Game of Thrones: Tale of Crows for Negative User Reviews

Atmospheric but lots of waiting and down timeThere are some cool parts of this choose your own adventure game - the music and dialogue feel very bleak and true to GOT style. However, there are some significant downsides. Because it’s a story game that is mostly text-based, it’s really disruptive that you have to wait so long for the next dialogue to happen (there’s nothing else to do in game in the interim). I’ll put the game away and then lose the thread of what the expedition was meant to do, etc. it’s also not clear what real consequences my choices have. The length of time between dialogue makes the game a bit boring. I’d prefer the ability to speed things up even if it makes the time to complete the game shorter..Version: 2.0

What did you say?Playing on iPad Pro. Comically tiny text. Need a Hubble telescope to read it. Cheers developers!!!!.Version: 1.0.6

PointlessAesthetically, it’s cool and evoked a management or city sim style of game. It is not that, which is fine, a cool idle narrative game can be a lot of fun; for instance check out The Yawg. You’re given a bunch of choices and characters, and events happen as you make your choices. This has all the promise but none of the deliver, I played for days and days, making choices accruing more and more characters and nothing happens. Like nothing. Maybe lose a character with zero fan fair, if you’re not paying attention you wouldn’t notice anyway. It’s pointless and eventually you get the same scenarios and text with no progression or events. I’m not even sure what the devs were going for or if they even finished the game or I ended up with a bug where it’s some kind of Groundhog Day scenario where nothing matters and no advancement can happen. Not worth your time..Version: 2.0.2

I really want to love it...It could be such a good game, I’ve probably being playing for a week or so. All you get are regurgitated story lines and the lord that I’d hoped for is not there. Now after the latest update the app won’t even load and keeps cutting out..Version: 1.0.4

EXTREMELY blahBeen playing this game on and off for a while thinking something would happen eventually to my disappointment. 2 stars are simply for the art, it’s great. The game is a huge whatever..Version: 2.0.2

Nice art style, but quickly boringI think it is lacking, and it would really benefit from at least one additional layer like resource management or maybe building. Right now it’s just a bunch of mainly repeating quests and once in a while getting a new event. I was actually just thinking how great this game could have been with a little more city-builder or something out of Kairosoft’s various sims. Making sure the blacksmith is working, developing new weapons, shoring up defenses and so on. I’m sure that’s what the commander of the Watch would be doing anyway..Version: 1.0.0

I want to like this game, but...I want to like this game but they used time to stretch out poor game design. “I don’t know how we can make this game more complex.” ....”Just add 20-30 minute time gaps between interactions. “ It looks beautiful and there is so much potential, but this is a perfect example of a dropped ball. Go play absolutely anything else, it will be a better time investment. It’s like they wanted to add micro transactions to speed things up but couldn’t figure out how..Version: 1.0.7

I’m theory a good game. Execution was awfulThe thought process behind this game and what it could have been is there. The game itself is another story. Lazy at best effort from the developer. They haven’t updated the game in over 3 months now either, so seems they’ve given up on it too.Version: 1.0.7

Good some bugsThe TVOS version has a bug in Expeditions where you can’t choose options if they have a Trait next to them..Version: 3.0.0

Starts and ends well...A GoT idle game is a bit of a winner for me regardless. The art style here is gorgeous and the general style of play is ok, that said - it does get tedious when you constantly get the same options when sending out Ranging parties. This game is missing a resources and battle matrix. Then it would be amazing. I finished this inside a week at a leisurely pace..Version: 1.0.0

Good to begin with but....Quickly tails off. First time I played it went through right the end of the particular story arc I had followed in 2 days. I went through about 6 Lord Commanders. I started again knowing the consequence of certain decisions, however, after 4 days playing with the first Lord Commander I selected, he hasn’t died and nothing is happening. Just going round in a continual loop of the troops being hungry, doing ranging missions, cutting down trees and the troops being hungry, oh and occasionally someone getting sick and dying but they are then replaced. At a loss now as to what to do in the game. As I said, first time it progressed fairly quickly but this time, nothing is happening that I can see. The game needs worked on to ensure people don’t get caught in a loop like I am..Version: 1.0.4

Bug in recruiting members for the watchI love the game but there is a bug (for me at least) when I accept travelers wanting to join the watch, no new names pop up to I get act with like the have usually. Also I wish there was a more interactive element to tide you over between ravens and visitors. That would really elevate this to another level.Version: 1.0.7

