Photon Camera for Negative User Reviews

First impressionsControls are optimized for portrait shots. Difficult for landscape shots which I consider the pro mode, as such , I’ll pass on this app.Version: 1.1

Ridiculous Pricing ModelA $40 one time purchase or a perpetual subscription to use a camera app is ridiculous..Version: 1.0.1

ComparisonI’m not sure why but the stock camera app is providing better quality (sharp and distinct) photos compared to this app..Version: 1.0.1

Crash. Crash. Crash.I took the trial subscription and cancelled it two days later. I can only take so many crashes..Version: 1.6

RipoffTook the trial version. Could not use zoom function. Waste of time. If you are going to give 7 days trial, allow all fiction so that you can really try it out..Version: 1.7.2

Don’t bother using as a free appDon’t bother using as a free app, unless you’re willing to fork out the heavy pricing. Each startup of this app constantly nags you to pay. You’re better off using the stock camera app..Version: 1.0.1

False Advertisement is against US Federal LawI have a lot to say. This my perspective of my experience with the app and developers. I’m thorough. I don’t leave a consumer asking more questions, Hopefully! My first impression of this developer, deceptive, trickery, what else are they hiding around the corner, and untrustworthy. I can’t use anything on this app unless I purchase a subscription upfront or sign up for a week long free trial! The developer did not mention it in the AppStore adversement. I didn’t know until downloading the app and attempting to test out the camera and see which features were available. I don’t want to subscribe to a week long free trial to test out the features. I’m a busy person. A week long free trial is not conducive to my needs or expectations when I select an app. When I install an app sometimes I’m not able to try it out for several weeks. Sometimes I’ve forgotten I installed an app because I got busy waiting for the app to finish installing. Months later I realize I installed a new app, oopsy!! I think you get what I’m trying to convey? Also, there is no indication that you must purchase a subscription or sign up for a free trial in order to use the app!! I feel you’re deceiving Apple customers by not mentioning that tid bit of information next to your icon in the App Store. It just says, “in app purchases”. It should say , “ must sign up for 1 week free trial to use the app, & in-app purchases required” Some apps inform the apple customer upfront with no hidden agendas. That is called Honesty and Integrity. I need an app that doesn’t require me to purchase something just to use the most basic features. It’s not fair. Nowadays consumers must pay for a subscription with everything online!! I dont know how people pay for all the subscriptions!!! Poor people fall between the cracks of opportunity success and incredible talent invisible in the eyes of the privileged due to the hundreds of subscriptions necessary to access educational tools. I suggest a sponsorship supported by members given the option to donate an annual membership for someone with talent living below the poverty level. (Full access to all features of course. Not specific package made for low income either) I don’t like being deceived. It has suddenly become the new norm online. If I remember correctly, false advertisement is against US Federal Law. advertising with the intent to lure the consumer in using and/or purchasing a product by means of deception..Version: 1.2

ProblemsDoesn’t shoot raw files in .5x… doesn’t save separate files raw & jpeg.Version: 1.3

PretenderYou can tell a real camera from the pretenders by the way it controls white balance. A simple warm/cool slider will get you in the general ball park but eye-balling what you see on the screen is not very accurate. Measuring beats eye-balling every time. White balance is not simply along a warm/cool plane but also requires the green/red fine tuning. That can’t be accomplished by a simple slider. The only way to get a correct white balance is to measure it in the colour of the light falling on the scene, or in the case of indoor lighting, at the subject position with the existing lighting. To do that you need a neutral white balance reference card and the ability to sample and hold a reading from the white balance card. In other words Custom White Balance, or White Balance Lock. In addition, since the white balance lock button will be used so often it needs to be always available right on the main screen, and not buried in a menu somewhere. You simply fill the frame with your white balance card, in the light falling on the subject, tap the white balance sample/lock button and you’re good to go. It’s fast and easy. Bulletproof. Note: a photographic grey card may work as a white balance card (if the manufacturer claims their card is usable as a white balance card) but be aware that grey cards are exposure tools not colour reference tools so they may or may not be correctly neutral throughout the available light spectrum. I have several grey cards and each is a slightly different colour, none of them correctly neutral. It is much faster and easier to set the correct white balance at the time of shooting than it is to try to figure out what is wrong with the white balance in editing. In fact you may never get it right in editing. Another thing conspicuously lacking is any HDR exposure controls. Ideally you would want adaptive exposure brackets rather than the simple equal step exposure brackets. HDR is widely used by serious photographers so this represents another serious lack. This app is supposedly aimed at serious photographers and for that to ring true the app needs to offer the controls used by serious photographers. Or will it remain a pretender? I’ll wait to see how your app develops but for now I’m discontinuing my subscription. And $49.99 for a camera app! Are you serious? Addition: the app appears to operate in shutter speed priority. When I set the ISO I expect it to stay where I set it and not keep changing. If some automatic exposure is required then ISO priority is the preferred method. The settings need to be easier to control. Left-right arrows would be preferable to the slider. If a slider is the only way then I want to see the numbers on the slider..Version: 1.6

Confused about app ownershipIt’s Camera+ but it is not… The new owner won’t respond to communications, the new app is wildly the same but a sub or $40…and they also did not respond to communications requests…. I deserve to know who and where my sub/$40 is going… I no longer trust Camera+, so I deleted it…even though I paid for it, and the iPad app, and donated, AND PAID AGAIN recently in their now sketchy ‘hurry and buy into the app before it goes full subscription’ So I longer trust this developer to my $40, renting a camera app imo, is just useless. Plus, it shouldn’t be as buggy as it is because they made the decade old app perfect prior to this ‘ordeal’ Very unfortunate. I hope both devs have the honor to explain what transpired since I paid..Version: 1.2

Waste of TimeMakes no sense. I love the pricing options as I’m a fan of lifetime purchases and their lifetime pricing is perfect ($39 at the time of writing). The problem however is that you cannot even try taking a photo when you download the app and try using any of the manual settings. How are you supposed to try the app to decide if it’s for you if you cannot even take one single photo after changing the manual settings?! Disrespectful to the user’s time. Deleted and will never use again..Version: 1.0.1
