Good but needs a few tweaksThe video demos are very helpful but it would be good if you could track the weights you’re using and have a suggestion of a beginner/intermediate/ advanced weight. Also with tracking my personal weight in kgs there is no option for putting the grams, there is only whole numbers. Also having a warm down sequence with stretches for the specific muscle groups you’re using would be helpful.Version: 1.0.4

Apple watch connection isn’t greatThe workouts are good and the app looks very aesthetic but it doesn’t sync with the Apple Watch very well. It’d also be great if your workout didn’t end midway through if you accidentally close the app on your phone..Version: 1.12.2

Don’t sign up for the free trial unless you plan on buyingCompletely forgot I signed up for the free trial, which yes is on me. I didn’t even use the app because I’ve used it before and the workouts got repetitive that time and I only used the free trial to see if they had changed the workouts. Workouts were basically the same so I never opened it again, forgetting I had even signed up. Got charged the $25 and immediately messaged support to see if I could get a refund since it literally had been minutes and I already cancelled it. I got the response “Unfortunately Alive does not have the ability to offer refunds at this time”. Just be aware when you’re signing up for the app, most places have that grace period, not this one..Version: 1.6.13

Really poor customer serviceI cancelled my subscription through apple, who confirmed that the subscription had ended. I then got charged by Alive and when contacted they refused to refund me or listen to what I had to say. As for the app itself, it is very clunky and basic. In my view there are much better apps out there for a better price. Try EvolveYou or beyond..Version: 1.7.5

Doesn’t even workI don’t know if this is just a thing because I’m in Australia. But when I tried creating an account for the first time using my phone number it would always say that the code I received was invalid even though it was the exact code I was sent. Love the workouts .. need more educationI love the workouts! I just wish there was more instructional advice! Eg. if you’re not feeling an exercise where you’re meant to, how to correct it, why is my back hurting when I do such and a such, what exercises are best for your goals, food advice etc. it would just make the app more of a one stop shop and I wouldn’t have to seek out other apps or go on socials etc to try and educate myself, which quite frankly is a nightmare because there’s so much different advice!.Version: 1.11.0

Not worth the moneyLet me start by saying I LOVE Whitney, so this isn’t anything against her at all. I really wanted to support her but at the moment, it’s just so overpriced. The app is simply too expensive for what it is - the Tammy Fit app is £13 per month but has a lot more content (water tracker, meal plans, macro counter etc) whereas this is just a few workout plans and then some additional extra workouts. While the workouts are good, the home guide is mainly cardio so isn’t for me personally. The videos also didn’t load very quickly and as they’re all circuit based, this meant that you’d end up losing seconds or have to restart just to know what you’re doing. I think the strength days could have done with being rep based rather than circuits too. The videos are very well shot, clear and professional, plus the app is very well designed. If the app was £9, I would have rated it higher, but it really isn’t worth the money at the moment 😓.Version: 1.0.16

Nothing for freeThat’s pretty upsetting that nothing on this app is accessible for free. Everything you touch makes a pop up to make you switch to preminium. I already pay 20$/month for my gym… They should make this app more $$ accessible.Version: 1.9.0

BEWAREI am actually sad to write this because I have been an OG fan of Whit and this app. I was fraudulently charged by the company and they refuse to refund me or even respond to me. I’ve sent countless emails and help forum submissions with them ignoring the majority of them or them lying and saying it’s apples fault. Well I called Apple and they informed me that was completely false and recommended I contact the company back and provide them with apples number so they could set it straight, but no worry they won’t contact me back. Attempts to post on the Facebook simply asking for help not even being rude were denied for posting and comments were ignored by admins … but other members commented and shared the same story as mine. I now have to go through a lengthy credit card dispute and completely get a new card thanks to this app. Update: after months I was finally responded to with an apology for my experience requesting that I reach out to support. As stated in my review I tried multiple times and still had to rely on my bank to fight this. Clearly they didn’t care enough to read my review or attempt to fix the wrong as evidenced by a general automated “I’m sorry reach out to support” response..Version: 1.7.4

Good app butI really like this app but sometimes the app closes on my Apple Watch randomly and stops tracking my workout. It’s so annoying because it won’t count any of my calories burnt, exercise minutes or the actual workout. If this could be fixed I would rate this 5/5 stars.Version: 1.6.42

Everything is on premiumI’m sure if I could afford the monthly fee it would be better but it’s kinda disappointing that there’s little nothing you can do on it without getting premium. Love the workouts but agree with others on changes!I’ve always bought workout routines because I get lost in the gym, or will become too repetitive, and/or not know what muscle groups to focus on. I love how every plan is widely different so when I get bored of one I can swap to another. It’s a little pricey, I wish I could just pay for the year subscription but it’s too expensive for a college student. I also wish there were a couple changes to the usability! The breaks are just too long for me, 120 seconds in between sets are ridiculous, and there’s no way to change it. I understand some people need this but I have to keep touching my phone to skip the breaks. I agreed with others when they say there should be verbal cues, or notes on the exercises bc I also watch and rewatch the videos to see if I’m doing exercises right. A BIG change needs to have the notes about the sets in the big workout screen! I didn’t know that we’re drop setting dumbell lateral raises because I can only see it in the overview! I’m also combining Alive 2.0 and Alive inside 2.0 by replacing the full body with HIIT and abs, bc it needs more cardio. Overall big fan of the app! Just needs some small changes!.Version: 1.6.14

