✓ Very relaxingThis app plays calming music as you match up the pieces to those on your puzzle tray. If it’s the right piece it stays and fills with color, if it’s not the right piece it turns red. The pictures are well drawn and very detailed. A great way to relax before bed! My only issue is that after playing and solving a lot of the patterns there are glitches that keep popping up, like extra pieces that don’t fit or running out of pieces when there are still empty spaces to fill. Ow I can’t even get it to open, it shuts down before the open screen even comes on, please fix the glitches, I love this game and I really want to solve them all!.Version: 2.0.3

✓ Beautiful and soothing game with one annoying flawBeautiful puzzle game with soothing music. I could play for hours. There is one issue which prevents me from giving it five stars. Since the pattern repeats there are often two places for a piece to go. And since the error/confirmation color changes puzzle to puzzle it isn’t always obvious where the piece should go (especially at the top and bottom edges). Placing a piece incorrectly results in a “mistake” preventing higher levels of achievement. If this could be corrected, this could easily be a five star game..Version: 1.0
✓ Fun and soothing, slight formatting inconveniencesReally what the title says. Really great quality app, great puzzles of beautiful pieces that require some thinking, just the right amount of challenging. The issue I have might just be me, but I feel like the organization of the library is unnecessarily detailed and complex. Maybe merge the two bars of categories into one bar with a scrolling feature that they already have? Or subcategorize the filters so you could choose the desired category alongside the order you want the puzzles to appear in. I think it would also be great if the completion screen would spring up once you complete the puzzle, because it just seems like awkward developing when, once the puzzle’s done, you have to press the “up” arrow button in order to see the completion screen. Despite the picky comments, I honestly say this is a really great app. Highly suggest it to those who love scenery puzzles!.Version: 4.5

✓ PatternedEnjoyed this one way more than I thought I would, very relaxing and good to wind down with before bed. A tiny nitpick, I’d like to see the puzzle window be more defined when you’re putting a piece down, as I’ve messed up my streaks numerous times due to trying to put a piece in the correct spot, but outside the puzzle window. This wouldn’t be an issue but I’m trying to chase the achievements, so the breaking of the streak is a bit of a pain. Only one thing I would say is the ones I have done are all quite easy. Maybe there should be a bit of a variety in the skill levels. ✓ Excellent Game! One Question…This is a great game - easy enough to be played by anyone, but not so easy that you can just speed through the whole puzzle. It does take some time to complete the puzzles, but the end result is definitely worth it! It’s also great that you get new puzzles every day, and that you can share your finished puzzle with your friends and family. Overall this is really a fantastic game, but I noticed that every puzzle is created by someone - but I haven’t found any way that you can make one??? This app is still really good and you should definitely play it! I also suggest trying some other Apple Arcade games made by the same developer, though I’ve never played any of them myself. ✓ The Pattern has a trickThe range of designs has plenty of choices for every preferences. But picking from the magnified detail choice sometime reveals to be more challenging than expected. Some intricate patterns have watercolour shades which are not easy to unravel. Also some have a little trick. The slotting tiles come in more than one option so if progress has already been made sometime they appear not be fitting. But this is an enjoyable game which requires a main element: patience. Some patterns of course are more difficult than others and the music soundtrack plays according to the progress made. Perhaps to grade them in succession according to difficulty would be an easier introduction for any player..Version: 3.0

The music is calming it helps when you just want to relax while finishing this up. I think the only thing I would like to see is more colorful pictures, it’s soothing on my eyes the current pictures but sometimes I struggle to even see the pictures in front of me that are already there or when I do put the puzzle piece in the correct area it just turns a very pale piece instead of a vibrant color. ✓ Relaxing, but with a flaw in a recent updateAfter updating to version 3.2, picking up pieces after putting them down in the wrong place on the puzzle has a rather annoying problem: when I tap and hold on a loose piece, it slides out from under my fingertip, about a block and a half to the left. The piece will move around as I move my finger and drop when I let go so it isn't completely breaking the game, but it is disconcerting when I want a puzzle to be relaxing. Update: Apparently this is a feature, not a bug. Thank you, developers, for responding to this review! I can see what you're going for here, but please, please, try a different way to do it. Right now picking up a puzzle piece only to have it scoot out from under my finger feels like trying to stab a fork into the last cherry tomato on a salad plate. Maybe you could make any tap inside the puzzle area pick up the loose piece, so I could choose how far away my finger was from the piece and that distance would stay constant the whole time? ✓ It's great but it brings me to an updating screen when opening nowSo, after I completed the first puzzle I got off, but when I went back on it would load into a screen that's like the loading screen but it says "updating..." and the bar gets maybe 1/4th of the way full and then it just stops. I sat there waiting for about an hour last night, just wanting to play but not being able to because of this screen. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and that didn't help. ✓ Such an iconic gameI rarely ever write reviews for games here on the App Store but this deserves it! Beautiful patterns, lots of choices to choose from and it has incredibly relaxing gameplay. Some patterns are more challenging than others but it is so much fun to see if you can make it through the pattern without a bad move. Also a thumbs up because I haven’t experienced one bug or crash during my time playing - hand clap for the developers there! ✓ Calm Puzzler (except for a few issues)I adore a good calm puzzler, and Patterned is excellent for folks who want a game in that vein. With that said, there were a few instances that made the experience slightly less than ideal—there are occasional puzzles where the patterns don’t tile perfectly (the herb garden one for example) and sometimes the base sketch is hard to read or doesn’t quite line up with the puzzle pieces that’s supposed to match (the peacock and parrot one), which makes the puzzle unnecessarily difficult or illogical to solve. ✓ Great, but some images are awfulI really enjoy the beautiful patterns and colorful images. I use this app to relax, and those images help me with that. The artist Catherine Holcombe, however, has polluted the system with very low quality images. No pattern to be found whatsoever. These are called “vintage”, which should stand for “no color, no pattern, no fun. Just get blind already.” Sometimes it gets sooo annoying I just try every square, even if it’s already filled in, which you cannot tell, since again, no color and no pattern. Please at least allow a rating of images, so that at least it’s possible to rate these low and make others’ experience more pleasant..Version: 3.1.1

✓ Slow UII love this game, but I wish it was easier and quicker to get back to an in progress puzzle. Currently you have to load up all puzzles which are sorted newest first, and then sort by progress (you have to do this every time, it doesn’t remember) and it takes a little while to load every time. Especially annoying if you are playing a solo puzzle and a multiplayer one at the same time, and have to keep swapping back and forth to take your turn. ✓ Fun, but can use tweaksI get this game is supposed to be relaxing, but as somebody who is playing it competitively, some of the animations make it feel like a slow app, even on new phones and a 2020 iPad Pro. I would love to be able to see which puzzles I finished on easy vs on expert mode. A percentage complete on the in-puzzle menu during the puzzle would be nice. Lost track of how many times I hit the X to close the menu and end up closing the puzzle. I also find it annoying that there is an achievement that can’t be completed because not all the puzzles have been released I’m the category. ✓ Good game with a maddening issueThis game has good puzzles. Even in sketch mode the puzzles are pretty easy, so I challenge myself to do them without any mistakes. The game, however, has different ideas. If I'm dragging a shape into position, it will sometimes snap out from under my finger or stylus into some other (wrong) place with the same shape. I generally challenge myself a little more by placing all of the multi-square pieces as I encounter them. Then, I place the 15 or so single-square pieces. If I drag a piece too close to an empty square, I have to fight the puzzle to move the piece to where it belongs. I'd prefer the snap to have a proximity potion so out wouldn't snap unless it was close enough, and an option where it wouldn't snap unless the piece was released. I just spent far too much time fighting with a game that's supposed to be relaxing. It also differentiates identical pieces to require correct placement. I've come across this when there are several single square pieces entirely in the background color. Unless they are placed into the correct locations, the puzzle is not considered solved..Version: 2.1