Crashes all the timeUnplayable, crashes everytime you click on anything..Version: 1.0.3

Started off great but got repetitive after a while[update2] reduced to 1 star: definitely buggy and something broke. Constantly repeating options, broken/corrupted text. It’s a mess [update] Reducing stars because it has gotten quite buggy. Eg dialog choices sometimes don’t register - the same choice pops up again immediately. At one point screen was stuck at the season transition for days The game started off promising, engaging enough to keep me coming back but not too much that it doesn’t hog too much of my time like other games, perfect for a short distraction during the day. Not to mention beautifully designed in visuals and content. I think more games need to be designed this way as fillers That said after a while I feel I may have exhausted the storyline, while it keeps going the missions and content seem to repeat themselves - eg same missions such as scouting the north or clearing the woods, and encoutering the same events/obstacles. Great game but need to keep updating the content.Version: 1.0.4

Started interestingThe game started interesting, but quickly turned into repetitive tasks. One of my expeditions has been locked for over a week and there’s no way to remove it. New expeditions are stuck cycling between gathering wood and adventuring beyond the wall. When “new” expeditions do come up they are just recycled from earlier and I’m only in chapter 2. Happenings at castle black are few and far between. Watching the wall proses some interesting non-consequential choices but lacks variety and seems to repeat from only a dozen or so choices. The characters have surprisingly stark development often summarized in a single sentence during expeditions or events at castle black. The men at the nights watch are lazily classified as cunning, pious, learned etc, woth no other development than some keyword names that make you feel like you are fitting into the GOT world. Game had lots of potential but lacks direction to progress the story and makes you repeat tasks mindlessly to try to advance. The first chapter got me excited but not much else keeping me from uninstalling..Version: 1.0.4

The main story hasn’t progressed for three weeksNot sure if this is out of the ordinary but I’ve had nothing pertaining to the main story crop up since reaching “They who do not kneel”. Considering the previous chapters only had a couple of days of normal play between progression I would assume this needs a bit of work as I can’t progress - otherwise a solid game. P.S - A way to submit a ticket/ get in touch with you guys would be awesome, as far as I can see I would have to get in touch via Devolver Digital via a general enquiry email..Version: 1.0.6

Do you follow the narrative?I love the visual style of this game but the interface and control in annoying. The time and pacing also is not really compelling to play this long term. Waiting without notification is not something you can do because each step you take may be immediate or 5 minutes later. They should also add the number of men you actually have. As there is such urgency of running if men without really know how many you started with..Version: 1.0.0

Game breaking bugStarted strong. Quite slow paced, was was an ok way to pass the time even if each interaction was 30 mins apart. After the third chapter the ‘board’ flipped - now im locked on a screen with just a diamond symbol and a particle effect. Nothing to select. Only option is to reset my save as closing out the app does nothing. If someone can suggest a fix ill update my review..Version: 1.0.0

Options limited to quickStarted playing this game and thought I was on to a winner but it soon became the 2 options “clear woods” or “scout the area” tried sending different nobles on the quests and changing the response to the options but nothing changes.... I keep getting found extra food supplies do I keep it or let them feast.... now with knowing how much I have in storage it’s hard to know. This could be so much more but now I am probably giving up as I have no idea what the point is any more.Version: 1.0.2

A complete waste of a gameWhat a shame, the gameplay and story is strangely addictive and engaging, the artwork is sleek and endearing but the game itself is completely broken. I have tried to play 3 times, the 1st time I reached the 3rd LC before one of the expedition slots glitched and wouldn’t let me view any expedition logs for that character. The 2nd time a similar thing happened much sooner in the game when a character died while leading a party, the slot then became void again. I tried reinstalling for a last attempt, the map rotates when ‘the watch begins’ and just doesn’t do anything else! Riddled with bugs, avoid..Version: 1.0.4

UI is terribleThe UI and text size are awful the text is one of the main parts of the game but it takes as much space as the keyboard. it doesn't use that space and uses about half of that area using text smaller than the smallest an iPhone can go to in settings. The missions have requirements where certain characters with different attributes perform better. The problem these show up dark blue on a navy background, making the game unplayable on most phones keep in mind I'm using a 13 not a small beast. This game to me could be fun if they just put effort into their UI..Version: 3.0.0

