Nanit for Negative User Reviews

Issues since latest updateSince the last update of the app the audio does not work consistently. Whether or not the background audio is on or if I’m physically in the app or have it open in the background I can’t always hear my baby. This has proven to be extremely frustrating as there are times my baby is crying and I don’t know as the audio is not working. I’ve deleted the application and redownloaded with no success. I also had no issues prior to the update done a few weeks ago. Very awful glitch.Version: 3.11.22

Rubbish for the priceFor the price tag of this camera, it has so many issues. It’s constantly needing to be reconnected with no easy trouble shooting. I wouldn’t recommend this camera or app to anyone. The ‘smart features’ are also useless..Version: 3.2.3

Good App and product but RIP-OFF subscriptionI bought the camera for my first child, it was expensive but the feature at the time made it worth it after a few months they decided to charge for the features and insights which sort of made it mandatory to purchase if you want to continue to use the camera for the features you bought it for in the first place. Nothing is worth the safety of our child and by then we have gotten used to the system. However, we recently had our second child. So naturally, I thought me purchasing the same brand of camera would make sense since I was already paying for a subscription, little did I know, the subscription doesn’t cover a second camera, even if I upgrade, I still have to buy a full other subscription for the new camera IN THE SAME account for the SAME HOUSE. I feel like I was fooled by this company. It’s already very expensive and to charge a separate amount per camera is pure greed and bad business. I won’t recommend it to anyone. All other security camera brands charge a one fee for unlimited camera or have a very high cap. This is just ridiculous. RIP-OFF is an understatement.Version: 3.9.23

SlowI find the app VERY slow to load up activity or open the camera when toggling between things. This is really frustrating when trying to quickly access your monitor or review time stamps for nap tracking when wrangling a child. I love the camera and overall quality but the app kills it for me.Version: 3.11.15

Permanent text over my video feed asking me to upgrade to $179 per year subsrciptionThis was the last straw. Was already sick of being shown ads on what feels like a weekly basis to upgrade, not there’s permanent text over my child’s video feed asking me to upgrade. The hardware is not cheap, and there’s no reasonably priced subscription if you wanted to support the company with a reasonable amount (say $5 per month). Worried that the company is financially unstable if they’re getting this desperate for new subscriptions. Since they run everything through a cloud service, their expensive hardware will be useless if they go under. I’ve recommended Nanit to at least 6 friends, won’t be recommending this anymore. Also, no Homekit integration. Seriously, it has a camera, light, thermometer, and it can detect motion but none of that is accessible through Homekit. Some developers in the Homeassistant community have got it working but I don’t have the technical understanding to make that work, but at least it proves it’s possible. There’d be so many useful integrations you could set up, and I hate having to use their slow app when checking on my house before I go to bed..Version: 3.11.7

Recent issues with AppDon’t know what happened but Screenshot stopped working (black screen) and sound monitor doesn’t work when phone is locked..Version: 3.11.16

Update very buggyI absolutely LOVED nanit and recommended it to all my friends... It worked amazingly - anytime, anywhere. But since this last update with picture in picture, I haven't been able to see the screen as it's constantly loading and saying "getting video stream" nor hear any sound. With the app open on the screen, my baby would be crying but I can't see nor hear anything from the app yet can hear her crying from a different room. Nanit seriously needs to get it together. It's an expensive app that's worth it when it works..Version: 3.9.1

Great for first year then RIDICULOUSLY expensiveGreat year one but ridiculously expensive from then on. Do not recommend buying this product!.Version: 3.4.5

Good app but keep moving the paywall goal posts. We bought the Nanit plus with the free one year subscription, at first we loved all the features and the videos with memories it made for us. What was especially useful was a timer of how long they had been asleep so we could keep them to a good routine. With each update these features we loved were slowly being migrated to the premium subscription package. It’s an expensive unit for what it is with similar units being half the price but it’s software features got us over the line, those being gone wish we had never bought it. We never used any of the breathing functions because they don’t allow you to wrap or swaddle them..Version: 3.4.4

Nanit Insights stops workingThe Nanit app overall works well but the Nanit Insights stops working for over 24 hours at a time. This is quite disappointing considering the amount you have to pay for the Nanit itself as well as the Insights subscription. The Insights have not been working since yesterday (over 24 hours now), and this happens every now and then..Version: 2.3.4

