uncompressed WAV for audio? What's going on? This game should be running SUPER FAST. FIX IT PLEASE!!!.Version: 1.01

Lag!This would be a great game, however, occasionally it suffers from lag - I tap to activate the flipper and it doesn’t respond immediately - which is unacceptable on a pinball game. I’m running this on an 8thGen iPad, with very few other apps installed..Version: 1.5.6

No tilt? Many standard pinball moves do not work for this game. This makes it difficult to maintain control of the ball. I get more SDTMs in this gamethan any other pinball games. The lack of a tilt feature makes every one of those a ball losses. Painful to play two-handed on iphone 6s. Would be nice if a landscape mide were available, that panned with the ball. This game is still fun, albeit more frustrating than traditional pinball..Version: 1.5.2

Have to pay for the last two level packsI'm happy to pay for a good game, and, if it's made clear from the outset, then I'm happy to pay for extra expansions if it's worth it. The fact you have to pay the same again for the last two level packs does not feel worth it. There are no instructions on the game (power ups? What do they do? How do you earn credits?) and it's pretty, but it's very samey. It took me a few hours to complete and because there were no extra goals or challenges I don't feel the need to replay the levels until I get gold on all of them. There's no variation, no option for unlimited play, where you can make pretty patterns all you want. I'm sure each level takes a lot of programming ability, time and dedication, but visually there's nothing special to deserve the extra money. It's not challenging or engaging enough. If you're going to charge double for a game than initially advertised then at least make it addictive enough to part us from our money..Version: 1.01

Painful!I feel I have to comment on the very awkward way in which you have to hold your phone to play. The whole of the bottom half of the screen acts as the control section (left side for left flipper and vice versa). However, if you position your thumbs anywhere but st the very bottom corners of the screen they get in the way. This means you can't see the ball in the crucial moment before it reaches the flipper making timing your flip very difficult. So this means that I find that I have to hold the phone with my thumbs only just on the screen and the phone precariously balanced on my outstretched index fingers. Not only does this feel very unstable but I find that after a very short while my thumbs start to cramp and ache! Not very relaxing. Apart from the awkward handling I've enjoyed the game but found it very quickly becomes repetitive. Also some levels (circular arrays of bumpers, I'm looking at you) boil down to plain old luck if you're to achieve a gold or gold + star rating. Overall it's a nice try at re-inventing pinball/bagatelle, and the paint and trail effects are certainly pretty, but there's simply not enough going on on the tables to hold my interest. UPDATE: After a long break from playing I resumed from the Vespa level set. Not the right set to come back in on - annoying and repetitive level design based on rows of bumper walls that reset fairly quickly. Became rapidly bored so deleted..Version: 1.4

It’s fun but glitchyI have trouble with the flippers being unresponsive very frequently. It’s a great game but very frustrating when you miss a shot because the flipper doesn’t even move when you want it to..Version: 1.5.6

Right paddle glitchThere is a glitch with the right paddle where it doesn’t move at times. Otherwise this is a five star game..Version: 1.5.3

The menus drive me nutsI want to love INKS because it’s pretty and simple, two things I really love in a game. However, I am constantly triggering the menu in the middle of play when trying to activate the paddles. Constantly. And this ruins the play in a really frustrating way. I’m not usually clumsy with my thumbs in other games... maybe this would be better played on an iPad where the screen is large enough? On my iPhone XR, however, it’s just frustrating..Version: 1.5.6

Slow gameGreat game if you are patient. 1 level took me 36 minutes to finish..Version: 1.5

BoringI can’t believe I paid for this. Utterly boring and it is not ergonomically designed, it gets painful rapidly, even if you play on an iPhone 7 Plus. I can’t imagine how it feels on a smaller screen!.Version: 1.5.2

Still no fix for the paddlesI paid good money for this game and expect the developers to at least give us a working game. I love it for passing time when on a flight, as my other games all require network connection. But as others have already complained about many times, it’s just frustrating to keep missing shots because a paddle (usually the left one for me) doesn’t work or fires half a second late. This leads to other passengers on the flight becoming concerned about my anger levels... I have to put it away before they turn the flight around..Version: 1.5.6