Great idea, poor executionGame is a wonderful idea, and I did have fun with it, but it gets redundant and boring pretty quickly because of the execution..Version: 1.0.7

Alright for a bit but could be so much moreI wish the game involved more than sending ravens. It’s a shame because I love the art style but it’d be awesome to see even small battles from the same aerial view and there’s nothing like that. No adrenaline moment. No moment that feels as though it as huge consequence. Frequently you have only one option to select for the Raven or multiple options that give the same result..Version: 1.0.0

Great game with bugsPlayed through three times. Love it except 1 critical fatal flaw. Unfortunately one brother always never returns or sends back a crow (100% bug and makes the game not able to be finished. Close, but no cigar..Version: 1.0.4

Game HangingIt was really cool, but suffering from a game ending hang where the screen just displays the diamond of the rotated board and won’t let me do anything else.Version: 1.0.0

Bugs galore!!!Art style is cool and what drew me in but after a couple minutes I encountered my first bug (an expedition that never came back) that I tried to continue playing with until it stopped the story from progressing at which point I restarted the whole game to simply face another bug ( ‘the watch’ mode wouldn’t stop spinning around). PLEASE CHECK FOR THIS BEFORE YOU PUBLISH A GAME.Version: 1.0.4

Ultimately pointlessBeen playing this for 3 days now and although the concept is very interesting, that’s all it is. Every choice is pointless and does nothing to the story or your character. Just a shell of a game… don’t bother with this one.Version: 2.0.2

Good but could be moreI love the basic concept of this game, it give you control of the Nights Watch fighting the Others. it’s not flashy and is at its hart a text based game. I think it will appeal to fans for GOT, though I don’t think casual gamers will enjoy it as much. It follows a basic format of, you get a message, and then you have two or three options for a response. There are some interesting story threads to follow. I’ve played it for a couple of weeks My main criticism is that it is not clear that the decisions you make have any impact on the story, change the outcome, or have any consequences. It also gets quite repetitive, I’ve seen the same missions coming up several times..Version: 1.0.7

Game breaking bugI’ve really enjoyed my time with this game but I have encountered a bug where the map flips as to suggest a new era/season is starting but it just stays on a blank screen and nothing happens. Hope it gets fixed soon..Version: 1.0.0

Game FreezesMy Game load is now frozen on the loading screen and I can’t continue my story. This happened after my lord commander got a death threat and chose the option to have a man stand guard..Version: 1.0.0

Not accessibleThe font size is far too small to read and there are no options to enlarge it..Version: 3.0.0

So few choices, so much waitingThe “game” makes me sit and wait for responses, and often that’s during a conversation where I can only reply with one answer. What’s the point? (I’d be up for reading it through as a story, if they have the option to remove wait times)..Version: 1.0.7

GlitchOne of the missions says it’s done but still using up a slot..Version: 1.0.4

Gameplay loop isn’t fixedIt’s a real shame. I’ve been stuck in a continual loop for 4 weeks, despite the reported ‘fix’ in the last update. As a result, the game is repetitive and there are only two rangings ‘beyond the wall’: ‘scout beyond the wall’ and ‘clear the trees’. It has been the same for the entire 4 week period. I quite enjoyed the game up until this point..Version: 1.0.2

Was great but now constantly crashesUnfortunately this was, for me, a five star game, but now it constantly crashes as soon as the title screen pops up. If it can be fixed then consider this a 5 star review, until then :(.Version: 1.0.0

Lacking contentThis starts well, but after a few scenarios you realise there are only about four generic events that keep repeating when ranging beyond the wall, it’s incredibly rare that your characters traits make any difference at all and I seem to have now got stuck with no new story progression events ever arriving at the castle. Hopefully gets patched/new content soon as it was fun in the early stages..Version: 1.0.0

Repetitive, BoringThe first few days I had the game, I enjoyed it and thought that everyone was crazy for not liking it. After a week of playing I get it now. Your decisions are pointless, it doesn’t matter what you choose, it affects the story literally not at all. Long wait time between decisions that don’t matter. Most of the time the quests are exactly the same also. This game had good potential, but is ultimately extremely boring and repetitive..Version: 1.0.7

