✓ Can only import samples under 2MWish I’d known this before purchasing but this app will not import samples over 2M. Unfortunately that means most of my original samples. No problem doing that with the several other granular synth apps I use. Otherwise the presets are excellent and the UI is easy to grasp yet deep in possibilities..Version: 1.5.0
✓ Superb granular synthI have to say I find granular synthesis much more interesting than FM, additive etc., although it's worth noting that FRMS combines both granular and FM in one app. It just seems to offer more sonic possibilities for the type of music I like to make, which tends towards the ambient and experimental. I've got a few granular synths on iPad but FRMS is by far the best: it's easy to use but has lots of layers if you want to manipulate sounds, the interface is really nice, and the presets are phenomenal. One thing I've yet to play around with is importing my own sounds, field recordings etc, but I'm looking forward to trying that. If I have one tiny criticism it's that I'd like to be able to preview the sounds from the sound packs in the store. Like "Sounds of Saxophone Pack 2", yeah I get that it'll feature saxes but a 30 second second preview with examples of the sounds would help a lot when I decide what to purchase. Having said that I bought the guitar pack without hearing a preview and it's great 😄 Phenomenal synth, worth every penny..Version: 1.10.0

✓ This is Incredible!I expected a lot from this app given the pedigree of these developers, and boy did they deliver! From the 4 layers of granular sound sculpting, to the magnificently intuitive interface, to the beautiful GUI. All outstanding. The more I play with this the more I appreciate its sophistication and artful design. It also comes with a large collection of presets so you wouldn’t really need to roll your own if you weren’t inclined. I just bought the newly added Suprameja Music Cinematic preset collection and it’s vast and beautiful. I learned how to create my own fairly easily, but I’ll be exploring presets for months to come. ✓ Endless creativity!Firstly, thanks to the developers for adding Apple Pencil support - it is really useful to some of us! Secondly, the app! Wow! Had a chance to use it last night and the sonic potential of it is mind blowing. If you’re into drones, soundscapes and sonic textures this is a fantastic synth. I use samples and then manipulate the sounds to produce soundscapes to improvise over. In this app I found everything I need - it seems to combine the best of many other apps and move into new sonic territory. ✓ Great granular appI use a lot of different synth apps and granular is something that I have recently gotten more involved with. I have all of Imaginando’s apps and each one is amazing to work with. FRMS stands out from most of the granular I have used with ease of use and the different add-on packs as well as being able to drop in my own samples and the continuity of creation with the desktop app where I can pick up where I left off on my i-devices..Version: 1.10.1
✓ Great granular synthThis synth is an interesting and great evolution of granular synthesis. It’s up there with the greats! (Apesoft apps). I love it (in my opinion it’s a better conceived synth than DRC). BTW, I use my pencil to tweek and adjust settings and it works fine. Don’t understand what the other guy complains about. ✓ Amazing sounds but output issues?This sounds amazing. One of the best synths for atmospherics and pads and drones. Really like it. However, it doesn’t work with my Bluetooth headphones? Only when I wire them in which is really strange. Also, I can’t get it to work with my MPK mini which is also really strange! I can’t see what I’m doing wrong or if there is a problem with the app. All my other iPad synths just work with Bluetooth headphones and my controller..Version: 1.0.6
✓ Needs optimization, but a great startThe way this app knits granular, analogue modeling, and FM with full layering, solid filters, good secondary modulation, and MPE shows confidence and ambition. The implementation is well realized, within certain limits, and the results have a compelling general sound. FRMS performs well as a standalone, and my less-intense patches leave some processor power for outside processing. That brings me to the core problem with the app. In its current form, as the developers warn, FRMS gets processors glowing hot, gobbling bandwidth and battery in short order on the kinds of crazy patches I enjoy setting and playing. This extends far enough down the complexity chain that it really needs addressing. The processor load limits how the synth can be used both internally and when we record. Maybe a little break from the code and then a fresh look will give you more ideas on how you can do things in ways that would be less taxing on processors. In my coding days, time would sometimes allow me to see a function here or there - often seemingly simple things - that could be restated in ways that had huge performance benefits. I hope something can be done. It would be great to use FRMS to full potential. This synth is beautiful, all the same, in its sound and patching flexibility. Anyone with an IPad Air 2 or later would do well to buy it right now. On features, people can always come up with perceived failings, suggestions, and wishes. The developers had a well-formed vision here, so mostly any feature comments fall into wishing - nice-to-have but not critical points. Like easy octave shifting on the on-screen keys - the slider is good to set the range, but awkward for performance. Two buttons - plus or minus an octave while preserving the slider’s note range - would help with mobile play. The FM functions could benefit from better user control of interactions among the oscillators and useable access to the amount, mix, ratio, and index for each oscillator being used. For the sake of the UI simplicity the developers clearly sought, the extra controls could be hidden on a secondary screen for optional opening. The extra control need not change the processor cost for generating FM sound, but the control would give more choice as to which FM sounds get made. I include these things and go on at length because (a) I have a moment and (b) the synth is worth it. There are little things beyond the processor-demand issue people may find to grumble about. For a new release on this platform, however, FRMS is a big deal - it carves out its own space in a crowded synth market and does so at an attractive price. There is a lot to like here..Version: 1.0.0
✓ IOS sure spoils the creativity junkiesThis thing slays. Don’t be intimidated by it, ignore the nitpicking reviews, and don’t let thoughts ruin the experience. Dive right in and enjoy the ride. First timers or wise sages this synth has reward. If you enjoy messing with sound or mastering frequency or whatever the deal you got going on….. this synth is fun, adventurous, and just sexy. This app tech has been a gift, it’s cheap, capable, and with all the criticism and nitpicking reviews most developers really develop the heck out of them. Good times. So yeah, I dig it, I bet cash money you may as well(cash money is metaphorical but creating cool audio is not with this bad boy on your pad). The glitch’s from the heart pack sold separately is particularly cool to me because I dig making Autechre/skinny puppy type tracks and taking the presets and tweaking them about gives me great foundation for otherworldly IDM/glitch/hip hop tunes. ✓ Amazing synth with some interface issuesGreat synth, looks complex but is in practice very simple to work with. My only gripe is that the UI is not optimised for ipad. I would like to see in future updates - Ability to close chords panel, maybe put it on the tabs so we can view a different element instead And i just wanna be able to grab and swipe the index markers on the waveform display, could that be implemented? ✓ StunningAs someone who loves drones, atonal noises, and granular soundscapes I literally couldn’t ask for anything more than this extraordinary soundmachine, honestly I could make an entire album using just this synth alone, thank you so much for bringing this to us out here in the iOS music community. HOWEVER, I have to plead with the developers to somehow make it less CPU intensive! One session of it in AUM with just a few other apps and effects was pushing my 128gb 2018 iPad to the very limit, which is a real shame and hence the 4 stars only. ✓ Drone LogicExcellent app, very easy to use and sounds great. Ideal for all sorts of things, but I appear to create mostly ambient drones. Couple of things I would like to see in future updates. I would like all the controls to be on the matrix especially ‘tune’ for subtle warping. Sounds like the random buttons are more ‘jitter’. I would also like to see a sort of sequencer mode in the modifiers section, something that identifies the transients, or dropping transient markers and making sequences out of them. A zoom function to the waveforms would be welcome also. Other than that top work. Love it..Version: 1.3.1