Sound cuts out sometimesI’ve been having a repeated issue where without touching anything the background audio turns off. This evening the app was even open and in night mode, went to bed with the sound on and working, but no sound a few hours later. Really upset with this issue and hope it gets addressed soon..Version: 3.11.19

Generally pretty greatWe’ve been using Nanit with our son for a couple of months now - it’s pretty great. We tend to have the video feed up on an iPad and this works well - means we can properly keep an eye on him while we’re next door. A couple of things worth bearing in mind if you’re considering whether to get a Nanit: 1. Breathing wear isn’t brilliant. We’ve used it a few times and got a few false alarms - we opted to use the Owlet smart sock instead. It’s great. 2. The camera makes a really loud clicking noise when it switches between normal and night vision. The click is loud enough to wake and startle a baby - it’s a pretty serious design flaw. We now keep the Nanit permanently in night vision mode to avoid the click. 3. There are basic iOS features missing which Nanit could and should incorporate - being able to have the video as ‘picture in picture’ for example. It’s a pretty good baby monitor and we’re fairly happy - but we’d be way happier if Nanit fixed these issues..Version: 3.4.7

2 factor idHi Nanit. i do NOT want two factor id. Please provide an option not to use. Thanks..Version: 3.9.15

Nanit - “troubleshoot me in the face”Do you wish you had more to argue about with your partner? Do you want to be spending less time with your newborn and more time battling with tech support? Do you just generally feel that you need significantly more frustration in your life? If you answered yes to any of these questions, we have the product for you!! NANIT! Features include: • occasionally connecting and disconnecting from the internet whenever it feels like. • consistently lagging like you’re playing Halo on dial-up in 2006. • tech support that pretty much has zero understanding of the product and a general perversion for inflicting maximum pain while stringing you along with a little hope. • ridiculously expensive, so expensive in fact that you would assume that it must be the best one for your baby. But that’s where they get ya!! So if you’re wishing you could pay as much as humanly possible for a baby monitor that doesn’t even work as a paper weight, you have come to the right place!! Nanit - where dreams come to die..Version: 2.2.10

Connection issues are spoiling a great productIn the last day of two we’ve had frustrating interruptions to the video. Once in the middle of our baby getting to sleep during sleep training, the app completely disconnecting, turning off the white noise and asked us to ‘repair’ which was impossible because we didn’t want to go in the room and disrupt her. I love the product and the technology, but these issues are extremely stressful to us and our baby..Version: 2.2.2

200 dollars to use a 700 dollar cameraSeriously? What a joke this is. You can’t even provide a monthly option for people? Literally go f yourselves..Version: 3.11.14

Don’t upgrade the appI paid $250 (I’m in Canada) to upgrade to the premium app upgrade (insane they don’t give you a free trial based on how expensive the devise itself is), and the app has been nothing but unreliable. It’s constantly confusing bedtime and nap times, and missing chunks of sleep, so what use is the analytics if the data isn’t correct. After only a week, and multiple data errors, I reached out to customer support through multiple channels and have yet to receive a response. Save your money..Version: 3.11.19

Insights aren’t inclusive of breastfeeding moms, company is biased towards formula***This is a review of the app, not the camera, which is amazing.*** The app overall is pretty good. I have some connectivity issues but that’s due to my WiFi connection. What I dislike most about the app is the extremely expensive premium membership. The sleep data provides nothing that I don’t already know. I am well aware that my baby had a bad night because I was the one who was up with her. The “insights” provide no solutions for exclusively breastfed babies. I would love for nanit to tell me how I can measure how many ounces of milk my baby is eating when she’s latched at night and then tell my pediatrician why I need to reduce her feedings. There are other less expensive apps that provide actual sleep support with customized plans after logging 3 days of sleep data. I feel that this is the very least that nanit should be providing with their “premium” membership. I also think that the breathing wear is a huge scam. Do not buy unless you want to pay $100 extra to use it!!.Version: 3.3.5

