✓ “Wanna Dominate? Buy Premium!”Honestly....super fun game and I love the strategy of this game. The title of my post gives it away though because this is an in game post. This game has become a pay to play game in which you will never be competitive unless you spend $20,$30,$50, or $100 to buy equipment to make your character have any chance of winning. The developers have killed the strategy and the fairness out of it to make more money. Which honestly I get wanting to make more money but ads are already included in the game and I wouldn’t mind more if it meant it kept the game fair. Sadly after a long time with this app I have decided to delete it because it is no longer fun when you have zero chance of victory against a lesser opponent because you don’t spend $20 to compete. ✓ Disgrace to original MWThe original Mushroom Wars was one of the best mobile games ever, and one of the few that wasn’t a microtransaction nightmare. I paid for premium on the original abd was happy to support the developpers in doing so, because the game was focused on the game, not on baiting you into microtransactions. This game, on the other hand, is a pathetic disgrace. While fun, in the end it is just a factory that produces micro-transaction bait. If skills were universally available, it would be okay—but they arent. You can use your skills a limited number of times before you have to spend whichever of the many in-game currencies it is to make them available again. You are also matched with more advanced players using characters you havent unlocked yet (so you havent developped a stratefy foe how to defend against their skills yet) when it’s most likely to lead you to making a micro-transaction. It’s not that it isnt possible to win and have fun without paying, it’s that every single aspect of this game is carefully orchestrated to temp you to pay..ManWithTheYellowHatVersion: 4.7.5

✓ I used to really love this gameThis game used to be my favorite game I would play it all the time waiting for class or just hanging around the house whatever it may be and it would have gotten 6/5 stars, but now I’ve been playing for I want to say about 2 years now and I’ve watched this game slowly become more of a pay to play game. Now I play against players that have purchased chests or season passes which allow them to collect artifacts that give their character bonuses on the battle field, also giving them more runes (a gem type of currency used to upgrade) which gives players faster movement speeds better attack and defense bonuses and it’s become out of reach to play against these players I have spent about $20 to try to keep myself in the game and collect some of these artifacts to improve my characters but I have only gotten the most common and weakest so when I play someone who’s clearly purchased more items then I have I can only beat them if they don’t use any of there abilities and I feel like it’s become a bit unfair. I used to have a 87% win ratio overall and since this I’ve dropped to around 63% and it continues to become more difficult without even advancing into a new bracket. So if you have extra change then I recommend this game but if u are searching for a fair platform this is not it. ✓ What is going on?Broken, unbalanced multiplayer, horrible development choices. This game has major, major balancing issues. Far too many to even begin to list. Character development was already a joke, and now the developer has made character development even more tedious to address some major issue they found? What about all of the actual major issues that make this game a complete exercise in frustration? I simply don’t understand. Edit: multiplayer is in a constant state of change for the sake of change. When there aren’t consistent rules for measurement, how can you possibly develop any coherent strategy? It’s absolutely ridiculous. Most players already have a well below 50% win ratio. Can’t even progress past 5 campaign games without it asking for money to buy the rest of the campaign, what??? Also in multiplayer, in order to use your abilities you have to have gems, you could use all of your abilities in one game and you’re out of gems for 8 hours. You can play multiplayer without your abilities and gems but you would more than likely lose to a skilled opponent. They have watch an ad option for everything as well, either way if you don’t want to pay and just watch ads all day, they’re still making money off of you watching ads for them, it’s just ridiculous. This needs to be fixed ASAP, the PC version of this game is nowhere as money hungry as the iOS version, on pc your abilities just have a cool down in game and you can constantly use them without having to refill gems. ✓ Pay to playI’ve been a big fan of MW since the first app came out and for a while I loved this one too. But not it’s impossible to win against people online if they pay the subscription. They have a ton of power up and everything that you don’t have. So in the middle of playing they can slash your numbers or take over multiple