Why don’t they want me to play itI enjoy the parts that I get to play but what is the point of just having nothing going on in the game half the time. It literally tells me to come back later but...why can I not just skip to the next thing? Is it really so essential to the game that I wait 10 minutes for more text boxes.Version: 1.0.6

Cool attempt but total failI really enjoyed the layout and attempt at this game but it’s completely boring. There seems to be few consequences of any decisions and most of the choices at just click through. Was really excited to see something different and was totally let down. Uninstalling....Version: 1.0.7

Could have been 5 starsMy game has been stuck for a few days with no significant events occurring to further the storyline. Choices are nebulous and consequences to them are unclear. Otherwise, it’s a great game..Version: 1.0.3

Lacking but has potentialThe design is clean and I enjoy the gameplay itself, but it gets very repetitive while similar choices after a while. I think the storyline could be expanded to make this vastly more interesting..Version: 2.0

Time compressionInteresting way of storytelling ultimately let down by the “idle” style of gameplay having to wait minutes before the next opportunity for player interaction. Time compression would allow the player to enjoy the game as a narrative whole. At present, 2 days into playing, it is too slow, repetitive and time consuming to work through the story..Version: 1.0.5

Course of history section is brokenWhat’s the point in having the book that contains the course of history section. When it shows nothing. You try and click on what had happened previously and it states none found. Would be nice to go back and read it again..Version: 1.0.5

The font is too small!!!On iPhone.Version: 3.0.0

DullStarts with a good idea, but the pace is dreadfully slow. Essentially you check in every couple of hours to find out that nothing much has happened, and there’s still nothing much for you to do. Worse, the same messages and situations repeat themselves over and over. If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to be a totally bored lord commander of the night’s watch, this is the game for you. Awful..Version: 1.0.0

Was having fun until a bug hit meEasy to play idle game that is really fun but I’ve come across a bug where it shows there’s an expedition update but when I tap on it, it says there’s no new reports. No hope of fixing it so I suppose it’s there until I stop playing..Version: 1.0.4

HoriblieI don’t have much to say but I think this game is bad very very bad Pls answer and make it more fun.Version: 1.0.4

Constant crashingWas enjoying the laid-back approach of this game, though agree with others that there isn’t an easy feedback loop between how many resources you have/food on journeys/# of troops. They go up and down but not sure if it affects the game. Still was interested to see where it went though. My biggest issue though is that since I got about 1/2 way through the second chapter (when the heavy snow storm starts), the game is no longer loading. It crashes every time on the initial load of the kingdom view..Version: 1.0.0

Worse than season 8Even as an idler it’s got no point.Version: 1.0.0

So much potentialAgree with other reviews. There is so much potential. Possibly having ranking systems and promoting them based on amount of tasks perform. Maybe have wildlings attack and have to bring back people from patrol to defend. Just needs more..Version: 1.0.6

Great idea but......The concept of the game is great but really it doesn’t seem to progress.. at all. You have a feeling that whatever you do it doesn’t really make any difference to the game. I’d give it a better rating if you felt you were having some influence or even better something different happened rather than the same thing over and over..Version: 1.0.3

Cool idea but it doesn’t workBeautiful art, amazing music, cool concept but... You’re removed from the game too often. The devs are trying to create an experience for “responsible” gaming that isn’t addictive, but every time it cuts, your brain is removed from the experience of what you were playing. You only get to play for about a 70 seconds at a time, and then you have to wait for at least several minutes before you can do stuff again. It’s like reading a book but you can only read 6 sentences at a time. And then you’re forced to take a long break after those sentences. Why?? I love the idea of non-addictive games, but this ain’t it Deleted it after a couple hour.Version: 1.0.2

Cool Premise, Cool Game Design, Meh gameplay, and a bit of missed opportunityIt reminds me of Oregon Trail meeting GoT! The entire premise and game design are beautiful and quite different. The time frame and dialog are great. “Story” had potential as it gives “questions” or “scenarios” that you can answer by tapping pre-made responses, which can/cannot dictate an action that may impact how you manage The Nights Watch as Lord Commander. Seems interesting off the bat right?! Well your not wrong. Unfortunately, many of the questions/scenarios are repetitive. The game does not keep track of food, weapons, resources or men. It makes the decisions you choose weigh less “long term”. There is no visible building you can see or apply to the game. It’s simply questions and verbiage re-stated every day...this goes dry quick. I am a HUGE GoT fan, and I want to love this game...but it’s just missing that extra step to keep me involved. Missed opportunity, in my opinion. But could have been excellent. Can’t comment and support the gameplay/style and graphic design though. Way to go! Perhaps some updates could make the long term enjoy ability that much more. I’ve spent probably 2 days of decent gameplay and gotta day I’m unfortunately done with the game..Version: 1.0.0

