✓ Connecting problemTechnology is wonderful，but the soft should get better with connecting many lights, it is easy have some bugs, then I have to reset again, then again, again.Version: 1.16.0
✓ Works pretty well, but not perfectI’m using this with 13 devices attached to the smart hub. So far it mostly works! One issue is a remote control which is always added as ‘Disconnected Device’. Lights added via this remote are also “disconnected” but I can drag them into the correct room. No matter how many times I reset and remove the remote, it’s always ‘disconnected’. My other devices appear fine. I’m reluctant to do a full reset due to the pain of re-pairing all the devices....Version: 1.10.1

✓ NiceOverall a nice set of bulbs and motion sensors. I recently began a quest to automate my house to save electricity. Compared to Hue bulbs, the ikea alternatives are much cheaper and of similar high quality. The bulbs lose connection at times but 9/10 times they just work. I wish the developers of the app all the best and thank them for working hard to bring cheap automation to consumers..Version: 1.7.0

✓ Works well until latest updateLatest update adds more products but now the app asks you what you want to install every couple of times you open it and there is no exit option. Only thing you can do is shut down the app. Seems like sloppy but testing. It’s really come a long way in the last year too bad they still need to do some work..Version: 1.10.1
✓ Potential is There…I used the software because it’s the only way to program the blinds and set them up. The software works, but it REALLY needs work. The software has potential to be very decent software. IKEA needs to spend time on this software, it’s not fully baked yet. I hope they clean this app up, as I want to buy more of IKEA’s automated blinds. ✓ It works greatSeeing all the reviews , I have to so I’ve had zero problems so far and it works great, I’ve never had it crash or not work. It also integrates with my sonos very well. Adding the widgets would be a great feature so you can turn you lights on and off from you home screen.Version: 1.16.2
✓ Good enough and improvingThe app is good enough for someone starting with smart applications, but not yet ready for people like me who adopted the whole range and needs flexibility. One example, you can’t use the lights remotely (!) and yet, whilst using google assistant I can effectively use it when not connected to my gateway’s wifi..Version: 1.11.10

✓ Cheaper than the restThere is so much that is very average about Tradfri, but price speaks. It’s a pain that you have to go to ikea store to get Tradfri. Software is very basic but has most of the functions required. Programming of timers is a right pain, doubly so when using it on an iPad. It would be better if you register lamps and devices to a computer then resolve the logical connections rather than having to use a ‘spare’ steering device. All very frustrating. So it’s ok for the money, but could be so much better with remote configuration, multi zone button remotes please so that I can control my lounge lights without my phone/iPad. Oh and how about remote control from out side of WiFi range and Logic functions..Version: 1.11.3
✓ Easy and CheapIf you are looking for a way to do smart lights on the cheap, the IKEA solution is pretty amazing. It took me a little bit to figure out how to set it all up, but compared to actual IKEA furniture it was pretty much a breeze! The IKEA Smart Home app and lineup of products does pretty much all the stuff you’d expect, although I’d like to see a few things added: (1) I would love a sleep timer that will gradually dim or just shut off the lights after you activate it. Currently, you can only set up the app to turn the lights on/off at fixed times. (2) More full RBG bulbs! IKEA smart bulbs come in two types: adjustable white tones (think warm vs blue light) and fully adjustable color bulbs. The distinction isn’t always clear on the website or products. I would love some full color adjustable bulbs for some of the smaller sizes such as the GU10. I would also love a color adjustable LED smart strip!!! (3) Customizable UI for App: the IKEA App is very clean, but I would like if you could custom size aspects like the limit on the number of scenes you can put on your main dashboard. (4) iOS widget: would love to be able to control my lights right off the Home Screen vs. going into the app. Any or some of these improvements would elevate this to a 5 star product for me. If you’re on the fence about this product, I highly recommend you go for it!.Version: 1.20.0

✓ Still in developmentThe app and the system are promising, but there are still bugs to be worked out. For example, setting a timer works, but you then can’t remove timers ever again “Oops: Timers are still loading. Please try again in a few seconds.” Well, I’ve tried after days and still have the same problem. Then devices vanish, some turn up again as a new name, others become uncontrollable even though they are next to functioning ones. These are all basic functions and need to be worked out..Version: 1.11.4

