Needs workHaving a great time with my friends but the whole online menu system is a nightmare, a party system where you play the game together would be much better than having to re-team up for every single individual dungeon.Version: 1.0.3

Backbone controller supportPlease include support for the Backbone controller support..Version: 1.2.0

Awful loading times iPad ProLoading times are long voice overs are so wrong.Version: 1.0.3

Game playToo hard to play Character not strong enough at start Can’t get past first level.Version: 1.2.0

Adequate but could be the bestWhen I first read that this game was being ported to IOS I was so elated. I’ve spent months and months playing this game with my childhood best friends. It means a lot to me that Square Enix would bring this game to this platform. That being said this port needs just a little more work and I think that it would be one of the best games on the IOS library. It needs local play, and it NEEDS controller support for multiple players to be able to play on one IPad. With these two things I think you could have a real winner here. When these are done it’s an automatic 5 star for me. Thank you Square..Version: 1.1.0

This is really bad. This was a favorite game of mine from my childhood. The fact that the GameCube version of this game is better is really embarrassing for SE. putting aside that this game is expensive for a mobile game (I also played on Switch) and that they put micro Trx in there... the game is buggy. The gameplay is bad. Region locked online. No couch coop. Apparently you can’t even use two devices on the same network... so if your friend downloads the game on their Switch or phone they can play with you on the same WiFi. Also the lack of rewards for playing online makes it so no one will want to play online. This is a really bad launch..Version: 1.0.3

TrashTrash good luck killing anything after year 5.Version: 1.2.0

Missed this game!Only thing I really don’t like about this game are the controls on mobile. Just make the pick up items off the floor button the same as the attack. Really giving me carpal tunnel syndrome just to press the middle of the screen..Version: 1.1.0

Bye byeNo controller support and huge letterbox on iPad Pro. Bye bye see ya later..Version: 1.0.3

Controller supportI want to relive my childhood and I want to do that while playing on a controller stick, I have yet to fill engaged as I once did as a kid like I want to. Other than that you’ve done mostly everything else right..Version: 1.2.0

Hugely disappointingLike a so called free mobile game - that is, super grindy and boring - but costs $40. Boo - urns 🙄🧐👿.Version: 1.0.3

No controller support? For real?Seriously, you remake this game for the ps4 and switch at the same time as iPadOS and you don’t add controller support? Embarrassing. It dropped on my bday, I remember getting it fo my bday a few months after the original came out, i was looking forward to reliving a bit of my childhood and was so disappointed. This game could be easily fixed even if they don’t add controller support by adding dedicated buttons on screen for interact/item pickup, attack, and defend. They can leave the flipping between spells and attack as it adds a decent amount of difficulty to the game, but reaching across a 13 inch iPad to pick up an item is a nightmare. Multiplayer is annoying too, if someone FaceTimes me I get booted from the game, you cant venture through the game together like the old one and progress side by side, you just spend time in menus... waiting. Seriously, small tweaks could save this game..Version: 1.0.3

Messes up FFCC’s best feature: Local MultiplayerLet’s be honest: The original FFCC was not a good game as far as FF titles go. The combat was slow and repetitive, the leveling (or artifact progression) was painfully grindy, and the narrative was practically non-existent. What FFCC did have, however, was true, local multiplayer integrated into the campaign from start to finish, and that just isn’t here. If Square Enix would patch in the REAL shared campaign multiplayer - the one that kept me and my friends yelling at the TV for hours - I’d happily bump my review to 5 stars and would probably end up buying the full game. Without it, however, this remake just highlights how shallow the original game was without friends and just isn’t worth the time or money..Version: 1.1.0

MULTIPLAYERProducers of FFCC. Please know that the low rating is not because of any other reason then not being able to have the multiplayer experience we had on the GameCube, and to be able to save the game with the same people and progress in the game together. THAT IS IT. This game is a master piece, but whoever thought it was a good idea not to be able to progress in the game as a 4 player team is a moron. Please fix this and the ratings will go up I ASSURE YOU!!!.Version: 1.2.0