mushrooms with a touch of a button. I use to win every couple games now I leave as soon as they start using power ups. No point. If you want to play single player mode you have to pay after a certain number is completed which is crazy since you do the same thing on every episode. You also have to wait to open chest and I find it impossible to get the red rubies. All over feels like I’ve come to a dead end. The subscription is no-weekly which is ridiculous. I would be much more interested if they changed it to pay for the app instead of subscription. Maybe subscription could pay for some bonus content that doesn’t make online game play so unfair. Now, in addition, they reduce your rank automatically every month and it’s tremendously exacerbated the matching issue. Don’t bother emailing Zillion because you won’t get a satisfying response. Why would you when it’s clear their sole intention is to create more reason for you to buy more upgrades. Some people just don’t get that a happy customer is a good customer, and often translates into a paying customer. ✓ Massive let down, pay to win aspect has completely ruined multiplayer.Been a massive fan of this game for years, downloaded the app to play after not using it for a long time and I couldn’t regain my progress so started from scratch, didn’t mind this at first as I love the game. Turns out starting from scratch is the worst thing you can do as you are completely useless against the new weapons (which you buy), the better heroes (which you buy) and the permanent passive skill tree (which you can also buy). After restarting the game and playing it for a few weeks I’ve decided to give up as it will take months or years to be close to competitive, this is because I’m deciding not to spend £100 at a time to upgrade some characters. This is unbelievably disappointing because the game itself is really good and as I’ve said I have been a fan for years, but the current state is unplayable if you don’t have a good starting point with heroes and weapons etc. Honestly it baffles me how they can try and charge £100 for a mobile game character… it’s laughable. Some characters have a set of skills that are straight up unbeatable for other characters. This game will frustrate you. You will also be bombarded by in game purchases offers. One after every single match you play. It’s incredibly annoying. Especially since you have to buy the game. Had a response saying that sometimes players get matched against better players. ✓ Dev’s have got too greedyThe gameplay itself is seriously great, and I have played for several years and progressed to pro league and done all the available single player quests at hardest level. Until the last few months definitely 5 stars. What has killed it for me is that it has become impossible to get the stat upgrades and better gear (and therefore compete on a level field) unless you spend (a lot of) real money, which I won’t do on principle. I don’t mind grinding and slowly getting stuff others get immediately for cash, but no matter how long you grind or how many ads you watch you have no hope of gearing up. Seriously - ‘premium’ costs £7 a month and ‘golden pass’ costs £10 for a mushroom pass season (about 12 days)? And don’t even ask about the Runes (you have three types of unique in-game currencies plus short-lived ones that go with specific events, some you can buy with a lot of real money and others you cannot). ✓ An honest reviewThe game is Ight but the maths sometimes doesn’t work. Idk if it’s some kinda bug or what but the simple subtraction of 30 - 37 somehow has a remainder. The game would be really nice if they made the morale system more accurate on how it effects your units and put values to show how much morale you gain from each move you successfully complete. Honestly it’s an okay game, it’s just that the morale system makes it so your playing more on luck than on skill. Another feature that is annoying is the AI you have to vs after you lose an online match, though it may seem like a good idea to some, it really aggravates me when I can’t pick up immediately but instead have to play change pace to a somewhat obvious AI. Something like that destroys my will to play the game any longer and prevents me from o twining any satisfaction. Another issue is the crazy amount of money that you need to pay, I find it absolutely criminal to make players pay for the campaign. ✓ BugsThis game is really fun and I have enjoyed playing it. The game is well balanced so that there is enough strategy to it that it’s fun and interesting but not so much that it is overwhelming. So it keeps a simple fun aspect with strategy but leaves out the overwhelming issue of to many components that some games have. This biggest issue though is the bugs. But one big bug this game has is with the troop camps. They will sometimes randomly change into the other players. Then randomly add troops to it. So one minute u might have this camp that’s on your side then it changes to the other players and randomly jumps up to having 70 troops that the other player can control. Iv seen this issues for awhile now and I do not know why it would not be addressed. But when it comes to PVP on this game your in for a big shock! 