OmniFocus 3 for Negative User Reviews

I miss the old calendar waterfall view in the Forecast. The new view is next to useless. Too much white space an no visualization of the day's time. They took out a good feature and replaced it with the presentation of an amateur calendar app. I can't see a whole day because there's SO MUCH WHITESPACE! Every version seems to lower the density and it's not an improvement. Many other new things are good. I really miss the old Forecast. It's a pain in the a** to have to keep switching back to v2 for this feature..Version: 3.0.4

I paid top $$ for Omni 2, and now it is banned. This company will take your cash and deny you you the app when they decide it is time for you to upgrade. They refuse to be interoperable and if I had a reason to move my GTD to a new system, thanks OmniFocus 3, this is it..Version: 3.1.5

Ripped offI bought the first OmniFocus a few years back for the hefty price tag of $40, thinking that such an exorbitant upfront cost would come with excellent customer service and updates for years to come. When my app started having some bugs I checked if there was an update that I missed, instead they had made 2 new paid versions since I had updated. I went to upgrade and neither the App Store nor the company acknowledged my first purchase to allow a discounted upgrade and instead directed me to just subscribe. After using it for a few months, I realized that I had now spent another $50 on my subscription. I asked to just commute what I had spent towards owning the app. No love. This company is greedy and although the product is good, they exploit the loyalty of their customers..Version: 3.5.1

OmniFocus 2 upgrade?!!So I bought OmniFocus 2 on my old iPhone 6 a long time ago. I use both the Mac and the app. Just got a new iPhone X and noticed that OmniFocus 2 has been removed from the App Store and replaced with a preorder option for OmniFocus 3. I wait a few days without OmniFocus on my new phone. Then I finally get this new version and it tells me I have to pay to upgrade even though I don’t want to. In other words, this is either a bug in the app that wouldn’t transfer OmniFocus 2 accounts to OmniFocus 3 or this is intentional way for them to make more money! If they make a new app version every year and force you to upgrade the real cost of OmniFocus is $59 a year!! Perhaps this is a the “hidden” subscription model for generating revenue. Very shady!!.Version: 3.0.2

Good app, very poor updateDon’t get me wrong. Everything you heard about OmniFocus still holds. The app is capable and powerful. Unfortunately, since version 2 the competitors changed the playing field a lot. Because of that the app not only looks but also feels extremely dated and old. It feels like using a luxurious car from the 90s. Sure, you can get from point A to B. Sure you have some things that were then considered luxury. But any decent car from 2018 will be much more enjoyable to drive. This app may be good for only showing you the tasks you care about at the moment, but because the UI is so cluttered your cognitive load is actually higher. My advice is to skip this upgrade until more modern features are added and the UI catches up with 2018..Version: 3.0.5

Consistently screwing loyal early customersGreat product - premium you’d say. Which is why it used to cost I believe 29.99 for iPhone and 39.99 for iPad. Yes, separately. Then they added a 3 version but it’s the same app..... the 2 isn’t just there anymore to use they just renamed the app and they initially had a small discount to forcibly upgrade - fine. But now they want monthly payments too? What’s next? I’m swapping to things 3 or will move on to a different product - actual opinion after years of extensive use it had a purpose but you shouldn’t let its purpose be to simply exist it can take insane amounts of time to even properly set it up; it can automate but you hsbe you hsbe to start from the ground up and build this thing and may result in a net-negative..Version: 3.3.6

Long Time OmniFocus SopporterI have been an on and off Omni Focus user for years and spent hours attempting to navigate the steep learning curve. I actually believe the time spent is worth the effort because this is really a good program with one blaring issue. This is supposed to be a scheduling program? The point is putting all this info in a program designed to keep track and keep you from missing deadlines is severely lacking in it’s ability to schedule. Example: One of the things I keep track of repeats every third day after last competition. I’ve used 2Do, Things, etc and they can all do it...the only one that can’t is Omni Focus. The most expensive and complicated of all the GTD programs. You see I need to put 3 days between the day of completion and the next event. This means if I’m late or earlier the next due date must change. (ie 3 days from completion of last event). In fact Omni Focus seems to only be able to handle the most simple of due, repeat or completion dates. So disappointing for the price. I’m now back with Things although it’s really simplistic and I’d rather be with Omni Focus. If I had to chose I’d pick 2Do as the best it’s just really ugly. Really disappointed in Omni Focus and am not interested in using Reminders or some other program to prop up this expensive program..Version: 3.1.7