Atmospheric, slow, choose your own adventure. It's really a text based story game not real time strategy. The preview images show a fort and wall, but in the game thoe aren't interactive. I thought it would be more like Bad North. Instead it is closer to the ios games Lifeline:Whiteout or Reigns. It's got limited scripted options, usually unclear choices, fairly long delays in between interactions. You send out teams and wait for them to complete their mission or contact you. It's a slow game you can check in and out of. The atmosphere is cool. It is an ok game just a little different from what I anticipated..Version: 1.0.0

Good idea, much potentialFor an idle, non-clicky game, I love it. Some lore, easy to pick up and put down. However, it doesnt feel like many decisions actually have consequences. Especially the scouting and wood cutting expiditions. A little more engagement would really make this top out..Version: 1.0.6

Is this even a game?Five minutes in and there’s nothing to do other than go back and forth between two screens. Haven’t seen a hint of actual gameplay..Version: 2.0

Seem to be stuckI’m receiving a raven from Winterfell about a thundering rumble but I get no actionable tasks. Looks like I’m at the same place in storyline for two days now..Version: 1.0.0

Lannister Rangers stuck on expeditionGame is broken and a waste of 4 days game play now. Disappointing considering how slow the game play is. The only exciting part of this game is the houses we are familiar with from the series..Version: 1.0.4

Sadly slow and dull…‘The North will wait,’ the game often says. So, it seems, must the player. Open app, click three or four times, then close the app because there’s nothing to do. Come back in an hour, and repeat. What a missed opportunity: way too slow to count as entertainment..Version: 1.0.3

Could be a good game...But, I would never know because almost impossible to read the texts..Version: 1.0.7

It looks pretty but it’s not goodDecision consequences aren’t clear, you do like three things and then have to wait 30 minutes to continue the story, you can’t bounce around realms without clearing your progress — I’ve never seen a game that wants you not to play so much..Version: 2.0

What is thisCan’t even read the text due to it being too small. Instant delete.Version: 1.0.5

Almost butI really enjoyed the game but after playing through two lord commanders it got boring. I enjoyed the stories but the game could be way better with asset management. Cutting down the trees should give you a wood supply and increase defense, a ranger being killed should reduce the population and increase fear, etc, etc..Version: 1.0.7

Lacking contentFun to begin with and beautiful design but quickly becomes rinse and repeat with really nothing to do and the same content being recycled over and over. Great concept that could be so much more if it was expanded on.Version: 1.0.3

Very boring one dimensionalThis game could be great, however it is so one dimensional in terms of repetition , nOthing new to see play for ten minutes and you have seen all its variation. Shame looks great nice idea just boring and lacking content.Version: 2.0

UnderwhelmingI’m just trying to get my GOT fix until winds of winter is released but this game isn’t doing it. Sure it’s kinda almost fun to be the lord commander but it’s just empty and nothing feels significant and your choices don’t really feel like they matter or have any impact on what happens. You have the same two quests basically constantly and then every now and then an interesting quest that it feels like you don’t even influence..Version: 1.0.7

Game glitched and frozeLoved it until after 2 days of playing it froze and I can’t continue on..Version: 1.0.4

Pretty boring after day 1So I get this is like a story about previous nights watch leaders and what they had to do, but I didn’t realize being the shields that guard the realms of men was so boring and repetitive. And that I get to do basically one game progressing thing every time I open the app only compounds this. The style is kinda cool, and I appreciate the effort, but oof. It’s just lacking. I don’t see a text size problem though, since everyone else wants to whine about that..Version: 1.0.5

Slow and repetitiveThere is not much to this game! Not much to do and not much of a story! I at least thought you could read about the other eras in The Course of History book. No matter what era you select to read about is always states “None Found”.Version: 1.0.6

