App is useless!With competitors like ‘’ and ‘🤖’ it’s a necessity to be able to customise your wireless earphones to your liking but because of the lack of attention being made to improve the app it leaves people like myself sat just waiting. I used to be able to get into the app and change the gestures on each one - now nothing. I even noticed a ‘find my earphones’ ability that managed to glitch its way onto the home screen and then disappearing whilst I tried again and again to connect my earphones to the app. Please get it sorted. Defective Right off the Hop...Just got my new set of earbuds and they connected beautifully through manual set up. Downloaded the app, it requested updates so got that done. And it just won’t connect through the app. I can’t access any functions until it connects with the app and it keeps saying “No Headset Available”. I’ve deleted the app twice & reinstalled, disconnected the earbuds from my phone and even removed them from the devices list. Updating is garbageI have had LG tones for years! I’ve had these tones for over a year now and I enjoy them and use them more than my AirPods. Sound quality, noise canceling, and comfort is way better than my AirPods. However… it is absolute GARBAGE to try and update them. The app ABSOLUTELY must stay active! Heaven forbid you actually need to use the phone in the 2.5 HOURS it took to even get 20% done with the download. I’ve just resigned myself that I will not be able to update my tones and that this will likely be my last LG product..Version: 1.4.10

Cant get past the Main ScreenI can connect my FN7 buds, but as soon as this happens, the request for location usage permission comes on. It flickers and crashes without enough time to respond. Too many bugsI have the tone 9 which are amazing. But it is so difficult to use them to their full capabilities because the app crashes. Terrible App for amazing buds!After researching like mad I eventually purchased the FP9 buds! These things are so comfortable and straight out the charging case they sound amazing! Then comes the app! When I open the app it finds the FP9’s immediately. I can’t however do anything in the app. When I try to change from bass boost to immersive etc. I get a spinning wheel and then nothing. If I click on update I get a never ending search for an update. The app needs fixing desperately in order for users to gain the full use of the buds! Pretty average for such a “quality” company!.Version: 1.4.16

Unable to update the earbudsSadly the app is almost useless on iOS. The software update to update my LG Tone Free UFP8s doesn’t work as the circle just spins and never informs me I have an update. I had to connect them to a different device not running iOS to update them. Additionally you cannot change the ANC settings in the app so the app is a glorified equaliser that takes ages to change any setting..Version: 1.3.02

I should have listened to narmour30Everything he said is completely 100% accurate. The app worked once for me and ever since, the only thing it says is “No headset available. Please confirm” It does nothing else and LG basically told me “have you tried turning it off and back on?” which is about as useful as a fart-scented candle. And the one time it did work, it only had one function which was “find my ear buds” and the one time I used it (you can’t ever use it if there is “no headset available”), it told me my ear buds were 30 miles down the road when they were next to me. It works IF you follow the directionsThis app will only work if you have both earbuds in the case and the case paired to your phone. You have to do this every time you want to make adjustments using the app. With that said, I can’t understand why LG would do this. You can’t make any adjustments while wearing the earbuds. Not sure if this is a technology limitation or just poor design. Either way, it would be much more functional if we could use the app while wearing the earbuds. Anywho, the app does work, you just have to follow LGs stupid directions..Version: 1.4.04

Almost useless app!What exactly is the app for??? Can’t change settings (well 1 time out ten perhaps), can’t see what charge is, only thing it does is show when connected - but see that in blue tooth settings! Connecting requires you to internet search fact that HAVE TO name the connection precisely (LG-TONE-FP9_LE), that shows up two connections (two ear pieces? or ear piece & dock???). Only useful part of app is access to manual. It’s such a huge pity that my experience of these excellent ear buds have been hugely soured by this useless app 🤬🤬🤬.Version: 1.4.24

Can’t choose original effects using touchpadIf you go into noise cancellation mode you have to take your phone out to change it back to no effects, terrible design for battery life. If you’re using pc you’re out of luck you have to disconnect, pull out your phone go through maybe 5-10 secs of waiting for the app to work. Then you can finally reconnect just to press the touch pad and have to restart those steps for the 500th time since you bought them. I like them they’re comfy mid price decent battery life and effects but not having multi device connection or a windows app really hampers it for me. I don’t know if u guys respond but i would really appreciate it if there’s any info on why it’s only anc and transparent mode..Version: 1.3.02

Don’t change the name of your earbuds!If you change the name of your earbuds in your Bluetooth settings from the factory settings (LG HBS-FN6 for mine) then the app will no longer be able to find and connect to your earbuds and becomes useless. I spent ages troubleshooting the fact that the app wouldn’t recognise that the earbuds where connected to my phone (uninstalling and reinstalling the app multiple times). However as soon as I changed the name back to the factory settings in my iPhone Bluetooth menu the app immediately found the earbuds and became usable..Version: 1.4.16

I physically can't evenThis little bugger likes to farm harvest and spread my information and whereabouts around. The only way to connect is by doing what it clearly & explicitly states not to connect to. Also has a tendency to render my iphone nonfunctional with bluetooth on. My question is they clearly know what they are doing, why are we the ones paying? Someone needs to pay me to have this crapp seriously. And fix it. Clearly a lot of people thought better about LG. Once you’re paired leave the earbuds in the case with the lid open and open app. Then it’ll give the 2-3 pop up windows and it’ll work. Again. LG must not be reading these reviewsJust received my LG TONE Free earbuds with my new OLED TV. These connect fine through the settings and Bluetooth on my iPhone but when I launch the app it just says no headset is available. I uninstalled and reinstalled three times and the same thing happens. Looking at these past reviews looks like 99% of the people have the same problem. Maybe LG needs to take note of the dissatisfied users and fix their app so it actually works before releasing it to the public, but I would definitely not buy one of these earbuds that are $180 with an app that does not even work so it’s a good thing they were free with the TV. Don’t bother downloading the app as it doesn’t work just use them normally through your Bluetooth settings on your phone. Sure you won’t get the features of the app until LG actually puts some effort into their app. Why they charge this amount for earbuds is mind blowing maybe they need to spend that money on the app development, but like I said good thing they came free with my TV as if I had purchased them I’d be completely irate as once they are taken out of the box they can’t be returned so then I would’ve wasted all that money..Version: 1.3.02

