ITranslate Lingo for Negative User Reviews

Like the concept but...Would you be able to add a feature to replay a lesson regardless of how you performed on it, and maybe allow users to focus on one word, regardless of if it is a mistake. For my way of learning, I can’t look at a word 4 times and be able to recall it at any time, I have to use it a lot more to memorise it. Please add this to make it a 5 stars!.Version: 1.0.17

Failed at first fenceDownloaded, tried, failed to work, deleted..Version: 1.0.3

ProblèmeJ’aime bien mais j’aurai aimé que l’app soit plus travailler genre qu’elle nous disent c’est quoi les erreurs qu’on a fait etc.Version: 1.0.16

Not freeSince the last update, I can’t do anything without registering for the pro free week... Update: whenever I try to do anything, the pro window pops-up, I close it, and it pops up again without hallowing me to do anything. This is only since the last update so I’m hoping it’s just a bug....Version: 1.0.20

Not A Good Start!I’m trying to learn Icelandic.... I don’t want to pay until I see whether I get on with the app..... I couldn’t try it for free as I didn’t have credit enough for the annual price! If it’s not free that’s fine.... at least give a list of languages included and an example of how one learns!.Version: 1.1.3

Useless free versionOnly let me use it for one lesson on the first day now I have to pay to have any lessons more. Learn 4 words then pay... useless.Version: 1.1.6

🤦🏼‍♂️Great idea but needs a lot of updatesNeeds to speak the word every time you select or spell a word. Let you look at what you just answered and see the correct spelling. Have a button to go to the next page, not auto change. Liked the idea that you can go into this with just a few words and progress steadily. But I really dislike the way it doesn’t let you ponder what just happened. The speech recognition is terrible! Wether you use AirPods or just the phone. On simple words it picks up completely different than what was said..Version: 1.1.4

Started off goodI was pleased to see this app and immediately set about to use it but got disappointed. It hasn’t been tested properly as it doesn’t recognise speech but types something entirely different to what was said. Shame! Please don’t waste your money on buying this app until it has been developed to function as it should..Version: 1.0.14

TerribleI downloaded this app, deleted after few days, uninstalled and cancelled description. They still charged me for 6.99. Ridiculous.Version: 1.1.0

Flawed: Fails to get the easiest words correctUnfortunately, in previewing the first lesson for intermediate and basic Chinese (Mandarin), I was confronted with several errors, most notably 曷 for “where” (completely wrong), 过分地 for “sky” (completely wrong) 履 for “shoe” (incredibly bookish and old) I can go on and on. I cannot in good conscious give this app more than one star because it fails on the most basic level of “teaching” “Chinese.” Disappointing..Version: 1.0.14

Voice quality & voice recognition need workIt’s quite hard to understand some of the words that are being spoken to you, both in English and French. The voice recognition is off too. The words I pronounced were extremely close and it should’ve detected what I was saying, it wasn’t even close..Version: 1.1.1

Please readAt first i looked at the app and was like EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK IM SO EXCITED but then i downloaded it and i had 4 lesons but then i had ro pay so im gonna have to delete it 😤😭😢.Version: 1.1.0

WarningThey will charge you $49.99. I some how unknowingly got a pro subscription. Be careful!.Version: 1.1.6

Lingo Needs Gender for Gemma!Lingo provides a fun and thorough way to learn new vocabulary. But it does not included gender information! In German, this means you don’t know if the word must be preceded by der, das, die, den, dem, einen, einem, etc. German relies on gender articles to signify direct or indirect objects. If you leave them out you are just mumbling incoherently. My German teachers and German books stress the importance of leaning new vocab words AND their gender in order to be able to actually communicate in German! The iTranslate team has not committed to add gender to the Vocab list. I am wondering if they are leveraging a free Open Source vocab list and so don’t want to spend the time or effort to improve their software? :-( This is a serious oversight for a paid subscription tool. Please join me and tell the iTranslate team to get off their butts and add an essential feature that their users must have to be able to learn a new language!.Version: 1.1.0

Uhmmm..You can barely understand anything since it’s voiced by a robot and not a human-being. It teaches you at a very slow pace because you only learn 4 words per lesson. Over all it’s not the best way of learning a language but it’s not the worst mostly because it’s very hard learning a language through a book. I would not recommend this to anyone trying to learn a language..Version: 1.1.6