Has great potentialWe love the idea of the nanit, and it’s so handy to see the moments that is captures, but unfortunately we have to use a separate baby monitor because the connection to the camera is poor; it works for about 5-10 seconds then reconnects (which takes another 2-3 seconds). In the early months of our baby’s life, we couldn’t rely on it. We have a fibre connection, regularly use remote conferencing software etc and don’t have any connection issues. We would love it if Nanit could resolve the connection issues, as it has great potential to be the best baby monitor!.Version: 3.5.2

The most unreliable app and smart device we ownIf you are considering buying this and are looking for a device to capture video moments and insights reliably you can forget Nanit. Don’t upgrade your subscription thinking it will solve this - it doesn’t. The fact that Nanit charge such a premium for this adds salt to the wound. Our entire experience with Nanit over 4 months has been opening the app to receive a message ‘video clip not available’. Don’t dare blame my internet connectivity either - all our other devices work flawlessly and I run a multimedia business from home - it’s not my infrastructure that’s the problem. DONT LISTEN TO THE YOUTUBE REVIEWS - they clearly haven’t used the Nanit enough to form an accurate opinion..Version: 3.10.3

Not worth it and getting worseYou can get all the functionality in a much cheaper option. The breathing and advanced monitor is really hit or miss if your kid doesn’t mind wearing the things. I’d suggest saving the money and getting a different brand at a more affordable price. We’ve also had this now for just over 1.5 years and the app has continually become worse and worse. Not connecting, freezing, and just an overall delay that new phones and reinstalled apps do not fix..Version: 3.11.22

EXPENSIVELove the monitor hate the subscription price for basic monitor requirements. You pay enough for the monitor I can’t believe you are expected to pay for basic monitor needs..Version: 3.11.1

Connectivity and cost 👎🏻Feeling pretty frustrated with the recent outages. I’ve had some issues here and there but it’s been getting worse and the time the whole app goes down has been getting longer. (Like 40+ min at a time, usually at night - VERY stressful). The camera, breathing wear and subscription are a real investment. (Especially, if you continuously have littles. Truly wish there was a cheaper lifetime subscription.) Of course I do what I can to make it work for us financially because the peace of mind knowing that my babies are safe and breathing is worth it, but not with outages like this. I’d give it 5 stars if there was reliability and a subscription option for parents who continuously have littles for years and years and bonus if there was a way to pause subscriptions. (Like for parents who have littles coming and going - foster parents etc.) I’d also like to add that as a parent caring for multiple littles at a time, it’s very frustrating that to access the features I bought the cameras for (ie breathing monitoring) that I have to pay PER camera, not per household. I loved loved this camera and use to recommend it but now I’m not so sure. I may have to look into other options for the future..Version: 3.10.2

Bit of a con after a yearAt the end of your first year you have to purchase another subscription. No problem, except you have to buy a year up front - no monthly payments and it’s not cheap. Weirdly - they mention nothing about the breathing monitoring needing a subscription, which for me is the key reason I have Nanit. So now you are forced to make the purchase as a surprise when you put your child down to sleep. No offer of a cheap pack just for breathing monitoring - but very peculiar it’s not mentioned at all as part of what insight pack you are purchasing. I believe that’s an embarrassing business approach and something Nanit should reconsider and has really knocked the company down in my estimations..Version: 3.8.6

Don’t get itI hate this monitor. It has stopped working several times throughout the night and has required very hard resets that require you to wake your baby up. Don’t buy it..Version: 2.3

Extortionate subscriptionThe camera itself is great, the app works well. Nothing to not like. But $180 for one year to be able to save a few videos and see what time they woke up ( which is never picked up correctly) is a joke. Bring some reasonable prices or different tiers to your subscription service.Version: 3.11.11

Constantly DisconnectingMy camera is constantly disconnecting and the only way to get it to actually work again is to unplug it and plug it in again, which requires me to walk into my baby’s room and wake her up every time, no matter how quiet I am. This constantly happens and I hate this camera for it..Version: 3.11.20

Crashes ConstantlyAfter the new update the app won’t even open. Immediately crashes. Terrible..Version: 3.11.18

