✓ Changes not for the betterWhen I first began playing this app the rewards were much higher. The odds have definitely dropped to where it lands on the lowest reward more than 75% of the time. When it does land on hints or the lightning bolt it rarely carries over to the next round. Once it lands on hints and you have doubled the hints it will freeze the reward so you can never increase it beyond 6. That freeze will last through the next 2 rounds of 8 spins. Even the bonus wheel has gotten stingy. There have been times when I had 6-10 accumulated spins and it either landed on the lowest reward or a puzzle piece worth 5 points EVERY time. Since nothing doubles on the bonus spins you really don’t gain much more than regular rounds. Bonus wheel did not originally have ads between each spin. You have already watched multiple adds to earn those bonus spins. Once I use up the points I have accumulated I will be deleting this app..Version: 6.2.7

But A game that keeps me coming back. I’ve been playing it for well over a year. It’s kept me engaged. Particularly before bedtime when I find a couple of round conducive with a good nights sleep. ✓ Word LifeI like playing this game the only problem I have with it is when you complete the crossword grid you have to watch a 30 second ad then you complete another crossword grid then you have to watch another 30 second ad and so on and so on. ✓ Good fun but very frustrating and disappointingThis starts of well but encounters many glitches which make it very frustrating when playing. The wheel has never in all my 600 games yielded any of the 2 highlighted bonuses. The wheel will also spin backwards. Freezing mid game, screen going blank for several minutes then completely closing down. Chance to double rewards is ok but also has glitches causing the loss of reward. ✓ Word LifeGreat fun game. However, there needs to be improvements in a few areas. The words found by player but are not in puzzle have a very annoying indicator sound. The reward collection for bonus words pauses the game interrupting my concentration and the prize of 20 coins is minuscule. The ads for spinning the wheel often have disappearing Xs to close them out result in having to close out the app and lose the reward earned. The ads have also gotten way too long. 10 second ads should be the max and they should end automatically. I haven’t used this method to gain spin the wheel rewards for hints since. Once the coins and hints accumulated in the past before these issues surfaced run out it will be the end of the line. I will delete the app and discontinue play at that point..Version: 5.6.0
✓ 45 Second Ads! Arrrgh!!If you enjoy your Apps to be of the 45 second's variety then this is the app for you. None of those pesky quick 15-20 second ads or standard 30 second delays here, no sirree! A good old full blooded saga of an advert awaits you. So, if you don't normally get the time to enjoy some of those old favourite distractions such as watch paint dry, watch the grass grow or read war & peace then boy you're in luck! This feast of lengthy ads will be an absolute dream! Enjoy! ………………….. Update: So the developers posted a response to my review. It would perhaps mean a little more if it weren’t the same pre-scripted response that goes to everyone that has this gripe. It means you are not really listening. ✓ Ads annoyingAll of a sudden since level 44, ads pop out in the middle of your quest and if you close it, prompt you to watch a video. This is very frustrating, breaking your concentration. I don't mind the ads after each level but in the middle while you trying to concentrate? ✓ RedundantOn the “Spin the Wheel” part I repeatedly get $25. I got 1000 only one time, so NO it ISN’T random.I believe the game uses the same groups of letters/words repeatedly. And, there are acceptable words that the game does not have. There is a method to add words but it us not user friendly, too many steps. Better to have a touch icon to add word and definition on the playing screen. That takes you to an entry screen then 1 touch back to playing screen. Tournaments can be won by guests without having a profile. I believe tournaments should be guests or profiled not combined in the same tournament. I like that the trivia game now will give answers if you are wrong. I like the different tile backgrounds you can select to see the words/letters easier. I like that the playing screen back ground changes and that there are easy puzzles interspersed with harder puzzles. Also, if there is a word on the bottom row of the puzzle your proposed spelling blocks that row from sight. ✓ TilesI absolutely love playing Word Life. The only thing that bothers me is I have no idea what to do with the tiles I keep winning. Whenever they come up as a reward I just ignore them. I can’t find anything that tells me what they are for. I guess I could care less about changing things up on the playing board, otherwise great game. ✓ Good, mostlyIt’s a fun game, until you have to guess words that are not in the average vocabulary: foulard, prosody, or torpid. This happens often enough to be frustrating. The game is inconsistent in its rewards. Sometimes I will watch a video to earn 25 coins, but at the end of the video, there is no reward. In spinning for rewards, I may earn a hint or lightning bolt, but the reward never shows up. The latest version, 5.3..3, is still riddled with ads. Sometimes they pop up while you’re in the middle of your game. You can’t seem to pause long enough to take a breath, and another ad pops up. There are a few ads that refuse to return you to the game. It takes over 10 minutes before it releases you back to the game, if you’re lucky. Sometimes I just reinstall the app instead of waiting to be allowed back in the game. Maddening and frustrating. There’s a particular advert which doesn’t play on my device, so every time it comes on (which is often) my screen just goes black & I can’t get out of the advert, so I have to close the app completely and start again, which wouldn’t be so frustrating if the ad wasn’t constantly showing. I’ve also had instances of seeing ads I find inappropriate when playing with my child, so I wish there was some sort of feature to be able to block certain ads. ✓ Ads with a bit of gaming and crashingGame could be fun for a bit of time before the constant ads and random crashing and exiting out of the game makes you want to pull your hair out. The ad placement is repetitive, inappropriate, and overwhelming. When trying to compete in crossword against other app users the app decides right before the match starts to pull up an ad that you cannot exit unless you close the app, thus guaranteeing a loss against your opponent. The excuse of “advertising allows the game to be free” was permissible several years ago when apps knew how to space them out appropriately. When you have an ad upon opening the word search app, after every level, between extra ads, and to earn more coins, it’s now become more ads then games. If they toned it down with the stupid commercials for gardenscape and homescape and fishscape and whatever other scape and worked on their issues with the regular crashing this could be a lasting game. ✓ Aggressive AdsOf the word games of this type, this one has the best dictionary so far, accepting so many legitimate words the other games don’t even acknowledge as existing. The level progression is great, and the personalization is a nice addition the others lack. However, I don’t know if a recent update went out and changed things, but the ad push has gotten so aggressive I had two ads start in the middle of one game while I was finding words. There’s an ad every time I reopen the game from looking at any other app, half the time there’s an ad immediately following a completed round. I get that ads are supporting the free experience and that if I want them all to go away I can pay for it. I was 100% fine with the ad frequency before, because the ad breaks weren’t invasive and made sense. Now they’re so aggressive I can’t enjoy the gameplay or the elements I find so much stronger than the other options. If the ads could be toned back down—not removed, just not as invasive—I’d happily add more stars. But I can’t play the game now..Version: 5.2.0