Needs workI’ve been an OmniFocus user since it was an OmniOutliner Pro addon. I’ve had the same database since the day OmniFocus was announced. I just upgraded to OF3 for iOS, using it on my iPad. I have not used Mac OF3, yet. I am totally confused as to what is a project versus a nested task in this interface. Further, I see a new task button, but it always puts the task in the inbox even though I have a project selected. Tapping +Save creates a new task, which defaults to the Inbox again. Contexts from earlier dbs become tags, immediately devaluing the benefit of tags. At the start, all my tags now have the broad descriptors that contexts required. There is no to remove all tags. Tags can’t be sorted so if you create a handy “today” tag, it’s way at the bottom and you have to scroll. Nested tags are half baked. No support for grouping by nested tags in Perspectives. Refresh progress graphic did not dismiss after sync completed. Inbox shows 1 item but no items available. Removing a tag from a tagged item while in a tagged view causes the item to disappear and focus to be lost before you can add another tag to it. The only solution is to search for it from the inbox. The share button shares a link to data in the app. Why would anyone expect it to do that by default instead of share a perspective’s worth of tasks with a manager or coworker? This is utterly sloppy work. Omnigroup: get serious about the details. You used to be. You no longer are..Version: 3.1.8

Ok but not greatI’ve enjoyed Omnifocus for years now and I was excited to see version 3.0. It looks great, but after using the trial version I’m going to pass. I feel like 3.0 is largely a cosmetic makeover and thus just a cash grab..Version: 3.0.3

Preferred OmniFocus 2I think OmniFocus 3 is a bit of a backwards step and personally preferred version 2 because the presentation of tasks somehow seemed cleaner. It is also a hugely expensive upgrade for a few iterative changes. I would have been happy to stick with OmniFocus 2 but would have had to upgrade to 3 to get support for the latest Apple Watch. I have therefore moved to Things 3 instead which has a nicer interface, provides most of the functionality and is far better value for money..Version: 3.1.4

Quite powerful but full of bugsOmniFocus 3 has a big feature set, but is let down by old design faults, display glitches and weaknesses in the touch interface. For example, there is an archive feature, which could be great, but it removes parts of projects before you’ve completed the whole project. The drag-and-drop is clunky and multiple selection is not as quick as in other apps. Support is very polite, but nothing ever seems to get fixed..Version: 3.8.2

Apparently widgets are a thing in iOS14Pains me to say this as I do like using OF, but having waited what feels like a long time as other task managers put out their iOS14 updates, I was pleased to see an omnifocus update appear in my app list and thought, at last... finally I can add Omnifocus to my home screen custom widget stack. But no, apparently the tent pole feature is the new iOS14 date picker. But most egregiously, the absence of an updated widget is not even mentioned or indicated via a “coming soon” text, as though people will not be puzzled by its absence. Is everything ok at OG? I hope so..Version: 3.10

Beware MAC and OS sold separatelyGreat product that I loved during the trial period where you can sync between all Apple devices. Very disappointed after purchasing the Pro version on iOS that you have to purchase the macOS version separately. Making this a hugely expensive product for what it is if you want to sync across devices..Version: 3.1.4

App never in sync, widget never in syncI’m about 4 months from abandoning OmniFocus for an app with better shortcuts support. At the very least I require a way to keep reminders/items in sync and a way to automatically mark items as complete. OmniFocus shows no interest in offering either of these options. What is the point in a reminders app that you have to open to check if you have any due items. The whole point of setting these items is so I don’t have to check for myself. I want the app to proactively alert me..Version: 3.11.7

