Exit the Gungeon for Negative User Reviews

Not good enough, yet.I would like to state that Enter the Gungeon is one of my favorite games of all time. The gameplay, references, art style, and over all detail is incredible. Unfortunately I don’t feel this game lives up to its predecessor. The core gameplay seems like it could be very fun under the right circumstances but it doesn’t feel well executed. My rating is only so high because I know Dodgeroll will probably continue working on the game long after initial release and I believe they will fix all of the problems I have dealt with while playing the game. Despite this negative review I am really looking forward to seeing the final product, and will likely change my review once I have seen these fixes and additions made..Version: 1.1.4

This game is super fun.. if i could keep my progressI am a huge fan of rouge-like games. I have beaten ENTER the gungeon multiple times and different devices. So you can imagine how excited i was to play another gungeon themed game. I was intrigued by the 2D style of this game. When i originally played it my first thoughts were “this game is really easy” which is fine because there is a hard mode. but… i’ve noticed of late that if i ever don't fully finish an entire run and tab out of the game for like 20-30 mins, I will loose the ENTIRE progress of that run only keeping the credits (i think). I understand that this game is shorter and you can beat it pretty quick but honestly, It gets super repetitive, even with all the character options, they all just feel like reskins of eachother. Also the hat collectibles are more of just big distractions and dont add alot to the game (even though it takes multiple runs to even get a single hat sometimes). I dont see these issues ever getting fixed either because its just the game…. Where is the save and quit button? why are the hats so annoying? why is the game so easy/short. It just seems like a throw away game..Version: 2.1

Really enjoy the game butThis game is great, amazing graphics, runs so smooth, but for some reason the moving control seems wonky, it constantly seems to get me killed, sometimes as I’m moving I feel like it stops working completely for a second, I have a 13 Pro Max, so like I said the performance is great, I’m just not understanding why it feels as I cannot move well, the jumping and rolling controls feel fine though, the slow motion makes it slightly easier to plan where you want to go..Version: 2.1

Bad gameI cant even play it, i started with trying to do a run then im stuck.Version: 2.0.6

Game won’t startI’m an avid gungeon player on console and was excited to find out I could play it on mobile just to find out I can’t. I open the game, and then that’s it. I just get stuck at the title screen. I’ve tried connecting a remote, redownloading it a few times, but nothing seems to work. Fantastic game on console so, please fix😕.Version: 2.1

Great game but major Bugs that need fixingI would give it 5 starts but I want the issues seen at least. This has just started happening recently but every single time I load up the game and start playing it freezes the game, and the only thing I can do is pause and restart it. Which causes me to lose all my progress on that run. It only happens mid to the end of run when I try talking a Npc to buy something.. if you could fix this that it’d be great because at this point there no point of playing if you can’t because it’s broken. Other then that the game is amazing I love it.Version: 1.1.4

Great concept, terrible controls.I played about 20 minutes using the touch controls, and I thought “this seems okay, but it would be better with a controller.” So I dug out my MFi controller that I hadn’t used in a few years, but that massively changed how the game operated. No longer does the game pause to give you time to plan a dodge roll, and all of the button mappings were just stupid. A game that should play well with a controller, instead plays worse then with a touch screen. Fix controller support and it could be great..Version: 1.1

A solid game that’s in no way tweaked for mobileFor context, I’ve beaten the original Gungeon several hundred times on PC and unlocked everything, so this isn’t “game is too hard“ whining. Though the controls working as well as they do on a touchscreen is admirable, the sheer amount of enemies, bullets, and precision required on such a small phone screen makes later levels feels like you’re not fighting the game, but rather fighting the way you’re having to play it. I’m sure it’s totally possible to soldier through if you want to invest a ton of time and effort, but a few options to make it more accessible would go along way — even just modifiers to make the game run a bit slower would help massively when first learning boss patterns, or experimental settings to increase sprite sizes for visibility. It’s a good game — it’s just not a good game for mobile if you aren’t first and foremost a mobile gamer..Version: 2.1

UmmHow do you play the game it just keeps me at the title screen.Version: 2.1

BugKinda salty that I got stuck in the floor on the final boss.Version: 1.1.4

Buggy as hell or am i doing something wrong? As soon as i get out of the first elevator and into the D-Pad shaped room, i kill the enemies and then I’m just stuck there, i can’t do anything.Version: 1.1.4

