Can’t add smart plugsI purchased four smart plugs gosung, I scanned the QR it gave me this application however it’s impossible to link the smart plugs to this application, pretty much useless..Version: 5.0.11

The plugs are good but the sofware is the worstI'm wondering if there is any other software that can be used to control these plugs because this app is about as bad as it can get. Poorly designed UI that appears to be targetted primarilly at trying to force you to purchase more products. This app is being used as an annoying, trolling advertising platform instead of a useul remote for controlling the plugs. Yes it can do that job and it works but you have to click through the ads before you can turn your plug on or off. I hate it..Version: 5.3.3

Stopped respondingIt was working great until randomly it stopped responding to my phone. I tried everything I could think of yet it still didn’t work. I bought the lightbulb because when I moved into my house the string to turn off the light while still having the fan on broke. So I bought this so I can still sleep with the fan on without having to take out the light every time I want it off. The bulb itself still worked so I have no idea why it won’t connect. After around an hour of trying to get it to work I gave up and took it out.Version: 4.3.2

App worked great for years, before updatesI have Gosund smart switches, smart plugs, and smart power strips all throughout my house; about 20, in total. They all worked great for several years, as did the app that controlled them. They still work with Alexa and I can manually turn them on or off with Alexa or the app. Since the last couple of software updates, my schedules and routines still appear in the app but they no longer initiate. Also, when I am away the app does not accurately show me what lights and switches are on or off, nor does it allow me to reliably control them remotely. I would have give. This app and these products six stars, if that had been possible, when everything worked. I adopted the Gosund products early on, when it wasn’t clear which products would endure. I bought Gosund because they didn’t require a HUB and their products and app were advanced at the time. If you only want to use this app and their products while you are at home, and control the switches through your HUB, their products might appeal to you, however, if you plan to control your lights remotely or want them to turn on or off on a schedule, this might not be your best choice. Until such time, when they update the app to hopefully bring back all of its functionality, I cannot recommend it..Version: 4.5.2

Love the Access, NOT the adsThree months ago I would have rated this five star. This app is super easy to use. I have multiple devices throughout my home and love that I can turn on the office lights while I’m in the kitchen making tea. A couple of months ago GoSund started advertising their new products on the top of the app page… Okay, annoying, but not too much in the way. Now a pop up comes up when I open the app. This is beyond annoying! I paid for your devices and am fine to know when you have a new product, but get rid of the pop ups!!!!.Version: 4.5.2

Good but a faffReally great once you get it working, you have to login to your wireless router if you have problems and turn of the 5ghz to enable you to connect each devise the turn it back on….. which is a bit of a faff.Version: 4.2.0

Latest Update…This has been reliable for me since last year April when I bought my smart bulb… until the latest update, which has removed Siri functionality, now I can’t control the light without manually going into the app 🤦🏿‍♂️. Hopefully this will get fixed soon.Version: 4.0.0

Gosund socketSockets work well, once there’s a hiccup in the house power system, sockets take forever to reset automatically, some need to be done manually. Resetting manually is problematic due to accessibility location. If Gosund could correct this issue, they would be 4/5 stars. We are moving on from this brand cause of the above issue..Version: 5.3.5

AwfulBiggest regret was getting this brand. It works horribly and after less than a year one of my two plugs stopped working. The app cannot find the device at all, and my other one is also not being detected by the app, only Alexa..Version: 5.0.21

Good but latest update is a messSince the update a few weeks ago, I have to manually refresh the screen where all my smart plugs are to see if they’re on or off. The app doesn’t seem to automatically sync to the plugs anymore, particularly if I have Google Assistant turn them on or off via voice command. It is extremely annoying that pop up ads come up every time I open the app. I just want to turn my lights on or off and I’ve already bought your product, so the pop up ads are particularly irritating. Ditch the constant pop ups, please, so the app can function smoothly again. Other than those two gripes about the latest update, the products themselves (or at least the smart plugs) and the app work well..Version: 4.3.2

Need to be able to use on two devices at the same timeThe app was easy to set up only works for their brand, when I went to logon to my iPhone I had to log off of my iPad to be able to log on, I would likeTo be able to logon with two different devices at the same time, then I could control it from different locations when my device at home it’s turned on such as iPad. One quit working the second time I used it, I had ordered four more but then I canceled them I need something that’s going to be more reliable add an app to work on different brands..Version: 3.12.2

