✓ FTP, and I want a refundDon’t even bother downloading this. Seriously. Absolutely lousy with ads, no option to purchase packs as you did in the prior game, effectively impossible to get invested because you spawn on a board, kill some dudes and that’s it. Go buy XCOM, or XCOM 2. They’re actually ad free because you’re buying the whole game, and it’s infinitely better while still providing bite sized accessibility. If aliens aren’t your thing, get WHQ (still the original and fantastic) or WHQ2 (decent if not quite as good as the original) but by all means avoid this game..Version: 1.2004
✓ GarbageNo reward for killing monster, all the levels are pretty much the same kill for enemies or get to the exit. there is a limited amount of daily missions to do to level up your characters and the hard daily missions often scale to far above your level and you won’t be able to match the dps checks. and it’s definitely looking like you have to pay to progress. And how about an iap to get the additional rewards without adds if that’s how you are going to limit progress.Version: 0.1021

✓ Game keeps crashing.The game is literally unplayable on my iPhone Xs, as after the first round of combat(and sometimes even in the main menu) the game will begin to stutter and eventually crash. ✓ Yawn...Deleted after 1h. The cash grab is so obvious, it’s not even disguised into anything appealing. Graphics is meh, tactics is poor, dungeon design boring, interface not user friendly. Do yourself a favour and buy an actual game with some idea behind it, I mean an idea other than designing a game with one single aim - cashing in as much as possible and as soon as possible through in app purchases. Civilization 6, Thronebreaker, Slay the Spire, Final Fantasy Tactics, FTL, XCom, I could go on and on with great titles that require purchasing a game once and having hours of fun without buying power ups to continue playing, but I guess at this point I’m not going to convert anyone anymore. ✓ Fix the bugs if you want our moneyIf you want us to spend money on this game you should fix the obvious bugs. Now, when I end my turn, the game, often stays as if the turn did not ended but I cannot do anything. My turn is over but the monsters do not act. Also, when I open a chest and click to view a video for a second chest, the game stays at this stage and no video appear. I have to restart the game and then lose my second chest. ✓ Gorgeous game, zero gameplayLoved the 1st Warhammer Quest game as well as the boardgames and was very excited for this, but it’s been a huge letdown. Once you get past the very pretty graphics and animation, there’s really nothing left. You plod mindlessly between stages with no sense of exploration or any real continuity. It’s the same crap each stage. Very little if any meaningful decisions to make. I’m struggling to motivate myself to keep playing in the hopes it will get better. ✓ Good but buggyI’ve mostly enjoyed playing this game so far. Yes, some of it is repetitive; and yes I’ve plowed a little money into it to try and get a character I wanted. However, there are bugs in here that simply shouldn’t be here. Kill multiple brimstone horrors in one go with a magic user; 90% chance of the level breaking. ✓ No progress allowedStarted off well but within a couple of days the game is insanely difficult. I purchased a pack for £4.99 but that hasn’t helped me progress through any further levels. ✓ Huge fan, but...Love the game. It was fine until you get to the higher missions- you pretty much get one-shotted by everything even if you buy the epic packs. The funny thing is that my highest hero is 49 power, but he’s getting one-shotted by enemies more than 20 levels lower than him. No real way to grind xp to keep leveling your heroes. Also, the epic hero randomization is terrible. I purchased three of them and received two Stormcast (already start with one) and another chaos archer (already start with one of them, too). ✓ Really disappointingThe previous Warhammer Quest titles were amazing, because they weren’t FTP cash grabs. You got an immersive adventure and your extra characters were DLC content, perfect! Now, it’s a monotonous grind with crappy microtransactions and nearly no customization. Let’s not even get into the fact that they aren’t even using actual Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower rules in the Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower mobile game. ✓ Absolutely tanked.I know a good few people who still think WHQ was one of the best mobile titles ever. WHQ2 stripped a fair bit of strategy out, but was still a mega game on landing - 2.3gb of astounding graphics, with a clear plot line and potential for character development. This is garbage. A tenth the file size of 2, and about as complex. Unbalanced characters (melee can go straight in the