More disappointment in a time of disappointmentWhen I heard this game was getting remastered I was so excited I’ve been talking about it none stop since the original announcement and was sad to hear it get pushed back but was still optimistic to get to be able to enjoy this Game Cube classic in 2020 then Covid hit and I was like OH BOY what a time to get Crystal Chronicles remastered!!! But sadly this game is not what I expected or dreamed of... 1. The multiplayer aspect of the game is just laughable only the person who’s hosting gets to progress while everyone else in the party is just there for the ride so hypothetically if u were playing with 3 friends you’d have to redo a dungeon 3x for everyone to get the myrrh. 2. LOAD TIMES just just come one man the load times are worse now than on the GC 3. The DLC weapons are as strong as the best weapons in the base game so if u get them you just breeze through the whole thing. 4. The skins you gotta be kidding me all the skins are almost the same price as the game AND WHY IS THERE NO SKINS FOR LILTYS?! 5. The end game dungeons are on a rotation based on REAL TIME so you can’t just hop into the one you want to do with your buds whenever. Okay well that’s my disappointing experience with the game hopefully it gets updated and they fix the problems....Version: 1.0.3

Great looking remaster lacking controller supportI loved the original version of this game and was excited to see the remaster! However I had hoped to play multiplayer with the console version in our house so I’m on mobile. I knew iOS had good controller support these days and was disappointed when it didn’t work. I hope that change is made as it greatly affects my view of this port. Otherwise the game looks like I remember, that is to say it looks a lot better than the original did and I hope to play it on some platform with friends soon..Version: 1.0.3

BadThis is a shame. Control, netcode, loading screen, everything is completely wrong. How a remaster can offer a worse experience than the original ?.Version: 1.0.3

It’s fineThe free version is way too short, the controls are crappy and the multiplayer is barely playable. Everytime I enter multiplayer, it gets all laggy and I get thrown out because of it. My internet connection is excellent and so is my phone..Version: 1.0.3

No controller compatibilityI played this game originally and loved it. I’ve been so excited for months to play this game and that it was available on iOS.. I’m disabled and haven’t been able to afford the new consoles because of medical bills. This game was originally designed for a GameCube controller so I figured of course I’d be able to use a controller with it. Only to find out it’s impossible and the controls on the touchscreen are so horrible and have me so far behind my roommate on PS4 that it’s nearly unplayable. Even the rotating menus are a pain as you can’t swipe them you have to emulate a controller for them. The opposite of intuitive and as a long time final fantasty fan(played every game since the original on nes) and avid player of Xiv I expected more from square. Very disappointed. Don’t waste money on this. Not worth it unless they add controller usage..Version: 1.0.3

Definitely needs some workI played this game with my siblings as a kid and I’m honestly disappointed in this remaster. I have no problem with the fact that you can’t connect controllers, and the controls on this game are honestly fine and it runs smoothly most of the time. It’s the lack of local play—and this goes for the PS4 version as well. In the original, you and your friends were in a caravan together. It wasn’t like matchmaking only at the dungeon; you got to play with your friends uninterrupted. All of you were able to get myrrh, not just the host. As a caravan, you would travel together and go into towns together. It would be much better for there to be a team leader who decides where everyone goes. The matchmaking is fine to an extent, but the classic local play was an incredible experience that matchmaking will never be. As for the new features, I do like the new character options (except for the new female Selkie and new male Clavat, but that’s just personal preference) and add-ons to the diary section. The design of the menus has also been greatly improved. Apparently there are new dungeon features, too, but I haven’t seen any so far. As it is now, the full version of this game has no business being $24. There are a lot of improvements that could be made..Version: 1.0.3

I use to love this gameBack in high school I would play this game for hours with my friends I was excited to see a remake so I could show my kids. When I revised that I would have to by four copies of the game through the In game unlock I was crushed. It does not work with family share so for each family member it will have to be paid for additionally..Version: 1.2.0

Square ruins what used to be amazing multiplayer. In the original game you got to make a town of friends to go on an adventure with seamlessly, traveling together. Square thought this game play was just "too good", so they completely destroyed the multiplayer by making it a cheap 1 player game where you invite a friend to play when starting a dungeon, then it disbands after. It's complete garbage now! I have no idea how involved with this can be proud of their garbage work on it.Version: 1.0.3

Needs controller support and new Netcode!!!I would purchase the game if it supported controllers. After 20 minutes, I won’t even play anymore. The touch controls and menus are awful. Ridiculous when there is a console release at the same time and they scrap the controller support out of the mobile release. Online is laggy, only host gets credit, must disconnect from entire party to change hosts. You can’t trade with party members and end up with loot you can’t use or don’t want. DLC is P2W easy mode. Edit: took 75 days for the second update. Still NO controller support when there is a console version. Loot drops are a disaster, you end up with items you can’t use and you can’t trade loot with people. Avoid purchasing..Version: 1.2.0

