✓ AmazingI would give this game more than 5 stars if I could. It was such an amazing game to play, and there was a lot of gameplay compared to the other arcade games. Plus, the graphics were stunning. Also, the whole feel of the game was very relaxing and you were free to do what you wanted. There was no pressure to finish the game, you could just swim for hours and it felt very very calming..Version: 1.2
✓ This game needs to be in VR!First of all, I just want to say that this game is amazing. The water quality, sound and the movement of the animals and the diver is mesmerizing. I love that you have to scan the animals and behaviors, I can literally play this forever. I’ve always dreamed to be an orca trainer and so when they appeared I swam with them for a while. Also love the fact that you can see their behaviors without it being cutscenes so you can actually interact in it. (Ex. Sardine ball hunt) I’ve had anxiety in my personal life and this game gives me a very relaxed and serene moment. Which made me think... “This needs to be in VR!” I have a friend who works with BirdsEye VR and according to her, if the game has a sponsor they can build it. ~Please please please, make this a VR! ~ Other minor things is that the scroll still glitches and you can only save in the water house. (Saved while diving will make the objectives disappear).Version: 1.3
✓ AMAZING!This single game is the only decent game I’ve seen on Apple Arcade so far. It takes about 3/4 hours to complete the story and then you can do free play mode. The scrolling is extremely messed up when you’re in the sub, but regardless, if you’re considering getting Apple Arcade then get it just for this game. The controls are a bit odd at first, but sensitivity levels can be changed to fit you. You do NOT need a game controller! The settings say something about it but I’m pretty sure they didn’t intend for that to be apart of this or something. The character is female and no other choices because that’s just part of the story. The level of detail is amazing. I only wish they had some more stuff that comes after the story, and that free play is available throughout the game and not just after completing the main story..Version: 1.3

✓ Beautiful, educational game, but oneI love this game and I give it 5 stars! I like how they focus on the whales and put in the beautiful noises! There is one problem though. Whenever I was in the sub the first time, I finished all of the calls and went into the ocean. After I finished following all of the waypoints, Miria said can you send the sub to me? I’m done for now. After that the screen just slowly went black and I only heard the music and never went to the sub! I got off the game, went back on, and I had to start it all over again! I have been starting it over since that happened. It has gotten very boring because of that, I always know what will happen, and I really like this game. ✓ Great game with a few bugsI love this game! More than a game it’s an experience. However, I cannot play it any longer because I was closed out of the app and when I returned it took me from day 12 to day 2. I began to play again and when I closed and came back it still hadn’t saved my progress. Disappointing, hopefully will be patched soon. Also, when I chose the explore miners option it didn’t register accordingly. Other minor errors but those two need to be patched before I am able to play this game again. Hopefully this will be updated accordingly in time..Version: 1.0
✓ Bugs everywhereI’m really really annoying this game to be honest. However, as other have mentioned, the game is full of bugs. For me, it’s in the sub. I can’t change the music at all and when I try to scroll through the animals scanned on the dashboard (the bit infront of the sub window, next to the music player?),it won’t let me scroll past any of the ones it’s decided it wants to focus on 🙄.Version: 1.3
✓ Bad port of a good game?Really enjoyed this game and was looking forward to another game by this developer after playing Never Alone some time ago. I completed with a few crashes but the bigger issue is the sub area between dives appears to be pretty buggy. For me the game usually crashed when a dive was completed and it was trying to load back to the sub, and all the sub interactions that involved a scrolling menu didn’t work properly - including the free dive menu you get after completion, meaning some areas are permanently closed because you can’t scroll to them. The music player also seemed entirely broken, it did not respond to any interactions even though I still got the associated achievements for interacting with it. The dives themselves were enjoyable and rarely buggy and the voice acting in this game is very high quality. Worth playing in spite of the bugs, and if they could be fixed it would easily be a 5-star game for me.Version: 1.3
✓ Would be 5 stars, but...First let me say, I LOVED this game! The gameplay, visuals, learning about the animals, the overall idea of being able to explore the ocean.. it’s great! My only critique is that, for me, I experienced glitching when it came to scrolling. In the submarine, when you go to the center room and click the area that allows you to view all the animals you’ve scanned, it’s almost impossible to scroll to the bottom of the screen. When I attempt to scroll through the list of sea creatures, it blocks me, and keeps auto-scrolling back to the top as I’m attempting to scroll. Almost like I’m playing tug of war and losing. The same is true for the free dive menu that you gain access to after completing the game. I can’t even access all of the areas of the ocean that I’m supposed to be able to free dive in because it won’t allow me to scroll. If this issue wasn’t present, this app would be 5 stars for sure!.Version: 1.3