bin), one dimensional strategy. Predictably, as part of an f2p nosedive, all roads point to IAP. ✓ Repetitive and boringThe game feels as though there is no progress as you play, you will quickly hit a wall in the game, the bosses feel unbalanced as the first 1 I fought was immune to cc and could aoe 1 shot my entire group, obtaining characters through summoning stones takes a grind to get the stones less you buy them, even then you may just get garbage, limited abilities (1 per character). ✓ Should be fun but bad battle balanceThe game design and character design are great. But this game is highly not recommended. It’s extremely hard to earn gold and exp, which would be fine if you can spend days to play slowly day by day. You can earn a bit more by watching tons of ads but still not helping much. However the enemies grow much quicker than you that your character won’t survive even by 1 hit. ✓ Constantly freezesFull of bugs, the game constantly freezes on certain levels and you have retry several times and take a different path to complete the level. The enemies characters level up faster than your characters so the game becomes increasingly difficult early on with any increase on the rewards. Ultimately I can also see the game becoming quite boring after a while as the enemies are quite one dimensional as you are only facing Tzeentch and they have 4 main enemy characters to face. ✓ Poor adaptation of the board gameWhile this, visually, looks a lot like the board game, it is a shallow copy. The board game is chock full of random events (like friends and foes randomly appearing), dead ends, disappearing rooms, minigames, and so much more. This electronic adaptation has none of that and is simply and long, boring grind. If you like the look of this game, try to find a copy of the out-of-print board game. ✓ Game is insanely expensiveBe prepared to drop 100’s of dollars if you want any progression. You get nearly nothing for rewards from game. Just another upgrade star rank game where you are forced to spend heaps of money to try out new hero combinations in your party. Once you get a new hero you can’t use it in pvp until you “unlock” it. The game may force you to be star rating 4 just to use the hero you already own if you want to try it out in pvp. ✓ Doesn’t Live Up to Warhammer QuestOriginal WQ had an RPG feel and felt rooted in the world of Warhammer Fantasy, had a lot of character. This knock off pales in comparison. Missions are repetitive, lack character and flavor, and missions themselves tend to be significantly shorter than the 30 second ads you are made to watch to ensure full rewards. Leveling system is boring, weapons are repetitive and don’t stand out. Nothing exciting about mechanics or gameplay. Do not recommend unless you for some reason wanted your original WQ game to feel like a pay to win (is not a pay to win, but has that same grindy “hope they get addicted and spend lots of cash” vibe)..Version: 1.4007
✓ 3rd game in series, 3rd best in quality :-(On the plus side the graphics are better. On the bad side, the characters are far more basic than in any of the previous games, with one fixed skill each and weapons add no real difference, just stat increases, levelling up adds nothing but higher numbers either. The maps as well are tiny, equating to one room from the previous games. Unlike previous iterations you can’t choose new heroes to add to the roster, it’s completely random threw summoning. Speaking of summoning, drop rates for in game resources for getting new heroes, equipment or even levelling up is very VERY sparse, like you need 300xp to level up each of your 3 heroes but 1 mission gives you 10xp to share between them so your are forced to go to the micro transaction shop to progress. Item wise you are lucky if one weapon drops every 5 or 6 missions and it will invariably be a low level “common item”( not had more than a level 3 common item drop yet). Yet you can just go to the shop and buy a high level epic with real world money any time I bought some shards for in game heroes and ended up with 4 of the same character all exactly the same. Basically it’s a very greedy game which is self destructive for the team in the long run. In short I ran up 100’s of hours playing WHQ1, buying every expansion hero and item as well as in game gold as it was a great game worth supporting. This game I’m done with already.Version: 0.1019

✓ Let down by AI and grindingThis looks and plays sleek. However you very quickly become XP constrained especially if you get a new character. Around 10 xp per chest when you need 300 for a single heroes next level is tiresome. The AI is also dumb, will willingly stand in flames or fight a summoned monster instead of targeting a hero themselves. Regularly win just by summoning a skeleton each turn so the mobs never advance and my ranged heroes wear them down.Version: 1.2003