No results, disappointedI’ve been watching Whitney for years and decided to give her plan a go after years of using the Swear app. After a Sweat app workout I would really feel the burn and like I had pushed myself. I would also feel sore the next day and noticed results when I was consistent. I was more consistent then I have ever been using Alive and barely felt any next day soreness and hardly broke a sweat in my workouts… after five weeks and zero results, I’m switching back to tried and true Sweat. Alive doesn’t offer any cardio or ab workouts in any of the programs. You can tell it’s not created by a personal trainer..Version: 1.6.17

Great workouts, but app on the phone and watch both need workI have been following Whitney for years and really like her content and workouts! The app has great programs and it’s great to just follow a step by step workout and not have to think while I’m in the gym.I do have a few suggestions though.. 1. When you’re in the middle of one workout, you can’t go back and look at others to compare weights. For example, if you lifted RDLs yesterday and today are doing sumo DLs for the first time in the app, you can’t go back to yesterday’s workout to see what you lifted in RDLs to gauge what you might want to try in sumos. 2. I know the Apple Watch app is new but it is giving me SO much trouble. I’ve been using it daily since it launched a week ago and I have not had a single day of seamless syncing. Even though my health app on my phone allows Alive to receive all data from my watch and fitness apps and vice versa, it will not sync. For a couple days I was just turning on both Alive and recording a workout like normal on the watch, but today I tried just logging it through Alive to see if it would show up in my rings and nope. Alive app says I have 57 mins but it only recorded 7 seconds in my fitness app even though I was using the watch app the entire workout. Overall, I like the workouts and content but the experience could be vastly improvements with some minor tweaks and corrections so it syncs well!.Version: 1.6.8

3/5 stars for this appI do really like this app, there are a couple glitches that I think would make the experience better if they were fixed. For the price I think that some snack and meal ideas as well as a food tracker should be incorporated in this app.. as well as more explanation for the reps and sets.Version: 1.11.0

Good App but didn’t work for meOverall I like this app and the exercises. I’ve only done the alive inside ones and they were good, but there are just a couple of things that bothered me. The time listed under the workouts aren’t completely accurate because they don’t include the warm up and cool down, which I always do. This makes it hard to plan the appropriate amount of time to work out. It’ll be like 20 min longer. And some of the workouts are pretty long, which some people might like, but I didn’t because having to gear up for a 1.5 workout take more motivation and time. I just think I would find myself actually doing it more if it were shorter. Also, there isn’t enough time between some workouts to switch between proper equipment and position. I am glad they finally got the apple watch app, although it’s glitchy. All together, I used it for a few months but this will be my last..Version: 1.6.12

Great App but improvements neededI love this app. It gets me moving, and helps me feel a thousand times less awkward at the gym because I walk in with my ALIVE plan. BUT there are some additions I would love to see: - The ability to look at alternate movements before starting the workout/being able to log weight for the alternate movements. And actually being able to select that movement vs. just viewing it during the workout. -The ability to log cardio and that being added to your overall journey stats. A year to year highlights would be cool. UPDATE: -Improvement in customer service needed. People are nice enough I guess, but terrible service. Slow to respond and noted that an issue was resolved when it wasn’t. Also, if you need help over a weekend, you’re out of luck which is a huge bummer since customer service is not available. Would maybe be bearable if response time during the week was faster, and if issues were being resolved. After reading other reviews, I’m going to switch to a different fitness app when my subscription expires despite overall enjoying it. I started using this app because I am an OG fan of Whitney, but there are other good fitness apps with good customer service. Not GreatWas encouraged to download, once downloaded I was not able to preview the exercises or had any feel of what the app had to offer unless paying the full subscription of either £15 a month to £116 a YEAR! For an app that has hardly ANY press or recommendations- deleted !.Version: 1.5.5

Not worth itThere are too many glitches for me to commit to purchasing this app. If you use your Apple Watch for fitness RUN! I’ve had to uninstall and reinstall this app twice already and I’ve only used the app for 5 days… nothing was even tracked properly in my fitness app the first day. I don’t think the workouts are revolutionary or even put together well enough. There is a glitch every time it goes through the warm up and cool down showing me 1/X exercises have been complete. Good app but injured myselfStarted the app recently and love the weights aspect and the helpful videos. Unfortunately I injured my abdomen during one of the cool down stretches… I’ve never seen that particular stretch before and felt a painful pinch coming out of the deep lunge twist. Good enough, but missing a lotI tried this app for a few weeks and while I did appreciate the fact that there are different programs you could choose from, and the exercises were able to be modified, I feel it’s severely lacking direction when it comes to beginners lifting weights. There’s no mention of RPE or RIR or any terms that people might use to describe how hard each movement should be. I think this app is great for people who are intimidated and want to get into working out, but if you want serious muscle growth I don’t think this is right for you. Also, it makes me a little skeptical to see an app made by someone with seemingly no health science or even personal training certifications. It’s cool if certain things helped Whitney grow, but when using this you don’t know if it’s coming from someone with extensive knowledge of muscle growth or just a famous influencer. NOTHING against her at all, I love her videos, I just would like to see some more qualifications before I pay for an app like this..Version: 1.12.5