Used to be great, now I’m disappointedFor those who choose to buy Omnifocus 3, please read along. I am a fan of the GTD method and Omnifocus is a great cultivation to the idea they adopted from David Allen. However, omnifocus used to be about catering to customer needs, but now, they are out to get your money, promise you a great app but ONLY UNTIL the next version comes app. At which point, they abandon their previous version, and while they don’t force upgrades onto customers, they stop updating the app, the app keeps crashing and customers would be forced to either cough up more money for an upgrade or simply abandon the app. My OF 2 Pro crashes a lot now, although one would expect from having paid a steep price for one app, that it would at least be maintained from a stability point of view, but no, iOS keeps updating and the app remains the same. Yes, OF do offer discounted upgrades to existing customer, BUT, a loyal existing customer would end up be paying more for the next pro version than a new customer. So, if you want to buy it, good luck, and keep your fingers crossed they wouldn’t abandon you for the new OF 4..Version: 3.1.8

Complex doesn’t mean betterThis app is clunky, unintuitive, overly complex and frustrating, doing anything is far too complicated and it’s just not a pleasure to use. It’s annoying that you have to put a time on reviews - I don’t like putting times on anything. I’m also surprised an app this complicated and expensive only has one flag option - I prefer multiple priority levels like in Todoist and TickTick. Can’t add a checklist / subtask within a task, only nested tasks which are frustrating to set up. Having trouble seeing how this could possibly be preferable to either Todoist or TickTick, it is so frustrating and I couldn’t face putting all my tasks in. I just wanted to cry from frustration. Not good when you are just trying to set something up., I think this app is for people who like to spend a lot of time fiddling with their system and adding tasks and don’t actually have anything better to do, but the thing is a good task manager shouldn’t be like that, it should enable you to get on with actually doing things! In other words it is overrated. I’ll be sticking with TickTick..Version: 3.2.3

Powerful but ugly. iOS app is unusableInterface if cluttered and adding tasks is an exercise in frustration. Developer doesn’t appear to care about the UX and there have been no improvements, just bug fixes..Version: 3.2.3

Perfect, except for glitchesI’m downgrading my rating until some things get fixed... - moving actions within a project is glitchy, and in sequential mode, the wrong sequence takes priority and this should not be (Even after moving actions in the project) - sliding tab on the left side does not always respond, and app needs to be closed down and rebooted. - in perspectives, changes dont always take place when deferring projects, and a lot of fenagling has to take place before the change ‘sticks’. Good luck.. you guys almost have the ideal productivity app. Don’t delay! Please! M.Version: 3.1.8

Why do people still pay for this app?It is way more expensive than its competitors while also not being as polished, intuitive and easy to use. UI seems cluttered and a bit outdated. And to my surprise I could not find any unique feature other apps do not have, except maybe "review" perspective. So I'm curious, why would anyone pay OmniFocus subscription nowadays at all?.Version: 3.13.3

Great Product Terrible Licensing StructureUnfortunately I thought I found the app I’ve been looking for, with great features it was exactly what I wanted. I purchased the app after using it for a day. I assumed that I would be able to access my information from the app and my Mac however that’s not true. You will need to purchase the software twice to access the same information cross platform which will cost about 100$ that’s with a student discount. Do yourself a favor and skip this product, don’t allow companies to think it’s okay to license a product like this. You clearly need to be able to access this app cross platform to get any value from it. Don’t nickel and dime your customers, I would and unfortunately did tell everyone I know how great this app was it’s to bad that the business behind it isn’t. I will be sure to retract all of the positive things I told people regarding this app. Why pay full price for something twice....Version: 3.1.8

Resting on laurels - no product owner?Once upon a time, this was a “thank goodness this app exists” product. But having looong ago flagged their horrendous UX drag and drop implementation for re-ordering items in a list view, some year+ later it’s still the kludgy failure of a UX it was over a year ago. I’ve a lot of time for OG but it feels like they don’t have anyone looking after the UX and/or simply don’t value user feedback on what is clearly a deeply broken part of the UX. Throwing them 2 stars here to reflect what is starting to feel an aged product and failing to address a clear problem..Version: 3.3.4

Ripped offRather than adding improvements to existing versions you bring out a ‘new’ version and charge us all again. Thankfully Apple and Microsoft learned that you’ll gain better customer loyalty if they stop charging for these updates to their platforms. If you bring out a completely new product, I’m more inclined to buy it knowing that you won’t bring out another version in 12 months but want to charge me again. You’ve lost a loyal fan..Version: 3.0.3