Cool concept, grossly overpriced.Cool idea, was actually looking forward to switching up my learning apps and use this to learn something new and unpredictable everyday... except you get one day trial + 7 free day trial with an automatic subscription of $6.99 a month. Yeah no thanks. I rather just open up a dictionary and chose 4 random words. I’d pay one time fee or something similar, but to charge me that much every month? Crazy..Version: 1.0.20

Nice app, fundamentals need workNice clean app, not very expensive at all for pro version despite the amount of reviews complaining about it, however voice recognition does need some work, might just be my rubbish iPhone 6S mic being old but otherwise a nice app that just needs refining.Version: 1.0.16

3 Areas Need Tweaking1-As many others have stated no matter how perfectly you say the words, it says you miss pronounce one and four with a totally different word! That’s frustrating AND THEN .... 2- though it turns red & counts it as incorrect, at the end of the lesson when you click “my mistakes“ it says I have zero mistakes & perfect completion. So Either allow me to correct the mistakes that you say are wrong… Or stop counting my pronunciation as incorrect! You can’t have it both ways. 3- What’s most needed in this app is a “previous review” option or at least quiz me on random words I’ve had previously in my future lessons for RETENTION As you were unable to go back to review any previous lessons or even individual words. Those slight tweaks, which require minimal work from developers, in an update, would make this a PERFECT & well thought-out app..Version: 1.0.17

Language is too professionalI was trying to learn Chinese Mandarin and I did learn a lot but when I tried to talk to my Chinese friend they said that the words I were trying to speak were too professional and no one would use them in an actual sentence..Version: 1.1.0

:)/;(I only get so many lessons, ,, this really wasn’t worth itmuch words down my neck this way, and it makes it way easier to look back on previous words mentally. The only problem is the speaking portion, it doesn’t register what i say, and when i say it a second time it doubles the word and marks it wrong. Korean is a second language for me, and i want to advance my knowledge, and so far... this app has been very helpful!.Version: 1.1.4

NOT FREEThis app is not free. It won’t even let you have the free 7 day trial unless you put in the payment info for automatic subscription renewal. A pity no evaluation will happen. APP DELETED..Version: 1.0.16

Don’t like it!😡I was learning sewdwish.I only got to learn 4 words! The thing I don’t like here is that I don’t get to do another lesson! I hate it!👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎.Version: 1.1.3

Not a good appThis maybe free but it’s actually $7 a month . Bad advertisement for this app they should’ve said that you only learn four words in one lesson is free. The rest you have to pay for..Version: 1.0.20

Great but need improvementsI really like the simplicity of the learning process, but i think a "review" function would be so great because i bearly remember the word i learned a week ago and there's no way i can review them..Version: 1.0.9

Good, but...I’m only giving this app a 3 star because of these reasons: 1) On the good side, this app is great for quick and easy lessons to expand your vocabulary. It has a good concept. 2) It is extremely limited for a language-learning app. If you are thinking about using this as a vocab refresher, then that’s fine. However, this app can’t stand alone in teaching you any deeper than that. 3) It’s not free? At least, I thought it was! I can’t access anymore lessons! Not even one. After a time of using the app, they softlock you into buying their PRO upgrade, which in my opinion, may not be worth it compared to the competitors..Version: 1.0.22

Still needs fixingIt would be nice if I can refer to the old words I learned because I hadn’t got a chance to fully learn them. Quizlet is better for memorizing and I also wish there was more to it. Moreover, the app expects people to learn the 4 words instantly after 30 seconds..Version: 1.0.9

Not good for free read pleaseOkay listen. I am wanting to learn Italian so I thought this app was good for it. You have to pay five dollars per month for it though. If you go for free you get only one lesson. I was really bummed out. I know the people need to make their money and that is ok with me. But I was hoping for more. The first and only lesson was amazing I loved it. I love this app I just wish it gave me more lessons to learn Italian. I love this app and totally recommend it but you have to pay to get more lessons other than that this app was great. Thank you for your time And thank you for making this app..Version: 1.0.22

Wow an add that makes you get a app you pay forJust no..Version: 1.1.6

Horrible learning appI recommend Duolingo for a langue app. It’s free and simple this is stupid even for intermediate.Version: 1.0.11

Good idea, works so soGenerally I like this app. I like how it functions, and I like that it only focuses on 4 words at a time. The problem is that the speech recognition is broken. It only works about 25% of the time. It almost always makes you repeat what you've said, I'm not sure why..Version: 1.0.10