Extremely fun and entertaining!! But...I’ve had to do the tutorial over and over because before I can finish it the game crashes or the game doesn’t proceed the dialogue. I’ve tried to go through the entire thing with no problems but it’s almost impossible I still haven’t passed through the tutorial yet. Extremely fun and addicting while it works but this game is pretty much unplayable until these frequent bugs and crashes get fixed..Version: 1.1.3

Awesome game but one big glitchSo i was playing as normal then unexpectedly i win (hooray) so then i close the game and continue with my day.I wanted to share with my friend the game but then it wouldn't let me get past the exit the gungeon logo, i close the app then open it again but when the game starts up MY SAVE DATA WAS DELETED ALL OF MY UNLOCKS AND MY WIN WAS GONE. This had happened to me before but i never really made any progress but the one time that i win i lose all of my save data. I wish they would fix this because i want to keep playing but i don't want that i beat the game with almost all the characters, turn it off and then losing my progress TL:DR I lost my progress all of it.Version: 1.1.4

ConfusedI like the gameplay but am lost on how to progress...I go thru the main door to an elevator, kill them all, go to the shop screen with a couple doors, kill everything in both rooms, then I’m just stuck there in the shop, nowhere else to go. I go back to the breach or whatever and everything is the same, do it again but it’s the same. I don’t believe it’s just these 2 rooms and an elevator ride but after searching for an hour I have no idea where else to go. Maybe a bit more instruction on how the heck to play the game. Too bad...it was fun for the 5 minutes it took to beat the 2 rooms I could find..Version: 2.1

Fun game, not user friendlyI’ve played enter the hinge on before so when I saw this game I decided to give it a shot. After loading up the game I was spat in a starting room where I was given some dialog. Considering I have played the game before I decided to skip the tutorial. I then spent the next 15 minutes in that room just trying to figure out how to start the game. I was able to start a run by going into the pause menu of all places. Once I was in a game I couldn’t figure out how to interact with anything so I had to google it. TO INTERACT WITH THIBGS YOU NEED TO SWIPE UP ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE SCREEN. Since I skipped the tutorial it is very possible I missed this, however it would be a lot more user friendly if there was simply an interact button..Version: 2.1

Best Apple Arcade Game Worst PerformanceOut of all the games I played so far this is by far the best but the poor optimization on both my 6th generation iPad and iPhone 7 Plus makes it almost unplayable. Both of my devices have played much more demanding games at a stable frame rate, and with Exit the Gungeon, frame rate drops so bad that it’s like I’m flipping through a PowerPoint presentation, and it happens in all areas of the game, even if I’m in a room with one enemy. It slows down for a few seconds then speeds right back up. Hopefully there will be a fix for this soon, or a graphics option if A10 and A11 chip devices really are unable to run it smoothly at full optimization, which I doubt is the case..Version: 1.0

Great bones but marred by bugsAfter spending more time with this game than any other Apple Arcade option it’s easy to say that it’s one of my most—and least—favorite games on offer. The concept is great and after getting used to the touch controls I didn’t experience them as an impediment. I like the various weapons, the bosses become more tolerable after multiple play throughs, and I feel a degree of mastery that comes from multiple play throughs. The problem is that this game is phenomenally buggy and seems to have been abandoned by the folks who made it. There are zero day bugs which still haven’t been resolved, many of the game mechanics don’t behave as they should, and it feels like the designers don’t care. Guns and power ups disappear after being purchased, forcing you to rebuy them. Vendors come and go at random, with no explanation. Hats still make no sense at all, and there’s no explanation offered for why they even exist. One particular mid-run encounter vendor offers unlimited tries for zero money, a bug SO OBVIOUS it really signals that the devs have abandoned this game. This game is fun, but very, very badly put together, which seems to be the hallmark of many Apple Arcade games. Until the bugs are addressed this is a 5 star game in a cloak of buggy misery..Version: 1.1.4

Still pretty buggy, but great otherwiseI found that the game freezes every now and then, forcing you to reset your run, but I’m sure it will get fixed. I loved enter the Gungeon, and this is almost as good!.Version: 1.1