At first I found it a bit difficult as the lines can be so faint but I’ve found that once you get going the colours get brighter and easier to place... and some puzzles are much easier than others! ✓ Great but...I really enjoy this puzzle app. I wrote an earlier review that it stopped working on my iPhone, but on my iPad Pro it’s fantastic! Beautiful artwork, soothing classical music, and a great challenge, except sometimes when you pick up a piece the board sort of hints at where the piece should go. I’ve tried to find out how to turn this feature off but I don’t see this option available. While this puzzle app is really challenging, this weird hint highlight feature is frustrating and diminishes some of the challenge. Even when I have success inviting and setting up a puzzle with one person, it’s unintuitive and we can’t get it to work. ✓ The absolute best puzzle game!This is the best puzzle game in the entire App Store, not just Apple Arcade. Not only are the puzzles beautiful, but they are created by different artists from all around the world! After you complete each puzzle, you are told who created the piece and where they are from. I think that’s a really nice feature! Also, the puzzles have a nice range in difficulty. Some of them are extremely easy and can be completed in a matter of minutes, while some may take you a lot longer. I like having this range in difficulty. This game is also very relaxing. I find that I am relaxed even while playing the more difficult levels. The quiet music is also a very nice touch. To conclude, if you already have Apple Arcade, download this game. ✓ Fave game has some bugs & SLOWWWWThis is literally my most favorite game on iPhone of all time. I play everyday & love it so much, but… For the last few weeks it has been forgetting my game progress randomly. Sometimes it’s just a percentage of a pattern, other times it’s the entire thing! There have been several now that I have completed but they show up as new/never attempted. What is going on?? The other issue, which has plagued it from the get-go is that start up is ridiculously SLOOOOWWWWWWWW. The splash screens’ transitions are the slowest I’ve ever dealt with. This isn’t a game you sit down on the toilet to play. You will be finished before it is open. It’s not my internet or phone either - I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max runnings iOS 16.5.1 (although like I said, the app has been a slug since the beginning) and my home internet, where I do 99% of my playing, pulls just over 800mbps down..Version: 5.6

✓ Good but..The overall mechanics of the game is pretty fun, it's a nice and relaxing game like it intends to be but it's missing a few things. The game has a huge library of puzzles to choose from, but they need to be downloaded online before being able to be played. In my case, i like playing these games when i'm bored in between work and not having a set amount of "base" pre-downloaded puzzles is a bit of a let down. There is, however, an offline download version for this reason. Whenever I am working on a puzzle and I don’t finish it and I leave the game, it is very hard to find that specific puzzle again. I think there should be a button to go to puzzles that you have not finished. I know this may be minor, but I think it would really improve the game. Also, there is a glitch in a pattern called Meadow in Bloom, by Sarah Treu from Utah. On the upper left side of the screen, there is a duck facing up. When I fill in one of the ducks feet, it glitches and distorts. Thank you for reading my review! Edit: A lot of the puzzle pieces are becoming distorted when they are on the left side. ✓ Lovely game, made for rightiesI love this game! It’s extremely relaxing, and I think the best part is getting to use each newly solved puzzle as my new background or lock screen on my iPad. It’s ridiculously satisfying to watch the puzzle slowly transition from a black and white sketch to a full color image, and the sketch aspect also adds a degree of difficulty as well. I love being able to look up more puzzles by the same artists, or go randomly. One thing that bothered me was that there is no setting to change the pieces to the left side of the screen. I still have a tendency to use my left hand, and inevitably end up covering pieces with my arm. It would be great if I could choose lefty settings that would make the pieces appear on the right, and cause the pieces to “scoot” to the right when I pick them up. Also, I think it could be made easier to find puzzles you’re working on. I know you can organize all the puzzles into categories, including progress, but I don’t typically work on lots of puzzles at once. ✓ Zen like relaxing puzzlerHard to describe the gameplay; imagine a sheet of wrapping paper with a regular repeating pattern. Now cut the entire sheet intoTetris like shapes. Then mix the shapes up and remove all the colour. The players job is to reassemble the original sheet with only an online of the pattern to aid & guide the placement of the shapes. The more shapes are correctly reassembled, the more of the colour returns until the original sheet is fully restored. What the above doesn’t illustrate is how relaxing and gentle this puzzler is, aided by some lovely ambient music! This is less of a game and more a way to relax and succumb to a gentle unwind, with the quiet satisfaction one might get from a jigsaw or paint by numbers set. It is almost 100% perfection…my only suggestions to enhance gameplay: 1) Tiny glitch when attempting to place some puzzle pieces where the piece jumps over to the side into an incorrect slot when it senses a duplicate placement slot either directly above it or below it: it’s annoying when trying to get a perfect score because there’s no anticipating when it’s going to