MONEY BEGGARSMONEY BEGGARS.Version: 1.0.22

Review of earlier lessons should be availableThe choice of words, exercises and clarity of diction is good. Four new words is an appropriate number. An inability to review words learned previously is, however, a major weakness..Version: 1.0.16

Language optionsHi, are you likely to add further languages soon? I am interested in learning Greek.Version: 1.0.22

AddAdd Arabic language how Arab could learn english without their language hope you add it soon.Version: 1.0.20

提些意见1、我练习英文单词发音错误后,该单词并没有列入纠错单词中?2、英文对应的中文翻译很奇怪,比如dark翻译成:暧?是什么意思?red翻译成红色是不是更好?table应该是桌子,案的翻译很奇怪!.Version: 1.1.2

I wish I could change languagesIt said I had to PAY! To switch and not even 10 seconds in and I already have an add. I wish I could rate this 0 stars but I can’t. So what happened was I already learned all the Chinese words in school do I thought I could switch after no even one full lesson but I can’t. I wanted to take German or something else but I can’t. Will not be recommending this up to anyone..Version: 1.1.0

ScamAllows you to do one lesson before forcing you to pay for premium to do any more lessons.Version: 1.1.4

PointlessOnly let me learn 4 words. If you want to learn more you HAVE to buy pro. Ridiculous.Version: 1.1.0

When learn english by chinese languageA lot of chinese translations are not precise, and if you can add example sentences and part of speech to each words will be much better.Version: 1.0.9

Free version doesn’t work!!I really really want to use this app but the free version doesn’t work... I try starting a lesson and it immediately asks me to subscribe to the PRO version then when I exit the pop up it takes me back to the main screen and I can’t start/continue my lesson! Half the reason I downloaded this app was because it is free, why not state it as a paid app from the start?.Version: 1.0.22

Ok until it started crashingIt’s a nice app which doesn’t overpower you with words but recently it’s just been crashing😐.Version: 1.0.16

😭😭😭I wanted to learn Arabic but they didn’t have it so I chose Spanish. The lessons were unclear on directions, and the microphone kept thinking I said man man when I said cansado. I also don’t like how you need to pay to get your SECOND LESSON. I barely learned anything from the first lesson. If you could fix these issues, I would definitely give this a higher rating. I would appreciate if you tweaked this. Thank you for reading this..Version: 1.1.4

Less than adequateThe German version is fine if you can say all you want with nouns and adjectives. The absence of verbs and conjunctions appears to be total. The odd phrase would also be welcome. OK for a refresher, but not for learning conversation..Version: 1.1.1

WeakDoesn’t share words learnt across devices. Totally incomprehensible decision..Version: 1.1.4

Too many loan words. (Japanese)It’s a decent app but there’s little room to customize the experience. I don’t like how 3/4 of the words are basically English words. Give me something that’s foreign to my mind, I can figure out loan words by hearing them. This is mostly a problem at the beginner level. If I go for intermediate, it’s too hard because it is so kanji-reliant. I’d like if there was something between intermediate and beginner, or if you could view kanji and hiragana simultaneously so that I actually remember the kanji..Version: 1.1.0

It’s fineI been waiting to learn Japanese but sadly I only get 1 lesson, this is my first day trying it and if I get one lesson each day I guess I’ll put the stars at 4 it’s good for you can know different languages to be honest, this is kinda better than that green bird lol I hope y’all read this, it’s a good app but I want suggestion •Maybe make two lesson each day one in the morning and another in the afternoon •Bug fixing •More than one lesson •custom noise (Like if you get it wrong, you can change the noise in setting) •A section bar that you can review your words more than once This is just a suggestion and yeah, please don’t hate me lol.Version: 1.1.5

Free version a scamI like this app, but it cost me £6.99 when I was trying to use the free app. After a fortnight of using iTranslate Lingo it wouldn’t let me use the app unless I started a free trial of the paid app. I unsubscribed from the paid app immediately, then after seven days it forced me to subscribe again. The screen was identical to before and offered me a seven day free trial, but instead it charged me for a full month (£6.99). I feel cheated. It’s a shame because I was enjoying the app to learn four words a day..Version: 1.0.20

Nothing free hereIn app purchases? Yeah right. Download app and be advised to sign up for paid version before you can see anything?? AVOID.Version: 1.0.14