✓ Awesome!I did find one small bug in that clicking the controls option in the settings closes the pause menu, but that was just curiosity on what the control settings were, no issues with the controls. I also found a pack of white tip reef sharks bunched up in one spot not moving, thought it was a bug, but I later found them normally, so, maybe I just found them earlier than I was supposed to. The camera is a little laggy on occasion in the sub and I’d have preferred it to be centered on Mirai, but the drone cam and the livestream at the start does give it a good reason. The few minor hiccups aside, it’s basically perfect, platinum standard even. Edit: Could be given a text run through, there’s a few errors, but cleanup will only further polish it. Edit2: The ocean sunfish is missing the model, it’s there in the database, but in the game world all I see is the scan point. Edit3: The high stakes decisions don’t seem to make any difference, I tried both the mining investigation and the vent mapping and the outcome is the same, the dialogue is the same as well. Edit4: It’d also be nice if we could access the achievements because I’ve been getting them but no way to access them..Version: 1.0
✓ BeautifulThis really is a beautiful game. Visually, musically and in subject matter too. Took a little while to get used to the controls but they actually emulate the difficulty in manoeuvring whilst diving very well. Gorgeous relaxed gameplay whilst also always that little bit of surprise and unknown. First played it on iPad Pro and thought it looked great. Now tried it in iPhone 11 and it looks magnificent. A real gem in the Arcade store - you will not be disappointed..Version: 1.2
✓ Really really short game:(I personally thought it was a fantastic game that was really unique and fun. I’ve always wanted a game like this. The graphics are amazing, but one thing I thought was extremely disappointing is how short the game actually is. ✓ Beyond BlueI absolutely love this game; however, they seriously need to fix the maneuver malfunctions, the picture keeps coming and going, you almost never have a complete clear picture of what you are doing. The game is so much fun to play, but these malfunctions going on make it very hard to keep playing. Whenever they occur most of the time I have to save my game and reboot the app. Also it would also be awesome to have a light option where if you are in the atoll - light where it could make it easier to see the objects and everything in the very bright part. And the large setting options make it very hard to keep playing the game without the risk of your hand clicking one of those options and pausing. I would love to see that condensed to a little toolbar maybe on the bottom of the screen..Version: 1.4

✓ It’s great but...I enjoyed this game very much. I like the ability to scan the animals and learn about them but I think you should be able to scan the flora too. Also I found that the Ocean Sunfish and Moon Jellies don’t actually appear in game but their scan markers do. Just a minor bug. Also I can’t help but wish that this game was a bit longer. ✓ BeautifulI am absolutely obsessed with this game. It’s beautiful and so adventurous. After playing for a bit I got back to the sub and it booted me out of the game. When opening the game back up I clicked continue and it was not where I left off so I went back and clicked load and it was not where I left off either. Super fun game but I don’t want to have to start the section over and redo everything. UPDATE: after first boot. Had no further issues. ✓ New expeditions please!!This game was my introduction to arcade games and it was sooo great. It’s visually beautiful and I loved the story line! The control I had was amazing! It ended way too soon though! I finished it and felt so disappointed that the storyline didn’t go on further or there weren’t a few other expeditions you could start after finishing one! ✓ Amazing game! Only one big issue...I started playing this game yesterday, and I got so sucked into it that I just couldn’t bring myself to stop playing until I’d finished it! I love so much about this game: the calming atmosphere; getting to learn about ocean life; the fact that you can wander off to swim with the dolphins, orcas, etc. or just look around and the game won’t yell at you to finish your goal! And unlocking free dive at the end was really the icing on the cake. Unfortunately, I did have a problem with scrolling in the sub. Trying to scroll through the log or the free dive menu in the sub was basically impossible as it would just bounce back to the top almost immediately. Besides that, my only wish for this game is that there was MORE! I wish there were more animals! I wish you could interact with them a bit more instead of just one scene with the dolphins. ✓ Amazing story!I love this game! The characters, setting, creatures, music, and most of all story line! I also really liked the little clips you could watch whilst going through the game, I learned knew things through them. The plot and the way it’s narrated is amazing, great voice acting unlike a lot of other games I’ve played. The end had me crying though, but that’s just ‘cause I’m emotional. ✓ Beautiful but incompleteI really enjoyed the visuals and the educational aspect, the game felt well researched and makes for a fun and engaging introduction to marine biology. Super immersive and realistic, unlike any other game experience - the dive simulations are really magical and exciting and you truly feel like you’re exploring the ocean. My main complaint is that the story ended on a bit of a sad and abrupt note, that was kind of depressing. The game is really short, I downloaded last night and finished it this morning so it would be great to see some more dives added maybe in some new locations. ✓ Magnificent!I just got through playing this on my Xbox, having no idea until the very end, when the credits rolled, that it was also available on Apple Arcade. This game is magnificent and presents the wonder and awe I still, to this day, feel whenever I am on or in the ocean. I’m a kayaker and one of my sisters is a marine biologist (a whale scientist, believe it or not!) and the game is pretty true-to-life in most respects. I’ll have to see if I can introduce it to my sister the next time I see her to find out any quibbles she might have, but from a laywoman’s perspective, it’s truly wonderful. I’m scientifically literate enough to follow everything, but it’s equally fabulous for kids, too. Don’t miss this great experience (I hesitate to call it a game; it’s more a journey)..Version: 1.2