Excellent but ...This is an excellent app. And we all know App developers need to be paid. However, app developers and apple together are making their products more and more expensive. Ruining Apple one overcharged dollar at a time..Version: 3.1.8

Disappointingly lagging behind the competitionWith the launch of iOS 14 and their Home Screen widgets. I was looking forward to one thing... an OmniFocus widget smack bang at the top of my Home Screen. I don’t have a routine of clicking within the app and scanning through my day for upcoming tasks every single morning. Though having it on my home screen would ensure nothing is ever missed and help me develop that. To me, this would be the icing of the cake. The devs of Things 3 had a widget day 1, usually OmniFocus are absolutely on the ball. They seemed to have dropped in this year unfortunately..Version: 3.9.1

OMGPlease test this app, before publishing and asking money. This app can’t sync my information and the Done button on settings at times doesn’t work. :( what a terrible app! I fallowed “no key in slot n” on Omni website, then I lost all of my data!! Hate you guys.Version: 3.0.5

Great for iPhone, useless for iPad !I am a serious OmniFocus (OF) user and have been for years. I use it compulsively and daily on my iPhone with great satisfaction. As for the iPad version and while I paid enormous price for it (45$), I have to say that I HATE it so much and for one single reason: sub-topics are not collapsable. I cannot hide/unhide the content of sub-topics and this feature is available since day 1 on the iPhone version. I hate it because, every time I use it in my iPad, I surrender and rather go to my computer or my iPhone version because there I will be able to navigate freely in my topics, sub-tooics and sub-sub topics, feature that is not possible in the iPad version. Having used OF to take all my daily notes, it has become loaded with so much information that the ease to access that information freely is crucial and most important. Try to navigate in a deeper level (sub-topics) on your iPad and you will understand what I mean. I have asked multiple times to the developer to include that feature to the iPad version. I was given no serious answer ... only that that was the way it was designed, making me fell an alien requesting for a not so important feature. I really regret giving this evaluation since I like it so much on my iPhone. Maybe time will give birth to this important and crucial feature for serious users..Version: 3.3.6

Great, but let down by one bugI used the original OmniFocus on an iPad 2 but found it so convoluted and unnecessarily complex that I stopped using it and didn’t bother with version 2. However, after reading the reviews for OmniFocus 3 I decided to give it a try. First of all, it’s great to be able to use the app free for two weeks. Secondly, it’s now so much more intuitive and straightforward to use. There is just one irritating bug that needs addressing - that is that occasionally tapping on the new item icon does nothing and the app has to be closed and reopened. I’ve raised this with support and, if fixed, this will be a five-star app. Update: This bug is really getting annoying now - it’s happening almost every time I try to add an item and closing and reopening the app is a pain. This ‘productivity app’ is hindering my productivity! I was way too quick to by the pro version and if this bug isn’t fixed I hope I can get a refund. Anyhow, I’ve passed it to support and I’m hoping for a fix as I like the app in all other respects. Update: well it’s been months since I wrote this review and the bug persists. I’ve stuck with app despite what I said earlier, but would expect better from an app this expensive..Version: 3.1.8

Dated and CumbersomeOmnifocus was the first real productivity app I used on iOS way back in 2011, and it doesn’t look like it has changed much since then. The app does not work well with gestures on iOS and seems to really want to be a Mac-only app (I have no idea how well the web app works), or at least is designed to work best on Mac, with iOS and iPadOS versions not working as well. Creating smart perspectives seems buggy, in that sometimes the right tasks show up given perspective parameters, and sometimes no tasks show up. It struggles with ID’ing what tasks are “available” as opposed to “remaining,” and needs some updating as to perspectives and search. Notes are hidden away when they should be front and center with a task. Setting repeating tasks is confusing, not the least because sometimes repeating tasks don’t become available when they seem like they should. I think other productivity apps have passed Omnifocus by in terms of ease of use, design, and search, especially on mobile and tablet. Improves and Sustains: If I had a prioritized wish list of improvements to Omnifocus, I would recommend improving perspectives, particularly by making them work consistently in the same fashion; I would recommend improving the repeating task functionality; and I would update the design to better use space, as the app looks cluttered. I suppose scripting is something I would sustain, but I don’t really use scripting any more..Version: 3.11.5