Great App. Has PotentialI do believe this app has come a long way in the last 1-2 years that I’ve been using it, however, it does still have some flaws, in my opinion. 1. I hate how now on my main page in the app, under my smart outlet controls it shows “Popular Recommendation”, in other words, suggested items for you that they also sell. I feel as though it just clutters up my app’s homepage, and I’m less likely to purchase additional items when constantly being shown to me, especially when I can’t find an option to turn that off, if I choose. 2. I hate how the app crashes quite often. I was in the app, controlling my smart plugs when a box popped up, asking me to review the app, which I did. Upon trying to write this review, the app crashed once again, and I had to go to the App Store, find the app, and finish my review this way instead, proving my point of the issue being very frustrating. Other than these 2 issues, I really like the current version of this app. In the past, it was very glitchy, so I’m glad a lot of those problems have been fixed..Version: 5.0.11

This doesn’t even deserve 1 starSo you are telling me I need to BUY a new WiFi router just so I can use some LED lights on my TV? I am terribly sorry that my wifi is too good for your device... It comes with no controller, and just assumes that you can download a magic app that makes you put in your WiFi password every 20 seconds.. My WiFi is 5 GHZ and I am not going to buy a whole new router just so I can use some lights..... When I try and sync, it doesn’t pair, so it tells me to connect to it on my WiFi connections. Siri no longer supported!I have had many of the GOSUND products (outlets and bulbs) for 2 years and have LOVED them. However, today my phone did an update to the app and it appears the app no longer supports Siri Shortcuts for iPhone. This was the main reason I purchased this product. I didn’t want to have to buy an Alexa or Google Home device and loved that I could just use my phone. Siri Shortcuts integration set them aside from all others because they were the only ones I could find that would work with Siri. But now there’s nothing special and my days aren’t as efficient or easy. 🤬🤬🤬.Version: 4.1.6

Good until it’s notOnce you manage to get your app to find your switches, they work great. Setting a routine with Alexa to turn the lights on and off, works great and is pretty darn easy. BUT if you happen to change anything about your internet, say your Wifi name, you will have to go through h-e-double hockey sticks to get the app to find your switches again. I have two switches and had to change our wifi name yesterday….after a VERY frustrating hour and a half, I finally got one of the switches reconnected. I was too annoyed to try the other one. Fast forward to today and I still have yet to get the app to find the switch. Reset-lights blink quickly-2 minute countdown-timed out….over and over and over again. Attempt to connect to GoSund hotspot instead, nope, does not exist. I’ll try again tomorrow but it’s looking like GoSund switches and app may go bye bye..Version: 4.8.8

App is now glitchyI’ve had 2 smart plugs and 4 of the smart colored bulbs for awhile now everything has always worked really well and I’ve liked it. However, with the most recent update the app doesn’t work well. My two main problems, the status of the plugs/ bulbs is often wrong. They will say on when they are off and off when they are on. The other issue is the groups keep resetting. I have two bulbs in my living room and two in my bedroom. They are grouped to each room but every time the app closes it says the groups aren’t set anymore. When you click the group to manage it, it shows the two correct bulbs and you have to re-save it. Over and over again have I had to do this..Version: 4.5.2

Previous versions were less privacy-invadingThe latest version of this app requires me to both grant Gosund the right to share private information with third parties, and now requires me to turn on location information in order to connect to a device once it's been reset. There is no option to opt out of these privacy-invading choices. Unfortunately these devices seem to sometimes need to be reset, perhaps because of bad hardware design? Unclear why they sometimes just fritz out and stop talking to devices they've been configured for before, and why, even when the app knows the MAC address of the device, it can't reconnect. Hopefully the Apple App Store review team will look into this, and convince Gosund to stop requiring users to grant them the sharing of personal data..Version: 5.0.18

Ads ruin this appWhen I purchased the Gosund Lamp I thought it would be a smooth interface and present a good user experience. After installing the app I have found it to be a less than well thought out UI first and foremost the instructions did not include connecting to Google Home only Alexa. The second thing was the biggest issue the Home Screen is cluttered with over 8 products being advertised instead of it being a direct access point to the UI that controls the item it is connected to. These things may seem a little small but when you purchase an item you want it to be up and running without any unnecessary hassle or issues..Version: 5.0.10