Finally sorted 5GHz wifi issueThe latest update finally solved the 5GHz wifi issue with the ability to force the camera to connect to a 2.4GHz band. It's taken 6 months. The app suggests it's better on 2.4... no, it's completely unusable on anything else and really poor of a device in this day and age. The problem pairing to wifi for first time still exists though, takes about 10 retries before it finally pairs despite standing next to Nanit and phone showing 75Mb Internet connection. On the plus side once all connected it works well, good insights and decent camera. The problem is you have to use the unwieldy floor stand if you want to get insights and can't buy the new wall mount on its own which is really frustrating for early adopters. Why?!.Version: 1.4.5

The app is junkThis version of the app is a piece of junk. It doesn’t connect to the camera for either of my kids, no matter what trouble shooting steps I follow. Earlier versions of the app work fine on my other devices..Version: 3.11.22

Low grade technology with slick marketingHonestly the hardware is rubbish. It took buying a $15 Xiaomi camera to realise that baby monitors cameras don’t need to be blurry and fuzzy, they can be crystal clear in light and dark. And baby monitor microphones don’t need to produce a loud background noise constantly, they can be whisper silent except for the actual noises you want. And you don’t need to pay a giant subscription for access to activity and “insights”, the cheap brands give you replay and timestamped motion/noise for free. I wish it hadn’t taken me years to work this out. Nanit is overpriced over-marketed rubbish basically..Version: 3.11.16

Not worth it allIt has been such a pain dealing with this camera. It frequently disconnects and makes you set it up from the start way too often. It’s such a waste of money, I don’t understand why it’s so expensive if it’s not even gonna work properly. They are constantly out here blaming our wifi settings when the real issue lies with their camera. What a scam..Version: 3.11.16

Been using Nanit since 2018. No major improvements, just more gimmicks. It was good. Then it got outdated. Not spending enough effort on UX. Why can’t you put the night light button on a widget? Why can’t I see a video feed on apple watch?.Version: 3.3.5

Awesome... when it worksThis app/camera has so many amazing features which convinced me to make the splurge. When it’s working, it’s great (insights cost extra though). Our app/camera cut out several times a day (without any warning on the app to alert you to the fact that you can’t see/hear your baby, which would be helpful in the middle of the night especially). I have woken up to distant cries from my baby despite having this monitor beside me, which has disconnected for no apparent reason. If you reach out to CS they will likely blame your internet connection and dismiss you. I have been an advocate for nanit for 2.5 years when I purchased our first camera, which worked great. This new one has been nothing but issues and has caused me tons of stress in the middle of the night when I can’t see my baby. Resetting/updating the app has never helped either. I do not recommend it, there are much more feasible options out there that are more reliable and safer for monitoring your child..Version: 2.5.3

Good but overratedHaven’t used any of the high technology features yet, just using it for the basic functions which other much cheaper monitors do anyways. Frustrating it doesn’t come with a screen. Burns through your phone battery with the live stream which is frustrating and the app doesn’t work on mac laptops, so you need to have or buy an iPad if you want a live feed and not use your phone battery so it lasts the day. Shame you can’t buy a cheap (screen) monitor to go with it. Buying another cheaper monitor would be cheaper than buying an iPad, but then makes Nanit redundant. Also Our internet went down for a few hours the other night which also left us without it working….Version: 3.6.6

High price but not high qualityWe “upgraded” to Nanit just over 2 months ago but would advise against anyone else doing the same. We had reliability issues with our old system (Arlo Baby) and decided we required reliability for our daughter’s safety. We incorrectly assumed that the high end price point meant high end, reliable product. This week alone we have woken up 3 separate times in the night to discover the Nanit app on our dedicated monitor tablet displaying a message that the connection was lost and a big troubleshoot button. We have then tried both phones at the same time to find the same message and confirm it is an error on the camera’s part and not just the tablet. The “troubleshoot” button is not helpful as it essentially puts all the blame on you and your network, and offers no way to actually troubleshoot the Nanit camera. We are a household that relies on our internet connection for music/tv/movie/sports streaming as well as numerous smart home functions and as such we have a quality 120Mbps/10Mbps internet connection and a mesh network consisting of 2 high quality, well reviewed routers. I am quite capable and confident in the quality/speed of our home network. I frequently run speed tests all over our home and property to ensure the network is working at a level I expect. I can run a speed test on my iPhone 8 right beside the Nanit and achieve speeds of 100Mbps+ download and 10Mbps upload. I know the signal is strong at the location of the Nanit without a doubt. As well when I experience this issue I hop on to my router configuration app and can see the router confirming the Nanit is in fact connected to the router without issue and even verify the signal strength. Of course it also shows the Nanit at 0Kbps upload or download which tells me the Nanit absolutely has a connection to the internet but something is wrong on the camera’s end and preventing it from broadcasting. This camera is not priced affordably and is definitely on the high end of monitor pricing but we were comfortable spending that to protect our daughter. Unfortunately 2 months after spending a large amount of money on our second monitor in 9 months it appears we are going to need to go out and find a 3rd one. This time we will play it safe, buying a more budget friendly reliable old school non-internet requiring monitor and be confident it is reliable for us. There is no worse feeling than waking up at 5am to the sound of a silent monitor and having no idea how long our daughter has been on her own..Version: 2.0.4