Trial version, we got itCan you not have a persistent two inch segment telling the user they have x days left on the trial. We know. Maybe a subtle hint. It has an effect on the impression and adds clutter to an already cluttered Ui..Version: 3.1.5

Awfully buggyThere is no attention to the details. The swipe gestures fall out often, and the buttons don’t work after a while. What happen to the care on this app??!.Version: 3.5.1

Goodbye OmniFocus, hello RemindersAs much as I have invested a tremendous amount of time and money into using OmniFocus, it’s time to let go. Apple’s own (FREE OF CHARGE!) Reminders app will be replacing it. Omni Group just got too greedy by asking for too much money to use the app on multiple devices over multiple version upgrades and they have also over complicated their app to the point where you spend more time in the app than actually Getting Things Done! Goodbye OmniFocus, hello Reminders!.Version: 3.3.6

No longer supporting this ployI have been using OmniFocus since it was a 43 folders template in OmniOutliner. I have purchased both versions of both the OS X and iOS versions. This is expensive software. I can’t keep paying for new versions. It’s also tied me to the Apple platform. Sorry, but I am moving on.....Version: 3.0.4

Need to pay again for pro upgrade?Let me say it clearly: I think Omnifocus is probably the most comprehensive task manager for mac and ios and I gladly payed the pro upgrade for both. I like the omnifocus 3 upgrade, but it is largely tasks instead of contexts, and some tweaks in functionality and UI. What however feels more like a rip-off is that not only a upgrade fee needs to be paid, but I also have to re-purchase the pro upgrade. I would have expected that at least the pro upgrade carries forward to the new version. And I am certain, the same thing will happen with the Mac app once available. For that money, I could (and probably will) switch to another app, like 2do or Things 3. I am sure the developers of omnifocus will claim that OF3 is a completely new app and purchase, but I do not agree and follow that “unlogic”, because this is not a complete redesign of the app. In summary, I like the app and some of the new functions (not sure about events mingled with the tasks). BUT I do not like having to purchase again the pro upgrade. That just does not feel right and existing OF2 pro users should have been appreciated enough to provide this option without an additional fee. Sad..Version: 3.0.3

Glacial development paceWell I provided my last review of Omnifocus 3 in may 2019 or saying how disillusioned I had become with it with its buggy difficult UI. I was disappointed as OF was in essence a great product (I used since version1) able to do many things. When OF2 came out it was a bit of a game changer on IOS but then OF3 .. oh boy it really felt like a product rushed and held together with tape string and glue. I switched over the the wonderful Things3 and after the transition period have never looked back. I really want OF to become great again and have been trialling OF4 beta for wa what seems like ages. Things have definitely improved but so far I have not seen anything that will entice me back and the fact that development seems to be so very very slow is concerning in itself although I guess Covid possibly hasn’t helped much I do wish the Omnifocus team well but have serious doubts that I will be back unless the first alpha release all just comes together in a surprising and happy way.Version: 3.12.4

Are you kidding me!?!? Says free with in App purchasesTHAT IS A BLATABT LIE! YOU HAVE TO SUBSCRIBE TO USE IT FOR MORE THAN 2 WKS. AND IT COSTS $79.99!! This has to be the biggest ripoff on the App store! There's plenty of free apps which do more than OmniRIPOFF!!.Version: 3.2.3

Overpriced if macOS version needed tooPurchase should have been transferable to macOS. Even if the App stores of the two platforms don’t support that, they could automatically e-mail you a macOS license key if you own the iOS version and you request it. I could understand if they expect two purchases as they put effort in making it available to two different GUI systems but I find it overpriced to pay full price for both. They could give discounts to iOS users who want a macOS version too, if that’s the issue..Version: 3.0.5