✓ Core Engine / Mechanics need important improvements!March 2nd - still no redesign of hero summoning to avoid the possibility of hundreds of dollars of spending or hundreds of hours grinding in order to get a higher star level team of specific alliances. Until then - no money. Nov 19th - the Dev response below does not address my points at all. Things that need to change: 1. Ability to rename characters. 2. Break Audio controls into FX and Music - allow Apple Music to play customer selected music at the same time that FX run. 3. Change the God awful summoning stone mechanics. Getting the 3rd Rat Shaman in the same day after saving stones for months when trying to get the higher level Chaos Sorcerer is beyond annoying. I understand you need your gotcha money but do it in a way that is not insanely frustrating. Make “shards” or other assembly collectible or purchase item that will allow certain buys based upon grinding or specific purchase. If I select another character before the first one has finished moving the game freezes and you have to force quit and lose your progress on the mission. Sometimes it just crashes for no reason. ✓ Glitch on the “A Crystal Junction”I was enjoying the game, even if it felt a little repetitive, until I made it to “A Crystal Junction, Trial of Light - Part 2”. I tried the quest several times and about halfway through when I move a character the character takes one step then he stops. I can no longer select that character, and he remains in the way of moving my other characters, which I can still select and perform actions with. But once I select “End Turn” it freezes and nothing works. It’s not always the same character and it’s sometimes even a summoned pet I have the issue with. ✓ No point in epic summonsDon’t buy anything - epic summons have no real major advantage except boons - very disappointing that their stats are not even higher - I compared a five star knight vs a one star knight. At same level the one star knight had more attack and HP while the epic one had a bit more defence. So apart from boon slots it’s not that much advantageous to have a 5 star over 1 star. ✓ Cash GrabAlthough the game design is thought out, there are three HUGE issues. 1. There is NO description of what character types are available and what the rates of obtaining those characters are during the champion summon. The same characters are in the normal summon and epic summon, the difference is the star rarity which determines maximum level. You will want 5-stars to have a sporting chance at the higher levels. It takes about a MONTH to save up enough premium currency for one epic summon for a slim rate to get that 5-star. 2. It is nauseating the amount of ads. After beating each mission (takes about a few minutes) you get a chest. Getting a second chest requires watching an ad for 30 seconds. You will want to do this at boss battles to get a chance for better loot, but also for every other chest because leveling characters is a grind. And good luck getting tokens to advance them beyond level 10. 3. The game FREEZES A LOT after using special skills. There is one character either a teleport: game becomes unplayable after using it. One enemy I defeated left behind some lightning. Game froze after. This is ridiculous that they released what amounts to an ALPHA VERSION. BOTTOM LINE: STAY AWAY.Version: 0.1019
✓ Good but needs workThis game is a fun spin off of warhammer quest with reasonable micro transactions. A starter kit is only .99 and all currencies are eventually farmable. Its worth throwing the authors a few bucks for their work. Unfortunately, it loses 2 stars for the amount of bugs. Here are the worst: 1. 2 enemies on one tile, making one to then immune to damage until the first is killed 2. Very rarely not receiving cheat rewards for finishing a level. 3. Combat occasionally freezes when two enemies die that have after-death effects (ex: demons) 4. Not exactly a bug, but levels with traps are too easy to beat. Simply run around the map and let monsters wander into the traps. A simple fix: don’t let npcs end their turn on a trap tile..Version: 0.1021
✓ A great idea ruined by greedy F2P mechanicsI really wanted to like this, and the production values are fantastic, but it’s totally ruined by greedy F2P gambling mechanics. You can only unlock more characters by using the premium currency that is given out very rarely in the game or from big in-game purchase bundles. And even then, you just gamble for a random champion. This is exploiting kids and people with gambling problems. If they just removed that garbage entirely I’d be happy to pay a premium price for the game. But as it is, stay away..Version: 0.1019
