Piano Sight-Reading Trainer for Negative User Reviews

Can’t hear anything!Would love to try this app but there is no sound whatsoever. Even with my volume turned right up there is no sound. There are no settings at all so I have no idea how to make it work. Unless the support request I made is answered I’ve just wasted my money on this app..Version: 2.0.0

Not workingApp does it work despite having paid to download. No sound from app and feedback says wrong answers..Version: 2.0.0

Great idea, no audio?Great idea and would be so fantastic if I could hear the audio for the rhythm tests. Please fix the bugs because I love the idea!.Version: 2.0.0

PIANO SIGHT READING TRAINERRip off app is called piano sight reading trainer you have to pass training levels before you can unlock the sight reading trainer level.Version: 2.0.0

No sound on iPhone 7No sound on iPhone 7..Version: 1.0.2

Only for pianoI don’t know if it is any good because it is really only for piano. For example, it asks what fingering is appropriate for playing the notes, confusing, as I play the cello, until I realised that they were talking about the piano..Version: 1.0.2

Hidden sound issueWhen I first used the app there was no sound and I searched in vain for hours to find a missing control which might restore it. It was only by chance that I stumbled upon the answer - that there is sound but it can only be heard through earphones. Ridiculous. Developers at least give us the option to listen to the app how we please..Version: 2.0.0

How can I stop using the APP?I’ve been using the App for a few months and it’s really good. I think it has been really helpful but now I’m practising for my Grade 7 and I don’t need it any longer. The thing is, it is still charging me every month and I don’t know how to stop my subscription. I have been on my Apple ID and all but it’s not charging me from there. Please let me know how..Version: 1.0.2

No sound on the new upgradeHey, The old version was brilliant. Now, I’ve lost all my progress with the upgrade and there is no sound..Version: 2.0.0

RubbishSo bad learnt nothing DOES NOT LISTEN TO YOUR SIGHTREADING.Version: 1.0.2

I can’t give this any stars even though I had to give it one to write thisI cannot get any sound from the app and I cannot access the sight reading part. When I click on app support it says the page is not found. I am incredibly unsatisfied as I am trying to get some help for my son with sight reading and this app has cost me almost $8 and it is unusable. It’s not even clear to me how I could get my money back. I’ve written to ABRSM by email and have not had any response - I could not be more dissatisfied. Do not buy this!.Version: 2.0.0

Sound does not work!!You cannot do any of the games as the sound does not work.Version: 1.0.2

What on earth..?!Speaking as a piano teacher, what I’ve seen so far is terrible. I’ve only looked at Grade 1 so perhaps the higher grades work better. I will update if so! First of all, sight-reading is intended to help with reading music, and the intention is to be able to see and play. So why does the first exercise ask students to translate notes into letter names and recall them in this way, while removing the actual notation? How will that help to build skillls in reading more complex music later on? We should be looking at fast note recognition and translation straight to playing, by looking at intervals, repeated elements, scale patterns, rhythmic patterns, etc. The most important thing here is to be looking at the music you need to play! This app relies on memorisation more than see-and-play, which is not developing the skills that are actually required and is not representative of the task actually set in the exam (or indeed in real-life sight-reading). I’m definitely sticking to the excellent Paul Harris Improve Your Sight-Reading! books for my students. Very disappointed with the ABRSM for this — I wonder if they did any consumer testing or consultation at all..Version: 1.0.2

UpdateHi, I think this app was great before the update, I had just started with it and was making progress, I logged in one day and realised that there was an update. Now, everything I had done was lost and I think I am practising the same pieces as before. I don’t know why, but I think in the update, it just forgets recent progress. Please can you do something about this because it is quite annoying that I have to practise the same Grade 5 pieces as before. Thanks.Version: 2.0.0

App won’t play soundAbsolute waste of money as the app won’t play any sound making it impossible to complete the exercises. Happy to amend review if fixed or developer contacts me with a solution..Version: 2.0.0

Nice idea... but...Providing piano sight reading is no good if you’re using it for other instruments!.Version: 1.0.2

Sound issueI have just purchased the app. I can see from other comments NOW that this app only works with headphones. I would not have bought it if I knew that to be the case. I just assumed an official ABRSM app would be higher quality..Version: 2.0.0

Application does not work! There is no sound when you run the rhythm part. Not sure if anything else works, but just asking for a refund as without sound it’s pretty useless.Version: 2.0.0

Don’t buy!I read the reviews and bought anyway. I’m a piano teacher and thought I’d find enough in it across the different levels it was worth it. There’s no sound which makes it useless. Also there’s a timer on everything which I think would stress out most pupils. I’ve requested a refund..Version: 2.0.0

No soundI purchased this app with great intention. However, there is no way of listening to the sound? How am I supposed to answer questions on a rhythm being played back to me if I cannot hear it??.Version: 2.0.0

Sight reading option is lockedI paid £5 to download the app only to find that the sight reading option is locked..Version: 2.0.0

Not really fit for purposeI am a teacher, and I thought it would be good to look at this for my students. Not only is the app quite clunky to use and not particularly intuitive, the entire premise is flawed. The rhythm matching is ok - but limited. A more holistic approach to it would help. The pitch matching is just awful. It requires you to memorise the entire passage, then asks you questions on it. This doesn’t match in any way with the way most people sight-read music. It would be so much better if it could listen to you at the piano, something like Simply Piano, and judge that way. I don’t really think this particular method would ‘train’ anyone to sight read music. More focus on relative pitch would be good too, rather than memorising note ranges. The whole experience is sadly disappointing and I would advise spending your money elsewhere..Version: 2.0.0

Deceiving AppsThe sight reading button is locked. I can't do any sight reading pieces.. very disappointed....Version: 1.0.2

Sound?!I haven’t been able to use it yet as no sound. Reading through the reviews it appears that I can only use sound through headphones?! I’m a teacher so how can I work through this with pupils if we can only listen through headphones? Very frustrating as the app wasn’t free and currently is no use to me….Version: 2.0.0

No soundIt needs to be removed from the App Store as it is broken.Version: 2.0.0

No sound after updateI’ve used this app for a couple of years and it has been great, however since the update there is no audio making it unusable as you can’t complete the first exercise. Don’t waste you money on the app until this problem is resolved..Version: 2.0.0
