Sleepiest: Sleep Meditations for Negative User Reviews

Not enough variety of booksUnfortunately I feel that there is not enough variety of books. I have been a member for over four months and have listened to all of the bedtime stories, the books have not changed since the start. They add two books every so often( not enough in my opinion). This could be an amazing app but they definitely need to make sure that they are adding new books regularly. .( especially when the app states that they add new books weekly). The meditation and sounds app works great and sends you off to sleep beautifully. Please more books!!!!.Version: 10.4

Incomplete storiesI was hoping that ideally there would be short stories here to get me off to sleep in the night when I have been busy (ie. to help my mind unwind first). I picked the Sherlock Holmes story (the cardboard box one) and my mind was gently drifting away....when all of a sudden over the space of a few words it stopped!! I thought that a sleep timer might have activated, no problem I thought I’ll just tell it to continue, but no! There was no more story....?What is the point of including just 37mins (about three quarters I think) of a Sherlock Holmes short story!? - meaning that the explanation of how he solved the mystery is missing???? I also think that there should be a monthly subscription too..Version: 4.0

This app is good! But I have a few complaintsSo this app may be very helpful but I have noticed that most of these sounds/mediations are really expensive!? I really want my daughter to have a good night sleep when she has to relax to the same sound OVER and OVER again? So PLEASE sleepiest May you please make more free sounds? OR just make the whole thing free and enjoyable?!.Version: 11.85

The meditations are amazingThe meditations are amazing. And so are the narrators. I have a few issues with this app. Like how I recommended this app to two friends and didn’t get the reward (I digitally recommended it through the link I’m not stupid) and I feel like if just a few more were free that would make it better. I’ve finished all of the free stories and I need something new to help me go to sleep. But otherwise it’s a great app. I love the tips..Version: 9.5

Be careful with the free trial!!!!!Got this app to help my daughter to settle going to bed. It didn’t work. She was so board. Every time I tried to cancel the free trial, they offered an extra week. So decided to try it for myself. It didn’t work either, and on top, the app automatically renewed for a whole year!!!! It never asked me if I wanted to renew for a month, or a week… just went straight to one year! Such a scam!!! I’m so disgusted with this tricks!.Version: 14.08

Things I would make my rating a 5 starSo I have a favourite person and that is Jared wright. I would love if we could have more free stories by him, “A home on mars is great but I listen to it almost very night and all the other people don’t really help me fall asleep. So I would love if you could use and read this information to get some better ratings. Good job! This app is great but please read people’s reviews and ideas to get amazing ratings! Keep on making this app helpful and awesome..Version: 13.20

Would be better if longerI like this app because it seems to work somewhat. I have yet to hear the end to any story because I fall asleep before they are over. However, I have three things I don’t like. 1. It has to be connected to the internet to work. I don’t like having something near my head that is wirelessly connected. So I’m order to use this. I have to have my cell phone on and near me, for the cord to my headphones to reach me. It would be far better to be able to download them for offline use, like most of these sorts of sleep apps allow, so I could turn my phone on airplane mode while I sleep. Research has shown cell phones and other similar devices to disrupt sleep, which sort of defeats the purpose of using this app. 2. Stories are not long enough. Most are only around 20 mins or so, so I just start drifting off to sleep, and they end, waking me back up again. This and the reason above are the main reasons I didn’t sign up to pay for it after the free trial expired. 3. Cost is too high for what is given. There aren’t that many stories to choose from, so for the cost without even having the option to download for offline use, I didn’t feel this was worth spending money on. If they fixed these issues, I would gladly pay because the narrators of the story are very good at story telling in a hypnotic sort of way that makes me drift into sleep..Version: 5.6

