My grandmother came here from Vietnam and speaks no English this app taught me all that I needed to communicate with her in as little as 10 mins. ✓ Four StarsThe app is honestly so great. The dictation is easy to follow and the app makes it fun and easy to learn. Compared to other apps, this one was the best. However there was some spelling mistakes that made me confused. In the app, bread is spelled Bánh mý but it’s actually spelled Bánh mì. I’m not sure if the different spelling is just a different way to spell it. But, I even asked a native speaker and they said it’s spelled Bánh mì and has never seen it spelled with a “y”. Also, I feel like there should be an update where it checks to see if you’re pronouncing the words right, or spelling the words right! Anyways, it’s a great app and I totally recommend it!.Version: 24.0

✓ Spectacular!I am a Chinese-American living in Hanoi, fluent in both Mandarin and English and learning Vietnamese. In 3 years, Drops has been the best vocabulary acquisition tool I have found - although it should be noted that these are all South Vietnamese (Saigonese) recordings. So it’s lucky that I’ve got my phonics down for my part of Vietnam! Bonus for me that I learn a bit of Southern Vietnamese along the way ;).Version: 24.3

This is essential for Vietnamese because there is a lot of nuance in the pronunciation that aren’t present Latin-derived languages I have studied. Duolingo perhaps hasn’t been able to fund their Vietnamese lesson development department as thoroughly as some of their other languages, which are excellent. It was confusing to use and learn basics, they did not have the pronunciation of the words recorded to play upon the completion of each exercise..Version: 29.14

✓ Love this app!I generally struggle to learn so spent a lot of time trying to find the best app/ book/ website and had no luck. Then I found Drops which is amazing! I never write reviews (or generally read them) but felt that I really needed to for this one. I get that it’s probably not everyone’s cup of tea but for visual learners it is brilliant. It is a really unique and interesting way of leaning and because of the colours, interaction and the format it makes learning much less of a struggle. I did look at some of the reviews when I decided to write this and saw a lot of criticism because of the 5 minute learning limit. When I first downloaded the app I was in complete agreement as I was learning easily for the first time in my life and just wanted to keep going which made the limit so frustrating. However I use the app every day so have now gotten onto trickier words and I have now found myself thankful for the limit because I think that without it I would have stormed ahead and wouldn’t be making as much progress as I now am. The only negative to this app is the cost if you want unlimited languages as access. Although £99.99 isn’t that much in the grand scheme of things and so is technically affordable, especially for what you get in return, a lot of people can’t justify spending that much at one time for one thing, even if it is a lifetime thing. If you use the app every day you do earn awards; some are time bonuses and some are price discounts. Even with this discount £74.99 is a lot but if someone can afford this easily I would say it is well worth it as the free version is excellent although I don’t know if it has a limit of free usage to force a purchase after a set amount of time..Version: 28.23