✓ Amazing game, except for the savingMy whole life I have wanted to be a marine biologist, so naturally I LOVE this game. The graphics are amazing and the music helps me zone out of what’s happening around me and really emerge my self into this ocean world. However every time I make a little progress the screen freezes or blacks out and my saves don’t work. After the update I was able to progress a little but now I’m stuck in a loop again. I love the diving experience so I don’t mind replaying the dives but I’m invested into the story and want to progress..Version: 1.2

✓ It’s good but there’s important glitches.While I’ve completed the storyline, I also am not able to scan the fish below the whale shark. They show up on the map as unscanned but there’s no dots to scan them, and they won’t scan no matter what angle I try to get. I read somewhere this was fixed, I’m assuming it was for either console or steam but not on iOS. It’s definitely frustrating as a player who wants to finish all the achievements. For that reason I probably won’t play again unless there’s an update fixing that issue, it seems like a pain to scan every fish but those, especially when using the map to find unscanned fish and finding the whale shark so often. The game was really fun but I felt like there were a lot of unanswered questions that left the game feeling unfinished. There were also instances where things were brought up by a character that I know shouldn’t have known certain details because it wasn’t shared with them. There was also conversations that I didn’t realize were arguments and it was confusing when Mirai was so upset. The end of the game felt really rushed. That said I feel like this game really shines with its graphics and ocean exploration and the story is just a bonus to give it more purpose. I’m not sure how accurate the size comparison is of the sea life vs a person but it was really interesting to see. I definitely enjoyed this game in many ways..Version: 1.6

✓ Living the story!First of all, the graphics in this game are awesome! They let you live the story through Miria! Second of all, The fact that the sub lets you use real oceanic style music is pretty cool. The best part of it is that you can scroll through so many songs that you can actually listen to in real life! Third of all, Scanning the animals is pretty cool. After you scan them you can look at the database and learn about these real animals. ✓ Love this game! But it’s glitching for me at the momentLove this game! It’s gorgeous! I was playing recently and it started black screen-ing me in middle of gameplay. I could move and see objectives with the viewfinder but black screen otherwise so I can’t see anything to move on. I have tried deleting and re-downloading the app, I’ve tried restarting the device itself and reloading the saved game, in the place where it glitches, left during the glitch and went back in and it still was there. ✓ PhenomenalI just finished this game and let me tell you... this was the most fascinating game I think I have ever played (at least on an iPhone). Not only were the graphics good but this game was easy to play and rather calming...and it also had a wildly interesting story that made me not want to put my phone down. The music was great (I even discovered some new artists I like) and most importantly I learned more about the ocean than I did before starting this game. I’ve always had an interest in marine life and what lies beneath the Big Blue but this game even had me googling things I didn’t know much about (ex: fluke, whale sightings...etc). ✓ Love it already!I’ve played for about 10 minutes so far, and I’m loving it! It is VERY well done! One issue I’m having (and I notice has already been mentioned on other reviews) is that when tapping on the control settings, it bugs out and kicks you out of the menu. I did, however, find a work around. If you hold the option instead of just tap on it, you can adjust the settings. As soon as you release the button, it kicks you out of the menu. So for now, if anyone needs to change settings in that menu, just keep your finger on the button and you’ll be able to make your adjustments)!.Version: 1.0

