✓ Just plain bad.This game is nothing but a re-skin of Adventure communism. Their excuse is to make sure players have a familiar system rather than making a brand new one like they did with the last one. If this is the case why did they not just re-use the Adventure capitalism system when they released adventure communism? The REAL answer? Laziness, They wanted to make a new game but didn’t want to have to put forth the required effort. I mean there isn’t one single thing this game brings new, Literally nothing. Not to mention the blatant historical inaccuracies Find one system ONE thing that is even slightly different from Adventure communism Like I said NOTHING ITS THE SAME GAME.Version: 1.5.0

I just deleted it now because I cannot stand the fact that now I can only click the newest level at the bottom. Even if I just restarted it and leveled up. The pop up everytime “you should deploy these people” I wouldn’t have clicked it if I didn’t want to. ✓ First review got deleted, weird wonder whyI wrote a review and at first I gave three stars but you can see that changed things. The feature that asks “are you sure you want to spend this population” is so annoying and really need to be removed or optional. I’ll get a quest to have a certain amount of something and every single time I click to add to it I have to confirm that I want to just because I have the next thing unlocked. And the next thing isn’t even automated so it’s not even non beneficial to add to the one I want to but everytime I want to add 10% so I don’t waste all my population on it when I don’t need to to complete the mission it makes it more of a hassle..Version: 1.18.0
✓ This is a 5 star game hurt by developer greedWhen you play a freemium game you expect to watch a lot of ads, but when pay for a game every month you expect that to go away. This game is incredibly fun to play, but even with the monthly historic pass, I still had to watch over 50 ads during the most recent event just to get close to the top 1%. This is too much, if you are going to spend money on the game every month, you should not have to watch ads for time pods. Please remove ads for time pods for Historic Pass holders. Speaking of time pods, the developers clearly understand that as you move up in an event or rank the constraining resource quickly becomes people. In response to this, they have made sure that time pods rarely give the large people bonus. This makes it very difficult to complete events. It would be much more fair to just have the reward for time pods randomly and equally selected. While I really enjoy this game, it’s highly frustrating to have to watch ad after ad after ad to make any progress WHILE paying for the game each month. I will likely not be renewing my historic pass any more nor will I be watching any more ads, which means I won’t be able to make any progress on the game and will then stop playing it. I hope the developers take this to heart and fix the two issues above. If they do, I’ll definitely be back and this would be a 5 start game..Version: 1.16.0

✓ Greedy reskin of Adventure CommunistAdventure Capitalist was an incredible game and a classic. It was unique for its time and liked by nearly everyone. Adventure Communist came by with some great innovations but also aggressive and excessive over monetization. It was sad and a big show of the greed with it basically having the gamble boxes and high price tags for everything. Gone are the days or paying a one time price tag to upgrade to premium and the developers of this franchise took advantage of this fact to the fullest. Adventure Ages is an insult as it’s mostly a reskin of Adventure Communist with little changes and little of anything to make me want it over Adventure Communist. The only reason it gets 2 stars is that to me it seems better balanced than Adventure Communist and also that both Adventure Ages and Adventure Communist are good idle games at there core despite the horrendous and offensive over monetization that stripped away any respect and care I have for the parent company..Version: 1.20.1

✓ Nice and shiny, feels like a spectator gameI loved adventure capitalist, played it like crazy. The feeling of acceleration, the perceived impact you could have by doubling away time, by watching adds, etc… Adventure ages feels like it lacks those two things. The acceleration is mild, the lack of choosing your moment of prestige takes away some of the individual judgment. The lack of doubling away time and lack impact on your earnings makes it feel more like a spectator game than ad cap. I played the crap out of the most recent event, even checking in at night sometimes during sleeping hours. I spent a bunch of crystals (400+) and still am not going to get either of the top two rewards. This makes the game feel very pay to win. I’ll save more crystals up for the next one, but it’s a bummer to give this sooo much time and attention and not get to the top tiers. Just makes me miss ad cap..Version: 1.17.0