Awful - not recommended.Don’t believe the hype. Drops out. AI is just wrong / misleading / can’t tell the difference between an awake baby and a sleeping one — so what’s the point?.Version: 3.9.29

Unstable camera connectionIt quite often has issues connecting to the camera. The purpose of this system is to provide piece of mind knowing that you can always see how your child is doing. Quite disappointing..Version: 3.11.11

Constant connectivity issues. Wouldn’t recommendWorked well for the first 6 or so months, but now gives constant headaches with the never ending interruptions (child is almost 13 months old now). It disconnects at least once a day, and sometimes at night, which makes you lose the Nanit insights and you miss when your child fell asleep and woke up. It’s gotten so consistently terrible that the camera has been plugged into a switch outlet with the switch near my child’s bedroom door so that I can reset it more easily when it loses connection. Pretty soon it’ll be connected to a smart switch so I don’t even have to leave the couch for a reset. How convenient! The poor connection issues are NOT coming from my end, and the trouble shooting guide is not helpful. My wifi is stellar, and none of my other devices and cameras have issues anywhere near as frequently as this. It hardly ever shifts to a local connection like it says it should when connection issues arise. The pros are that the picture quality is great, and I like that I can see her wake ups and when she falls asleep so that I can keep her on a good sleep schedule. It’s also convenient to be able to pull up the camera whenever and wherever (cellular or wifi).....but other than that, I would not recommend this product. The 5 star reviews confuse me. My child will soon be learning how to talk like a sailor with how many times I audibly curse about the camera. Thanks, Nanit!.Version: 3.0.6

Get the basics right before upsellingI’m not a fan of this device at all. Either the app or the camera constantly cuts out and needs resetting. It’s a serious problem when to do this, your baby gets disturbed. It means that a great feature, like the white noise becomes problematic and startles baby when trying to fix it. I’ve sought help so many times from Nanit support who suggest things like adding a wifi booster or moving the router into my baby’s room. I have strong wifi and a booster just next door - that’s not the issue and I shouldn’t have to rearrange my home in order to make something that is really expensive work to the basic level. Even more infuriating is that when this is happening, I’m being asked to spend £70-£100 a year to get more insights which by the looks of it, is them selling me clips that they’ve recorded of my child and are holding until I spend more stupid money with them. I hate it and it’s a waste of money.Version: 3.11.22

Good...most of the timeYou research a ton of cameras/breathing monitors for your child and you feel that you have finally made the right decision. You set it up at home and somehow you need both WiFi and Bluetooth...ok, seems excessive but hey “it’s for my child” so let’s do this. It works most of the time but constantly needs to buffer and sometimes says that he/she is moving around in the crib while your at the store (with your child) seems weird but ok. They say you can bring it with you to your in-laws and set it up with their WiFi but nope...you get constant errors and no camera so you are on your own. No camera, no breathing and no sleep because you have developed a dependency on the nanit. Very disappointed with the mobility of the system. I bought the extra stand to take with us on trips/outside the house and it is absolutely useless. We have resorted to a $50 baby monitor while we are not at home which is fine but due to the lack of breathing monitoring, my wife and don’t sleep as sound as we could. Too bad Nanit has to be so “complex” all the time that is can’t connect to a system via Bluetooth only or WiFi that is not on full gigablast..Version: 3.0.1