Fully regret using GosundI've had nothing but trouble with the plugs I bought from Gosund and this horrible app. I've had these plugs for a year and a half. I can't accurately control anything when I'm outside of my home wifi. The app will say that my products are on when they aren't, and off when they aren't. I have no idea if they are working while I'm gone. My schedules recently disappeared from view, I had to add new ones, yet they still keep operating on the old schedule that I cannot edit because it's gone, so I'm going to have to disconnect and reset all 4 plugs, but setting them up in the first place was a Herculean task that drove me to the edge of sanity. I've tried to use them with other apps and they *will not* connect. The app is so wildly bogged down with ads that I hate opening it. I added something to my cart once to see how much it would be with shipping, it was too much so I deleted it, yet got a million cart reminders. They are good about replying when you have a problem, but don't actually help at all. The just repeatedly insisted that I had the wrong time zone set, when I absolutely did not. I regret my purchase so incredibly much. I hate this company and I hope they fail..Version: 5.3.5

Clearly many of these reviews are bogus and this company is a disappointmentI was an early adopter of Gosund products. The original app worked just fine. Each update seems to break the product more. Popup ads have ruined things. I finally have turned off all notifications and I’m turning off notifications for the app on my iphone’s settings. Many times my lights just randomly turn off. I regret buying these. I bought smart LEDs in part to conserve energy and reduce e-waste since they should have a pretty long life. Now, I’ll probably end up having to toss these because they’re almost non-functional. If you read through the reviews, you see a common theme. Cant c next to iOS phone - iPhone XRI have tried to connect smart plug to my iPhone but it won’t connect even though hub router is dual channel. Tried to connect via AP mode. And as soon as I connect to smart life Wi-fi. The plug button turns red. Good in 2020, not good in 2023Bought their wifi sockets back in 2020, and they worked perfectly fine. Was actually super happy with them. I use them once a year for Christmas lights and so on. Pull them out for 2023, and their app has been updated, which seems to be the problem. The sockets won’t pair at all. I’m actually fairly certain the app is recognizing the sockets, because in both the EZ pair and AP pair instances, the light is flashing appropriately until it tries to connect, and then the light on the socket just stops. Anyways - they’re going into ewaste now and I won’t be buying any products from this company any longer. Sad that they had a well functioning product before tanking it..Version: 5.3.3

OkayThe bulbs work very well once you pair them. The paring process is very painful, I hope all smart bulbs aren’t that hard to pair. It makes me not want to buy more. But after you pair them they work really well so I would recommend these because of that. The app used to be great before they started adding a bunch of pop up ads. Since, then the app glitches a lot and does not work properly a lot of the time. I’ve had these bulbs for 2 years and have not had issues with the app until they started adding pop up ads in there. I have a group of light bulbs and sometimes it allows me to control all of the bulbs in that group and sometimes it makes me click on the group so that I can see the color wheel and then it lets me control them that way. It’s annoying because having the on and off button shortcut is very convenient. I’ve had to add my light bulbs back into a group for some reason and then the shortcut would work and then all of a sudden it stopped working again. A lot of glitches it’s annoying. Very suspect app.Not only is this fiddly to set up... but 2 days after installing the app I found that my iCloud account had been compromised via an attempt to log in on a device in China (close to where the plugs/apps are produced). The first of any such attempt in over ten years.... Immediately deleted the app and have scrapped the plugs as there is no other way to manage them. DO NOT BUYI have brought the smart light for over 6 months now and everyday I turn the light on it blinks rapidly so I take about 20 minutes a day trying to connect it and then it successfully connects for another couple of hours and turns of on its own. Now I threw that light in the bin and using the Philips Hue Recommend that as it is quick to use and has no stupid catches also has a controls centre option Gosund is rubbish.Version: 3.15.0