CrashesCrashes a lot, but it's alright for free I guess.Version: 1.5

Nice idea but poorly executed.Frame rate stuttering on a new iPhone was the first thing to ruin this for me. But long term it's that ideas are staggered out so much through the stages you get bored trying to get to any interesting stages right at the end. That and the sound design is completely uninspired. Feels like a waste of an opportunity all round. Regret spending money on it..Version: 1.01

Impossible ballsSometimes I think this game is unfair. If the ball goes straight down the middle then it is impossible for the paddles to get it. I was about to get a star at the end of a level but then it did the impossible ball “thing” a few times and made me get a black at the end. I know pin ball is sposed to be like that but it gets really frustrating and makes me not want to play it 🥶 .Still an awesome game! So addicting! 😂 LOVE IT!!!!.Version: 1.5.6

Controls don't respondI find it really frustrating and impossible to play when you press the screen (in the correct areas) and the flippers do squat..Version: 1.5

Waste of time. It's pretty if you think 1994 paint splatter is pretty. Otherwise this game is terrible. To call it a puzzle game or pinball is damaging to both. I looked the it looked well enough to keep the game for a week to keep trying to like it. If it was life pinball, and you could keep playing a table to make points it would be fun. But it's not that. It's just hit an object that looks pinballesque, a certain way to go up a channel or around a bend, then move on. It's really a cleverly disguised rip off of Angry Birds.. it's fun enough for using while pooping, but otherwise not with it..Version: 1.5

Beautiful and fun but suddenly started buggingSince I’m a huge fan of real physical pinball, virtual pinball games often disappoint since the timing is so crucial and hard to recreate. Nonetheless I enjoyed this app, but since about a month or so, the flippers have become unresponsive and unreliable. Every so often I watch in despair as the ball slowly rolls over the flipper and drains even though I’m pressing the screen. Other times the flipper will activate but just a bit too slowly, which is just as bad. Therefore, I give up. It was a good run, but no more..Version: 1.5.2

Pretty, but, I can’t rate this game very high. This is a pretty game. With that out of the way, on to the detractors. The game is extremely resource intensive and a short session of playing will cause your phone to heat up and put a severe drain on your battery. You’ve been warned! And before you start to think I’m running this on an older phone... I’m using the iPhone 7 Plus. Maybe not the newest version but no slouch either. If the developers could work out the issues with the excessive resource drain this game would rate much higher. All of the 5 star ratings are from ADHD players who run the game for 5 minutes and move on to something else and don’t even notice the resource drain..Version: 1.5.1

This game is great except for...I love this game stylistically. I have gone so far as to purchase power-ups (for some of the more difficult ones), which I NEVER do. Disappointed that I’ve had power-ups (both purchased and earned) used mid-game without restarting the level, which could be easily remedied by a simple pop-up for confirmation..Version: 1.5.1

Has a few programmers pitfalls. While the game is lovely to play, it has two issues with its programming. One of which means it's child sharing unfriendly. The first is that not every color panel can be hit when a ball rolls past them. I've seen a few levels where the ball is rolling along a rim and one panel simply won't activate reliably. The panel in front of it and all of those behind get hit, but that single panel won't respond. (Dawn 12, topmost orange panel is an example) The second issue is that the powerups are permanently limited in number. Once they are used... they're gone. Not only can they be lost but their purpose can be nullified. This essentially means of you let a child play they will consume all of the powerups and potentially hit the purchase button repeatedly ( which is also why you can turn off in-app purchases). Bluntly put, you can't share this app. Which makes it pointless as a game of you can't give others the opportunity to try it. The only alternative is to 💵buy the unlimited booster points. Which makes the levels trivial as you can then use as many powerups as you want. A middle ground would have been if the booster purchase kept that unlock free, only for that stage (so you could turn it on or off if wanted.) So if you messed up, you'd still be able to get value out of it. Or if you completed all of the levels with gold the boosters became free in that segment..Version: 1.5