No Controls = Limited SkillWhen I saw that this game as the same one I remembered playing on GameCube I was excited to give it a try. I even bought a kishi razor so I could play it with a controller so I can have a similar experience. Sadly… I found out it doesn’t support controllers at all. Now don’t get me wrong, I won’t dis a game just because it doesn’t support controllers. However sadly when the touch screen controls are so unintuitive, it makes the experience very lackluster and frustrating in more difficult levels. You won’t be able to block or switch to spells fluidly during fights like you could with controller because they decided to make you slide to switch instead of just pressing a “next” option. This all just limits crazy things you can pull off and sadly I would say just play it if you are fine dodging and W+M1 swinging. However don’t think your going to be able to use crazy skills in succession with the controls as they currently are..Version: 1.2.0

Not worth itThere are free games more exciting than this one. First off they cannot resize the game for tablet so it has borders on the top and bottom that in total take up 1/3 your screen! The they want to charge you 25$ for the full version? There are plenty of free games with better gameplay and much better controls! And I bet this game would get a better rating and bee more playable with a controller, so you can attack/cast spells/move without going to a menu or that stupid flip option that you have to pay attention to while you are getting killed by enemies. Overall there are much better games that have more rational devs/money grubers..Version: 1.0.3

Major glitches with add on content and data transferAppears to have some glitches. 1) When clicking the “Add-On Content” button on the bottom right of the start screen I get and error message “Unable to Retrieve Product List”. 2) When attempting to use the transfer feature, the game data uploads fine from my iPhone but I am unable to transfer it to my iPad due to the message stating that transfer feature is only available on the full game. However, I cannot seem find the “full game” in the App Store and the Add-On Content continue to be unavailable so if the full game is served up via the Add-On Content I currently have no way to purchase it. I’ll update my rating to 5-stars once these major bugs are fixed..Version: 1.0.3

Nostalgia, but..They couldn’t figure out how to connect friends in the same Tipa village online. I’m actually amazed that they can’t/won’t allow people to join a single Tipa. If you never played the original, you may not realize yet how bad that inhibits progress for everyone. It’s fine as single player, but it’s a tragedy for coop. I’ll wait for an update to change my review. I have the full version on switch. SQEnix, please update it! I would have paid $60 for that good online connection in the same village..Version: 1.0.3

Did they spend all their time tying an anchor to this albatross?3 GB download to be forced to watch a half hour unskippable intro? Splash screen that struggles with exactly zero functionality? Did anyone at Square Enix ever load this? This is awful. This is literally the worst beginning of any app I’ve downloaded, ever. And did NO ONE, not a single person on that half hour long credit reel, stand up and think, “if I introduce this to a friend, and I’m going to sit here and waste my visit with them waiting for them to sit through this awful video and then go home, having wasted all our time together without any playing and THAT will be how we remember FFCCRE.”? Why do I need to sit through this half hour list of names of who made the game? So I remember who to Google and never buy anything they’re involved with in the future because WOW did they think at all about anyone wanting to PLAY the game? And the interface is so clunky you would have to think it’s some high school kid’s JAVA interpreter running inside a Minecraft red stone computer..Version: 1.0.3

Multiplayer BrokenYou can’t actually play the story with friends. You can only play individual maps. Which don’t count toward the completion of the story for anyone but the host. Worse still, the game is pretty clearly designed to be a multiplayer experience so it is pretty boring solo.Version: 1.0.3

Fun but might be inhibited by touch controlsI never owned a GameCube so I never got to play this game when I heard great things about it. The first thing I noticed is the top and bottom bars that take up a chunk of the screen. I wish they’d optimized this so the whole screen is used. Being an FF fan I’m used to and enjoy the story in the games and was surprised to find little story to interact with. Especially with your character being a custom made silent type protagonist. That said, the gameplay is quite fun and I hope I get to find people to play multiplayer with since that looks to be the best way to play this. The touch controls work against the combat mechanics, however. I think with a controller it was easier but having to swipe a tiny portion of the screen to switch commands is a real pain. I’m sure that if they update the game to have controller support this will not be an issue for me. Until then, I might wait to continue playing as I’m not interested in battling the touch controls. I feel that it would make me dislike the game if I continue playing it this way so I’ll wait for controller support if it happens. tl;dr Story is lacking but presentation and art direction are great and fun gameplay even though it’s limited by touch controls..Version: 1.0.3