Amazing, when it works. The camera and features are amazing. Such peace of mind for when baby sleeping and really helped us a lot with nights especially during the first couple of months. However, every single day we have to restart the camera several times for it to actually work.. always says ‘trying to reconnect’ on our app which means we can’t start breathing monitoring or do anything really. It will often cut out during monitoring as well which really defeats the object. The troubleshooting guide in the app is of no help at all and just tells you to restart everything and reposition your router. Other devices in our home stay connected to wifi no problem so really can’t work out why this struggles so much but it’s incredibly frustrating.. ever.. single.. day...Version: 3.9.29

Will stop monitoring for semi-side or tummy sleepersNanit will disconnect and not reconnect, automatically. If my baby turns to his side, nanit won't be able to find the band until the baby moves again, which could be 10 minutes or longer. Sometimes it will time out and stop monitoring all-together, even though the band is in plain view. Nanit will also force updates, so if you happen to check on the baby multiple times a night, it may force an update, so you're baby will be without monitoring at 3 AM or whenever the forced update comes up. Likewise, Nanit can disconnect and will be off all night without ample warning, even when the band is in full view, and it cannot automatically reconnect by itself. This can be frustrating, especially if/when internet goes down and the "local" network doesn't work right, and when my child covers the band from the camera's view by raising his legs in his woolino sleep sack and the camera can't read anything and thinks the baby was taken from the crib so it turns off and monitoring cannot begin until someone manually begins it, again. Personally, I would only recommend nanit for children over a year who are less at risk for SIDs. For infants, I def feel much better using the Owlet, which monitors constantly and was for me, much more reliable than nanit..Version: 3.4.6

OverratedDecent but many flaws that they obviously don’t care about fixing The stand is too high, which means that the baby is too far away in the picture. And when you zoom in, the quality of the picture is bad The app is poorly designed in so many ways - the app allows you to add events (eg telling it that the baby woke up at a certain time) but not to delete automated events that are mistaken - and if often tells us the baby is awake when he’s not - video history function is so bad. I have a ring camera and their app is so much better, and it’s very easy to fast forward in the video history. For ring, the buffering is very annoying, and you can’t really fast forward while still looking at the video - really poorly designed. The video size is also very small while in history mode, which makes NO sense - insights are useless - and impossible to find where to use them in the app.Version: 3.7.1

Buggy, expensive, pushes adsFor such an expensive product I’m so beyond frustrated that the app is so buggy - the notifications for sound and movement are always delayed. It’s 50/50 if it actually connects. They have overloaded the app with ads for their premium services. Seriously…. Sensing a push notification to promote buying more services?! That’s ridiculous when we are sitting here as parents jumping at sound and motion notifications. Cannot and will not recommend Nanit to anyone. So so so disappointing.Version: 3.11.10

WHY IS THERE STILL NO PICTURE IN PICTUREThis is all over forums and has been for a year or so, not sure why Nanit still hasn’t put the PiP option in there..Version: 3.5

DisappointedI have been using this app for 2 years straight. Although the camera quality is accurate the app is dangerously slow / non responsive regardless the updates. I DO NOT recommend this app..Version: 3.8.3

Useless!!The app crashes all the time. I can’t trust this app to monitor my baby because it keeps crashing. I would not recommend this product as your primary baby monitor..Version: 3.9.12

UnreliableIt is disappointing how unreliable this expensive essential device is. We have tried many times to reboot, reconnect, we even unplugged it for 24hours (I had to sleep in the nursery for peace of mind) & it is day 3 now & it still does not work. Complete trash..Version: 2.3.1

If only the app workedGood camera and comprehensive set up instructions, thoughtful options for travel too. It’s unfortunate then that the app is damn buggy to use. The time lag is laughable, cries are heard though the monitor 4 seconds after they echo through the wall. Usually the app stops responding in the middle of a screaming fit, just when you definitely need it to work. Or the nightlight stops responding, just when you are ready to put little guy down. Or the unit needs to re-pair with your wireless network, just when want to check how he is settling during sleep training. A good camera let down by inferior app..Version: 3.5.1