Some bugsFor Christmas I got 4 smart plugs which required me to download the app, no problem. Next step is the 2.4 vs 5 ghz WiFi. Took me about 30 minutes, but I was able to separate my WiFi into that. Next was linking with Alexa. To link with Alexa’s skills, Alexa’s app wanted a phone number to log into Gosund, which I never provided to Gosund. On a whim I entered my email (into the phone number part, because it doesn’t give you an option to enter an email so I did to just see what happens) and password I created and it worked perfectly fine. The actual device works great, but the instructions are pretty much trash once it gets to linking your smart device to Alexa..Version: 3.20.0

Loved at first but recently experiencing issuesAbsolutely loved this product when I first got it(single outlet units). Recently I started to have issues where it says offline whenever I open the app even while the light that’s plugged into the outlet is on. Will eventually come online but never had this issue in the past. Also having an issue controlling the unit when I’m not on the network at home which is an issue I’ve never experienced before. If the issues get fixed I’m sure I’ll love it again but until then I’m frustrated before It was perfect..Version: 3.22.5

Extremely invasive, loaded with ads and bloatThe app itself is fine but if you value your privacy at all do not download this app. It requests access to everything on your phone including specific location details that are insane for setting up a simple plug. It forces permissions to use/set anything up. If you plan to use this with Alexa you have to get this app and then add it to the smart devices in Alexa. If you don’t want your outlets tracking your usage, having access to everything on your phone and your internet and sending your information back to servers, do not download. I uninstalled and returned the outlets..Version: 5.3.5

Ads getting in the way - jerky usageThis app used to be ok but now has ads that come in at the top of the Home Screen, this makes the icons below for the various devices jerk up and down occasionally meaning it’s so easy to turn the writing device on/off - useless. Move the ads to the bottom of the list please, bring back the decent app instead of this useless app.Version: 5.2.1

Ads ruin the experience & convenienceThe hardware & software work pretty well. I like that there is an alternative pairing technology in case your wifi switches bandwidth intermittently like mine (between 5 Ghz & 2.4 Ghz). What really upsets me and ruins the entire user experience and almost the whole point of “smart” technologies - convenience - are the ads inside the app. I have already purchased several products from you Gosund. I have run out of electronics to plug in to them. PLEASE stop putting pop up ads in the app. It completely ruins the user experience. I was going to recommend Gosund to family + friends, but due to the infuriating in-app pop-ups, I will NEVER recommend Gosund to anyone as I know there are alternatives that work about as well and don’t use pop ups in their app..Version: 4.5.2

Great smart switches. Mediocre app.The smart switches are super easy to setup and very reliable. The app UX is annoying and periodically buggy. Especially after the redesign. I’m not sure what made them waste time and energy to actually take backwards steps in ease of use. Also the scheduling can be wonky. I had an auto shut off happening that I turned off and it still would power off. So I deleted it. And it still would power off at that old time like a phantom ghost. Finally I set a new schedule for power on at that old time and did the trick..Version: 5.3.5

WORST SETUP EXPERIENCE EVERThese reviews are either all bs bots, or just extraordinarily lucky. Got a light strip for my birthday and began to set it up as a backlight for my tv. I’m pretty tech savvy so this seemed easy enough. WRONG. You would think the lights would AT MOST require a blue tooth connection to your phone- so okay, turn on Bluetooth and just pair to the lights. NOPE. You have to first download the app and make an account, configure your WiFi to their specified 2.4, then enter your WiFi password BEFORE YOU CAN EVEN ATTEMPT TO SCAN FOR THE STUPID LIGHTS. This whole process was designed by a moron I swear to god. And even when you get to this point, you (or at least I) can’t even connect to the lights!!!!! Absolutely outrageous. Never buying one of these products again, and will tell anyone and everyone to avoid making the same mistake. HORRIFYINGLY BAD INSTALLATION. As in, someone should be fired immediately. A 12 year old could have designed a better set up process. Cannot underline my disgust enough..Version: 3.15.0

Generally good, but too many adsThe app is littered with annoying ads, and occasionally there are bugs where my schedule for the lights randomly turns off so that it no longer runs automatically. But most of the time the app works great. It is just janky to use, you can tell there’s not great effort put into the user experience of the app, favouring advertisements for their other products instead.Version: 5.0.11

Power UsageWhilst App seems to do most things the one glaring issue for me is the plug power usage screen - on a standard sized iPhone the text is unreadable due to length of text so not sure what is what. I even tried on Ipad but it’s not native IPad app so same issue.Version: 5.0.16