Great concept but missing critical featuresI have heard all kinds of good things about OmniFocus through reviews and articles. I recently signed up for the trial. I’m glad they offered one - as at the end it wasn’t for me. Things that deterred me to look elsewhere included: 1) The lack of a sync feature either through the web, Outlook, and Windows. I do not have the luxury of having a Mac at my office and it makes it very difficult to manage my task list effectively. 2) Quick inbox entries do not exist. It always opens the standard task dialog. It’s not quick in adding entries. 3) Drag and drop is very difficult to use. It look some luck to sort the list through drag and drop via the iPhone. While Todoist and Things 3 has its flaws, both appear to be better options in terms of quick and easy task management. Pocket Informant also does things similar to OmniFocus, but does so that a $10 discount versus the standard addition of OmniFocus includes other features such as calendar management and contact management. If OmniFocus were to add a sync feature and include an easier way to quickly add tasks, I will give OmniFocus another serious look..Version: 3.1.2

It’s like 1990 againUpdate your interface, you charge a fortune for this app and the UI team are stuck in the 90’s with the design. Big clunky buttons and poor font selection. Total disregard to the resolution available on the modern iPad. OmniFocus is quickly becoming a dinosaur..Version: 3.12.4

Over the cliffOmnifocus has added share sheet functionality to the iPad. You can now add Taskpaper format and raw html wherever you find them useful. Words fail me. As we all deal with the coronavirus pandemic, it is crucial to have effective tools. Life is at once simple and complicated. OF may or may not handle complicated for you, but it definitely doesn’t do simple. People are spending hundreds of dollars on third-party instruction. Omnifocus and I never really clicked, even though I am well-versed in GTD, and have spent more time with it than any other task manager. In principle, it does what I want. In practice, I find it very hard to use. The user interface is needlessly complex, and pulls attention away from your tasks. There are dark corners where the way it works can only be determined by experiment. iOS and Mac versions do not always work the same way. For example, the built-in Flagged views sort completely differently on the two platforms. There is an entire cottage industry devoted to telling people how to use it, and there’s a reason. It is slow, and many features are clunky. Drag and drop is very awkward. I would make it a program of last resort for most people..Version: 3.8

No Widgets. Subscription-based on the horizonOmniFocus design is starting to look long in the tooth, it hasn’t changed in over 4 years. Lately they have been very slow to update for new features in iOS. I love the app, but even after shelling out all of the cash for the iOS app and Mac app, I’m seriously considering switching to one of the many options with more frequent updates that are steadily increasing value. OmniFocus gets updates but only bug fixes. By the way, I get the feeling that they are on the verge of moving to a subscription model for all their apps. If it becomes mandatory for OmniFocus, that will definitely be the last straw. I don’t need another subscription service that adds no extra value. For those who haven’t bought into this app, I say start somewhere else first and wait to see what the next version of OmniFocus is (if you can wait that long).Version: 3.10

Too expensive ... poor value for money upgradeDisappointed with the Omnifocus V3 Pro upgrade. Two issues: I encountered two bugs with an hour of using the upgrade, so still buggy like V2 was. I kept sending in bug reports/feature requests for V2 but they seemed to disappear into the Omni cloud. Same for V3 by the look of it. The cost of the Pro upgrade is too high meaning for me the app is very poor value for money. I won’t even contemplate an upgrade on MacOS. I’m switching to Things V3. Update: the switch to Things has exceeded my expectations. Firstly I have not encountered a single bug, unlike the frequent bug finding I experienced on Omnifocus. Secondly Things allows me to accomplish all my tasks in a much smoother frictionless way than Omnifocus. It’s like it’s designed by task managers not programmers!.Version: 3.0.5

Was amazing but lately…I have used Omnifocus for YEARS and it has always been my go to. It has always bee 5 stars, however for the last few months, it takes FOREVER to load on my phone and frequently freezes or shuts down while I’m using it. It also isn’t syncing reliably with my other devices. If this keeps up I will have to look for a new program to use. 😢. I can’t sit for 3 minutes for it to load to be able to add something or check it off! Please fix! 🙏🏻.Version: 3.14.2

Need due tasks displayed in system calendar back!!It’s very messy ..when I have to use both calendar and OmniFocus to check my schedule in a large perspective . Besides, the forecast function in OF is lame .. It needs to show more information ahead not just one week ..Version: 3.2.3

Has potentialI switched from Alloy Tasks to Wunderlist because I need a Todo application that lets me share tasks and syncs reliably (Alloy’s downfall, sadly). Wunderlist is pretty good, but I would prefer a more sophisticated application. I do check out OmniFocus periodically, and I may switch over if it ever supports shared tasks..Version: 3.1.8

