Plan to Eat for Negative User Reviews

What did they do!I have been using plan to eat for years now, I started on their desktop site. Lately the search function starts searching for your recipe while your still typing this actually slows it all down. Please just make it so that it searches when I hit the search button. Speaking of slow the app is getting slower and slower. I know have over 1000 recipes saved but it should not slow down performing basic functions. Also when importing a recipe from the internet I hit save and then try to view it, it appears as though it wasn’t saved at all and the app effectively hangs itself with the spinning logo. So I do it again with the same results, it takes me about three tries to successfully import a recipe even having to delete and reload the app. Then later I will find I actually have the recipe saved 5 times over. I wish you guys would fix these issues! I really do not want to find another meal planning app but the more frustrated I am with it the more that is looking like my only option..Version: 2.1.3

Lacking simple featuresIt seems this app has been around for quite some time, so I was surprised to find it lacking in simple features such as adding your own cuisine or tags (keto, baking, family faves, etc) as well as not being able to list a simple ‘cup’ as a measurement. Instead everything converts to mls. This is frustrating when you’re listing non liquid ingredients like flour or sugar. The rest of the app looks promising, but it needs added features to justify a yearly subscription..Version: 2.4.5

At first I thought it was great but then I didn’t...Let me explain myself, PTE was life-changing. I loved the ease of importing etc; but when it came to typing in recipes from your favourite cookbook, it becomes a mammoth task. I don’t like how there is a monthly fee. For an app that barely adds any new features on the regular( only doing bug fixes), it’s not worth it. I feel like the design of this very static. There are other apps that do exactly the same and you pay a one off fee. After having the contrast effect, I see a lot of weaknesses. the contrast of their app is that they (some thing to do with board and meal) allow you to scan your cookbook and it converts it into the recipe database, all for a one-off fee, which is the price of PTE’s monthly fee. PTE your app is okay, but to be great you need scanning features and reminders to start cooking. Yes it’s complex coding but it will revolutionise your app and justify the monthly fee..Version: 2.8.3

Pay-wallNot interested in paying a subscription fee.Version: 2.5.4

Can’t live without it!This app is more than awesome. I have been using it for several months now and fully utilise all its features. I plan meals each week, print out my shopping list, cook from the recipes propping my iPad by the cooker, I upload new recipes from the web and already have nearly 300 tried and tested recipes all rated by my guests - I delete recipes that are too complicated or don’t get high ratings. An area of my life which has previously been a bit hit and miss is now straightforward and enjoyable. Congratulations to the developers - and thank you for always looking for ways to improve..Version: 2.2.1

Good, but definite improvements possibleI like this app overall and the ability to steadily digitalise my extensive cookbook collection is almost as much a part of my reason for liking it as the easy importing of recipes and ability to take my favourites away when travelling. However, I have a pretty massive bugbear, which irritates me every time I use the app. Being British, I live with a mixed system of metric and imperial measurements. Many of my recipes state grams for solid foods, millilitres for fluids as well as regularly including teaspoons and tablespoons. After I contacted the feedback, a metric/imperial toggle switch was introduced but frankly it is clunky and leads to inaccurate conversions. Now every time I use the app I am mildly irritated by the idea that I might need 15ml of caster sugar, or 3ml of some spice or other. This still needs fixing for me to be able to really get behind this app..Version: 2.5.4

Needs an updateI’ve been using this meal planner for 3 years now. I use it everyday. I feel that it needs an update. It’s not the best looking app and it seems like the developers are no longer working on it. They’re happy taking my $ each year though. And that’s where it bothers me. If there’s a dev actively working on it, yearly plan is fine. If they stopped developing it, then make it a 1 time purchase. I wish it was easier to import a recipe from a book. With iOS 15, I can now copy/paste text, but it still takes over 10minutes to import it properly in this app..Version: 2.9.0

30 day trial $40 per year subscriptionNot worth the price, not interested in subscription to plan my meals..Version: 1.9.10

Good...when it opensI have a Plan-to-Eat subscription for several years, and I LOVE it! Truly the very best thing that has happened to my cooking/meal planning life! It would be impossible for me to overstate how much I appreciate and depend upon PTE in my day-to-day, week-to-week life as the family cook! The app is very nice except for two important things: 1) Sometimes it simply fails to open. There will just be a blank white screen. That is very frustrating. Thankfully I have it bookmarked in my browser, so I can work around it that way, but it is still a hassle. 2) In the app I lose the little letters indicating which recipe each item on the shopping list is for. So if I just want to dash into a store to pick up ingredients for one recipe, the app is of no use (once again I have to go in through my browser). The people behind PTE have always been very responsive and committed to improving the user experience, so I am sure they will work to resolve these issues..Version: 1.9.3

OK Meal planning and recipe keeper appI have used this app for several years, and although there are some things that I really like about it, I will not continue to subscribe. New versions are released quite often, but I still experience so many problems, mainly when working on my Mac. When I try to import a recipe from the web, the app crashes every time. Therefore, I have to add it on my phone and then I go back to my computer to make notes or view the larger print of a recipe while I’m cooking. When I search for a recipe and click to open it, it stays open for a brief period of time and then I have to reopen it constantly while I am working my way through a recipes. I would never pay the full annual price for this app, and even for the half price annual sale it’s not worth it anymore. For that kind of price these minor glitches should be fixed..Version: 3.1.0

Finally the app... but needs camera integrationI’m a long time user of Plan to Eat. I’ve gone back and forth between loving it and being completely frustrated and abandoning it. The app was exactly what was needed to smooth out the bumpy experience on a phone so thank you. I’m super disappointed there is no feature to take a photo of recipes from a cookbook and OCR them into Plan to Eat. It’s better but I still have a mountain of effort to put in to get my recipes in there and knowing what it took to get my staples list set up I’m not looking forward to it..Version: 1.5.7

Paid appI didn’t get to use it, so the low rating does not go to the app itself, but to the fact that it is published as a free app, but it is “free” only during the free trial period, after which you have to pay. Nothing wrong with paid apps, but it is dishonest not to disclosure that this is one of them from the beginning..Version: 2.6.0

Can't make accountThe signing up process doesn't work- it's doesn't send any code to verify your email..Version: 2.9.5