✓ Pretty goodI like the game. It’s pretty good. However, on the add it showed a word quiz. I wanted the quiz and not the word. I find it a little unfair, but I still like it. It’s also challenging which I kind of like in games. There’s so many adds though. Another thing I find annoying is that when you go back in a level that you passed, it’s shows no work or words. I even doubt that the “no adds” thing works. I found out that it takes forever to get stars to save an animal. I find the game a little annoying but it is kind of fun and challenging. ✓ Ok....This is free to play but the ads get very intrusive so I paid the one off price which was a bit more than expected but we have played this a lot and there are many levels so that one off price I can justify to myself. What I am really finding annoying now is the constant pushing of micro transaction which are really over priced and frankly worthless, when if you do get really stuck google is always an option. The game its self is a fun distraction which can be picked up and put down when you have a free moment, some words are really repeated from game to game and seem to always have a place on the board which can become a bit predictable, also variations of the same word appearing on the same board feels very lazy sometimes with the letters that have been provided..Version: 3.3.3

✓ Could be a good mind workerAs usual with all word games they start off fairly easy but then become increasingly more difficult. That’s great and what I signed up for however challenge increase turns into weird. To clarify as you progress to higher levels you start getting words that aren’t found in the dictionary. Because of this I went out and got the latest and greatest dictionary for nothing because the words were not to be found. A problem experienced from the start is many times it won’t accept the correct word. This of course ends up being your last word to complete. This now puts you at the end of the road so as a last resort I try the correct word again and it takes it. That’s what I mean by weird which takes on frustration leaving me contemplating on flushing the app. The last thorn in my buttocks is that stupid pig. Paying to release coins you already earned is not my gig. In summary this is what I mean by “could be a good game” because these problems appear to be correctable and I suspect intentional. ✓ Designed for American PlayersI’m really enjoying this game. I like the variety, and love the grammar sections. My only complaint is that the questions in the ‘Spin the Wheel quiz’ and the grammar and trivia quizzes are aimed at North American players. In British English, trouser suit is correct. I’m British English and feel like a foreigner; at a disadvantage. It would be good if you had a British English option, or make the questions less American specific. There are also some irritating inconsistencies; for example contractions such as bro are allowed, but other English words are rejected. I think you could do with a British member or two on your development team, to widen your appeal, or remove the America specific questions, particularly about the television channels. I cannot work out how the scoring works; it’s a mystery to me. I do pretty well though, by guessing from the given letters. It’s good for the concentration..Version: 6.2.3
✓ New formatThe new format is not good. 30 seconds long “ads” which in many cases is the same 1 second animation repeated over & over again, followed by 5 seconds of a “Get” screen is not going to keep me playing your game. Also it has become impossible to mute the music. The mute button does not work and it often reVerts to the “Get” screen. The controls to set volume do not work either. ✓ Buyer bewareI downloaded this game expecting a falling word search but it is nothing like the ad for the game. I have played many levels and done the daily puzzle and grammar challenges and participated in an event to hopefully find the game I was looking for but have still not encountered the advertised game. Ads constantly pop up and interrupt game play and whilst I expect some ads given free play this is beyond any other free game I am playing and makes the experience very frustrating..Version: 5.6.0
✓ Different to the teaserI clicked on a game that looked like it had grammar quizzes. Where is that? This is just another word guessing game, similar to crossword style without the clues. I’m so tired of the ’teaser’ being completely different to the game. Having said that, I quite liked the background pictures so I’ve continued to play the game. I enjoy the fact that the ads aren’t too constant, like in many other games. However one feature I HATE is that every certain number of words you get added points for bonus words. However when this happens every time it takes you out of the game and you have to click back into it. I lose my train of thought and my strategy that I was working on. ✓ Expensive AddictionThe game is fantastic! I have two major problems with it. One: it introduces you to hints & ways to earn extra coins & such, & then if you want to use perks like that later, there is a pretty hefty charge for them. Another is the background images. There are a lot of water images. They are beautiful. And I feel stupid saying anything, but water sort of terrifies me. So, I get a lot or anxiety when I play the game. If it were entirely free, or the cost were not so expensive, I would like it much more. Also, some of the words are just ridiculous. Even if they are real words, there are many that simply aren’t used in practice, even by fancy folks. But more than anything else, I’d like to be able to choose my background. If I could choose the background, this would be a 4 star app. If I could choose my background, & didn’t have to pay so much for the fireflies, it would be a 5 star app..Version: 6.1.1