8 times out of 10 you will be matched against players vastly superior to you with not even a slim chance of winning. It lets you play a few easy levels through the map to make you feel like a boss, and then tells you “The free part of the game has ended.” Don’t get me wrong, I like the game a lot. However, it’s still one of those games that give you the choice of devoting an ungodly amount of time and effort into making yourself strong, or spend a little money and make yourself over powered, that and after awhile you have to pay to even continue playing. I really hope a dev can hop on here and explain to me how I win like 8 matches in a row, only winning an accumulative of 12 trophies, but then I lose ONE match and lose 15 trophies? I played a pvp match against a random, and I lose 8 trophies and they gain 15. I jump into the next PvP and it’s the same person! What are the chances?! But then I won the second match. It kills me when I have to face a PvP with someone that has the special skins and the fully upgraded character. In one year, Zillion Whales has overcomercialized this game by adding the rune, ticket, and item systems that all rely heavily on in-app purchases to get ahead of your opponents. Instead of a being game dedicated to its player base, Zillion Whales has ignored our many voices and taken the game away from what it once was. Many of the top players have struggled with this change from skill to money as many of them have quit or turned to casual play. As the company focuses more and more on money, less time is spent to maintain the social aspect, which is often the last tether for someone about to quit, and the game’s fundamentals have been drastically changed by various upgrades and runes. If Zillion Whales is to keep falling to greed, then they will lose the most unique aspect of the game: the wildly dedicated players who grind out not only to improve their skills, but also to support the mushroom wars community and the various events. In one year I have seen so many people leave and struggle with Zillion Whales (as is my experience). At this rate, mushroom wars is becoming an example of an institution falling to its own selfishness and rejecting the humanity of its clients. We cannot wait another year. ✓ Was my favoriteI really enjoyed this game in the past but it has become pay to play. To have an edge you need to upgrade your base troops, to do this you need runes. To get runes you have to level up, to level up you need to upgrade the heroes, to upgrade the heroes you have to earn lots of gold and cards. It takes a long time to save to really upgrade your heroes. The average chest, that takes 3 hours to open, only gives 400 gold. The first time you upgrade a hero ability it’s 3,000 gold which only earns 90 XX to level up. This is crazy. Now the as you continue to upgrade your hero abilities it becomes more and more expensive. The only way to really advance in this game is to watch a crazy amount of adds as well as spend money on gems. A solution would be to add ways to level up that do not involve spending gold or gems. I’ve played over 2k matches this time around and less than 30 have been where I have a better shield than my opponent. The shield is what gives your characters all around upgrades. Our trophies are usually different by 50 points but don’t do anything to give any advantage and our player levels are also different. Sometimes by 10. My win rate is less than 40%. Not because all are better (some of my best competitors were less shield than me and destroyed me) but because they have a clear advantage. ✓ Game has 5 star potential but terrible AII originally gave this game 4 stars, but after playing more I’ve found the AI to be a complete hinderance to just enjoying the game. The computer knows INSTANTLY where your units are going and how many are being sent, this is evident because it will not send a single unit if it knows I haven’t sent enough to take the point. The moment the number of infantry I send exceeds the amount holding a point, it will send reinforcements. It’s infuriating, because this creates multiple loops during gameplay that are completely unenjoyable to manage. I need to send a small fake squad from a point to bait the computer, then once it’s answered with reinforcements, I need to change the focus of attack to another point, the computer will compensate, then I must pivot again, and again, and again. I’ve literally gotten the game stuck in a loop where they wont stop sending every single unit that spawns - only because it knows the numbers are in it’s favor. I clicked and sent every unit for about 2-3min until it had finally widdled down my numbers. It’s possible to have fun playing on expert because all you’re doing is basically memorizing what decisions the computer makes and exploiting that knowledge. Please fix your game, it’s not fun