Love hate relationshipLet me start off by saying I have loved my Nanit. Yes it glitches and tells me it loses connection with the camera but I can get past that because I have loved the monitor for the year we have had it and LOVED the breathing monitoring. Where I am frustrated is with the breathing monitoring it is infuriating that if I buy the special accessories I don’t get access to the breathing monitoring with that but have to pay for the subscription to use the accessories I paid extra for. I can wrap my head around paying for the insights it’s different you don’t need to buy special equipment for it but if you buy the sleep sacks and swaddles you should have access to the breathing monitoring regardless. It just seems like double dipping when the camera alone is extremely expensive, the subscription is expensive, and so are the breathing wear. Honestly I would have kept buying the sleepwear after the subscription expired if the breathing monitoring still worked. Now I’m not going to buy the breathing wear (I will spend the extra money on Kyte sleep sacks) and won’t be renewing my subscription. It just feels like the company is being extremely greedy..Version: 3.11.11

Would not recommendI honestly hate this system. The main problem is that the app constantly goes into a buffer state. During the night I’m supposed to be able to rely on this app to ensure the safety of my baby but there have been a few times where she’s managed to get a blanket wrapped around her head, she’d be crying so bad, and I’d have no idea because the app was actually buffering during those instances. I have perfect wifi and service, the buffering is not due to being able to connect. I’ve restarted the internet to the Nanit many times and right after it would continue to buffer. The fact is on more than one occasion I could have lost my baby due to this apps buffering. Sometimes when you have the noise on background mode, it’ll just cut off for no reason. My solution to that is I must sleep with my phone on and on the app just to make sure I won’t miss the sound cut off. Not only does that ruin my phone over time but it also affects my sleep since I have a bright screen in my face all night. Along with the buffering the video and audio stream also lags. It has lagged as long as up to 2 mins and 42 seconds before. Which as parents we all know that’s more than enough time for anything to happen..Version: 3.9

Okay featuresDetections are a bit of a hit and miss. Insights requires a subscription, but be aware they don’t warn you for upcoming charges like pretty much all other subscription services do..Version: 3.1.3

Not greatIt would probably be 3 or 4 starts at least if they didn’t completely make most features useless without subscription. When I think of insights I think of it tracking over time events during the night or nap times, and giving insight into patterns. Instead when you’re not paying and your free trial expires, it seems the notifications are worse and doesn’t track anything. The video quality on ours that is now almost a year and a half old isn’t great and pales in comparison to Eufy 2k camera (not baby camera). It does have white noise, but we still use Hatch, and the talk back feature is fairly pitiful, compared to the Eufy. While it’s nice having the Wi-Fi baby camera when one of us is away we can still see our child sleeping, but when we traveled it struggled terribly to connect to other Wi-Fi networks. I think we would’ve been better with a dumb system and our normal pan-tilt Wi-Fi camera. I’ll also really dislike the new Santa hat on the app for winter, not all of those that use the app celebrate Christmas, and it just feels very unnecessary. Put a snowflake, or snowman. The Santa hat is religious iconography..Version: 3.9.2

Great camera but sleep app overratedThe camera with Nanit is amazing with infrared so can clearly see baby on your phone no matter how dark it is. Nightlight and sounds helpful though doesn’t include womb sounds so we mainly rely on the white noise. I wish the sleep app worked more like FitBit for adults where you can see how your babies sleep compares over the course of a year rather than a week with the paid subscription or 2 days without. The sleep insights and inbox messages are also incredibly basic and definitely not as personalised as I’d expected so these could be improved. Part of the reason we bought the Nanit other than for the great camera is we thought it used personalised AI tips a bit like a baby sleep counsellor / nanny but it’s nowhere near that smart unfortunately..Version: 3.2.7

Stop advertising in the appI love the Nanit camera but the constant advertising pop ups in the app drive me nuts..Version: 3.3.5

Not worth the extra moneyThis camera is great for the first few months, then all of a sudden you have to purchase a $159.99 plan to continue seeing your child’s sleep patterns. This is a new feature though as we purchased a nanit camera for our 2.5 year old daughter and can still see her sleep patterns since day 1 with her camera without ever having to purchase a plan. So the new camera we have for our infant son doesn’t do what it promises to when purchased unless you start paying monthly. So not as advertised and not worth the extra cost when it’s the exact same as every other video monitor once requiring you to pay $159.99 more. Ridiculous.Version: 3.2.6