I played through all of the moon, Mars and halfway through AdCap! And a lot of adventure communist.I have been waiting for a new hyper hippo game and I am so mad. So basically this is adventure communist with a brand new coat of paint. It also looks waaay worse. It’s very bright and hurts my eyes. It also looks way too cartoony and I feel like it try’s way too hard to appeal to parents that want their kids to only play educational crap. ✓ Most events unbeatable without $I really enjoyed this game for a few months. Progress was balanced and the events helped keep the grindier bits of the game fresh and enjoyable. However, I had a vacation for a couple weeks and really put an effort into trying to max out and get through level 20 in the events. I didn’t want to pay to have to do this and even had a fair bit of gems saved through F2P to help push me through the tougher aspects of the events. I probably put in 8-10 hours over the course of the 4 day event, watching all the event ads I possibly could.(even waking up in the middle of the night to not miss out on loot boxes). This is A LOT of time to be spending on an idle game. I always would end up somewhere in the middle of the top 1%. I never made it past level 18 in the Japanese or Egyptian events. Even the top 1% aren’t maxing out the events? The regular game became too slow to really even check on until the events started once a week(level ~50). I’m all up for a challenge but putting forth nearly full (Free) effort did not reward the user enough to continue the Grind. ✓ Honest ReviewThis game is fun and keeps you entertained for a few weeks. I am currently rank 63. However, there comes a point where the upgrades cost too much. Receiving roughly 200xp from each chest when card upgrades soon cost 8,000+ is just ridiculous to say the least. It seems like a ploy to get you hooked in the early game then it makes you pay for XP packs and other microtransactions in order to actually advance further and further down the line. The operations tab mainly consists of ‘ad watching’ missions in order to get those rewards. It is also impossible to fully complete the operations tier list in the given amount of time unless you yet again, pay money to advance further. The weekly events that are held are the same deal as the operations tab. It is impossible to complete the event to the max level unless you pay money for a whole lot of time warps. For me, there came a point where this game just became a novelty to pass time for a few minutes while at work. And I can almost guarantee the same will happen for the rest of you..Version: 1.11.0

I could deal with most of the ads crashing the app so just stopped bothering with them, but the game won’t run for even 10 seconds before crashing now, so it’s literally unplayable. ✓ Disappointing Re-skinAnother longtime Happy Hippo player disappointed to see a cheesy re-skin of AdVenture Communism rather than a new title. Both Capitalism and Communism brought new things to idle multiplier gameplay while pairing it with a unique aesthetic and thoughtful humor that rewarded paying attention. This version replaces that uniqueness with a copy-paste of the rest of the App Store... apparently on purpose. I do not begrudge the devs commercial success, if this is truly able to give them that. ✓ Adventure Communist ReskinThis game is basically just a reskin of their previous game. That alone isn’t so much of an issue, the issue is that they still included a major flaw that Adventure Communist had as well... and that is the inclusion of the tasks that require you to “upgrade x number of cards”. This can cause the player to be caught in a rut where the only way to progress is to either wait multiple days by opening the free daily packages which contain the Xp/cards required to level up, or to (of course) spend real money on the xp or cards needed. The worst part of this is that these tasks are not always visible at the start of a rank, so you can spend all of your resources, just to immediately be met with a task that requires you to spend those same resources that you are now out of. The devs need to do one of 2 things. Either remove these tasks, or make it so that they are retroactive in the current rank in some way. The latter option can still leave the player stuck, but at least it’s better than how it is now. The player shouldn't be forced to horde limited resources just to meet the requirements of these arbitrary tasks that appear randomly, and are required for game progression. I mentioned this exact issue back in my review of AC, and nothing was ever done, so my hopes aren’t high. It’s almost feel like these games aren’t tested. Yet another cash grab... I’d hold off on this game until these obvious and glaring issues are fixed..Version: 1.5.0
✓ Disappointing.Almost exactly just a re-skinned version of AdVenture Communist (which is a great game, don’t get me wrong), with more unclear and unpleasant visuals. This game feels so incredibly uninspired that it genuinely just feels like a knock off. ✓ Unimaginative idlerA year into playing, I find the primary loop of the game to not be interesting. Strategy and resource management do not exist. The most insulting thing is that spending $10 for the monthly pass heavily incentivizes the player to watch ads. Numbers going up aren’t as satisfying because of the awful notation used in place of scientific notation. Having “KFC” as a symbol might be the unfunniest “joke” I have seen in a game. The art and theming are garish. The card system is an arbitrary imitation of other successful game monetization models that doesn’t fit the idler genre. It is still an app that I can check every 24-48 hours to see some numbers go up, which fills its purpose for me, but I would suggest finding a different app to fill that need, perhaps one that doesn’t find every opportunity to beg for a few dollars..Version: 1.18.1