SleepiestGuide for set up and how to use sleepiest is poorly designed for a beginner. Tips are available but do not allow a transfer to actual step or setting, for example. There are explanations for the stages of sleep, but not an interpretation of actual sleep stages in report, or at least, no clear explanation of how to interpret the information. There’s no explanation for what some of the settings are that are in the section for your preferences. Most are self-explanatory, but some are only “abbreviated” (what’s that stand for...?). It’s been frustrating. After three nights of trying to track sleep, I’ve only got one actual reading that has any solid information. I don’t think it tracked properly the first night...chalked it up to “user error”. Second night, worked perfectly...yay, figured it out! Third night, I had found some information that I had not seen before and thought, “oh! Here’s what I’ve been looking for!” That’s where I made a couple of adjustments, trying to “fine tune” everything for optimal effectiveness, only when I checked on my report, it reported “wake”. It’s an actual report recorded in my profile. Ugh...! I want this to work and I have read and searched the app to make sure I am understanding everything about setting up and selecting preferences and so on, but it isn’t very easily explained..Version: 9.8

No thanks70 dollars to listen to someone talk no thanks YouTube has the for free😊.Version: 10.0

You can sleep on this... for nowTried the paid app. There’s potential here. But not $50 potential. You have some endless electronic loops that could make Brian Eno blush, but not many of them. There are classic bedtime stories read by really good actors and possibly most intriguing is a mix that you make from various sleepy sounds like trains, waterfalls, rainstorms ASMR hits, etc (limit of 12) The problem with the stories is not everyone is going to nod off by the end of a 20 minute story and No queue capability to string stories together. So it is weird that they baked a sleep timer into stories the gives you option of end of story which is the same as just playing g the story since that’s all you’ll hear or up to 60 minutes which will come long after the story is over. You have to get up and manually play another one. That’s not going to help matters. Next, The problem with the DIY and premade music mixes is that while they’re very nice they’re sure to get monotonous unless there are constant updates going on. We are talking about an app that purports to put you to sleep every night after all. Worst of all, you have the option to download stories but the app work without a connection! What’s the point of that? Potential but I’m not keeping this app..Version: 5.1

Used to be greatThis app used to be so amazing. The stories were free without a subscription, the soundscapes were customizable, it was wonderful. Now almost everything is hidden behind a paywall. Extremely disappointing..Version: 14.09

Money grab7-day free trial then paid subscription afterwards. I’ve seen other similar apps have a successful model of a free version that has limited content and the option to pay for premium content the user selects rather than getting everything. I’d advise devs to look into this model for their app - I’d like to choose which content I’m paying for, thanks. Hard pass on this money grab app..Version: 5.2

Minimal selection of free optionsNot everyone can afford to pay for a subscription to give them access to 90% of the app. The sounds, stories and meditations that are free, are very helpful and useful but using them over and over again becomes repetitive and I end up alternating with apps similar to this to change things up..Version: 10.4

My Advice 👍🏻I think Sleepiest is great but it would be amazing if you don't have to buy something for the better stuff. Normally when I see those kinds I end up deleting the app entirely 😅.Version: 12.30

LESS THAN ONE STAR!! 😡I take more than 30 min to fall asleep. Just as I was starting to relax, the narration not only ended, but the story wasn’t over yet! Since I didn’t get closure with the story, I instantly became wide awake. Had I known the story wasn’t completely there, wouldn’t have listened to any of it. Thanks for keeping me awake the extra 2 hours it took me to find it on YouTube and finish it. I WOULD GIVE NEGATIVE STARS IF THAT WAS AN OPTION!.Version: 5.5

I want to love it, but I keep deleting it. It's just not user-oriented enough for the cost. There are some incredible meditations on this app! I really love them. BUT the lack of the following features makes this borderline unusable for the amount they charge. 1. There is not an option to skip the intro section of a title. If I am listening to multiple things in a row TO FALL ASLEEP, I don't want to transition from the end of a calming meditation to someone introducing themself and telling me how their meditation works. I like that for the first time, but there needs to be an option to eliminate these first intros if you're doing a playlist or similar. It is jarring to hear "Good evening" or "hello" in the middle of falling into your deep sleep. 2. It auto plays anything you touch. I just want to click on something and read about it before I choose. I would like to be able to do this while I'm already listening to something. 3. The auto-off is only in minutes. An option of # of plays (for example 2 meditations or 3 stories or X number of items in a playlist) would be nice. For example, this meditation I am listening to is 33 minutes long. I can only set the sleep timer in 15 minute intervals. Do I cut it off early or start the next one?.Version: 14.09

