GeoShred Control for Positive User Reviews

Amateur MusicianIt’s fantastic music instrumental app no doubt, to learn this it’s need lot of regular practice. Thank you Sir. Hayder Chowdhury.Version: 5.963.1.1

Excellent App for musiciansI got GeoShredControl control first, saw tremendous value in it and upgraded to Pro in a few days. Recently, I got the entire suite of SWAM instruments. This is an awesome app, very well thought out from the musicians’ viewpoint, with tons of options to tweak it according to your needs. This app is especially very useful for Indian musicians all over the world. It allows gamakams/meends, jaaru/ghaseet and all other ornamentations that make Indian music so beautiful. Highly recommended..Version: 5.830.1

Loving this appI’m loving this app, however I’m using a Roland Gr30 guitar processor with a Puc+ midi to control the saxophone sound thru my iphone. Awesome concept, but I can’t get all six strings to recognize, the first string E ,doesn’t play. I can only play on 5 strings but not all six. I’ll keep watching tutorials for an update.Version: 5.915.7.3

Excellent control surfaceVery clever bit of kit this - utterly flexible and adaptable ... does wicked things to baroque ensembles let me tell you :). Pushes the envelope and plenty of scope for more. A big bucket of presets for more synths would be lovely. While aimed at the guitar, String players of all sorts can set things up to feel right at home..Version: 3.7.2

So much for so littleHaving fun! The modeled instruments combined with the GeoShred expressive controls make for total awesomeness..Version: 6.000.0.6.2

A-MazingEven though I own Geoshred, I had to buy this just... because. I'll buy anything from developers I want to support and Jordan et al have come up with one brilliant app after another. Geoshred is amazing, and after the loss of a finger that curtailed my guitar career, a very welcome addition to my sonic quiver..Version: 2.60052

Powerful app, well priced as tryout for Pro, great supportI bought GeoShred Control primarily to check out full GeoShred and what I wanted to be my primary use case (to start): recording MIDI tracks into Garage Band on the same iPad (using a third party app called Midiflow to create virtual ports). Control definitely shows you the performance and operation of the app, you just have to use a synthesizer with it to get sounds out. As it turns out, control of GB iOS looks a bit buggy - but not the fault of GeoShred. I have contacted support about 3 times pre and post purchase and it is extremely responsive. One of the developers actually recorded a video showing him testing out my bug case and showing it's a bug in how GarageBand is handling MPE. I went ahead and upgraded to GeoShred Pro so I could get the built in sounds and guitar modeling to play around with and build my interest in learning the isometric layout (I know a bit of keyboard but little of guitar). I think GeoShred Play might be a better intro to the app than Control unless you have a very specific use case in mind (as I did), but you can get to Pro from either. Appreciate their offering both, I wasn't gonna spring for a $25 app without getting a hands-on sense of whether I'd like using it..Version: 2.6.0056

A very rare talented man in the world. You are blessed with Heavenly musical talents. I can’t compare with anybody for your extraordinary skills and knowledge blended with your research. I am compelled to thank you on behalf of every musician who is using your creations. Thank you once again. -John Manepally..Version: 6.000.0.8.1

A true iOS musical instrumentI bought GeoShred Control to use as a general controller for midi synths in iOS I was so impressed by the way it works and plays that I immediately upgraded to the full version of GeoShred. I have zero regrets. It seems a high price for an app, but this is in fact a complete musical instrument at its fullest level and is worth every penny. It is genius and ingenious in its creation and execution. I highly recommend it!.Version: 3.1.2

My other controllers will gather dustI just stayed up until almost 3AM playing around with this app. I have a few AU plugins (FxPansion’s Strobe and Cypher2, and Madrona Lab’s Aalto and Kaivo) that I was able to control in Logic Pro X. It wasn’t the most intuitive thing to get working (the videos focus more on the Pro version), and I’m still trying to figure out how to make custom assignments to certain AU parameters but, this little app is still super impressive! By the way, I found the best way to get this to interface with Logic Pro X is to connect via Bluetooth. I have both a 2018 iPad (7.5 inch) and MacBook Pro, and they connect flawlessly. It would be great to get more detailed instructions for Control, as they are just kind of the same ones from Pro but, it’s fine. I’ve been able to save myself at least $300 not having to buy a Seaboard.Version: 3.1.2