Great remaster with a multiplayer problemThis game is great (on switch and I’m getting used to the controls on mobile) and is mostly a perfect remaster for single player (except for painting Mog cause I’m confused on if he has a higher chance of casting a spell if he’s painted fully or it’s guaranteed) but multiplayer shouldn’t be region locked at all (others complain about progress not being saved but that’s perfectly normal considering they could be on year 2+ without purchasing the game) And with the choice for mobile being on American or European server for a one and only choice bothers me. Please unlock online multiplayer for everyone because that’s what the original Crystal chronicles was made for: playing with your friends..Version: 1.0.3

Incredibly disappointedAfter two hours of trying to host, join or otherwise play this game with another person, connections timed out within a minute of a dungeon starting every single time. For a game that has multiplayer as a selling point, it doesn’t even get the basics right of being able to start a game with a friend. Even when hosting from my PS4 with the fully paid game, there were constant drop outs. Square box should be ashamed of themselves for this atrocious lobby design and terrible multiplayer experience - I had been really looking forward to this game and it’s really bummed me out how poor the execution of this remaster is..Version: 1.0.3

Was excited, not anymoreThe whole point of the game is to play with friends easily now that we all have phones. I bought 4 gameboy SP back in the day and the link cable to play this great game with my friends. When news was this is coming to phones I was thinking “it will be so much easier now because we are all connected anyway.” This is not the FFCC from before. Online play is literally join and dump players each time. You can’t progress your town together, watch each family grow as the different players send materials home. None of that is in this game..Version: 1.1.0

BoringGeeze, you would think that Square Enix doesn’t have any competition in the world. I loved this game when it was on the Nintendo gamecube, but man has this aged poorly. It felt like it took almost 20minutes to do anything remotely feeling like gameplay. I eventually just deleted this. Really TOO slow paced when competing for attention against the thousands of other games. Not your best, SE..Version: 1.1.0

Sound doesnt workTried redownloading and restarting iphone but sound just doesnt work.Version: 1.0.3

Great! But...Controls needs improvement for mobile.Version: 1.0.3

A game about memoriesIs unfortunately going to remain a memory. As a price point, I think $40 is a bit much for a game from 2003. It’s disappointing that the remaster made the basic features of the game worse. Picking up items feels awful, especially since magic can roll around. Moving around the map with touch controls feels bad as well. I still love the game, and wish I could recommend this to my friends. But for the price and the lack of polish in the touch controls I never could..Version: 1.2.0

GarbageHorrible combat Horrible gameplay.Version: 1.0.3

No funThe game is very redundant in the way you need to just avoid an attack and counter attack to kill everything and the controls are horrible. The game is very boring doing the same dungeons over and over so you can get enough stats when you get stuck on a level because the enemies are too strong. Final fantasy crystal chronicles rings of fate was so good when it came out for DS and I was expecting this remaster to be similar to that. Don’t waste your money on this trash.Version: 1.0.3

Control is horrible and not full co-opScroll left or right to switch attack, defend or spell is bad ideal. It is slow. Have a way that customize where we want the button to attack, defend and spell or more slot. Attack button when you near object it change to pickup/talk. You touch on the button it will pickup/talk to npc. I go to my village not able to see friends. Another bad idea to, why not keep everything the same like GameCube and just add multiplayer online. Remastered still offer co-op but this time it’s centered a round online connections and so couch co-op is foolishly excluded this means you can’t make caravan trips with friends. You can only play dungeons with them. It makes more like you just solo what the point of multiplayer when everything is not connected to each other. Need to add feature friends to join family trade and able to trade with friends items also dungeons everyone get credits Myrrh. Selling point of the game was same village, trade item and go together multiplayer without this I wouldn’t recommended anyone to buy this game at all. It is opposite of the original game..Version: 1.0.3

Please fix the online connectionAs the title please fix the online connection time out. Overall a good game, was really getting excited to play story but for the most part more of online just to get timed out every 50 secs or so!!.Version: 1.0.3