Low frame ratesGame would be great if it wasn’t from the low frame rates issue on iPhone X. Also the triggers are unresponsive from time to time. Quite frustrating..Version: 1.5.6

It’s pretty but needs some tweakingI purchased this after spending a few months with Kami. Conceptually the game is rad but a bit frustrating b/c of the flapper controls. I know the issue is that I move my thumbs slightly when using the “flappers” but that shouldn’t lead to a randomly paused game or a missed shot. If Kami was an “A” this is a “C”..Version: 1.5.6

Say goodbye to your batteryNice game, very simple and visually great... but with that comes battery usage, and lots of it! After playing for half an hour the game had zapped 70% of my battery life... not impressed.Version: 1.5.2

Nice at first then disappointingThis game is really nice, but not worth the money. I finished all the levels in 2 hours and then found out I needed to pay more money to unlock the rest. Seriously? Plus my iPhone 6 gets crazy hot and the game drains the battery surprisingly fast, so much so that I don't bother to keep playing..Version: 1.01

Controls OMGUnresponsive control issues cripple what would otherwise be a great game. This is essentially pinball..reflexes and controls are everything. If there's lag..forget it..Version: 1.5

Looks badThe paint/ink is pixelated? Overall not very entertaining..Version: 1.5.6

Fun game, but...This is a very fun game, nice job guys, but there's one small problem: I'd imagine that most people will play this for relaxation and stress relief, however I found that some levels, mainly one with those black holes, gives unforgiving difficulty spikes which can stress out some players, or at least they stressed me out a little. I would enjoy this game a little more if you made those levels a little easier by, I don't know, making the black holes a little smaller or easier to get out of maybe? Other than that, very cool game!.Version: 1.5

Not worth paying for.The flippers are not very responsive for me, and sometimes it doesn't register that my finger is there. Gets boring after 2, and I just want free play with an exciting table (one with the same concept but with bumpers, smaller table, etc) This would have been okay for 99c, but not for $3. The colours are beautiful and love that they create lines and patterns but I'd rather pick when I want it to end the level..Version: 1.01

Controls are LaggyThe paddles are not immediately responsive. It completely ruins an otherwise fun and unique game. As a side note -- now that I'm writing this review I might as well mention it -- the par score for earning a star on a level is way too unrealistic. This is pinball. With or without the powerups, it's impossible to even hope to complete the level in a certain number of hits. The top score should be finishing the level with one ball..Version: 1.5

Not good for iPadsOnly works in portrait mode, so it’s not suited for an iPad (have to detach keyboard and flip to play). Also, the flipper controls are too close to the edge of the iPad screen, so if you aren’t exact, you end up swiping the app closed. Which ends your level without a score and you have to start all over again. Poor ergonomics for iPads. Can’t recommend..Version: 1.5.6

Fun but buggy.Very nice and well designed game. Love the idea and objective. Big problem I have is there is a bug cause huge resources to be used. After less then 5 minutes the phone will get really hot and the frame rate will drop horribly low. This is not a heavy graphical game so having such a drain on resources is a huge problem. Needs to be fixed. Also, it down not remember what sound setting you left it at even though the slider indicates correctly. I have to go move the slider to low every time I open the game. And because of the previous big I have to constantly close the app just to ply the he longer than 5 minutes. Please fix the app..Version: 1.5

Fun but a little brokenA lot of fun and challenging. However, there's a dead-zone for the paddles on the iPhone 7 Plus that prevents you from making a paddle work. Tapping to the left and the right of the paddles sometimes doesn't work. Ruins the fun :(.Version: 1.5

Extremely draining on the batteryFun and pretty game. You don’t really need the power ups to complete it, lots of trial and error. My huge issue is the drain on the battery. Approx 10% per 5 min of play. And that’s on an iPhone 6s..Version: 1.5.1

Unenjoyable and clumsyIssues with the controls, left hand side lags constantly and no matter where I press it doesn’t seem to rectify the problem. This could be a bit more exciting too, I was captured by the design but the levels are unimaginative. Would be happy to pay for it if it actually worked, but definitely not worth the £2.99 regardless..Version: 1.5.6