happen. Occurs a couple of times per game. 2) Having player confirm when selecting a new puzzle because while scrolling for a new one, it often selects one accidentally due to sensitivity of touch pad, and then as far as the download goes, it’s too late. ✓ Relaxing, but not perfectPatterned has plenty of beautiful art, and the gameplay itself is relaxing, yet stimulating. Having said that, I find two problems with it: at the end of a puzzle you can be left with a bunch of essentially identical background pieces that you have to trial-and-error into place. The other is that the performance is surprisingly bad for its simplicity. At the end of a puzzle, it takes a second or two to lock a piece into place for some reason! This breaks the relaxation into a bit of frustration, as you know where the pieces need to go, but can’t move them..Version: 1.0
✓ My (almost) go to game!Patterned is a great game that puts no pressure on the player to complete in specific amount of time. I love how each pattern gives you different ways to solve where the pieces go. Sometimes I take each piece as it comes, sometimes I place all similar shapes before moving to the next shape, sometimes I find all the pieces for a section of the pattern and build out from that location. Currently about 300 patterns to choose from. Find a pattern you like and set it as your wallpaper. A suggestion would be to have a way to download only unfinished puzzles. It takes a fair amount of time for a new pattern to load when you have over 300 patterns and they all have to load into memory. The game is also quirky, such as sometimes not having all the necessary pieces to complete the pattern..Version: 2.1
✓ Makes My Eyes HappyThis may be the loveliest game I’ve ever seen for iOS. I’m a “detail oriented” person and this game is all about the details. I like that it is completely self-paced and that all patterns are available to be reassembled as soon as the game is downloaded. I wish I could figure how to do two things: 1) I would like to be able to check the % complete at any time during the game; and, 2) I would like to easily see all puzzles that are in progress rather than searching through all the puzzles to find which ones I am working on. ✓ Quick Bug FixesPreviously requested a fix to make it easier to do previous months’ puzzles and have now finished all of them. New complaint: I am trying to ration the 13 remaining puzzles I haven’t completed. I really wish this had a bigger puzzle library or allowed us upload from camera roll to do our own puzzles. Every time I finished one puzzle I felt satisfied and would like to save those pictures as nice screen saver. It’s glad to see that after a while there are new pics, however in the recent play, I am unable to save some of those beautiful pics as screen saver anymore. I understood some creators of the pics might not wish for downloading to happen, but I think it would be good if you can add a note before going into the pic by saying that this particular pic cannot be saved upon completing. ✓ Potentially Relaxing GameThe artwork is beautiful, the music beguiling, and the concept of this jigsaw variant is compelling. The artwork is beautiful. It’s not always easy, and I don’t mind that. What I absolutely hate is the competitive aspect of the game, where there’s a level of skill in completing without making a mistake. It’s easy to make a mistake, and I instantly feel annoyed that I did so. I know that the failure was recorded. It makes it impossible to ignore. I think this is a huge mistake in the design of the game. It presents as a relaxing puzzle, but the pressure of not making a mistake is stressful. I would like to see this aspect removed. The game also takes much longer to launch than I would have expected. The resources don’t look that big. What is this app doing? There's something about colouring screen-filling patterns with Tetris-like shapes accompanied by calming music that clears the mind of whatever's occupying it. There's no timer, no punishment for wrong moves. This is a game that has all the patience in the world for you to play as you like. I particularly like the latest update, which really improves the greyscale images, as well as the consistent updates with new music and artists. I also dislike that it automatically downloaded a few puzzles because I can’t figure out how to delete them (I actually accidentally deleted my entire save, oops). -This one isn’t a huge issue but some of the puzzles are hard to with certain settings. ✓ Great game but with flaws on Apple TVFirst off, this game is wonderful and I love it; one of my faves on Arcade. It’s chill, beautiful, calming, somewhat mindless fun and I really enjoy it on my phone and iPad. However, on Apple TV it is terrible. Using the remote to grab and place pieces is really tricky and made worse by not knowing which piece you are grabbing. The opacity of the piece you’re on before clicking is like 5% darker than the rest, at best, so when you get down to the smallest pieces it’s truly a crapshoot and the puzzles take probably 3x longer than they should because of the poor UI. A simple outline over the piece you’re on or a slow shaking movement would do the trick so maybe an update will include this and hopefully scrolling through the list gets ironed out as it’s not smooth, same can be said for navigating the menus. It’s a bummer as it looks beautiful on the big screen with Apple TV, but I won’t be playing there any longer until they figure out a better UI. Great work, but keep up the great work and fix the Apple TV version..Version: 1.0