✓ WT HECK.Just got this a couple of days ago when a friend suggested it after I mentioned I was becoming bored with another similar game. I enjoyed playing this one for a couple of days until suddenly the ads became waaay too frequent. But then last night the whole game got weird, then unplayable. Literally. Some really stupid song clips (that idiot Bieber and some Gang I’ve never heard of) kept popping up, but you have to endure them for several seconds before you can hit the stop button. I thought that was bad enough, but then a Word Life cartoon screen appeared with the repeating words, “Relax and enjoy the game…”. Over and over with no way to escape. This morning, I rebooted my iPad, opened Word Life and it immediately went to the same screen. Grr. I deleted the game, d-loaded it again. Same thing. I quit. Too bad, too, because I was enjoying it..Version: 6.1.2
✓ Great game, shame about the spin scamOn the free spins to win points or clues you will not win the gold prizes no matter how accurate you are. I’ve hit the 1000 points many times but it always jumps to a low prize which is very annoying. Apart from that I do enjoy the game which helps to improve your spelling and vocabulary, 3 stars given based on the spin being a con, otherwise I would give a 4/5 stars. ✓ Why piggy bank?I used to like this game until piggy bank was introduced. I honestly have no idea what you were thinking with this one and who thought this was a good idea. I can't even earn coins cuz of this stupid thing which really drives me through the wall. Basically they made it so you have to pay for what you earn during the rounds. I was finally glad when I saw the piggy bank was finally being removed but NOOOOOO! You decided to redecorate the stupid thing! Like what's the actual point? ✓ Don’t get promised rewardsI had been very much enjoying this game, but... their cust support & issue resolution process is sadly lacking. The ads between games can get annoying so I was happy to occasionally complete surveys to earn ad free play. I did that often. Sometimes earned up to 24 hours ad free for 5 minute surveys. Then one day saw a longer survey (was told it would take approx 15 mins for 124 hours ad free play). Seemed worth it. The survey took nearly an hour but would’ve still been worth it except I only received 2 hrs ad free. I contacted the support team. I sent screenshots proving that I had supposedly been awarded (but never received) the 124 hours. After 16 days and many many messages I was told that I shouldn’t have been promised more than 2 hrs ad free & they would not be honouring that commitment (I’ve had more than 2 hrs multiple times). Pretty poor. Whatever happened to honouring promises which are made in writing & proven with evidence? Really shoddy. Anyway, although I WAS enjoying the game this has understandably left a bad taste in my mouth. I think I’ll be finding another..Version: 4.4.3

When you hit the ‘double rewards’ it goes to an ad which just never opens and you’ve lost the reward as well as doubling it. ✓ I’m so upsetThe game itself is good even though the grammar challenges are becoming repetitive. It appears to me that the prize wheel is definitely skewed towards the lesser prizes. If it were true, then it should land on the other prizes with as much regularity as it lands on the lesser prize s. In my experience another big problem is your choice of adds, especially those of sexual nature, the ads that drone on for more than one minute and those that go into a loop and from which you cannot exit.