Ads when using app… why?!?I loved this app and the fact that I was able to turn my lights on and off with my phone. I enjoy a lot of features and still to this day use this app. The last update came with Ads… why?!?! Now when I try to turn my lights on or off, I have to exit out of Ads!! That’s insane! I just want to turn on or off my lights! The number of times I accidentally clicked a pop up Ad while trying to turn off my lights to go to sleep is ridiculous. If I didn’t spend so much on all my lights, I would get rid of it, but now I’m stuck. Buyer beware. Maybe it won’t bother other people as much, but it really irks me when I’m just trying to go to bed and I get pop up Ads just to turn off my freaking lights..Version: 4.5.2

Won’t work withAlexaUseless!! Absolutely useless!! Why am I fighting with yet another “smart” app that is ridiculously trying to make it impossible to lync with me Alexa home. I create an account when I download the app and then I go to Alexa to sync and of course it says I have log into my Gosund account to continue. First ten times I try it just keeps opening my gosund app and then nothing. I tried closing both apps and starting from Alexa, but nothing worked. Until I deleted the gosund app and then seemingly tada and it takes me to a gosund login screen. Oh wait... it wants me to login with my phone number which was never asked for by gosund and seemingly there is nowhere in the gosund app to link your phone number to your account. This makes perfect since... gosund uses your email address to create an account and then tells alexa to log you in with a phone number. Yeah this is a seamless solution to my home automation.😤😔☹️.Version: 3.20.0

No Control Center accessI was at a friend’s house and she pulled out her iPhone, swiped to the Control Center from her lock screen and turned a lamp on from her phone... I thought it was pretty cool so I ordered a smart plug for myself. However, I made the mistake of not ordering the same brand as hers, as when my Gosund plugs arrived and after (some time) of trying to synchronise the plugs, I realised I couldn’t access the toggle switch as a shortcut from my Control Center!! Ok, so I could go into the app and do it from there, or save a link to my home screen, but after a week of trying it this way it wasn’t working out. So I returned the device, deleted the Gosund app and asked my friend to recommend me the brand that she purchased. Sorry Gosund, I tried, but without this feature this app is not for me!.Version: 1.1.6

App is locked on shopping page and no tech supportWorked ok for about 10 weeks; although kind of glitchy. Despite setting up times on switches, lights came on and off randomly upon occasion. Beginning yesterday, when I open the app opens to a shopping screen - to buy more Gosund products - and is locked on this screen. Also my data is locked. I can’t operate switches. They seem to be off the settings. I have tried to find contact info for tech support and only found a site where you could post a question. So far no response. I may have to uninstall, and hope in reinstalling and setting up each and every switch again I can circumvent this problem. I wish I had bought Nest..Version: 3.22.1

United kongdom?Got it today and behold my country is united kongdom instead of kingdom. Made me second guess my purchase immediately. Don’t waste your moneyI have dual WiFi but still the bulbs don’t connect. Never had this trouble with other brands like Tapo and Philips which I connected in less than a minute with ease. Just proves that cheaper is by no means better and I’ll be returning for a refund… less than 24 hours after purchasing!!! App deleted and bulbs packed up for return. If you’re thinking of purchasing a Gosund bulb, take my advice and DON’T. Gosund, get with the times and modern day WiFi speeds so that EVERYONE can purchase your products. I’m not changing my WiFi settings to the Jurassic age just for two light bulbs. Will stick with more upmarket brands and pay the extra from now on..Version: 5.0.18

Very Annoyed About Push AdsWithin the past several hours I’ve received 2 push notifications for product promotions. I didn’t bother reading either of them because I have all the smart home devices I want. A “50% off” sale isn’t going to convince me to buy a product I don’t need or want! I went into the app settings and turned off the switch for push ads. Then I noticed the text that says turning off the ads only lasts for 1 week and then it turns itself back on. Why on earth would ANY company think this is a good idea? I’m done with this company and will never recommend their products again. Feeling embarrassed for all the people who have already taken my recommendation..Version: 5.0.3