DisappointedI think that this app is very disappointing. I mean I wouldn’t spend 7 dollars monthly to learn a language, would you? This app should be free so we can learn languages easily. It’s not fair to be spending seven dollars monthly a mont is only four weeks and there are twelve months in a year so if you use this for only one year it will accumulate to a big price of eighty four dollars. And what, just for 1 small app? You’ve got to be kidding me! This app is a bad “educational” app..Version: 1.0.20

Word recognitionPretty good app but when you try to speak the words it doesn’t recognize it and says it’s wrong. Like when I first started the app beginners level.Version: 1.0.14

Has potentialThis could, in theory, be a great way to learn a language. Like I have seen in other reviews and from personal experience, gendered nouns are crucial to fluency. Could this be done with a similar thing to the romanized version of, say, Russian? There's also the one lesson free, the rest are paid. With the "unlimited lessons" on the pop-up, I felt like I might just get one lesson per day, but I only get one. Ever..Version: 1.1.0

Poorly checked app. This app is a poor cousin to other good Language learning Apps like Duolingo. ITranslate seem to have just patched together a matching interface to suck some cash out of unsuspecting customers rather than design a Language App from ground up. For example, learning Japanese from English has multiple errors in the oversimplified “word learning” interface for beginners. The App didn’t even say one of the only four beginner words, Konnichi, correctly. Only pronouncing the first Japanese character in the Apps voiced output of the word. And for beginners, the App seems to expect a starter to know how to type Hiragana text to come up with a Kanji. Think it all through again, people. Needs a stack of work to bring it even close to other great learning Apps out there in the market..Version: 1.0.2

Too expensiveThe app translates accurately 75% of the time. It needs a dialect/region option. I check translations by switching the to Spanish from English, to English from Spanish and the phrase typed is not the same when translated in reverse. It’s great if you need a quick look for a word in Spanish when working with someone who speaks no English but as a supervisor and with how expensive the app is, it should be 100% accurate all the time..Version: 1.1.2

Not worth a subscriptionI enjoyed the app for a few days until it asked for me to pay for the monthly subscription. I exited and now I can’t start with out it popping up to pay. I don’t mind paying a one time price for a little app to help learn Spanish, if it could understand me. I never got one day were it recognized all four spoken words. I know how to say queso! I had better luck with duolingo..Version: 1.0.20

😡😡😡I was trying to learn Japanese and saw a ad for this on YouTube and decided to give it a shot. BIG MISTAKE. I only got to use the app ONCE! I did my 4 words the fist day and set the reminder thinking that tomorrow I could learn some more☺️ the next day I came back to the app and it said I needed PRO! If your going to make something free make it so you can use it more than once For people who want to learn a new language for free, this app isn’t for you, you should get Busuu instead, thank you for reading, don’t download this app😡.Version: 1.1.0

Meh...Why i gave you 1 star, is not because of other flaws that people may have complained about but because of the fact that you can only take 1 lesson, and then nothing more. Otherwise, the app would honestly be great for learning a new language. I hope that you change this into something better, and listen to our complaints. Also, there is a 7 day trial, but then you have to pay, and my phone doesn’t let me pay for anything so i’m forced to accept the fact that i can only take 1 lesson and can’t even get that free trial. Please change this soon, please..Version: 1.0.22

Super disappointing SCAM 😥😣Advert says it’s free but it’s not yes of course you need to pay £10.99 per month 🤑🤑 NO WAY I WILL PAY FOR THAT!! That’s Almost all my pocket money 💵 I’m so disappointed ☹️ how did even get that advertise On the phones ☹️☹️.Version: 1.1.1

Great but needs more repetition....has potential to be fantasticAt first I thought this app was great....and it is great.... but it just needs more repetition as you have forgotten them all by the next day (which is what a lot of people are saying in the reviews). You can view words you have previously learnt but you can’t tap into them to practise again, which would be really useful as I am having to switch back to Google Translate or Multitrans to remind myself how to say a word properly. It would be great if there was an option to get tested after having learnt them. Tony Buzan (the world’s leading learning authority on the brain and learning) recommends recalling from memory and revisiting what you’ve learnt 10 mins after learning it, then 1 hour, then 24 hours, then 1 week and then 1 month; for it to be “ingrained” on the brain. It would be great if this app had that function/option and sent a notification on your phone (which you can accept or postpone) to test you at these various intervals. It would be great if pictures were used as well as words (sometimes together and sometimes on their own) to help with association and learning. Variety is key in learning effectively. The voice recognition needs improving. It’s too sensitive and harsh on you. It would be great if had option to practise pronunciation, breaking down each syllable, to ensure you are getting it right. Great app though and has potential to be amazing. I’m sorry I have to give 3 stars for now, just for the fact that it is only helping with short term memory and not long term memory which is what everyone wants when learning a language..Version: 1.0.19

