✓ Less about the puzzles 😕It's ok. But disappointed in the quality of the puzzles. Most of them are way too easy. I felt like I was being fed the solutions and guided through the scenes way too much. This installment seems to be heavily weighted toward the story over game play, almost as if it were an afterthought that needed to be created to help the story along rather than the other way around. I like a little dose of weird and creepy with my puzzles... but first you need good puzzles..DrWilly81Version: 1.1.5

✓ Escape the room type game, eh.At the heart of this game is Escape the Room type puzzles. It’s probably the best of them if you like those games. I particularly don’t. It’s strong points are that it’s got a back drop macabre storyline where the story does move forward in the background as you proceed and while many of the puzzles are different than most and more interesting, it’s still ridden with click-fest mentality bordering on ridiculous room entities such as wood planks that slide up and down a window but aren’t removable but they slide freely as if they’re magically there. You also have puzzles where you need a combination and all you have to do is click some wall picture to get it. To me, that’s not a puzzle, it’s a click-fest. Some are more clever than that but the pattern is there. Escape fans will delight while old-time adventure gamers will turn their noses..NcadminVersion: 1.2

✓ Great game, too disturbing.I have no played all of the cube escape games so I thought i would give one of the paid games a try. i love puzzle games and the art style with these puzzles are always really cool. obviously, these games are meant to be creepy and mysterious. that aspect i have never had a problem with. however, this game was just straight up disturbing and unnerving. the killing of kids, the cutting of body parts, the use of tarot cards and a ouija board was just a lot for me. call me soft but i’ve never been super disturbed by the cube escape games even though there have been dead bodies and dead fetuses in them. the puzzles were also super easy and i didn’t feel challenged as much..MurbabsVersion: 1.2

✓ Love the game... if I could only play it.I absolutely love this game. However, I can’t get into my “settings”, without the screen turning black and the app crashing. I can’t do anything, I.e let my screen go into sleep mode, look at another app, etc) without the game crashing. Once I start the game back up, it’s wiped clean. Last night I was at puzzle 24, I believe, pushed through the hours of the night to finish it (in fear of it losing all my save files).. only for it to randomly crash on its own and start me from the beginning.. all. Over. Again. If it would allow ppl to save their progress and not wipe it whenever it wants, I would give it 5 stars. ✓ Too disturbing to continue...I played many of the other games in this series and was very disappointed with this one. It took the macabre to a disturbing level and went way too far with the grizzly things it asked the player to do to complete a puzzle. As always the puzzles were clever and challenging but I ended up deleting the game a little over halfway through because it just became too disturbing. ✓ Good game but clunkyThe art and style of the game are excellent and in keeping with the rest of the series, but the gameplay itself was clunky and took away from the game. There are a few bugs which were irritating (you can get duplicate items occasionally and the gamescreen sometimes moves off the phonescreen). Also the use of a very curly cursive font can make it difficult to figure out which words/letters are needed for puzzles (eg vanderboom looks like vanderloom or vandenboom or vardenloom etc). Objects which can be dragged are not clearly noted which can be frustrating, same with the number inputs which have to be dragged and sometimes change or stop displaying randomly. ✓ Colorblind beware!Firstly, if you are colorblind (or even partially, like me) be warned that several of the puzzles depend on color matching to solve. But that not why I gave it such a low rating, I don’t expect the world to cater to me. I rated the game so low because several of the puzzles just flat don’t make sense. Even after resorting to watching the walkthrough for a couple of them,I was left scratching my head and thinking “ok, but it still doesn’t make sense...” The story is definitely... unique. I will give it that. All around, for the price I don’t feel like I wasted my money. However, I would not recommend it to a friend. If you really like puzzles and need to kill a few hours and the price is under $2.00, eh, just don’t say you weren’t warned..Rick.in.ICTVersion: 1.2

✓ Great game, but loses progressI love this game and have all of them, but I am increasingly frustrated that if I have to stop playing in the middle of the level- it loses my progress for the ENITRE level- and have to do it all over again. ✓ Good, but not as good as previous episodesI live the RL games. They’re excellent. So to give a 3 star review may seem harsh. But I’m comparing this game against their previous titles. The problem with Roots are twofold: 1) it’s not a continuous story. Yes, there are generations across he family tree, but I think there are too many characters or not enough back story to make them distinguishable. They just aren’t engaging 2) too easy. That is something I cannot say about previous titles. Each stage of Roots takes less than 5 mins to complete. I’m at stage 28 now, and some stages have been really, really easy. It’s still a fun game to play. Plenty of the macabre. but eclipsed by their own previous games..Foobar:(Version: 1.2

✓ Too much sadism.I have enjoyed all the other Rusty Lake series of Cube Escape and premium games. All have a bit of dark humour in parts...however this game is a bit too much sadism in every chapter. I am half way through and will not finish it. The puzzles in this are easy too...so a pleasure in that sense, but the story content is too disturbing. And, yes..on my iPad it keeps crashing..CasualgamersVersion: 1.1.5

✓ Puzzles Were Ok; Save Feature Not ReliableThe puzzles were overall good, but some were impossible to get on your own. And the story line was too gruesome (I play to escape; this had too much gory drama). I sure would not recommend it for a child. Also there was a 1 written on one of the pictures so I thought that was a clue like 3 on the hair picture, but it didn’t do anything.