✓ Places to improveThe most major issue I experience with the game is a bug in which one of my characters begins a movement action but then doesn’t complete it. They move maybe a square without showing any loss in action points but then they stop and become unsellectable. When this happens, the end turn and menu buttons also don’t seem to work, leaving me with only the option of restarting my phone and doing the mission from the beginning again. This has been especially bad today (this motivating this feedback) and I restarted my phone 5 times before giving up on a mission (at least for now). When the game doesn’t force me to restart my phone to continue, it is quite enjoyable and I wish there was level appropriate content to play after I finish my daily missions. Since the main campus is above my units’ power level, I’m left with nothing to do in the game till the next day when I finish my daily missions. ✓ Constantly CrashesI loved Warhammer on iOS. Was amazing. Saw this version had a new update and I was excited to try it out. Spent a few $$ to get going on a good summons. Well worth it. ✓ Time killer ruined by lack of variety and obnoxious loot boxesSilver Tower was a brilliant board game filled with a variety of puzzles and stories that never fail to keep you and your friends entertained as you progressed towards a conclusion. This is a single player grindfest with no apparent end, with a narrative and pace entirely subsumed to monetising your attention span, requiring long periods of play and lots of advert watching or microtransactions to unlock new heroes, over which you have no control what they’ll be, and will frequently generate unwanted duplicates. It’s a shame because visually it looks great and really draws well on the source material. Small scale maps, few goals, limited equipment and enemy variation, and no real story or choices. Add in grinding, levelling, equipment, and character summoning systems clearly designed to drive in-app purchases and there just isn’t much here. With that said, if you’re basically just looking for a Age of Sigmar skinned arena grinder, there will be enough here to keep you happy for a while. ✓ A poor sequel to the earlier gamesI thoroughly enjoyed the first two Warhammer Quest games by Perchang. They have substituted the lovely map and dungeon exploring for a linear, boring monster slog. While the level design is nice, there is no way to adjust the angle of the camera to appreciate them. The campaign is too easy, and then suddenly far too hard when the monster first gets involved. The game advises you to level your characters up using non campaign modes but this just gets you into a long grind far too early on to be worth it and makes it take too long to add new characters. Also, most maps have exits for 4 heroes, but I could only ever field 3 which was also annoying. Ultimately, this game mirrors the tabletops change to Age of Sigmar. Perchang should have stuck to what they knew but now we have a much inferior version of the game we have enjoyed so much. I’m just glad I didn’t have to waste money on it..Version: 1.4014

✓ Mediocre and a bit boring.Clearly these first reviews are either by the devs or paid for shills. The game looks pretty. That’s the best bit. The rest of it is fairly average. It gets boring fast as you pretty much do the same thing every mission. There’s very little in the way of differentiation. The ‘quests’ are long and tedious, consisting of basically playing the same mission 5 or 6 times in a row. The rewards are poor too. There are no guilds, no leaderboards or pvp. Or anything to do really, except the same repetitive couple of missions. The character screens are small and cluttered, the champions are uninspired and progress is glacial and dull. The UI is also pretty clunky, with small ‘continue’ buttons seemingly randomly placed. It would be much nicer to just be able to tap on the screen to close windows. ✓ Boring and repetitiveThe developers of this game clearly thought they developed the perfect level in the first one they made because they didn’t bother to make more. Each level and mode has no change to it defeat a hand full of creatures or just run to the escape tiles no strategy at all to the game. You don’t pick up loot or follow any kind of a story. You just get chest with 10 coins that’ll buy you nothing. ✓ Wish I could undo an IAPI was enjoying this game immensely...WAS...until I made the mistake of an IAP. NOW my team is unbalanced, with one having a much higher power rating than others. Now all my quests and enemies have “ranked up” to handle that hero, and the others don’t stand a chance. Also managed a few epic summons, including a 5-star, but it took a while to figure out how to swap heroes for a quest...even an online search didn’t have any answers...this needs to be part of the tutorial. Every hero has unique gear, so the more heroes you have, the less likely you’ll get an upgrade for the