Aging and expensiveAt one time this app was considered the best for GTD. Now it’s dated in both its appearance, sync mechanism, and price. How long will people keep paying the price because of legacy software? If Omni wants to stay exclusive to Mac/iOS, then switch the sync over to iCloud, or hire coders who can develop cross platform and modernize your apps. The only reason to stay with this slow and dated sync system is to say you’re exclusive in some way and charge (exorbitantly) for web access. I remember when Blackberry insisted people still wanted physical keyboards on their devices despite all the evidence to the contrary. As a long time OF user as well as more recently Todoist, Things, and TickTick, you can really see how Omni is resting on their laurels and falling behind the competition quickly..Version: 3.4

Badge Count Doesn’t Work ProperlyI spent £36 on this application and yet the badge count does not work properly. OmniFocus support have confirmed that the badge does not refresh in the background when tasks become due. You have to manually open the app to trigger a refresh. An expensive lesson. It is apparently on their feature list but please be aware if this is important for you. I no longer use the app..Version: 3.8.2

问题使用家庭共享以后,这个app能不能免费使用那些需要付费的功能.Version: 3.4.2

Making me pay againI like this app. But I spent a decent amount of money on it just a few years ago. Now I am told it’s discontinued and I have to buy it again. Its disappointing. I guess they need to make money too, but try to get new customers rather than tax your existing ones. The app market doesn’t work like old software did and I don’t feel good about having to rebuy effectively the same product twice. Had I bought the product a year later I would have only had to buy it once. If I buy this new update, how long until it’s no good?.Version: 3.13.3

Money GrabDefinitely sick of the constant forced upgrades (my devices no longer synch so it is forced). I think I’ve paid for this app two or three times, but no fourth for sure. Despite all the upgrades it doesn’t do a whole lot more for me than the original. Just enough change to try to justify having existing customers pay again, and again, and again. I’m in the market for simple new GTD software..Version: 3.6

Too expensive for only a year or 2I paid $50 for OF2 and now it’s gone since I switched phones. It’s like it never existed. What a scam. I thought APPLE only allowed apps that didn’t scam their customers. Don’t buy it. It’s not worth it..Version: 3.4.2

Great features and stable - shame the UI is so datedSo much to like. However, the interface is so frustrating on the iPad and mobile - makes you want to not nest any projects. Also looking ugly, like windows software from the 90s. I had high hopes for OF4 but the Beta is far from promising. They really understand time management but just can’t seem to crack the UI. That’s why I use things, so I can actually use my task manager on the go..Version: 3.13.1

CrapBloated and expensive.Version: 3.8.2

No moreI have loved this software in conjunction with GTD system but I am so not continuously paying for what is essentially an update. I will be deleting this app from my phone and iPad so I can find software I pay for once only.Version: 3.2.2

BuggyJust upgraded to v3 & instantly regret, not much new for how much they want but more importantly is it is buggy as hell. Never had a problem with the old app but now it just gets stuck & I can’t go back so I have to shut down & restart the app. Keep finding little features that are now missing & make it worse! Can’t believe I’ve just paid to make my app worse 😢.Version: 3.1.8

Powerful App, Can Use Anywhere! (Runs on arms and a legs)I love the app, but have a love/hate relationship because of the pricing and portability. They seem to be going the way of SaaS, which I think will drive away most people. It’s great that they can now differentiate themselves from many, not all, of the other ProdApps by supporting web-based access. But the pricing seems to just be getting worse. There’s a lot of loyal customers out here who have shelled out for the IOS and MacOS apps, upgrades, and now with the introduction of a subscription model for both the apps and webapp, I really don’t think I’d consider spending any more when there are totally free, totally portable options limited only by the number of simultaneous projects! It’s hard not to feel milked as an OF customer. Of course, If there were other OS versions available, they would all each cost another $50. Update: Thanks for responding, I’ve always had good experiences with sales and support. I understand that has been the official argument over the years, the problem is that this is something that your competition is able to do more and more often. The inability to meet customer needs, whether technical or financial, will not be met with endless loyalty when there are other, seemingly more hospitable options out there. I really want to see OF succeed, it’s a better product. But the validity of that argument is fading fast..Version: 3.3.4