Not ImpressedUpdate: apparently everything I said below was wrong. So I’m giving them 5 stars and dropping it. The design of the UI for this instrument is very poor. I want to give productive feedback, so I’ve detailed what I think could be improved below: 1. Although the design lacks skeuomorphism (which I think is a good thing), it goes to the opposite extreme: there’s no symbol or metaphor for the user to intuitively recognize. For instance, the “explodey thing” animation that happens on touch input is disruptive. I spent a long time looking at it wondering what it means other than a button press. Does the rotation do something? Do the colors mean anything? If not, why are they there? There are many other examples but this one is the most interesting one. 2. Using the “explodey thing” animation as further example, the animation framerates are low. Like so low it causes a disruption in cognition for me. It makes me wonder if my iPad Pro is having latency issues. All in all the interface is a case study in what not to do. I advise the developer to take time to study the elements of good UX. A complete redesign is very much in order..Version: 6.000.0.8.1

Surprisingly funGlad I bought it. Good sounds and fun to play.Version: 6.000.0.8.1

Fantastic! This is a really great midi control+wonderful music app....very nice and extremely sophisticated....in a good way...thank you. I am loving it more and more everyday..Version: 5.954.1.1.1

Unbelievable sound quality and versatilityI bought Control module first, and realized that no matter the brilliance of the string-like touchscreen interface, without the extra 3D my iPhone offers, the iPad left me (as a not-very-good string player) wanting to use my external MPE keyboard, a new QuNexus Red. So, I sprung for the upgrade to Pro, as well as thre GeoSwam instruments, and could not be happier. What fantastic control, and sounds that impress my professional keyboard player and clarinetist friend. Wow! I have, in flexible order, the trusted ThumbJam, the free Roli 5D app, and the GeoShred, and am only barely scratching the surface of what's available. The MPE works great with the QuNexus, and the combinations are apparently infinite (although I know it's really only a few hundred thousand, probably, with choices-to-the-X power, or such.) I was only feeling limitted by my inability to set the scales up properly (old rookie operator errors, no doubt) and couldn't make them, nor my ThumbJam scales select the minor keys, modes, etc. Then I saw a note on another site that said "Enable MIDI through" setting, et voila. Mind you, all of my time so far has been experimenting with using the GeoShred as a sound module, I guess you'd call it. I do intend to work on the touchscreen interface, scales, modes, and someday the loops and all. For now, it is an elegant, and value-packed part of my intro to MIDI and particularly MPE. I hope to use it as a performance instrument; my iPad, keyboard, and a decent little PA system will fit in a double shoebox volume and weigh less than 20 pounds. Even though I only use, so far, a teeny fraction of its capabilities, I love it! EDIT for UPDATE: Two weeks in; I have gotten more familiar with the settings, and have added 3 GeoSWAM instruments: clarinet, flute, and oboe. They are absolutely beautiful sounding, and have been "worth the price of admission." Coupled with the scales settings on ThumbJam, a magical intro to other worlds of music for me. Thanks! New EDIT for UPDATE: And now, a couple of weeks later, I have been using it with a Striso board MPE controller my friend let me test-fly. I could not be more impressed with the way it integrates with the GeoShred, and in fact the way the GeoShred accepts other MIDI input that actually "fattens" sounds from the very elegant GeoSwam instruments I have purchased (at what to me are very fair prices.) While the GeoSwam instruments are designed to play monophonically and in their own self-limitted octave ranges, no doubt to mimic the acoustic versions, I have discovered that if I choose an instrument in, say, ThumbJam, and then add it as an input to GeoShred, I can "fake" the system into playing a broader range, and polyphonically, too. Amazing power, and still in a "buskable" size with the iPad, Striso, and a little PA system..Version: 5.933.1.1.1