Examples are: The “King’s Choice” ad won’t let your exit off of it. Wanted to have a look at them again and I realize that some major flaws did not change over the years to avoid the risk of the game becoming toxic to players’ lifestyles: who thought it would be a good idea to balance events so that people have to connect to an idle game every 2-4h, even at night, to be able to beat events? And even then with this relentlessness you most probably can’t even reach the levels to unlock Epic cards this way… A game designed like this clearly does not care about its players and their mental health. I remember when I was playing years ago I could wake up in the night and think: “oh! I should open my phone just to open event capsules before they max out.” Of course that is my problem but the fact that a game does not have 12h idle max rewards show me how toxic the game is designed. And let’s not start on the amount of ads that you can watch daily just to feel some kind of progress….Version: 1.22.1

✓ Non-Stop Events are a Shameless Money GrabI really like this style of game. I’ve basically maxed out everything in Adventure Capitalist. But something about Adventure Ages just feels off. I’ve distilled this feeling down into two points. First, the events never stop. One ends, and another one starts the next day. I feel like I’m constantly being pulled away from the “real” game to play a competitive version of the game where prizes are based on how many chests you open, and people who spend money have an obvious advantage. Also, the events are unfair, either intentionally so or because of poor programming. In a recent event, all three of my active missions were to collect a particular number of Katanas. But based on the number of Katanas I was generating per second, it would take something like a week just to complete the lowest objective. So that event came to a screeching halt. Another time, I had to collect a certain number of something. However, the automation hero wasn’t available until I had passed two more levels. Completing that mission would have required me to spend hours clicking on a button every 90 seconds. My second complaint is about the money grubbiness of the developers. Because I enjoyed AdCap, I figured I’d send some $ the developers way and pay for the permanent boost with no requirement to watch ads. It was fun for a month, and then I learned that $10 was only for 30 days. After that, I had to pay again. No mobile game is worth $10 a month..Version: 1.20.1

The gameplay mechanics are basically identical and offer nothing new for those that have already played Adventure Communist. ✓ Adventure CommunistLike a lot of the reviews are saying, it’s literally a 1 to 1 copy of Adventure Communist but with a different theme. I am genuinely puzzled that is even a thing. I love the games they have created and have put a ton of time into them but this game is useless. This would have been a cool purchasable skin for Adventure Communist and even sounds like what the developer intended but is a waste as a separate game. “Not everyone loves potatoes that’s why we created adVenture Ages”, which supports my argument. ✓ Should be called Invasivion of the Advertisements.This game is essentially a duplication of Adventure Communist. It shares with all the Hyper Hippo games escalating nepharious advertisement practices. Some ads launch the browser and the app store. Some adds obscure (or shrink) the exit icon "x", making it very difficult to leave the ad without launching the App store. Some of the exit icons are so small you can only exit if you have small fingers ("pinky exits"). The game sometimes crashes during the ads because of all the apps it launches and you wont get you reward. (Ad lockups) A good stategy in the game when it "Ad locks" is to close the game, re-enter and do all you bonus upgrades real fast. You can sometimes get two addless bonuses. ✓ Just Adventure CommunistIt’s literally Adventure Communist reskinned - they’ve not even added support for any iPhone resolutions above the iPhone 8 yet... (it does run at full res but the game ui is iPhone 8 screen size with blue bars at the top and bottom- exactly the same as AdComm) If you like AdComm and for some reason want to play something similar to a weekend event but permanently, this is the game for you :).Version: 1.4.0
✓ Constant crashing and stability issuesNot sure if it’s my iPhone 7 or the software itself, but this game takes probably 5x as long to launch compared to the other Adventure games; it hard crashes probably every 15 minutes or so, and the 2x ad function does not work as intended as it also often crashes the game and doesn’t even count. It’s early days for the game but needs some serious optimization. Past that, it’s just an apolitical reskin of Adventure Communist, with a more garish color scheme. ✓ Adventure Communist with a Bad Paint JobI really enjoyed adventure capitalist and communist so when I saw that there was a new game out, I rushed to download it. I’m very disappointed. The aesthetic of this new game isn’t nearly as fun; all the ages’ menus and cards look the same and the screen is barren and clinical looking overall. The music isn’t fun either. The mechanics are a carbon copy of their previous game, except they removed the fun little blurbs on the character cards ( or hero’s as they call them now). I’m a huge history buff, so it would have been fun to see some flavor text that hints at who these people are with the same snark as in previous games. I think I’m just going to delete this game and go back to the old ones. Hopefully, they’ll realize their mistake and put out something unique next time but probably not..Version: 1.4.0