Absolute garbage that will charge you monthly for what your phone already does (just more annoying)Apparently this app has been charging me over 15$ every month and I had no idea. I never used it once and in fact, it was pretty f-ing annoying saying “it’s beddy byes time” like an adult needs a reminder like that. What absolute bull I want my money back. I’ve been scammed.Version: 14.12

False advertisingIt says languages are English, French, German, etc. It’s English and Portuguese only. I wanted this for sleep stories for a French child..Version: 11.85

Not so goodA lot of fluff but empty content.Version: 10.5

Kind of creepyI only tried the stories of this app (did not get to the soundscapes and meditations before my free trial ran out) and many of them had the type of content I like (fairytale, magic, woodland-type) but unfortunately some of the stories were too creepy and disturbing for me and while I fell asleep fast most of the time, some of the stories were just too disturbing to the point that they disrupted my sleep. When the trial ran out, I transitioned to the free trial on the Moshi app and wasn’t as pleased with the content of the stories (not as many stories about fairies and woodland magic, as well as a different story-telling style where it doesn’t slow down as much in the end) but they are much more peaceful and free of disturbing content that I always slept well with the Moshi stories and decided to purchase the Moshi subscription over the Sleepiest one. I appreciate the company making an app gearing their stories towards an adult audience, but a doll who has a tear in her head that her thoughts can leak out of is just too creepy for bedtime. I also enjoy the meditations and soundscapes of the Moshi app (and they help my dog calm down too) but I cannot compare them to the ones in Sleepiest because I didn’t try them there. All in all, if you’re not squeamish then get this app but if you’re sensitive then get the G-rated gentle kiddos version..Version: 7.4

SuggestionsI have a lot of difficulty with sleep. I have been a user of this app for a really long time because I find one of your narrators works for me and I have listened to the one free version of theirs so often that I could recite each word and it began to take two listens to fall asleep because I was so used to it. I wanted more content but couldn’t justify the subscription price for a few more tracks by that narrator. I recommend selling individual tracks, bundles or allowing subscriptions for individual narrators content. Now that none of her tracks are free and the subscription doesn’t work for me, I no longer use the app. Not sure if you’d be interested in restructuring your payment models but this would have suited me better as a customer..Version: 9.2

DON'T use sleep tracker!I've been using Sleepiest for over a year now. As far as bedtime stories are concerned, I've just never grown up. However, the new sleep tracker is a BAD move. Tracking your sleep is a great idea. Sleeping with your phone on charge, whilst on the mattress IS NOT! Perhaps sleepiest intends to send you into such a deep sleep, that you'll never wake up from. As a firefighter with 25yrs experience. I can tell you that from a fire safety aspect, leaving your phone on charge as you sleep is bad enough. With it on your mattress too though😳😳😳😳 Who's crazy idea was that?! I've personally attended house fires caused by phones being charged in inappropriate places, such as on soft furnishings. Please don't follow this advice. Enjoy a safe dream filled sleep that you're going to wake up from. Avoid being the star of your own nightmare, that you don't wake up from. Rather than.Version: 6.4

BewareThis company did exactly the opposite of what they claim. Without notifying me first, they took money from my account . I want my money back you sleezeballs.Version: 10.4

SCAM - you don’t need the account!!!To do automatic sleep tracking, Sleepiest asks for several things (but they don’t tell you up front; they wait until you’re deep into the setup): they want access to your Health data, which is totally normal and ok because Apple designed that around privacy: it never leaves your device. Then they tell you you have to set up an account with them, and share your private health data with them!! All the reasons they give in their “why do you need this” popup are false: Apple moves your Health data directly from phone to phone when you get a new phone, so you don’t need Sleepiest’s help for that (nice try), and all of the analysis they’re talking about, using your Fitness and Movement data to improve their accuracy? They can do 100% of that on your phone too. There is NO REASON to allow them to upload your private health data. None. It’s a scam..Version: 13.20