Also stuck due to a game-breaking bugAs per the review by "The Monk One", I'm currently experiencing the same issue. I had just made a decision in the game which I thought might have fairly significant consequences, and then the screen zoomed out as if a new chapter was about to begin. But then the castle flipped upside down, showing only the blank underside of the tile it rests on. Anywhere I tap just results in a sound playing, and there are no icons or text options for me to select. Force quitting hasn't helped, rebooting hasn't helped, so short of resetting my save (which I'd rather not do on the offchance this bug is actually fixed and I can carry on with the story) the app will let me do nothing else. I'm on an iPad Pro 12.9" (4th generation) running iOS 13.6 at the time of writing..Version: 1.0.0

Needs a speed up optionI really like the game but it takes so long to get anywhere, it takes away from it. It would be great if it had an option to speed it up..Version: 1.0.0

BoringNot intuitive at all and boring. The preview looked cool. Couldn’t work anything out and lost interest. It’s a fail from me.Version: 1.0.4

Tiny textLove the concept of idle games, having sunk many, many hours into Runeblade for Apple Watch. Sadly this is a non-starter. On an iPad Air the text is so small as to be virtually invisible. My eyesight isn’t perfect, but even with my glasses it’s a real struggle. This can no doubt be tweaked, but that still leaves the game-play. I’ve never watched GOT so thought this may be a nice introduction. Problem is, after trying it out for half an hour or so, I’ve still no real idea what I’m meant to be doing. No instructions. Overall a frustrating and disappointing experience. I’d revisit it when these issues are sorted. Until then it’s a thumbs down..Version: 1.0.0

UnplayableThis is a choose your own adventure, but without any clear feedback for your choces, and the entire mechanic is that you do not play the game. You're supposed to spend time waiting around, so after a handful of actions, you are overtly told to go away and given no further options for play. It is NOT compatable with iPads, especially larger models, because the text is completely illegible. I measured it on an iPad pro — most of the text is one (1) millimeter high. The graphics are cute and it seems like there might be a good story in there somewhere (based on what little I could read through a magnifying glass). But this is simply not a playable game..Version: 1.0.6

Annoyed. Can’t even get the app to open.Version: 1.0.0

Nice graphics, but...What even is this game? A pay-to-play that you don’t need to pay to play... but can only play for one minute before having to wait for the ravens to fly? We make choices, but don’t see what those choices do. I’m desperately trying to give it a chance but I just don’t get it....Version: 1.0.0

Only way to get supportI hate making a request of support here, but the website have too much info. I’m stuck on the story, I cannot tap on the next task in the castle. The north work normally.Version: 1.0.3

MehDoesn’t seem to be any real strategy. Or story. You just click chat bubbles that don’t really seem to have any consequence one way or another. Even the story that it somewhat portrays in each encounter is basic and repetitive. About to be on my 3rd watch commander and I’ve literally done nothing. Brothers go out. Brothers come back. Ravens fly in. Ravens fly out. Over and over and over and over and...oh and pointless waiting. What’s up with that? There’s no action. It’s all “story” albeit weak at that. So how do you take a game that’s already boring and make it worse? Make the player have to wait 20-30 minutes between “actions”. lol so much potential here. All of it wasted..Version: 1.0.6

Stuck- game crashesBeen playing for a two weeks and was getting to the final chapters but every time I load the game it crashes.. uninstalling and reloading hasn’t fixed anything! I want to know how it ends!!! Help!.Version: 1.0.0

Barely a gamePerhaps if you’re still very into GoT and like the extra bits of history and lore there is very little to recommend this...game? Incredibly long waits between the very slight choices you can make with no way to either speed up the clock or even find how long there is between the next progression. Decisions are limited to 1 or 2 options usually with absolutely no agency other than watching a dot slowly, slowly make its way across a map. Wait 5 minutes, press a button... rinse, step, repeat..Version: 1.0.5

Run out of choices very quickEnjoyable as a idle check in, however you eventually end up with two options “clear woods” and “scout the north” these are my only expeditions for the last day or so, which is pretty jarring as I’m now hoping a raven or random event occurs for something to be entertaining. Additionally; the amount of times I’ve heard “boulders have blocked our route” is quite disappointing, as one path causes one death whilst another is safe - so no surprises there. Fixes would be- - More expeditions - More random events.Version: 1.0.0

