✓ Disappointing but goodFirst I’d like to say a nice chilled game with nice graphics and a nice story and characters. When I first played the game I was learning what things were for what etc but then once you understand the concept and how the game operates it quickly loses appeal. The game is free to play but with any free game you get bombarded by offers constantly the good thing about this game is no adverts BUT My mum and dad also play the game they were able to watch videos to get gems which is a common thing across all games to earn money but when it isn’t implemented properly and most people can’t use the feature either compensate them or add or fix the problem but I could never watch the videos so I was left with no gems while my mum and dad were getting gems daily. So I contacted support more than once but no reply so either they just ignore problems or they just care about money. Make your own mind up but if you don’t mind getting shafted go ahead..Version: 1.15.1501
✓ Keeps freezing and I have to delete and reload on my iPad.Please advise why this game keeps freezing Crashed 4 times in an hour. ✓ Waste of moneyIt is hit and miss whether or not you’re going to get the barrel of crystals that you pay for! I have asked to be refund either the crystals I am owed or a refund for my money for the times I did not get the crystals I paid for. The other reviewer‘s are correct it’s a great game in till you get so far and then if you don’t purchase the barrel of crystals you’re stuck and it takes multiple multiple attempts to pass levels. I am beyond frustrated for not getting the crystals that I pay for and then having them tell me “not eligible for a refund“. I really like the game but wish the customer service would actually check into whether or not the game is providing as what we’re paying for so that they can see they did not provide us what we paid for.I cannot recommend this game! ✓ Don’t get unless you intend to spend moneyThe game starts easily to get you interested but soon gets to the point where it is impossible to complete levels without aids that you need to buy with jewels that you buy from the bank. ✓ Worst cheating company in gaming everIf the game wasn’t hard enough (which I enjoy the level of difficulty) the game is a money grab which I played around and got up to level 78 without submitting to the pay pay pay aspect of the game. But it is the CHEATING of the game that put me over the edge. Yes you have to play level after level to get any rewards at times. But when you win tools and try to use them the game puts them in the MOST useless positions and at times puts them in places you can’t even use them. How about rewarding good game play. NOPE no rewards for you just cheat cheat cheat. You set up this move to compliment that move and the game screws you it does not reward good play. It at times, even when you clear a column will have put or let a block fall that isn’t supposed to be there. You know because you just cleared the column. So I am so tired of the cheating that G5 games does that I will tell all my friends to NEVER play theses games. ✓ Crashing gameI really like the game , but recently the game crashes out, either during place, or worst still at the so I lose gifts, the support team have come back to me to say they are aware of the problem, but it’s now getting so frustrating , I’ve no option but to delete the game. ✓ How disappointing!I started playing this game and was finally enjoying a match game. It asked me to review it quickly but I waited because other games would do the same and then get impossible hard. I had hoped that this game wouldn’t, but I was wrong. Now the game makes it almost impossible to win..constantly “hinting “ that I need to use the special helpers..that cost $$. I understand that but some people can’t afford to buy their way through games. Also, (and THIS is what’s really troublesome) if “I” can see when a game is (do I say RIGGED?) set up to keep you from winning then you’ve ruined what could have been fantastic! ✓ Overall Plan?It would be helpful to understand the plan or idea of what l’m meant to do in the village. I’m just plopped there with minute description & told to line up 3 of this or 4 of that. There’s no real cohesive gameplay here. And very importantly, the explanations & scrolls are much too tiny for small screens. Nothing takes the fun out of a game like having to stop and get a magnifying glass to read instructions. On the small displays then, I’d have the instructions cover the field so they can be read. And don’t “time out” the player by only displaying it briefly; wait until the player presses ok, done, or next before moving on to the next screen or ending it altogether..Version: 1.1.104
✓ Started out good, but...This is just like so many of G5’s games. Survivors the Quest was the only exception and they seem to have stopped providing updates for that one, as well as several others. In Jewels of Rome once you progress to level 3 in a location it starts getting stupid hard and after that forget about it if you don’t want to spend big bucks for tools or waste your energy allotment and time trying to complete a quest. Plus many of the collections require so many combiners (up to 90+ for non-event collections and 113 for an event collection; those combiners are not giftable). You need a ton of friends who gift daily because it’s impossible to complete tasks in the locations that award the combiners. The graphics earned the 2 stars, which are generally great in G5 games but that is all the praise I can offer. The support staff are put in a truly terrible position because they really can’t do much, but it’s not their fault. They seem to be great people who work for a company that genuinely does not care about anything but money. I get it; it’s a business. I actually don’t mind spending for games I enjoy, but it should be reasonable...and enjoyable. It’s not. Peace out G5..Version: 1.9.900
✓ Starts off GreatI’ve been playing for at least a month, I’ve played other G5 games and enjoyed them so I thought this would be another one. I’m at level 23 and am calling it quits. The match three puzzles have gotten impossibly difficult, to the point that I have played the same puzzle over 7 or 8 times and still can’t win. (Sometimes I swear it looks like the game is manipulating so you can’t win.) The game encourages you to use helps, which of course cost money when you run out of the few the game gives you. If you don’t win the regular puzzles you don’t earn masks to play the seasonal game. My suggestion: if you are FTP, skip this game. If you are PTP give it a try..Version: 1.4.402