Good gameIs definitely a great game but does get me a little frustrated and angry at times. The only thing I have against it is that you can get better quality games for free..Version: 1.5.3

UnresponsiveSurprisingly unresponsive controls for a game of this nature. Looks the part but plays poorly..Version: 1.5.6

So close to amazingI’ve really enjoyed playing inks. It’s a great little game with a simple but addictive concept. Unfortunately, it has a major flaw: touch detection. I can’t count the number of times I’ve lost a pinball because the flippers haven’t responded to my touch. If it happened less frequently, I’d be willing to write it off as my failing to tap when I thought I had, but this is a frequent enough issue where I know it’s not my doing- it’s the game not detecting my taps. If this could be fixed I’d happily give the game a 5, but until then it’s a fun quick game with a really annoying flaw..Version: 1.5.3

Not sure what I was expecting...Now, don't get me wrong, it's a nice game but it's lacking. Now, I may be somewhat tired of same formula where you "do this so-so times to get max points" but I also feel that this game lacks something else. Not like I was hoping for it but the mechanics would had been amazing to see in a more pinball styled game that took you somewhere as you played, leaving lines of color and wonder as you continued through pre-rendered levels that make up each chapter. The game might had been shorter but the impact would had been much greater. I might be envisioning something bigger or grander but that's just it, pinball has already reached such heights of expectation that I feel this game is lack luster. Each level is either short or irritating (and poorly designed if trying to be a 1-shot challenge) that it feels like you either chose to just try and enjoy playing a level or try to get a gold star. Some are easy, some are impossible, and some just aren't worth it. What's the point of having the ball paint lines if your goal is to have few if not none to see in the end? The game is great in terms of design but lacks what makes angry birds or cut the rope as fun as they were. Inks is bland, lacks impact, and is downright forgettable. Glad it got the good reviews but I'll be honest, I'm let down and happy I didn't have to pay for this....Version: 1.5.1

Not optimized for iPhone XScreen is distorted (zoomed-in incorrectly) on iPhone X. I guess it’s not properly optimized..Version: 1.5.1

Becomes unplayableThere are quite a lot of levels that need pixel perfect accuracy. Occasionally crashes. Fun when it works though.Version: 1.5

Buggy as all hellSuper fun game, but the flipper physics can be pretty weird and off (almost like the game can’t keep up with the ball’s position sometimes to correctly send the ball in a normal direction). Not only that, but the game takes up a *ton* of resources on my phone and causes it to overheat (both software and hardware) and lag super bad (framerate gets cut in half). Seems like a really odd bug to have, considering it *shouldn’t* be a such a resource hog. Y’all need to figure out what’s going on before my friggin phone explodes in my hand, and I’m not even on a Samsung Note 7!.Version: 1.5.1

Good idea but....The execution leaves a lot to be desired, when using the flippers kept on bringing up the apple menu thingy....Version: 1.5

Unresponsive flipperThe game is great but the right flipper is very unresponsive and it makes the game pretty unfair to play..Version: 1.5.6

BoringA different take on pinball, but...yawn..Version: 1.5.6

UnplayableLong-standing bug unaddressed by the devs makes the paddles unresponsive, please fix!.Version: 1.5.6

Better pinball games out thereNot sure why it is so highly rated. tons of levels but all seem similar. and not sure what the artsy ink trail adds to the experience..Version: 1.5.3

ControlsFun unique game. But on my iPhone 8, if I tap too close to the left edge of the screen it doesn’t register the left flipper properly. There is a little delay. I have to make sure I don’t tap too close to the edge. Only on the left though, right side works fine. I see that Inks+ got an update a year ago that claims to fix this….. is the regular Inks all abandoned?.Version: 1.5.6

DumbI downloaded this game because it was the free app of the week. But I'm surprised they felt okay charging for this. The graphics are nice, yes. But the game itself is dumb... probably because it doesn't act like a real game. It's so simple and pointless that you think there must be more to it. But there is zero information like instructions or a description of how the "game" works. I played longer than I wanted to because I assumed something would reveal itself to actually make this a game. So far, nada—so this is about to be deleted..Version: 1.5