Good concept, poor executionI like the game style, and that we have to choose our path. Unfortunately script writers were rather lazy due to a fact that player will experience same troubles of Night watch all the time. We don’t know also if any decision we make has good or bad consequence. It is quite addicting and I hope we will see some improvements in a future updates..Version: 1.0.0

Want to give more starsPros: - Love the concept - Nice dip in dip out game - Liking the text based gameplay, makes a nice change - Beautiful artwork Cons: - Some messages seem very random, for example two options are “a phantom odour” or “a growing corruption”, what on earth does that mean, and what does selecting one over the other do, if anything? - Not clear what consequences (if any) your actions have - The decisions you do make seem inconsequential to the overall story - It’s not clear if choosing a particular leader makes any difference to an expedition - Like others have said, men and rations seem important, but there isn’t anyway to track this. - Choices repeat themselves Summary: This game could be amazing, the concept is there, but at the moment it just feels like an interactive story that I am following with the illusion of choice, rather than a game. Changes need to be made so that it feel like what I am doing makes an impact to the nights watch and story. Would give 5 stars if these things were implemented..Version: 1.0.0

Beautifully made but slowBeautifully made but slow. Decisions overlap and repetitious gameplay gives a feeling of no control over what is happening. Overtime, it becomes boring as you are told to come back to the game, but most of the game repeats itself constantly, and the story line has no clear central path..Version: 2.0.1

Bo-ringGreat concept but gets tired very quickly: same narratives, can’t see the impact of decisions... Not even sure of the purpose and/or how to “unlock” more stories. Unfortunately becomes boring in the blink of an eye..Version: 1.0.0

Needs additional contentThis is visually stunning game, easy to play and with an interesting concept. But it could be so so much more. The story is quite thin, the gameplay is a bit repetitive, the choices you make rarely ever matter. Yes, it’s an idle game, but it needs a solid expansion of the story and the consequences system to be fully enjoyed. There is rarely any risk, barely any reward and the stakes feel real low even when facing white walkers. This game needs more meat, even if it’s the idle type..Version: 1.0.5

Small Text iPhone 12 ProThe text on the iPhone 12 pro is a little too small to be comfortable. I’d like the option to increase the text size and make this game more playable. However, overall, I’m quite enjoying this foray north beyond the wall and some of the strange creatures and tribes that inhabit the bleak snowy landscapes. Also slightly disappointing that when you have a female Commander of the watch the narrative always refers to ‘he’. I mean, this is 2020 isn’t it?.Version: 1.0.3

Could be good or bad. I can’t read the textOn my iPad 12.1 inch the text is in a tiny box. Can you make is a size that can be read ?.Version: 1.0.6

Great game but...I finished it too quickly lol. Twice. I know it’s different every time, but having the game longer would be great..Version: 1.0.4

BrokenSomewhere in here there is a compelling GoT narrative game. But it’s lost behind unreliable progression, repeated missions, tiny text and inconsistent notifications. The app doesn’t even leave notifications if it gets fully closed! A half-baked port..Version: 1.0.4

Doesn't go anywhereThe game starts of promising with a fairly interesting introduction and story. I definitely wasn't expecting an action game, but several days in to playing, I have realised there is actually no substance at all to your choices. The whole thing is a waste of time. The game goes round and round and round in circles and you have no opportunity to really make any difference or take the initiative. You get fed the same scenarios over and over again, finding yourself experimenting with different options to try and get some sort of outcome that furthers the narrative. More often than not, the options or decisions you are fed either have no bearing on the story, or are so similar that you can tell of they have affected your story path at all. This game is a complete waste of time. Don't download, and don't bother. Go learn a new skill or read a book instead..Version: 1.0.3

Intriguing but annoyingI’m intrigued by the story line, but the sitting around and waiting for 5 minutes —and then only providing 30 seconds of gameplay before having to wait again—is a lot of what I hate about the pay-to-play games..Version: 1.0.0

Does what it says on the tinFrom the App Store the game makes you very aware that this is an idle game and it delivers with you not having to do anything for except send three ravens and answer a question every hour. The story starts off well but quickly stagnates and moves much slower, wether this is to stretch out game time or it’s part of the creative vision, I don’t know, but the game itself still manages to not bore me. Regardless of the fact that there are only a few different random events that your rangers can encounter while exploring I think the developers need to do a check up on the lore of the world and tweak some of the letters however as I recently received a letter from kings landing... 8000 years before kings landing was built. Overall the game is average and due to its idle nature it becomes a filler to breakup monotonous activities throughout your day such as work and unfortunately nothing more, which is a shame considering the story rich world it is based on in which you could get lost for hours. However if you’re looking for something to do in between your Netflix binge then it may be worth giving A Tale Of Crows a shot..Version: 1.0.0