Tweaks neededGood app, in that it can be done in small bits of time, like waiting in a doctors office. PLEASE make a Landscape adjustment for the iPad and iPhone! This is one of very very few programs that doesn’t auto-rotate from portait to Landscape. Also, the speaker needs to more clearly enunciate when giving word translation responses. I listened 5 times, and vrucht was never audible. Finally, as others note, please make a viewable wordlist for prior lessons, and Please some appendix learning of usage, like we did in school with vocabulary words in a sentence, or phrase. In Dutch, PLEASE include part of speech, and article of De v. Het; knowledge of those go together with each noun and must be memorized!.Version: 1.1.1

No GreekGreek isn’t available to learn even though it claims to support it..Version: 1.0.20

Word Review is lacking.I want to love this app. It’s one of the only apps I have found that feature Taiwanese Mandarin. The main issue I have is that the review only has you match Chinese hanzi to English definitions and most frustrating is the fact that there is no pronunciation reminder in the review at all. Thanks for adding the Taiwanese Mandarin option. 👍.Version: 1.1.3

Only one lessonI only got one lesson- which was actually really great but I only got one- I can’t get any more unless I pay £6.99 a month! I’m just trying to get my grades up at school.. 😕🙁.Version: 1.1.0

Purposely misleading description! So, I saw that the a pro version... And from the description as well as looking implicitly at the description, would make you assume that you’d only purchase the pro version if you wanted to unlock more features... But no! Instead, when you open the app, you’re welcomed to a lovely screen that literally only give you one option... get our pro version (you DO get a free week trail, but they tell you on this screen that they take the money from your account at the end of this period anyway) and to make things worse... you are LITERALLY stuck on this screen unless you buy their stupid “pro” version!... Needless to say, that’s as far as I went with the app... I urge you... no, I BEG you, steer clear of this app!.Version: 1.0.14

A nice learning program.Lingo Is A really wonderful program for learning for learning to speak A language. The only problem is that when they test you. If you don’t speak the word exactly the same as the computer it is marked wrong. Sometimes I can’t even understand the English words. For me it is like learning from a French Siri..Version: 1.1.2

Is that all?Only gives you four different words to memorise and expects you to pay $7 a month?.Version: 1.0.20

😤You only get one lesson until it tells you to get pro, I waited a day and it still says to go pro, even if you tap the x and try to tap lesson again it’ll just say pro again.Version: 1.0.22

What languages??Having checked the information on which languages are covered I was pleased to see Thai and downloaded the app ....l already got iTranslate pro and am really pleased with it. I was disappointed when Thai was not listed as one of the options. Can you clarify this point for me, please??.Version: 1.0.20

Not enough choices.Bit disappointing when I downloaded the Lingo - very little choice of languages to learn. I’ve only downloaded your apps as I work in a hospital, and sometimes patients are from abroad and I like to able to communicate with them during a scary time for them. Mostly Polish and Romanian speakers, yet there’s no option to learn this. There’s so many Polish people in the UK, as well as Romanian. Needs more choices..Version: 1.0.16

Something lackingReview update - it’s a good app, I love the concept but I find the robotic voices of the spoken examples quite unclear sometimes. I feel it would improve the app massively if an actual person was recorded speaking out the words clearly, maybe with a variety of different voices, as it currently sounds like a computer sounding out words. I’m English and sometimes even I can’t understand some of the English spoken words as it’s said in an unclear way, with inaccurate inflections on occasion. the only other negative I noticed is i would like to be able to revisit previously learned words in a test format. You can see a list of the words but can’t seem to take a retest of them to see if you have progressed. Overall it’s a great idea, but needs some development. For me at the moment it’s not worth the subscription fee until those things are improved..Version: 1.0.20

SubscriptionI think that the subscription part of this app is not needed. Some people do not have 45 dollars to send on an app that you will use for a few days. There is also a button that says to it for free, however it’s not free it makes you pay weekly. That would be considered false advertisement. I really think you should change that and only 4 free languages and other languages would be needed to pay for..Version: 1.1.3

StrangeWhy can’t I do about her lesson? This app is Rude to me because doesn’t let do another lesson. Strange👎🏻😠 Change it now or I will taser you!.Version: 1.1.2