Huge Disappointment - Remake is worse than the originalI was so excited for this game to came out. I played it with my siblings on GC and we even bought multiple link cables to be able to play coop. I was excited to hear that this one offered coop (without the need of multiple gameboys and link cables) but it turns out they cut it for “some reasons” in favor of online multiplayer... The online multiplayer in this is ONLY for dungeons. There is no shared home village, you cannot explore the villages together, or trade materials b/w players, everything is solo now. You cant even progress through the dungeons together because ONLY THE HOST PLAYER SAVES ANY PROGRESS. So if you are playing with a group of ppl, you'd have to do the dungeon once with each player hosting... Needless to say with all of my favorite features being cut I will not be purchasing this game and instead play the original..Version: 1.0.3

Australian Servers not workingAt the time of writing the Australian servers are messed up and my wife and I have been unable to play together for longer than 20 seconds without being kicked. Please fix your servers so I can encourage my friends to buy this, other I cannot in good faith..Version: 1.0.3

It’s pretty goodIt runs smoothly on my phone, but it’s a tad bit unfortunate that it’s region locked. I live in Korea, and have been here for about a year. I can’t play with my friends back home (in the US) which was the main reason why I got the game on switch/iOS. Also, there is no local co-op; it’s all done on this clunky online system. It’s still a good game, because it feeds my nostalgia, but they could/should have done so much better. Hopefully they’ll do a lot of updates... lol.Version: 1.0.3

No controller support in 2020 seems a pretty big oversight. The game performs well on the 2018 iPad Pro, and of course the original game is one of the all time greats. But not including controller support in a game like this is pretty rough. MFi controllers have been around forever, and in 13+ we’ve had PS4 and XBOX controllers natively supported. I’m very surprised that Square opted to do the clunky onscreen touch controls (that have never been great, let’s not kid ourselves) as the only option. Especially considering that this game came from consoles, and is releasing on Switch/PS4 as well. Seems like you went out of you way to NOT have controller support here, which is baffling. So even a game as great as Crystal Chronicles can’t be a strong recommendation in this state. It’s a solid 5/5 with controller support, but for now it’s a 3. Sorry. I love the game itself and Square’s mobile offerings have always been solid. But in 2020 a lack of controller support on any game that would greatly benefit from it has to be called out, especially on iPad which is more and more a laptop form factor for a lot of folks..Version: 1.0.3

We don’t really play togetherUnlike the original FFCC, players do not progress the story or towns together, nor do we see each other outside of dungeons. The big draw of the original was being able to have the whole game be co-op. It feels lonely and the multiplayer is clunky and you spend so much time in menus to play with friends, it’s honestly a shame. Not to mention the connectivity issues my friends and I experienced the whole time. It’s not fun to be kicked out due to a long cutscene and your iPhone goes to sleep. I lost all my progress in a level this way. Being in “time out” when you are trying to fix your group is awful as well. I’m giving one star to at least say that single player works. Multiplayer? Hard pass..Version: 1.0.3

Please remove paywallGame is amazing can’t fault it but the only thing I have a problem with is having the full game behind a pay Wall. But still amazing game other then that one thing.Version: 1.0.3

Useless on mobile. Not even worth the play on mobile, controls are clunky and hard to use efficiently. Just add CONTROLLER SUPPORT, come on why waste everyone’s time?.Version: 1.0.3

DisappointedThis game growing up was a all time favorite, a big aspect was to be able to play with my friends. This games multiplayer functions is what is really holding this game back from its shine. Make it to where the players can go to the same town as each other and just to move as one party. This gets fixed it will be a 5 star.Version: 1.2.0

Controller supportController support please.Version: 1.2.0

Classic Square EnixThis company never ceases to amaze me with how morally bankrupt they are. The game is nothing special and it’s exactly what SE do best.. mediocre game with hidden payment if you want to keep playing..Version: 1.0.3

Save corrupted 12hrs inI think the game is brillant but 12 hours in and my main save and auto save both now say “this save is incompatible”. I want my £20+ back to be honest what a waste of time. Can’t find any support for the issue. If it can’t handle the practicality of a mobile device and safeguarding save files then don’t sell the game for over 20 quid on the platform.Version: 1.0.3

Just terribleGeo locked servers and unskippable cutscene. What is this? 1998?.Version: 1.0.3