WrongThe sleep tracking is wrong whenever I wake up in the middle of the night I check the time, I woke up around 4:50 AM and in the morning around 9 AM I turned off the Sleep tracking and I checked to see how I had been sleeping. It said that I was in a deep sleep from 4 to 5 AM. And then I was awake at 1 AM to 1:30 AM and awake at 6 AM. I was only awake at 4:50 and couldn’t fall asleep the rest of the night the sleep tracking is very wrong and there should be some improvements. But I do like listening to sounds at night it helps me fall asleep. I do think there should be a timer with the sound so the phone isn’t on But I do like listening to sounds at night it helps me fall asleep. I do think there should be a timer with the sound so the phone isn’t on all night because that is very bad for a person to have a phone next to them on all night. I don’t personally like the stories because the voices are kind of creepy for night but the soothing sounds are nice my favorite is the Atlantis ocean sound..Version: 7.8

Looks great!Looks like a great app however you must subscribe for the good stuff..Version: 5.5

Ripped me offHad a free trail for premium, canceled it after a few days before it ended but the app has taken $85 dollars out of my account for something I didn’t want. Tried to cancel it multiple times and thought it did but keeps charging me.Version: 9.0

AwesomeIt really helps me get to sleep..Version: 14.08

Stories and guided meditations feel rawIdk how to describe what I dislike about the stories on this app other than they feel unfinished, raw, and like they’re a first draft. Sometimes the guided meditations and stories seems like someone had their kid write them to save the company money then gave the script to whoever would be willing to bark out the lines for cheap. Which is kinda how the app feels. Cheap. Idk. Descriptions are sometimes wrong on meditations, the readers sound like they don’t want to be doing this, and the visuals aren’t rendered all that well. Which would be fine if the price reflected this but this app is just as expensive as other sleep apps. It also feels like this app lacks the diversity (in readers and in writers and stories) present on the app if hoped to replace. I paid for a few months of Sleepiest to try and find a replacement for the Calm app and I was happy with many of the technical functions on Sleepiest- like the app volume being independent from my phone volume, being able to have a whole play list and the apps sleep tracker. Because the first two were really important to me I thought I would get used to the story quality. But unfortunately I can’t say the app is worth the money..Version: 10.4

Not for meI tried the app. First I did the sounds, I scrolled through until I found a sound I like and tried sleeping. However, I realised that the sound was a repeat and I ended counting the number of times the sound repeated for 10 minutes. So then I moved to stories, I tried a Sherlock Holmes story and tried to sleep again. The narrators spoke so softly and kept doing pauses. Which might work for some people but for me, it scared me straight. The pauses just made terrified but interested. So I ended up wasting more than 40 minutes and wasn’t able to go to sleep..Version: 9.8

NoThe review said completely free but right away it wanted money, nope not from me.Version: 5.6

Cost vs experienceI have to start off by saying: I absolutely loved my free trial of this product. It works exactly as they stated. I don’t think there was a single night where I didn’t fall asleep within 3-5 minutes after putting one of the stories on. However, I absolutely HATE subscription service apps. I want to eventually say that I “own” something after an investment, and with a subscription, you constantly pay into it but you never actually “own” it. That’s not for me. Not only that, but as others have stated, the subscription is pricey. I would be willing to pay $20 for this app and have fewer features (ie a limited number of stories perhaps) but know that I actually “own” the app and can take a break and then come back to it down the road rather than any type of a subscription. If devs ever go this route, count me in any day! The app is quality and I do enjoy it and would definitely purchase a condensed version, but subscription services just aren’t for me. If you are okay with subscriptions though, I would check this app out. It was wonderful!.Version: 3.9

FrustratedI made the mistake of doing a free trial of this app. It was okay, but I wasn’t loving it a lot, so I soon discontinued using it and it slipped to the back of my mind. I acknowledge that I should have been more on top of cancelling right away, but I made a mistake and forgot until the morning after I was charged - charged for a FULL YEAR! I emailed customer service right away, and I received no response. Not even an acknowledgement of my message or someone redirecting me to the proper channel - just nothing. I proceeded to send four additional emails over several weeks, and still no response at all. I eventually learned through other sources that I needed to contact Apple support about this matter (which seems like it could have been made more clear upfront), which I then did. I was told by Apple support that this particular purchase was non-refundable. It was not even possible to reduce the charge. Mind you - I had not even so much as logged into this app since before the paid subscription period started. So I guess one way to make money is to unwaveringly charge mildly forgetful people for a FULL YEAR for a product they are not even using. I am highly unimpressed with the customer service..Version: 7.1