THE EARPHONES STOPPED WORKING AFTER 4 DAYSDon’t waste your time even buying the earphones! They stopped working after the first 4 days of using them. For those that get “No headphones connected”I was having the problem where the app would indicate that there were no headphones connected, even when they were connected. I just took the time to read all of the troubleshooting steps, and found: “If you have changed the name the of earbuds in Settings > Bluetooth, change the name to the initial name and connect again. (The initial name can be found in Manual > Connecting.)” I had changed the name, but I don’t have the manual at hand, and I don’t remember the original name, but the app only shows the manual when the device is detected by the app. I found that if I deleted the custom name the original name was replaced where it should be and now the app detects my earbuds again. I’m only giving the app three stars because really LG you should let your customers remade their earbuds however they want like all of your competitors do. Also please give us a list of manuals so we can reference our devices manual wherever we want, regardless of connection status..Version: 1.6.08

This app is a wreck going nowhere!I haven't had my earbuds (LG Tone Free FP8) for a week, the key selling point was to be able to produce a sound system similar to what's at the home base. The Tone Free app worked once, it was the first time I paired Bluetooth. Since then it doesn't recognize that the earbuds are linked, it continues to inquire to link my device. I can't modify or actually listen to the premium Meridian sound system or change any setting. I have disconnected Bluetooth pairing, turn my phone on/off, removed the app, and reloaded the app. At the cost of these earbuds, I could have spent less and picked up an Apple product. Garbage on an iPhone 14 pro maxThe app doesn’t even load the second time you open it up. And the one time I got it to actually open and connect to the earbuds I couldn’t change a thing. It worked ok-ish on my iPhone 12 pro max. Opening and closing the app would fix any issues. Or reconnecting helped. But with an iPhone 14 it’s just trash. I reinstalled it 3-4 times to see if that would fix the issue but it hasn’t. The earbuds connect and work. It’s just the app that doesn’t work. So if I wanted to change the button functions or switch to different listening modes I can’t. Complete waste of time. Good idea but very buggyUpdate: Make sure your earbuds aren’t connected to any other devices. I figured out turning Bluetooth off on my iPad did the trick. When my earbuds disconnect from my iPad and connect to my phone, my iPad automatically connected to LG-TONE-FP8_LE instead of LG-TONE-FP8. I saw a note about not connecting to the first one in my instruction manual. Disconnecting from both on my iPad fixed my issue and the app works on my phone now. But it would be nice if this conflict was made more obvious or if it could be fixed by the developers. Original review: I have tried a couple of the suggested fixes in the reviews for my phone and I still get the “no headset available” error. It would be great if the developers could look into this because it seems like a lot of people are having the same problem. I love the idea of this app, and when it works, it works well. The app worked on my phone the first time I used it but not at all since. It’s impossible to connect. But it seems to work perfectly on my iPad. Find my earbuds feature uselessI like the earbuds and I can actually use the features in the app however it’s annoying that the app only connects when the case is open, which actually makes the “find my earbuds” feature useless. If you need to find your ear buds for if the case is closed the app won’t connect to play the sound to find the earbuds, also if your earbuds are out of the case and you need to find them again you cannot use the feature as the earbuds need to be in the case with the case open to actually be able to use the find my earbuds. Finally got connectedI was having a lot of similar issues to other users…the app would recognize that there were headphones connected to my phone but that was about it - I couldn’t interact with them at all via the app options. So, I “forgot” it in the Bluetooth settings and then tried what other users said to do - leave the buds in the case and only get it connected with them in there. Once I did that, I saw the case and buds charge and it prompted me for a software update. Works perfect now. I’m definitely not leaving a great review in the app…that should be mentioned/suggested up front by the devs..Version: 1.3.02

Terrible!Bought the UFP9’s today so I thought I’d download the app but all it says is ‘No Headset Connected’. Contacted LG Support and they told me to return my earphones because it’ll be an issue with those but looking at the reviews on this app, it’s massively common. Can’t Control Earbuds Through the AppOk. The earbuds are great. In terms of price vs performance they punch above their weight. Also their form factor is so slim I can use them under a crash helmet. And in fact use them as mild ANR ear protection all the time. Or, I did! My earbuds still play music/voice/phone/find earbuds through my phone but the controller app now doesn’t “see” the earbuds. Worked it out!I hope this helps some people as the support for these are appalling. I got mine free with my TV and I think I now know why! I managed to sort the app issue I had (not sure if this was due to an update but it all seems to be working). 1. Disconnect your headphones and forget the device in your Bluetooth 2. Close the Tone app 3. Open the Tone app, follow the on screen instructions. 4. If you have renamed your headphones like I had then you will need to make sure that they are reading the default name provided by LG this could be the issue. Should.... work? Then mine updated. The app is still pretty poor but at least you can change the EQ via another music provider other than Apple! Hope that helps..Version: 1.2.76