Don’t waste your money!!Firstly, $160 odd dollars A YEAR for the sleep analytics after the initial year is ridiculous - you pay a lot for this camera and the breathing wear etc. I don’t need all the tips and advice, but being able to see how long my kid slept and how long they were awake for was useful. I can’t believe you can’t still see it for at least the 12 hours prior. Also there have been numerous times the camera goes down and nothing works. Only would wake once I FINALLY heard my daughter from the other room after who knows how long. If I could go back i wouldn’t buy this product. I’d buy another more reasonably priced video monitor..Version: 3.2.1

Recent Money Grab…So my wife and I have been absolutely loving using the Nanit app…it’s easy to use, super functional and has always given us peace of mind. However, within the app there is an extension called “Activity” where it shows you everything from how long your baby has been asleep to sounds/movement detected. This feature has been free for the first year we have had the Nanit camera and app. Well within the past day we have been quite disappointed to learn that option has been moved to a monthly fee of $10 and up and has even stopped providing the update of how long our baby has been sleeping on the main live feed. Although this feature is really more so a convenience than anything(which is why we will not be paying for it), it is still extremely disappointing to see Nanit do this as the camera itself is already quite expensive and now they are trying to make us pay $10 a month for a feature that has been free all along. A feature that really isn’t necessary nor imperative to how the camera works. Overall I’m a little disappointed over the sell out and hope no one else pays for the subscription, because again, it really is not necessary to have it..Version: 3.9.27

Not worth the money for his cameraThe more things this company seems to introduce to their tech line up, the less the camera seems to work. First it was the breathing bands. Then the “memories” tab. Now with the “smart sheets”. Honestly, I just wanted a working camera that I could use with my smartphone, and what a mistake it was going with Nanit. The audio constantly cuts out, which with the background noise that plays in my child’s room, the cuts wake me up more in the night than my own child. The video is always behind, often does a circle/square spinning thing trying to catch up... which it doesn’t. Don’t even get my started on the amount of times Nanit has tried to pass the blame to my internet provider...I have gigabit internet. They also claim to work with just wifi, so with a home network, the camera should be reliable and it isn’t. It also seems like every time they do an update, we have to go through a whole series of events to get the camera connected again. Reset camera. Reset modem. Reconnect camera to wifi. Also, can we talk about the insane blinking strobe light you chose to put on the top of the camera that blinks when it has to be reset? I’m sorry, but when I have to reset the camera at 11pm, 1am,4am... and I’m trying NOT to wake my baby...who’s brilliant idea was it to have a white light blink in a dark room? As you can see, I am really not happy with this camera, and hope to save others from the headache that I’ve experienced..Version: 3.0.5

Cash grab once your year of insights runs outA very simplistic device without the insights. Hardware is not that stable for wifi connection either. After spending $800 and owning a year, now they’re asking for minimum $180 to get simplistic functionality despite advertising insights for as little as $5 a month all over their website..Version: 3.1.5

Would be 5 stars, but we’ve had some issues. We bought our Nanit since our neighbors have one. They raveeee about it. Ours worked for a little and then couldn’t stream or connect? So we had customer support send us a new one. But it took some work... mean while we were without a monitor. (Talk about an anxious mama). Few weeks ago we had issues with our new one. Which is only a few moths old. We couldn’t get it to connect to our phones after it had been working just fine. Went through all the steps over and over and it finally worked. Mind you, we had to do this all in our littles room since he was sleeping. So not was I mad but I had to be super quiet and obviously the monitor is above his bed. We ended up having to use the travel stand which is not directly above him. With our daughter we had a standard monitor, which of course didn’t have as good of a quality picture but we never had connectivity issues when she was sleeping. And I never had to try and diagnose the issue fearing of having to go to bed without the motion on. Other than that, it’s great. It’s super frustrating when it stops working. For something so expensive we shouldn’t be having issues..Version: 3.1

Firmware issuesEverything was working great for the last 8 months until the camera firmware updated a couple of days ago. Since the white noise wont turn on and will have to repair or restart the camera before each use, also now only gives local view only with devices on the same wifi network (wont work if im away from home). Ive emailed support and still havent heard from anyone..Version: 3.0