Terrible controls.Absolutely amazing game once again from Devolver/Dodge Roll. Does not work well on mobile due to controls. Absolutely abhorrent, incoherent, prone-to-fail controls due to the limitations for touch screen. Totally ruins the experience. I recommend getting it on console or PC; it’s 5 stars then..Version: 2.0

CrashesJust crashes within five mins, makes it unplayable.Version: 1.1.3

Handles like crapThis game is fun, besides the fact that the game likes the spawn 7 or more enemies on a platform small enough to literally dodgeroll across. Oh, did I mention the game does the shooting for you? That means you’re going to miss ALL of your shots. Yes, all of them. You can’t lead your shots because of the mobile limitations of the game. Oh and the game is stuck in blessed mode, which is boring enough but also, you can reach level 8 kalibur level and still get a gun as bad as the klobber. Level 8 is a level you get to by not getting hit for a long time - the game is supposed to reward you for it. The klobber’s a comedically bad weapon that wont kill a bat (flies essentially). Anyway, have fun! Try not to dodgeroll into an enemy (you will)!.Version: 1.1.3

NopeCrashed within SECONDS of loading. Restarted. Glitches out in the middle of the tutorial. Restarted. Repeated the whole tutorial all over again. Couldn’t work out how to actually play the game beyond the first room. Restarted. Eventually discovered the INVISIBLE doorway between the two guards and found that pressing the interact button takes too through it into the game proper. Game proper turned out to not be my cup of tea. Well thank goodness it didn’t take long to find that out… Buggy, glitchy, unintuitive, and then a game that really wasn’t worth the effort..Version: 1.1.4

No right buttonMake this compatible with iPad it has no right button so you can’t shoot the gun.Version: 2.1

An enjoyable disappointmentFor context, Enter the Gungeon is my favorite game ever, meaning that this game had high expectations for me. This game’s premise and gameplay is astonishing, having as great of a feel as the original in its difficulty and humor. Where this game lacks is in its bugs. Numerous glitches or irritating mechanics happened throughout my gameplay. The fact that roll bombs and guns with explosions hurt you is ridiculous intentionally or not, not being able to get a fifth master round after beating the final boss without taking damage is furious even though it technically wouldn’t be used, the medusalier turning completely invisible if you pause during its fight is just horrid, and (this might be isolated to me) not getting the rat to sell me a key for the hat vendor after twenty or so rounds of playing is irritating. This game’s gameplay is purely phenomenal, but the amount of broken this game is really holds it back..Version: 1.1

Unplayable due to awful touch controlsI can’t understand why this game was rated so high? The small visuals, cluttered “omg so hard” bullet hell crap, and the god awful touch controls leave little to be desired..Version: 1.1.4

I always lose control during tutorial!!I tried playing this seemingly awesome game on my iPhone 7 Plus, then I tried again on Apple TV4K, and each time I got stuck at the tutorial. The game would simply stop letting me control it anymore! I hate giving 1 star ratings, but this game -in my experience at least- is unplayable! :-(.Version: 1.1.3

BuggyPlayed it a fair bit. Sick of getting stuck with a gun that won’t fire, or with Casey.Version: 2.1

Bugged tutorialIn a loop with the tutorial. Can't complete it. The tutor character won't give me the next 'task', so have to replay continuously no no avail. Looks promising but seems unpolished and rushed through QA..Version: 1.0

Boss fight waaaaaay too hardI just downloaded this, and I completed the tutorial and first three levels easily. Then I tried the boss fight, and I got killed almost instantly. I brushed myself off and went again. And again. And again. For the first boss fight in a game, it is nigh impossible. I still haven’t beaten it, and since you can’t get past without defeating it, I’m stuck on the first stage. I would understand if it was level 50, but on level 1 it’s actually ridiculous. Really disappointed, as great game otherwise..Version: 2.1

Can’t playWhen I try to play it said there was a fatal error and I’ve tried everything like deleting it to resetting nothing worked.Version: 1.1.4

Not optimizedNeed heavily optimizing and on top of that I'm stuck at the start of it, nowhere to go, nothing to do. The game is not intuitive at all. 1 star from me.Version: 1.0