Potential. But painfully boring.Your narrative selections appear to make little to no difference. The storylines for minor quests often repeat themselves. And what other games tell you to “come back later, there’s nothing to do at the moment”? It’s bad but the general design concept makes it worth fixing (barely)..Version: 1.0.7

Crashing constantlyThis game just keeps crashing. when it does work the load screen every time i return to the game gets annoying too..Version: 1.0.0

Slow & BoringThe game makes you wait something like 5-10 minutes between every decision, of which there’s only 4 types which don’t seem to have any real consequence on the storyline of the game. It looks pretty but what a waste of time building this game, not to mention playing it..Version: 3.0.0

Beautiful but goes nowhereAs an idle fancy it is a beautifully art directed concept, and I did enjoy the process of going through the motions...which is effectively what the gameplay amounts to. It frequently felt like a slog, and to be honest there is absolutely no pay off for completing a run through, but then it immediately prompts you to do it all over again! Keen to see more from the developers but I wouldn’t recommend grinding on this one..Version: 1.0.7

Why?Amusing at first when you think something might happen. And it doesn’t. Then it just endlessly repeats itself over and over again. It’s really just a looping waste of time..Version: 1.0.7

Not a “game”This is not a game, but an interactive story in which every so often, you have to make a decision with no real consequence on anything. I have yet to figure out a way to lose as things always work out regardless of decisions. The game runs behind the scenes, piling up decisions for you to respond to, but this is a double edged sword as you oftentimes run the game, make one single meaningless decision and then it tells you to come back later. So you then decide to play something else, instead. Where is fun in that? I still give it three stars for nice presentation and writing, but then you can just read a nicely illustrated book instead - whenever you want to..Version: 1.0.7

Cool but RepetitiveOverall, decent game but more of an interactive story, you don’t really get to alter the outcome of things drastically often. You get the same quests quite consistently to point where you already know the perfect choice. In brief it’s just really repetitive, was expecting something much better considering its “GOT”....Version: 1.0.7

DisappointedI was excited to find this game, but found that I cannot play it because the text is smaller than I am able to read, and despite lots of space on the screen, there is no way to enlarge it. That is pretty thoughtless of the game's designers, methinks, since I'm pretty sure that I'm not alone stumbling on the tiny text!.Version: 1.0.0

It’s a game?I wanted it to play like the game lifeline or something similar. This game does to an extent but, as others have said there’s not much impact or sway with anything you choose. For a while my game would say the men forget their oaths or , our ranks grow thin. It never tells you why, or how , or even hint at what your decision does or will do. I went from choosing wisely ( I thought ) to just picking the worst choice and hoping it would do something noticeable. At this point I just want a game over screen or something to tell me I’ve been going towards something... winning ? Losing? Anything ? Is this a game or just a kind of story dragged out with wait timers. What ever I’m gonna go eat my food now I have the munchies. 10x better than this game hands down..Version: 1.0.7

Good game but still a beta.....There is an annoying trend with Apple Arcade games to get them released before knocking off the rough edges. This game is interesting and has some visual appeal. It should have gotten a 4 or 5 but gets demoted to a 3 for lacking the simple option to increase text size. It’s a text based game god’s sake! It’s like the size was set for young eyes first thing in the morning. What about older eyes who’ve spent a day in front of a computer and want to relax with a game after work? It won’t be this one..Version: 1.0.0

Slow and repetitiveI love the idea of this game. I only started playing a week ago, and am starting to get frustrated by the constant repetition of captions. In the morning, it’s exciting to think “what happened to my scouts overnight” only to see the dialogue match exactly what I responded to the night before..Version: 1.0.4

Pace too slowI get the appeal of games where you have to wait for events to happen, but the pace of this game is far too slow. I come back to the game after a while, I check maybe 4 or 5 messages, and then I leave the game again. I can only send out three ranging parties at a time even though I have a bunch of named Brothers back in the castle and the Ranging Purposes are stacking up..Version: 1.0.3