✓ Good BUT...Good game in principle BUT... - accumulate gold for no benefit. Can’t use it to buy tokens etc. - SLOW to load - the higher levels are impossible to reach without buying crystals (which you can’t buy with gold). - I’m often left with just one last piece outstanding and so FAIL the level and have to keep trying. Sometimes takes days to get through a level. So in the end it gets repetitive and boring. - the in game advertisements are a pain. Often there’s a refresh delay where I think I’ve declined the ‘special‘ offer, but the lag means I’m taken to the App Store to buy the special offer. Not only is this risky (in case I click on ‘yes’ accidentally to proceed with the purchase) but it takes ages to get through all the loading. ✓ Pretty good with room for improvementI do like this game and have spent many hours on it. The graphics are gorgeous, the story is simple and the gameplay addictive. The negatives are the repetitive adds to buy more tools or energy etc... especially when they trigger in the middle of a game. And up until yesterday the occasional shut downs whereby by clicking one challenge, the whole game shuts down suddenly. Now it has become worse as the game wont even upload and open any longer... if these two negatives were removed this would get a 5 stars review!.Version: 1.14.1402

✓ HelpThis game could be so much more fun ... if, as others have said, you could actually buy tools with the gold earned instead of everything except one or two items having to be paid with crystals. Some games are almost impossible to finish unless you have extra steps. Very hard to complete a collection. One game I’m on I played and played but could not complete it, ended up using one of the multi coloured thingies and guess what?? It was put in a square where I couldn’t access it! How is that fair?? ✓ Why Keep Paying?Had enough... Very good graphics, environment etc. but have paid once, why keep paying? Comes down to ‘who is prepared to pay the most gets the furthest’ as far as I can tell. But not anymore, because of the new update on the game I believe the levels are manipulated, and it makes it impossible to win a Quest or Collection, or Rebuilds. ✓ Too HardInitially I was quite enjoying this game but as I progressed up the levels it became more and more difficult. You end up having to play levels dozens of times and when you finally win you have gained nothing towards a collection. Wouldn’t recommend as there is now know enjoyment in it at all. ✓ I did think it was great.. but....It is a very pretty game. Graphics are lovely and gameplay is good. However, recently I find there are too many games that are pretty much impossible without planetary alignment of jewels in precisely the right place. Which means that skill doesn’t always have much involvement. Getting stuck however, does. There are levels in the cherry blossom garden that involve butterflies. All well and good but every move you make, you then have to wait for every single one of the butterflies to move before you can make your next one. This can take a ridiculous amount of time as they do it one by one!! Seriously annoying. And now, I have managed to get to level 34 and it is now showing me adverts!! Not a lot admittedly, but still yet more annoyance. ✓ Frustrating AFThis game starts out fun. You make progress, find new buildings, improve the settlement... in other words, you win some games and you lose some but you move forward. Then something starts creeping into the game. You start losing more games than you win, so to continue to progress you use the little boost pieces. Next, you’ve used all your boosts and you must buy more with jewels. Here is the frustrating part as you only earn one jewel per level and boosts costs 3-12 jewels each. But hey, you can buy more jewels at $2 per 15. I just played 21 games in a row (without any boosts because I refuse to spend anymore money on a “free” game) and didn’t win a single time. ✓ CrashesI have written to G5 for almost a year now about my problem that my app crashes when I try to visit friends, only to get no help. The last I was told was that I may have a ram issue causing this. I have written many times over to explain that I only play this game & that I play on the last est generation fully updated iPad . I have explained that I am a top player & it’s totally unfair to have to give up rewards & loss of my time. This is also unfair to my many friends that I can only gift them & not give them help with visits. I told them I have spent much money on this game & I should be compensated in some way & that is totally ignored. I keep trying to visit my friends in hopes that they will finally fix the issue & I can help my friends & myself in the game. Each month we hold our breath & wait for whatever glitches will pop up. I only must say that the updates for iPads have been quicker in coming out for iPad, but still need help with my problem. I will update when the problem gets fixed. Another thing is the new way Union Events are done are terrible, the old way needing more points & getting better gifts in the chest are more to my liking. I am in the top union & we finish in about 12 hours & that is with slowing down towards the end to try to be sure everyone gets in. This game is set up so that players never achieve anything of the events And still a game to humiliate its players. Yet cause them to keep coming back to see if there is any improvement. ✓ Still new, probably 4*, but needs one bi* improvementOther games of the type have a distinct change between normal blocks and special blocks. It hasn’t been obvious when a horizontal or vertical colored tile is created. Even after knowing that the tile simply changes slightly with directional marks, I sometimes miss the special tiles. The tutorial should also highlight how many different combinations can be made. For example, in one game four in a square makes a combo. Not here, so is it simply 3, 4 & 5. The T still works for making bombs, bu5 that is in essence two rows of three together. I did make a combo connecting a bomb to a horizontal clear tile, but can’t set of horizontal tiles without a combination..Version: 1.7.701