Beyond Blue is the best so far - it's informative, emotional and beautifully narrated. It's definitely for people who want to read more and know more in-depth about whales, other ocean creature and human impacts. ✓ Good Game, but.....I played this for 3 hrs. Saved game. Returned to reload one of two stored , and my version on both iPad Pro and iPhone 10 (both iOS 14.2) loaded to beginning of a new game. Erased all saved content. I enjoyed this unusually gameplay enough to give it a second try. Then would reload. Either a corrected upgrade or a glitch (on my end?). I’d recommend playing a short time, then making sure you can save then reload before committing more time. Would be a wonderful game without this episode. I wish there was a bit more interaction with animals. The game could be way more extensive and in depth with more creatures and maybe a progress bar to studying different things and behaviors. ✓ This game is GREAT!Normally, I’m not one to write reviews, but looking through some of the other ones left here, I decided I should give some imput. One common statement I had come across was this game was a mobile version of Subnatica, and while it does have some similarities, this is NOT just a carbon copy of it. It story and visuals are beautifully done, and the atmosphere pulls you into the incredible world of our oceans. I played it fully in one sitting and couldn’t get enough of it!! ✓ Good game ... glitches fixed!UPDATE: SO before the update came out, I figured out how to go through the game without losing my progress...DON’T STOP! I just pressed through the final stages of the game without quitting... how many games can you say that about? The graphics were great and I did enjoy my time playing. I would recommend this game for all age levels. ESPECIALLY kids! ALSO...after the update, my game completion had saved and I was able to go back and swim throughout all the stages. ✓ Update to fix issuesThe app is great but that first release not saving ongoing progress was very disappointing- on my first session Identified and logged 18 different sealife and the next session just 6 had been saved so this means basically starting again - very disappointed. Hopefully the patch fixes this issue as I gave up using it cause each time not all was being saved..Version: 1.2

✓ Beautiful and hauntingThis is the first review I’ve ever written for a game. That enough should tell you about how magnificent this game is. I don’t know what I was expecting when I downloaded it, but it turned out to be one of my favorite mobile games. The sounds the creatures made, the sounds of being underwater, it was all so realistic and beautiful. The visuals were incredible from the very beginning and although I’ve never been super interested in the ocean, I was immediately hooked. I even completed the entire game in one sitting. At first, I was worried the game would be too repetitive with nonstop dives, but the addition of the submarine you can explore, the calls you make to the other characters, even the music selection had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. The phone calls and storyline gives so much personality to the characters and the emotional twists made me feel like I was the one in the diving suit. I was so attached to the characters I’m fully invested in André and his turtles, Ren and Nana, and Irina and her research. If there is a sequel in the making, I would play it the instant it’s released. I am amazed at the team who made this game, very well done! I would recommend everyone to play this game, no doubt about it..Version: 1.2

When I played, it was just so beautiful and eye-opening to the threats we pose to our oceans, and how we can help. I don’t know what else to say- normally for Apple Arcade games, if I write a review, I usually list the pros and cons of the app. I would do it for this, but Beyond Blue is practically flawless, except for the fact it crashed maybe 2 or 3 times while I played it. It is a game that’s really fun, but perhaps could be longer. And I know, you devs worked so hard on this to make it realistic. And I appreciate that. But maybe in the future, I don’t know, add it to where you can still swim around? After you come back in the end to see that the whale is an auntie? Maybe you could scan the new baby and swim around with them. Besides that, LOVE THIS GAME. ✓ Emotional journey everyone should experienceBeyond Blue was my first introduction to Apple Arcade and what a way to start things off! Visually the game is stunning, there are some clunky controls at times but you easily get use to or forget this as your entrancesed in the emotional storyline. ✓ CrashingIt’s an amazing game! But there is one problem that only started occurring recently. Whenever I open the game it crashes immediately and I don’t know what to do. I really don’t want to lose all my progress and try deleting the app and reinstalling it. I have already tried turning my phone off all the way and turning it back on and it didn’t work. ✓ Keeps Glitching at Helm ChairI love love love this game and I really wanna continue forward, but each time I complete a dive and make my way to the helm chair it glitches out, doesn’t take me to the call screen, and I can’t exit the chair at all. I have no other choice but to close the game. I tried reinstalling it and that fixed it for the first dive but now it’s doing it on the second.