one you want...I get normal gear for my one upgraded hero (at the level of the gear that I purchased), but the gear for the others is all low level (matching the level of gear they already have)...seems like the game is just waiting for me to spend more money to offer any upgrades. ✓ Worth a tryThe gameplay overall is pretty fun and filled with enough variety to keep you entertained for hours. Progression on the other hand is painstakingly slow... you have the option to watch a 30 second advertisement at the end of every battle which doubles your rewards. Some battles last 10-20 seconds so you find yourself watching ad’s more than actually playing this game. Even if you watch an ad after every battle like I’ve been doing, you still find the rewards are very lacking as they’re not based on how many kills you get or how efficiently you finish a level, they’re always just a few coins and a little bit of XP. It would be nice if they added a one off purchase that removed the advertisement chests. Just my two cents.Version: 0.1021

I have 6 champions in total, 3 of which are now exactly the same (with only their name different.) ✓ Bugs making game unplayableConstantly freezes during enemy phases for same level, making progressing impossible. Enemies get stuck in one another, making it impossible to target them, but still allowing acolyte mages to attack. Further improvements: Daily reward is insignificant and not rewarding - 25xp and 5 summon coins from blot (out of 100 - 250 needed for summon) as a result of 24 hour wait time!? Such an minimal amount gives no motivation to log in. More interesting weapons: the only thing visually that distinguishes an epic from a common is the colour of the portrait. Don’t reuse the same bland visuals for weapon art and slap epic on it with improved stats - that’s lazy. Same goes with skins, some (not all) are basic recolours of the default skin. Adding armor increasing protection/ evasion would be nice. My “evasive” 4 star protaemon hero has high attack but little defence. He is fragile in a fight compared to sathius (starter hero) who can be given weapons to increase attack, and has good defence to tank blows. Clearer tutorial; I had a difficult time finding out how to perform the basic action of switching heroes (you need to hold portrait and drag to hero “slot”). Also, a tip for fighting that isn’t very well explained: if you have a melee character that is next to 2 or more enemies, every time they have a “death blow” (40% chance) they will target the next available enemy in range. If you’re lucky you can clear out a group drawn to your melee hero. More than 3 heroes available to deploy would add more variety, synergy and tactics. Pros to the game: Enjoyable tactical gameplay, especially for higher levels. Crits are super satisfying. Hoping boons can create builds later on. Heroes are interesting. ✓ Very spendyIt’s a pretty basic dungeon crawl; each “quest” is one room with some enemies. If you like Warhammer as much as I do you might get some satisfaction out of it! HOWEVER, to get heroes, you need summoning stones. A summon uses up to 250 stones and they are very dear; you get some for leveling up sometimes, but the only other way is to buy them. 40 stones are a buck and it’s 250 to summon non-trash heroes, so you’re looking at about six bucks per spin. Worse, even after getting enough stones to summon a hero (every few days if you really grind) there’s nothing preventing getting duplicates. So far I’ve gotten six heroes but three have been duplicates, and I had to REALLY work to get those stones. Putting in all that grind to get a spin and getting a duplicate feels real bad. It’s an okay game, but it’s real greedy with the heroes, and heroes are kind of what it’s all about..Version: 0.1021
✓ So far below Warhammer Quest (1)Warhammer Quest gave you access to several heroes, with ways to get more (which did include IAPs). But you could have a full party and a very satisfying game without money. What’s more, you were able to buy the exact character you wanted. Here, you get 2 characters to start, a definite sense that you really need more than those 2, a very sloooooooooow way to grind the currency you need to get more (which path can be lubricated with $$), and a lottery for when you’re ready to spend those precious summoning stones. I love Warhammer but I really wish they’d games where “sufficient monetization plus excellent gameplay” was the priority, instead of “decent gameplay plus maximum monetization”. Oh well. I just downloaded this and am three days in, having completed almost all of the daily quests (can’t finish some of the Hard ones) and having watched the ads after each one to get more gold/xp. The missions are all the same and the game makes up for poor AI by simply increasing the level of the opponents by a large margin.