SlopwareI’ve used OmniFocus on the desktop for many years and generally like it, in spite of how overly complex it is. I use it on my iPhone constantly too and have learned to live with all its bugs and weird/confusing behavior. The Apple Watch app should be handy to keep you on task with what you have to do. But it is worthless because the complication that is supposed to show you your due task count always displays the wrong count. Sometimes zero, sometimes 1 or 2 or 17 but never the number of tasks you’ll see if you tap it. This has been this way for over a year – check out their support forums for all the bugs with the watch app that they don’t bother to respond to, let alone fix. I spent several days with their condescending tech support (after waiting 2 weeks for the first response) and had to answer the same questions over and over before they decided that it’s Apple’s problem and told me they’ll fix it when they get around to it and that I should go away. It’s surprising no one can make a good Todo app but save your money and use one of the simpler and less expensive ones. It won’t be great either but it’ll be less annoying than OmniFocus..Version: 3.1.5

Too expensive for a humble updateI have a feeling the developer abuses the loyalty of their customers. I love the app’s decency but not the way I have been used. Again, too expensive for a humble update..Version: 3.0.3

Absolute rip off, constant money grab for updates and different machinesOnce upon a time we could buy a piece of software and updates would be free or at least a reasonable cost every 5 yrs or more - and you could use it on more than one device. Here we have the modern cash-grab model. Buy an **expensive** licence, then buy it again for another device. Then pay for an upgrade a few months in. Then pay for another upgrade, then pay for another upgrade - or “subscribe” and just keep paying and paying. No more, bye bye Omni..Version: 3.14.2

Don’t bill me!It seems I was stymied at the first hurdle - you don’t get to try the standard *and* pro, it’s either or, and if you don’t want it, then you can’t seem to remove it from your purchasing list. About to complain to Apple..Version: 3.1.8

Continue to be disappointed....I have used OmniFocus on and off for a number of years. However I recently switched to Things 3. I really wanted Omnifocus 3 to work and be a worthy competitor to Things. Unfortunately for me it just isn't. Things 3 is far far superior and much more easier to use. For example in Things to move something out of the Inbox I just need to assign any field eg a start or due date. Omnifocus I have to classify an item giving it a pseudo project. At the end of the day it depends on your workflow but at the moment, Omnifocus is totally outgunned by Things 3..Version: 3.2

Good product; awful companyLove their products but let’s face it - a pretty odious company. Apps are undoubtedly overpriced but that’s not where the gripes lay. It’s the persistent squeezing of cash from their customers that really grates. Slight change in the aesthetic? Afraid that’s another 30 quid and your licenses up to this point are redundant. ‘The most radical overhaul yet’ - ie adding tags and a few other small features - another 30 quid lads..Version: 3.0.5

Why did my critics disappear? Please upgrade the UIUX of your app version please it’s catastrophe.Version: 3.12.4

Used to be a life saverThis app was amazing, for years. It had various missing functions but it was solid and I used it daily. At some point a few months ago something changed and it required a long-ago-created log in, that I couldn’t remember or access (it has an arcane two-different-login system), and I was busy (duh, that’s why I use it) so I let it go and reverted to paper lists. I keep missing it though (paper lists are ok but not enough), so I tried getting back in again - but found it was crashing. So I ran the update - and still, crashing. As in, it’s up for ten seconds and then closes itself. Completely useless. So I’m about to go find myself a new GTD app. Sayonara, Omnifocus..Version: 3.1.7

Oh my goodness.First of all it took me TWO tries to get in, because the first try didn’t allow me to fill in password, and then after that I then realise I only have a trial straight away, and it isn’t even available to use for free, except if your using that trial. At least there should be a feature which allows you to use it free for however long you want, but there is pro features, like most apps, but it just hooks me into the TRIAL. not good enough..Version: 3.11.7

No map view - pointless upgradeWasted almost £30 - lacking the map function which is vital for me. Of course I should have tried before buying but I would never have thought that such a key feature would be missing from this 'upgrade'. Bought the pro versions of 1 and 2 plus Mac so very disappointed that now I can't have a refund on this app which is useless for me. Fair enough, I won't have any more to do with Omni..Version: 3.0.3