✓ Fun Game, But AnnoyingMy problem with this game is that it never stops trying to tell you what to do. From the start, every single mechanic in the game is thrown at you at once. So you’re forced to mindlessly click all the buttons it says to press without fully understanding what’s going on. After a while this stops happening as much but it feels like it never fully stops. It’s like this game has training wheels that never fully come off. It seems like an awesome game but I’d love to just open it and click a few things when I have a few minutes in my day. Unfortunately this game has too many “super crazy deal” pop ups and won’t just let you play. Adventure Capitalist is a good game. ✓ Not what I’ve come to expectI’ve been a long time fan. This game is good and my favorite so far. If it wasn’t for the bugs it would get 5 star. Unfortunately it is still buggy and crashes way too often. The Aztec event is especially crash prone, often +10 times a day. It can be watching a video, tapping a button or just leaving it alone for too long. Switching apps seems to accelerate the time between crashes. Restarts and reboots don’t help much. And sadly the crashes mean you loose rare drops and pop capsules, dropping your rank in the events. If you don’t have a video queued up you loose out on the rare capsules. Would love to see these issues fixed. I lost a lot of gems because of this, trying to keep my event ranking..Version: 1.9.0

✓ Fun Game - infuriating Ad Boost ErrorThis game is fun, I play it a lot. I enjoy it more than adventure communist even tho it’s almost exactly the same game, just more addicting. HOWEVER, it drives me absolutely insane that every 3rd ad I watch I get “ad boost error” and have to restart the app just to watch an ad for a bonus. Or sometimes I watch an ad and it gives me “ad boost error” and doesn’t give me what it said it would! YOU GUYS ARE LOSING MONEY!!! If you make money on ads, you are losing so much money with this problem because I don’t even watch ads from the shipment bonus things anymore because I don’t want to have to restart my app. This has been a problem for MONTHS. I saw a Reddit post months ago complaining about it and a reply from your company with a botted message asking them to email so you can fix the problem for THEM. No matter how much people complain about it, it hasn’t been fixed because nobody actually listens. THIS SCREWS YOU OVER, YOU ARE MISSING OUT ON AT LEAST HALF OF YOUR POTENTIAL REVENUE FROM THIS GAME!! Once this issue is fixed I will rate 5 stars also DONT RESPOND TO ME WITH “please message using the in-app….” This is an issue for most people, it’s not an individual account problem. ✓ Too confusingThe differet levels are too integrated. They dont function independantly. And non stop items pop up without explanations. One second you have 5 tiers going not knowing that some cannot grow without certain actions from other tiers, and the next you have things automated somehow and then everything resets without having told you how it happened. I think the developer tried a little bit too hard but just made some thing that was too convoluted. Some games build themselves as easy to learn but difficult to master. ✓ Hard to enjoy a game that won’t launchI enjoyed it for the first few weeks. The update on June 9th (1.8) left the game super glitchy. It was hit or miss on if it would launch, and would frequently die on the title screen. Launching the event would also auto quit frequently, and watching ads for boosts was dicey. After a week and half of interactions with their help desk, where they gave me some useful advice to try (that didn’t work) and some exceedingly unhelpful advice (that also didn’t work), I decided to delete the game. No other game or app has given me issues. Their help desk seemed much more willing to blame me despite video showing that I had tried their options than give me a ticket number or actually resolving the issue. Helpful advice: uninstall and reinstall app, try force quitting other things to see what’s going on, turn off your phone once to see if it helps Unhelpful advice: turn your phone off and on again every time you want to play, force quitting all apps every time you want to play..Version: 1.8.0

✓ Good Enough to KeepAs an idle game, the app does good in keeping the player interested enough to come back, and there is a good amount of gems coming in to where you don’t feel like it’s a pay to win app. That does change however with the weekly events, there’s no possible way to get top 10% or higher unless you pay to speed things up. The other huge problem is that the game will constantly glitch when trying to pull up an ad for a reward, it’s very frustrating when you only need a little more of a certain material and the game will tell me I don’t have an internet connection when I’m on wifi.