✓ Way better security & privacy than Hue but still lights turn back on after power outageStrengths: IKEA ’s app and the SECURITY model it uses (to SECUREly communicate with the Tradfri hub with COAP TLS) while RESPECTing your data privacy (by NOT spying on you and NOT reporting your time-stamped usage data to its servers) deserves a LOT of praise and it’s very well engineered ‘under-the-hood’. This is all in complete contrast to how the Hue app and bridge setup works, and how it’s security model is STILL “trivial” to defeat with a MITM attack, since it still uses a self-signed security certificate for https. It also sends a ton of data back to its home servers on a regular basis, and this is bad. The biggest weakness for IKEA’s app and Tradfri setup is that there’s still no ability to configure the Tradfri lights to NOT automatically get turned back on in the middle of the night after a power outage (which Hue app does allow user to configure to prevent) PLEASE implement this feature in your app and Tradfri lights’ firmware!.Version: 1.11.2
✓ New Home smart app has a major bugThe original app was functioning well till I was encouraged to update to the newly renamed IKEA Smart home version this morning. This opens, very briefly shows a ‘What’s New’ page and instantly goes to a blank blue screen. I’ve waited a minute or two but nothing further shows on the screen. Needs fixing urgently. Fortunately the iOS Home app continues to function correctly..Version: 1.10.0
✓ It’s alright.The app doesn’t enjoy connecting to the actual lights sometimes and it’s annoying, also I really wish there was a strobe setting on the coloured lights as it’s kind of boring to have all of those colours available on the light but you can’t use it for anything fun..Version: 1.11.6
✓ Great, until the latest updateHas always worked well, but latest update is buggy. I love my smart lights and have a timer to wake me up in the morning and then go off when I leave for work - however the “off” timer keeps turning the lights off one hour before the time I’ve set them to turn off. ✓ Easy to use, but….App is easy to use. And to set up. It was a little buggy after the app upgrade. Needed to, First, completely uninstall the app, then unplug the hub, then plug the hub after 15 seconds, then reinstall the app. That seemed to do it after many attempts of troubleshooting..Version: 1.20.1
✓ Great app and lighting automation solutionThe new Scenes work well. The app pays a lot of attention to details such as being able to manually sort Scenes and Rooms into the order that makes most sense to the user, and selecting icons to represent Scenes. Setup had a few teething problems, with one lightbulb not responding to the “All off” scene (even though it was included in the scene) and another stuck in a firmware update. Resolved the first by removing the bulb and re-adding it to the Scene. Resolved the second by power cycling the Hub. We were able to make our Remote Control only control the bulbs in the Lounge, which is great. Feature request: a Scene icon for Christmas! (Christmas tree). We set this Scene to colour the bulbs red and geeen. Feature request #2: Fully customisable light colours instead of selecting from a fixed palette. Feature request #3: Apple Watch app to select between Scenes..Version: 1.12.0
✓ External AccessNot being able to access smart lighting from outside my home wi-fi is a major drawback of this app when compared to other similar smart lighting systems. Integration with Amazons smart home/echo works alright when it’s been configured. I find the range of the smart home hub thing to be limited, I often can’t connect from parts of my flat with ample WiFi coverage..Version: 1.11.3
✓ Latest update is fantasticI originally bought the tradfri set as it is one of the only security friendly smart lighting options. It uses only a local network connection for control, nothing external, which gets rid of a lot of risk with these sorts of devices. It’s reasonably easy to set up. The app was a little lacking up until now, as I originally wanted to use smart lighting for sleep hygiene, specifically controlling light temperature to aid sleep. Now that we have timers that include colour and brightness settings I can simulate sunset type colours to gradually darken through the evening. Yay! Thanks developers! My only wish is that we could get a full colour spectrum option rather than being limited to a group of presets - I’m not sure if this is a software or hardware limitation but it would be really neat. Eg. at the moment there are only 2 shades of green, and you can’t even get onto green cycling through on the remote..Version: 1.11.4