to play when the deck is so wildly stacked against you. ✓ Fun game but you will have to pay to compete in the higher leaguesThis is definitely a fun game to play and you can tell Zillion Wales put in a lot of time developing it. However, if you play regularly or want to get to the higher leagues, especially diamond or pro, then you will likely have to spend money to compete with the top players who spend a lot of money to upgrade their heroes. For forging artifacts, they will also not let you choose which artifact or hero you are forging the artifact for, but they can give you a artifact you already possess. The really powerful artifacts that all of the good players have also cost around 15,000 gems per artifact (it costs $50 to obtain 12,000 gems, which would not be enough for even one of those artifacts). Furthermore, even if you buy premium, you still have to watch several 30 second ads or use gems to open chests (usually paying for premium on any site or app gets rid of ads). Passive skills is another way they try to get you to spend money, as you can only upgrade passive skills with gold and runes. They say passive skills are permanent skills that every hero uses, so I think they should be determined by how many games you have played and/or won, not by how much gold you can spend. MW2 was the refresh the game needed and was so pleased when I first played it. I have paid quite a bit into the games over the years cuz I appreciated the development. But a few years ago, it became more than just pay for plays or little things here and there. It is literally “pay to be good”, which, fine, I’ll do that a little but this, along with the algorithm putting me against level 5s when I’m a 3 (and yet I still win quite often), is so freaking frustrating. For instance, when you are in team matches, when your teammate leaves, you don’t gain control of their units, they become blank, why? When your ally dies they still can use abilities, if they stay in the game, so when they leave, you should gain access to their abilities to remain in the game, because often times you have to forfeit a match if your partner exits in the middle of a match. There are characters who’s abilities really are basically repackaged identical abilities as others, and some abilities really they got lazy and had no creativity . To any prospective players who may read this, make no mistake, this game most certainly has pervasive pay to win mechanics. It would take an absolutely inordinate amount of time for a free to play user to reach a level where they could compete with players who pay real currency into the game. In many cases players can spend real life currency to purchase items that boost their characters ability that are not available to players who don’t wish to spend money on the game. Having to spend money to compete on a level playing field isn’t enjoyable, especially in a game that already utilizes a reward system that requires players to view advertisements in order to receive rewards. This is not a game where real currency only buys cosmetic items. Real currency will provide the player with a very real advantage against those who don’t. I’ve been playing for at least a year or two now, but very recently the pay-to-play features have gotten entirely out of hand. Yes they do give you a few plays for free at the beginning but then you have to spend your money to access more levels. And for each one out of 4 episodes you need to pay again. My original comment was I once loved this game, but the pay to win cost is nuts. To have all perks in this game would cost you thousands. In-app purchases are totally optional and you can upgrade your abilities and unlock new heroes without paying money though it may take time. Well, if you not paying for the new heroes that cost $199 EACH (there’s 4), the only way to do this is by passing 120 levelling points, at first you can pass quite few levels per win, then as your getting closer, it takes more wins to pass these levels. To pass those levelling points you get 50 tickets per win when playing that particular arena. To play in that arena it costs you 10 different tickets, you have to play in another arena to get these tickets, and you only get a few per win. ✓ Getting worseThis has been my favorite mobile game for 10+ years. I’ve been playing since mushroom wars 1 and played the odd mushroom wars: space and now mushroom wars 2. They used to make sure it was a great game with tight mechanics and some pay to play features that never really mattered much. I have every regular character maxed out with pretty good equipment on everyone. Now however they spam you 4-5 times with ridiculously priced ($99 apiece) new, far too powerful characters and legendary equipment. These characters and legendary equipment make the higher tiers very close to pay to play but many don’t actually pay so it’s not usually a big deal. Now however they seem to be pairing me up almost exclusively with players that have the legendary equipment and upgraded characters. I’m getting frustrated.