GeoKing!!!My mates here at MoForte, the creators of GeoShred are simply on another level; so where do I even begin to convince you that this is THE app to purchase when it comes to mobile music production? I’ve been using GeoShred for a bit now, since it launched actually - I’ve owned all versions - and my review is a general one so do take into account that there’s three apps and they each have their own place (PLAY is pretty much stand-alone - so it’s the instrument without connectivity with other apps, while CONTROL is an amazing MPE controller to control “external” sounds and finally, PRO is both in one package). MoForte seriously created one if not THE MOST amazing app for iPhone for Music Production. Many would argue this category belongs to HOSTS, like AUM, ApeMatrix, Loopy Pro… etc. While to a certain extent this is true, I would still have to say that when it comes to IPHONE, the king will always be “the Shredder”: trust me, you will have a hard time finding a better tool for Music Production in 2022 than an iPhone XS Max paired with GeoShred - this setup offers this one thing NO new iPhones WILL EVER GIVE YOU —> 3D Touch. 3D Touch + GeoShred = MPE that is pressure sensitive and polyphonic, on your phone (BRO… WOOT?!?)! Seriously, if you care about expressive playing, this is THE TIME to buy a refurbished XS Max, before they simply disappear from the used / refurbished market - I know I will be getting a second one now that the price has gone down drastically, simply to use it as a GEOSHRED CONTROLLER (for real, this is just how good GeoShred is). With an iPhone XS Max on your pocket and GeoShred, you’ve pretty much got one of the most versatile and also the most pocketable MPE controllers out there: How can I explain I sometimes even ditch MY ROLIS for the iPhone? —> YES, that is just how good GeoShred is for MPE, especially on an iPhone WITH 3D Touch. It is so good I have not upgraded my phone in years - as a musician and game developer - I seriously, by far, prefer what the iPhone XS Max has to offer when paired with amazing apps such as GeoShred than the new iPhones “PRO” will ever be able to do; they’re a joke in comparison, nothing pro about them other than the camera (and the chip upgrade, this is undeniable but it’s also obvious and therefore irrelevant under this context), and apps like GeoShred precisely serve to PROVE this. One must also consider all the incredible sound packs available both through GeoShred directly and through other apps such as the magnificent SWAM suite (which honestly plays so much better when controlled via GeoShred than when played via their native SWAM controller, so I would most likely not even use these SWAM apps on my phone at all if I didn’t have the ability to use my phone as both the MPE controller and the “sound box” - I’d just go for the iPad and either “the Phone Shredder” to send midi to it, or an MPE controller). The NAADA collection is amazing, simply brutal… and the SWAM ports that are native to GeoShred are about as amazing as the actual SWAM apps - they do not miss much - some might even prefer them as they are far less cumbersome to control when they are controlled via GeoShred. Seriously, if you own a 3D Touch device you will get out of GeoShred so much more than what you can already see in most videos on YouTube (it’s an amazing controller EVEN without pressure sensitivity; but most users simply do not take advantage of this feature, which to me is THE MOST important feature in the whole app so I gotta make sure to point it out here REPEATEDLY). GeoShred is the most amazing midi controllers if you’re a “string instrument player” - this is NOT an easy category to fill, ask any string player. You simply cannot really emulate the dynamics of such instruments without MPE, and GeoShred is king at this. This, by the way, applies equally as well for wind instruments. It really is a shame Apple removed 3D Touch, as paired with this beauty of an app, it simply was an incredibly revolutionary technology that we will be missing out in the future for sure. So in conclusion…: just get it - you won’t regret it AT ALL. Pat, thank you so much for the amazing app and support - you guys are amazing and are literally game changers to me and many others..Version: 5.936.1.1.1

Cost effective MPE controller, supports 3D TouchI’m using GeoShred Control on my iPhone as a low cost MPE controller. This is probable one of the best apps to show how powerful 3D Touch is. I use it to Control the SWAM Sax on my Mac. I love that pressing into the screen is so expressive.Version: 4.32.4

Wow I can shredYour sounds are excellent so cool the sax with the orba2 is so much fun. Took a while to figure out connection midi needs to be set to Bluetooth and connected. Once up and running shred shred shred very cool. Looking at other instruments. Good stuff Cheers.Version: 5.929.1.2.19