✓ This game gets hard quicklyOverall this game is proving to be a hard one. At first this game starts out like most match 3 games. The opening stages are simple and it introduces you to new puzzle elements over time. However, once you have upgraded a location to tier 3 or 4 the puzzles become very tricky, and some stages expect you to be able to clear a lot of things in a very limited number of moves. On top of that this is a very energy hungry game. It is not uncommon to see locations needing 25-40 energy with your XP level in the teens for just 1 try, and you only generate 1 energy every 3 minutes. Combine this with G5’s usual lack of free gems for shop items and you have a very slow paced game with a high level of difficulty..Version: 1.26.2600

The only thing I find a little annoying is that once you have built and upgraded a couple of buildings it become difficult to finish levels without having to purchase items. ✓ Just another match 3This one is about par for the genre, maybe a slight cut above since it has a bit of a twist that allows you to keep playing longer than the '5 losses and out' model--not that it'll do you much good once you get to the point where you need to use it. It reaches the point of ludicrousness fairly soon, but if you're a fairly experienced player you can get a few days out of it once you reach that point. When you do, before opening your pocketbook or pulling your hair out (unless you want to throw 'em a buck if you enjoyed the game up to that point, like I did) simply uninstall the thing and move on to the next one--there's a million of of 'em, after all..Version: 1.12.1203

✓ Jewels of RomeEnjoy this game but frustrated at the number of times it crashes. I play on a kindle fire and it hangs, also on an I pad and it crashes. Would be much more enjoyable if the adverts for other games only appeared once while you are playing instead of umpteen times. This is the reason I have only given this game 3 stars. ✓ Needs more options to get items.I like this game, but I think it’s really hard to advance unless you buy the necessary tools and boosters. A better way to handle this would be to earn low level tools and boosters when you complete a board, such as games like “Secret Society of Hidden Secrets”, or during the special events when you get the bonus items for completing the special board. You could save the really valuable tools and boosters for when you complete a level. I think players would have more enjoyment of the game and you would create more loyal customers. Unfortunately, as it stands now, you can only achieve tools and boosters if you complete a level. That makes it really really difficult to complete boards and is very frustrating. Why can’t you find other ways to give out tools? It would make the game more fun for everyone..Version: 1.22.2200
✓ Good match-3, but repetitive adsThe graphics are fine for a match-3 game, and unlike some other free games I’ve played, I was able to get through a fair number of levels without spending real money. There are some game mechanics beyond just matching. This game does have a few bad habits, though. The same ads kept coming up without me pressing any buttons to see them, and I really don’t need to see the same ad twenty times. Another pop up informed me that I had found an item which would allow me to visit the bank to buy stuff with real money. I didn’t realize that wasting dollars was such a prize. The game also pestered me for information that was none of its business, like my email address and my birthday. I guess you have to decide how long you’re willing to put up with these annoyances to play a free game. I’ve tried it for a while, and I’ll be moving on..Version: 1.17.1700
✓ MonstersNew review: This game was ok at the beginning however it as now become crap (no other way to describe it). They seem to think that by making the new levels harder (nigh impossible without buying items) it will make the game interesting, but it just turns players who want a good free game with a enough difficulty to play to go elsewhere. New levels not bad to play however why is it I have done the sprit at least 50 times in all 3 categories and still not been given the items for the collections, this as spoilt the game for me feel like removing it and finding something else to play, (please note I don,t believe if you don,t make a purchase the game lets you finish the levels).Version: 1.22.2200
✓ Standard match 3 puzzleLike cradle of the empires, the easy levels are good fun, but I’m only on level 8, but it’s impossible to win unless you use the tools that you have to buy. You always get left with 1 square to complete the level, but you run out of moves. ✓ Expensive funThe game requires players to invest financially to continue playing. Whilst you win coins from playing games these coins cannot be used to purchase tools to help you play. Their purpose remains a mystery. The latest update which includes the ability to join a union serves little purpose particularly as it doesn’t work and you are constantly told that you have lost your internet connection to G5 games. This is not correct - your internet connection is fine - the game has failed. That means any progress you have made in collecting travertine marble is lost. It is not credited to your union. The games available are good fun but be prepared to invest emotionally when your frustration builds when you can’t solve games or financially so you can progress. Updates often fail too so be prepared..Version: 1.49.4901
✓ Losing its appealThe game is very polished. The quests easily hook you in and it can be quite addictive. However, as you progress in the game (I’m currently on level 144) I sense the game is increasingly about luck rather than skill and I find this frustrating. Yes, I can clear levels with hammers and extra moves (and there are sufficient ways to earn these without paying for them) but there is no satisfaction in doing this when the level is impossible in the first place (and some most certainly are until you’ve failed them a few times and then magically you clear them with 10 moves spare!). I’ve no problem with challenge but it needs to be a true test of skill and not chance. I sense I’m coming to the end of my journey with this one..Version: 1.23.2301