Absolutely garbageDo not spend your money on any of these products, if it’s to late don’t open the box & have it returned & get full refund. Terrible customer service & all devices will brake after just a few weeks of being used. I recommend any other company but this.Version: 5.3.5

Automatically changes settingsFor years I didn’t need to use this app to set up my lights. My son & husband accidentally flipped the switch too many times and I had to pair the bulbs again, but oddly I had to use this app. So I downloaded it, created an account (required to pair devices to Alexa) and while setting it up you have the option to uncheck a bunch of junk (such as “sign me up for emails” and “share my data”). I unchecked most of them and when I tapped on next it verified my wifi password and suddenly all the bubbles were checked again and it moved me to the next step. I had to find the options in various settings and remove them again. I have since deleted this app and am throwing away the bulbs I find that require the use of this app!.Version: 5.0.22

Pairing works din in AP mode and not at all with EZNot sure why keeping offering pairing EZ mode, as it never works and waist of time (Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPad Pro 2022). Works better than Lumen. But it is NO match with Apple HomeKit. Sad you do not support Apple HomeKit. Forces me to replace your product with Meross, which supports ALL 3. Pairing with Apple made scanning QR code missing with GoSung. However the hosing smart plugs are way better designed, compact circle, possible to plug 2 on same electric (North America standard double plugs boards). Once plugged, integration with Alexa is easy. Again, no compatibility with Apple HomeKit is deceiving. As customer I don't care if Apple is the problem or is GoSung does not want to pay Apple royalties to integrate with HomeKit! I want a product compatible without being forced to use 2 different applications to manage smart home integration tools. It seems Only Meross understanding this, why can't you? Note: feedback form / Suggestion not working on iPhone 17.4 iOS. GoSung Application. Category is mandatory field and cannot be selected. So cannot submit! French language is pretty good except no setup appears in French. Schedule, colors, time selection... This is not new, and never corrected. And Time Zone America, should be USA /Canada And default Toronto, can be set to Montréal (550 km from Toronto) base on location. Application improved a lot over the years. But GoSung need to work on compatibility..Version: 5.3.5

Constant ads so I can use my lights. LolUpdated Review (29 July 2023): I stopped buying their products as this app is just so annoying. They won’t stop with the in app advertisements. I turn them off, then a few days later, they turn the ad notifications back on. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! Updated Review (20 April 2022): I just got feedback from this review that they now allow us to “disable popups”. They gave instructions on how to disable them (settings, Display Home Banner), then this: “It will automatically resume after a week but you can disable it anytime. Thank you!" WOW, thanks! NO REALLY, THANK YOU! I really wanted to know know to disable advertisements just so you could change the setting back to advertise to us again EVERY 7 DAYS. I will NOT be purchasing or recommending any more products from Gosund. These are the kind of terrible tactics that drive customers away. I would give them zero stars for this but it’s not an option. Shelf life 6 monthsGreat idea to begin with and lights work fine but since the recent app update and after only having the bulbs in for just under 6 months, the device(s) have gone offline. I have re-set, installed the Wi-Fi, the WiFi bulb and still constant flashing rapid and slow! It appears to be a common thread that the issue arises after several months of the initial install. It’s really frustrating! Particularly as it has to be set up and controlled through the app. If they resolved this issue then it would be worth it, but until they do, buy another brand! Hence 2 stars and I waited for a few months before reviewing the app..Version: 3.20.0

Horrendous. Does this company know what QA is?Won’t connect to my Alexa, won’t sync to my internet, colour is not as advertised and app only works if you give it full location services. If you buy lights requiring this app - REFUND & RUN..Version: 5.3.3

Ads that you can’t disable, despite what support says.I bought a Gosund product and was fine with it for a while until I started deciding I wanted to use it daily. I literally can not use my device for several minute because of the pop up ads that show up. I have done every step and enabled/disabled every settings as told and 6 months later I still am getting these pop up ads plus they ignore my feedback. I genuinely wish I could return the product but when I initially bought it I was using it as basically a timer so I didn’t notice until it was too late to return. Now I tried to use it as a switch and honestly it would be faster and easier than having to deal with the ads to just get up and use a real switch or power button. App works to some extent but the company and customer service are horrible in my opinion. Use a different smart device/app pairing and save yourself the time..Version: 4.8.8