✓ MehIt started out good.. a pain to set up i use multiple bulbs, 2 for outside (garage) 1 in foyer, 1 in front room, 6 in chandelier, 2 in master, and 3 bulbs on the lanai ceiling fan...often the bulbs will need to be re-synced and just stop coming on and off and just stay on👀😳 I don’t think my gateway can handle it all... I like the convenience of using my smartphone to turn on and off but I have all lights on a timer i don’t know a lot of money to get so-so results. Fix this IKEA! Thanks 🙏🏽.Version: 1.8.0
✓ Finally this app is stable and working wellWe have been using this system for a while, and it’s now working quite well. They seem to have sorted out the earlier issues. We use the ikea app to control our lights and blinds and to occasionally set up some timers. We appreciate that it only works with the app while your on your home wifi. It reduces the hacking potential. I gather not everyone sees it as a positive feature, but it also means that you can control your system even if your internet is down as it’s not using the cloud to control it, you only need your wifi to be operational..Version: 1.22.2
✓ Not bad.The app is nice and easy to setup. It is functional but not as intuitive as it could be. Hopefully once the promised HomeKit support arrives it will be better. The bulbs are great and well priced. Would hope some colour versions arrive in the future, as well as some bulbs designed to go outside. ✓ Never going backLove this app and the Ike’s line of smart products. I’ve slowly transitioned most light bulbs to Ikea and use this app to control them. ✓ Well I tried .. got there eventuallyUPDATE: use a modem from the early 2000’s in order to support the latest TRÅDFRI devices .. go figure :/ Plugged the dam thing in, flicked open app - can’t find gateway. Locate IP from router, enter manual IP, scan back of gateway and then ... no devices found.. Have tried factory reset. Might try reversing over it with car....Version: 1.9.1
✓ Very poorWireless connection is dreadful, frequently fails to connect despite being connected to WiFi for every other application. App itself is shoddy: trying to turn off one room turns in another and they get stuck essentially flip flopping between rooms. This is not difficult stuff, and I resent being used as a beta tester!! ✓ Great product at an affordable priceThe TRÅDFRI system is very good. The lights look nice, it is easy to set up, and the app is intuitively set up. The only thing that is missing for me to give it 5 stars is support for Google Home. Hope that is coming soon. Also, a smart tip for everyone - let the bulbs and remotes update before you write a review. A lot of the comments here are due to you running outdated software..Version: 1.3.1

✓ Great purchaseWhen I first bought these bulbs it took me forever just for the bulbs to show up, but I noticed after the bulbs were connected, they automatically begin a software update. Once the update is finished for the remote and the bulbs, they pair easily and show up in HomeKit right away. I love these bulbs and I also recommend the Tradfri Disco app to get some cool effects..Version: 1.9.0
✓ Great concept, not the best UII love how to software functions, it’s very quick to turn my lights off an on but the user interface needs a full rework, it’s very unnatural and confusing at first. The app has some great features like alarms and holiday mode, I also like the preset colour temperatures. The only flaw is that there is still no Google Home integration, I use google home and IKEA promised the update by the end of the year, so hopefully that’s added very soon..Version: 1.2.0
✓ Excellent smart lighting with AlexaFirst gateway did not work very well, replaced it after a month or two - the second gateway has worked a dream, timer functions are fantastic and work. (I have much less connection issues than previously noted including syncing with Alexa). Continues to work like a dream post lockdown..Version: 1.11.7
✓ So far so good......App is fairly easy to use and helpful for adding extra devices. Have 2 remotes though that are pending update but not actually updating which is a bit strange. Would be great to be able to set a mood on the timer, I'd like the lights to turn on automatically in the evening with the relax mood compared to other moods I might use during the rest of the day. ✓ Recent Update FailureSirs, the recent update to change name etc does not work. The name and app icon have changed. But when you open it, it starts to connect then goes to a white window about blinds I think, but it crashes or freezes on a blank blue screen. Please sort it asap... I regularly need to access it as it does not always work/play with google home nicely.Version: 1.10.0