Laggy appI really like the variety of workouts and different challenges to set yourself. However, the app really struggles to load the small video of Whitney doing the excersizes and it makes it really tough to keep up with..Version: 1.5.0

Terrible customer serviceI love Whitney and was so excited about this app but have had consistent issues with it that haven’t been resolved well by the support team. The forgot password functionality doesn’t work in the app, and it takes the support team 2-4 days to reset it. I also subscribed and then got an error message saying that I wasn’t able to use the app, and again the support team was really unhelpful. I had to go directly to Apple who told me the only option was to refund my purchase and contact the developers (which I did). I’m really disappointed in all the issues I’ve had with this as I wanted to like it so badly!.Version: 1.6.14

Disappointed…no refunds available…So disappointed as there was firstly, no offline mode or way to download the exercises. Because of this, I was unable to use it as I did not have access to wifi or data as I worked and lived on a cruise ship so was unable to use it. Upon contacting the team they said they could not refund this, then just received another yearly charge one year later (which I was unaware of) and they again, will not refund. I love the app but they took my money!I loved using the app. I had used it for the trial period. When it came time to pay my bank account got charged twice. I thought I had the situation figured out but the next day my subscription was canceled (as if I didn’t pay twice already now). Because I didn’t “have” the subscription through the app I re-put in my card information 3 different times and each time through the app it showed that my card got declined. But I got another charge on my account. That was 3 times now that I got charged for the subscription. (And as a college student… this kinda added up) I tried to reach out to the support team at a very reasonable hour of the day ( enough time for anyone to respond to the message if their team was looking) and now I am down a large amount of money and have to wait til after the weekend to get any sort of response. I loved the app and would still like to use it but it is hard to imagine that yesterday I could get the support team to be messaging me at the latest time into the night but they can’t even look at a message sent at a regular time during the day..Version: 1.10.4

Really great app, connection with apple health doesn’t workThis is a really great app, I love that there is alternatives for those who are working out without machines. Definitely worth the money. Good idea but execution isn’t greatLove love this app so many good features like weight tracking and progress photos but too many bugs. It’s started to stop my music when I use it, the Apple Watch compatibility doesn’t accurately track calories burnt, the diary function is really glitchy and to be honest the program got a bit repetitive and i injured myself as there was a lateral arm series that had 85 reps with decreasing weights. That’s way too many reps. Anyway I only had it for a month..Version: 1.6.35

SketchyI’ve been trying to cancel my subscription for days now and still nothing will load. The app won’t allow me to log in to my account to manage my subscription, it won’t let me delete my account because my account isn’t “authenticated” which is also because the website won’t let me verify my email. It’s been 23 hours since I messaged support and still no one has responded to me. I hope none of this is intentional because I’ve always been a huge fan of Whitney Simmons. There could be more guidanceI really like the workouts, but I think there are some easy ways to improve the usability of the app. One being that there is no guidance other than the videos, and sometimes there are hard to see details on the exercises and the form. And there are somethings that are important to help prevent injury (Ie should my feet be flexed? Should I engage my core?) I’ve never seen some of these exercises before and have had to google them to make sure I’m doing it right after experiencing pain in my knees and lower back, and I wasn’t. It would also be really helpful, especially on the cardio workouts and the timed sets, if there was 3-5 seconds to transition to the next exercise and see what the next exercise it. When I’m supposed to go from a 30 second plank to a weighted squat, I lose 5 or more seconds of work checking which exercise is coming, getting up, grabbing my weights and setting into the exercise. Even just a verbal que of “prison squats, 30 seconds” would help transition faster. As much as I want to memorize the sets, I forget the order of things some verbal questions would be helpful for the days you need to keep moving and keep your heart rate up. I really like the work outs my arms are still dead 2 days later, I just think for the monthly price, these are features a lot of other apps have that would really improve the usability..Version: 1.4.5

Unfortunately disappointedExcited the app was finally available I tried for a week to make a premium purchase. Everytime it failed (on the apps end) so i wasn’t able to get the trail or access the apps content. It won’t let me access the content because the “get premium” thing keeps popping up. So I try restoring and it says yep you’ve already purchased this but it won’t let me access anything. But somehow it’s in my purchase history on my App Store. I know apps can have bugs but I’m disappointed that so long after the release date I’m still unable to use it. Lock screen option please!I love this app and all but i really wish there was an option to have your phone locked but still progress through your workout. similar to the way our music apps let you go back, next, pause, skip through etc. i hate leaving my phone unlocked at the gym and i also hate having to constantly unlock it just to make sure im doing the workout correctly, adjust my rest time, all that fun stuff. please look into implementing a way for us to progress our workouts from the lock screen! then it would definitely be a 5* app.Version: 1.12.5
