✓ BadJust to describe a scenario. Need to take a piece back into the board, only 2 and 6 are covered from the other player so anything other than 2 and 6 will put my piece back into the game. The dice showed 2 and 6 twice. 1/36 x 1/36 chances. At the end of the game the other player got 4 5s then 4 2s and 4 4s to win by two. Plus other 4s during the game. Happens all the time. Like what other players are saying not random and not fair so waste of time. Only worth playing if you want to see a situation like the one i described to laugh because of how ridiculous it is..Version: 4.45

✓ Not a good game for people with short temperNothing new to say here, I’m sure you have all read the countless reviews on dice algorithms. The game developers promise this is randomized but there’s an odd pattern to it that makes it look purposely done. If the 1 and 6 spots are blocked at the opposing players side I promise you’ll roll a 6 1 and be stuck there. This can’t be random. For people who play this in real life they know exactly what random dice combos look like. This game will give a player 3-4 doubles in a row. Statistically if you take 2 dice throw it the odds of rolling doubles a SINGLE time is 16.6%.... the fact that some people get it 3 or 4 times in a row is not impossible but statistically not probably at all. That’s a 1 in 1296 occurrence and you can look this up. I’ve played about 600 games on the app and this has happened multiple times so developers please realize that when we say it’s not randomized we don’t mean you guys rig the games but the algorithm for the dice are extremely unrealistic and you should find the proper solution. I know I’m gonna get a message saying “ we can assure you we use the best dice algorithm blah blah blah”. I know you guys tried but please look for a better way of doing this because it ruins the game..Version: 3.86
✓ PredictableI’d have to agree with ‘Rigged Rip Off’ review. At risk of sounding like a disgruntled loser, I feel the need to mention the obvious. There’s nothing random about the roll of these dice. As with most dice games there’s a certain amount of luck involved and despite having a good grasp of the game, skill doesn’t count. It’s pretty predictable just when you have yourself set to take out your opponent and there’s only one specific combination of two numbers that will see your opponent escape, those two numbers will magically appear. This happens for and against. The algorithm is never more clearly visible than when leaving your base no, 5 uncovered. 9 times out of 10 your opponent will roll a five. A tad predictable and I can’t help but wonder if I paid to play would the odds be stacked more in my favour. I accept that it’s rigged to make money for its developers and use it to practice for real 1:1 games with friends on my board..Version: 5.22

The comments about fixing are nonsense, a good player will always seem to have better luck because they think about probabilities several moves ahead so they always appear to get the roll they need. ✓ Was good - now not so muchI enjoy playing this app. Yes of course there are loads of ads but that’s how it works and they are at least confined to the end of each game. However, there is a ‘reward scheme’ throughout where the player gains ‘packs’ for the Album. Over the last four days this is constantly going wrong. I have ‘earned’ two packs, they show up as waiting to be redeemed and then when I click on the album to do so it instantly changes to 1 pack. Update - the issue has been fixed ! ✓ This app is perfect...... if you want to understand how to thoroughly erode customer trust. Backgammon with strangers is inherently high in variance. In every free space, and in every free moment, this app asks you to spend money on the coins used to play. The way the game is set up, when you lose, you lose 100% of your stakes, but when you win, you only win 85% of the pot. That doesn’t seem so bad, reading it, until you break it down. To essentially break even, you have to win 3 games for every 2 you lose. Which means you can’t gain any ground unless you are winning considerably more than you lose. But as mentioned, there’s a lot of variance built into the game already. So, when you lose a game in an app that that captures every moment to pry a purchase out of you, it’s not much of a leap in logic to question if you’re in fact playing real people, or playing bots designed to regularly beat you in somewhat believable fashion. There’s no way for the user to know what’s going on, and the developers have made it abundantly clear that the only thing that matters is your in-app purchases. The app is fun, mostly because backgammon is fun. The app is good for playing with friends remotely. The app is poor for playing against strangers..Version: 3.71

✓ Agree with canemint23I love playing backgammon and understand the game and the 5 basic strategies. Counting the pip score as we play, no problem, live or on line. However I do agree the dice rolling algorithm is a bit off. If one could count on multiple doubles with such frequency in real life I would go to Vegas and walk out with fat stacks. I also notice that quite often, especially against the person who has a higher pip score while in their home board (which is not a good thing, for those who dont play a lot) the opposing player will roll multiple doubles making it mathematically impossible to win. ✓ Horrible Doubles and knocking players odds!!I am a backgammon enthusiast, and this is one of the better backgammon apps I’ve played. But, it never fails as soon as I get in a ring tournament or a game costing $1500 or more, I’m consistently getting out rolled on doubles on a 7:1 ratio. Every time I leave a chip open I’m hit every time, I’ve played multiple games where my opponent has 3-6 open chips for multiple turns and I can’t roll anything to hit them. My other complaint is also in ring tournaments, I am in the lead taking pieces of the board in my last 3 $1500 Fifth Ave ring tournament and my opponent rolls 2 double 6s and I start rolling 1s and 2s for multiple turns. If these issues happened once and a while I would be fine, but it has now happened to me in my last 12 ring tournaments. Please fix this bug..Version: 4.67

However, the constant barrage of ads at the start of each session gets rather tedious. I’d rather have a paid version and just be able to get on with the game. Of course it’s not rigged - it would be commercial suicide for the developers to be caught cheating. Any game as popular as this is bound to generate some unusual sessions. ✓ Classic In Modern TimesBackgammon is such a good strategic game, that is simple to understand and great fun to play. Yes you need a bit of luck with the roll of the dice but with a bit of clever thinking and some tactical play, you have some good competitive games. I currently play against my 17yr old daughter every evening on the App but when she visits we play on a real board. Yes the amount of ads that Lee popping up are a little on the annoying side, but that’s all part of business from app designers, they need them to make money - simple business.