✓ Could be great, except for its buggy interfaceThis game is unique, beautiful, and relaxing...except for when its own interface gets in the way. One glaring example is that while you have an inner subset of the picture to work on, the pieces themselves will match with open spaces outside of this inner area. If you make the mistake of dropping it outside of the bounds, the shape turns red and there goes any hope of completing it without errors. This is just ridiculous. True, the holes outside the area will be gray, but the ones in the allowable might be tan, or light green, etc. depending on the color scheme of the portrait. C’mon, developers, just make anything outside the inner area unselectable! Otherwise, instead of being a find-a-shape challenge, it becomes a figure out which identical holes the developer wants me to drop it in—a very irritating challenge which *seriously* detracts from the game’s enjoyment. Also, there are times when I swear an available piece simply does not have a corresponding hole. That’s probably actually my own brain making shape assumptions that are just plain wrong; however, you bolster my argument near the end of completion of a puzzle. For example, I have five tiny square pieces remaining, yet there are only four holes. What the heck is that about?!.Version: 1.0

Really the only thing “bad” that happens if you go too slow is that the music pauses for a bit, but if you go faster and drop a piece into the wrong place it turns red! It’s wrong! Seriously, these are not Big Bad Things. But they still stress me out somewhat. Otherwise the game is beautiful and relaxing and I turn to it several times a day, and have even made wallpaper from some of the finished pieces. My biggest qualm — and I almost took away one star but I didn’t — is with a few certain puzzles where a piece can exactly fit in two different places, (because of the way that particular picture pattern was built, there are no subtle differences in the picture between the two spots), except one placement is arbitrarily WRONG and then I don’t earn a perfect achievement through I-don’t-know -what-fault of my own. I am however experiencing a problem lately where one puzzle piece is completely missing, and I cannot complete the puzzle. I’ve tried restarting the puzzle, but the piece is still missing. Even completely closing the app doesn’t work. It keeps happening with random puzzles. Another thing I have a tiny issue with is the amount of Christmas puzzles. There seems to be far too many. ✓ Relaxing AND challenging!Pandemic lifesaver:) This app offers variety and two levels so you can relax or be challenged. The gentle music encourages you as you start...just a few notes for each right piece and then continuously as your puzzle gets going. I really like the understated crescendo that happens as you finish the puzzle and celebrate. It is really hard with the repeating ‘wallpaper’ pattern, but that’s what makes it good. You have to focus on very small patterns within the pattern to find each piece’s place. You start with a grayed- out design that blooms into color as you go, or, if that level, becomes stressful just switch to color in the beginning. There are thousands of different puzzles to fit all the many moods of quarantine. There are only two small technical issues I had, but they may also be user error;) When I ‘grab’ a piece to search, my finger covers up the smaller ones so it is hard to maneuver. Sometimes, if I get it just right, I can guide the piece without having my finger right on top of it. My other issue was that when the puzzle is farther along, dragging a piece onto the playing board highlights identical shapes which can give its position away. So, all in all, love it! Really hope we can purchase it at some point instead of having to subscribe to Apple Arcade..Version: 3.1.1
✓ Relaxing-anxiety busterI love this game! I am not what you would call a gamer and very very few games hold my attention; with this though I can tune out the world for hours. I play with sound off, because if I’m playing this I’m looking for quiet and solitude. I find this incredibly calming. My criticisms are some of the achievements, while completed, haven’t posted as being so. I also think there should be an achievement somewhere in the 300s as there are none. ✓ Love it!!I love this game!! All of the patterns are so original with beautiful colors. It’s a nice therapeutic-type game where I can just listen to music or a podcast while playing it. I have come across a problem, though. I was completing a bunch of the spring puzzles, and there’s one flower puzzle that whenever I click on it, it goes to the white transition screen and just stays there. I’ve tried it multiple times, and as far as I’ve noticed, it’s the only puzzle it happens to. It has a real background with pink and white daisy-type flowers that are outlined in white, and the petals are sort of triangular. I hope you fix this soon!
